2China Argo project:progress in China Argo ocean observations and data applications显示文摘This paper reviews the current achievements of the China Argo project. It considers aspects of both the construction of the Argo observing array, float technology, and the quality control and sharing of its data. The developments of associated data products and data applications for use in the fields of ocean, atmosphere, and climate research are discussed, particularly those related to tropical cyclones(typhoons), ocean circulation,mesoscale eddies, turbulence, oceanic heat/salt storage and transportation, water masses, and operational oceanic/atmospheric/climatic forecasts and predictions. 3Genomic insights into the fast growth of paulownias and the formation of Paulownia witches' broom显示文摘Paulownias are among the fastest growing trees in the world,but they often suffer tremendous loss of wood production due to infection by Paulownia witches'broom(PaWB)phytoplasmas.In this study,we have sequenced and assembled a high-quality nuclear genome of Paulownia fortunei,a commonly cultivated paulownia species.The assembled genome of P.fortunei is 511.6 Mb in size,with 93.2%of its sequences anchored to 20 pseudo-chromosomes,and it contains 31985 protein-coding genes.Phylogenomic analyses show that the family Paulowniaceae is sister to a clade composed of Phrymaceae and Orobanchaceae.Higher photosynthetic efficiency is achieved by integrating C3 photosynthesis and the crassulacean acid metabolism pathway,which may contribute to the extremely fast growth habit of paulownia trees.Comparative transcriptome analyses reveal modules related to cambial growth and development,photosynthesis,and defense responses.Additional genome sequencing of PaWB phytoplasma,combined with functional analyses,indicates that the effector PaWB-SAP54 interacts directly with Paulownia PfSPLa,which in turn causes the degradation of PfSPLa by the ubiquitin-mediated pathway and leads to the formation of witches'broom.Taken together,these results provide significant insights into the biology of paulownias and the regulatory mechanism for the formation of PaWB.Yabing Cao Guiling Sun Xiaoqiao Zhai Pingluo Xu Liming Ma Minjie Deng Zhenli Zhao Haibo Yang Yanpeng Dong Zhonghai Shang Yujie Lv Lijun Yan Haifang Liu Xibing Cao Bingbing Li Zhe Wang Xiaogai Zhao Haiyan Yu Fan Wang Wen Ma Jinling Huang Guoqiang Fan 2021Molecular Plant2021,14,10:7

5Digoxin Ameliorates Glymphatic Transport and Cognitive Impairment in a Mouse Model of Chronic Cerebral Hypoperfusion显示文摘The glymphatic system plays a pivotal role in maintaining cerebral homeostasis.Chronic cerebral hypoperfusion,arising from small vessel disease or carotid stenosis,results in cerebrometabolic disturbances ultimately manifesting in white matter injury and cognitive dysfunction.However,whether the glymphatic system serves as a potential therapeutic target for white matter injury and cognitive decline during hypoperfusion remains unknown.Here,we established a mouse model of chronic cerebral hypoperfusion via bilateral common carotid artery stenosis.We found that the hypoperfusion model was associated with significant white matter injury and initial cognitive impairment in conjunction with impaired glym・phatic system function.The glymphatic dysfunction was associated with altered cerebral perfusion and loss of aquaporin 4 polarization.Treatment of digoxin rescued changes in glymphatic transport,white matter structure,and cognitive function.Suppression of glymphatic functions by treatment with the AQP4 inhibitor TGN-020 abolished this protective effect of digoxin from hypoperfusion injury.Our research yields new insight into the relationship between hemodynamics,glymphatic transport,white matter injury,and cognitive changes after chronic cerebral hypoperfusion.Jie Cao Di Yao Rong Li Xuequn Guo Jiahuan Hao Minjie Xie Jia Li Dengji Pan Xiang Luo Zhiyuan Yu Minghuan Wang Wei Wang 2022Neuroscience Bulletin2022,38,2:5
6Regulation of impedance matching feature and electronic structure of nitrogen-doped carbon nanotubes for high-performance electromagnetic wave absorption显示文摘In this study,we developed a facile method to fabricate three-dimensional(3D)structures composed of FeNi alloy nanoparticles encapsulated in N-doped carbon nanotubes that grafted on the SiO_(2) spheres(Fe_(x)Ni_(y)@NCNT@SiO_(2))for electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorption.The experimental results suggest that the impedance matching characteristic can be tuned by the introduction of SiO_(2) spheres in the 3D structure.Density functional theory(DFT)calculations showed that the introduction of Ni improved the polarization and conductive losses of the Fe_(x)Ni_(y)@NCNT@SiO_(2).As a result,the optimal 3D structure exhibits excellent EMW absorption property with a reflection loss and effective absorption bandwidth are-49.39 dB and 4.32 GHz,respectively,even though the matching thickness is only 1.6 mm,superior to most magnetic carbon-based composites.Thus,our current approach opens up an effective way to the development of low-cost,high-performance EMW absorbers.Fenghui Cao Jia Xu Minjie Liu Feng Yan Qiuyun Ouyang Xitian Zhang Xiaoli Zhang Yujin Chen 2022Journal of Materials Science & Technology2022,,13:3

9Effects of zinc on χ-Fe_(5)C_(2) for carbon dioxide hydrogenation to olefins:Insights from experimental and density function theory calculations显示文摘Production of light olefins from CO_(2), the primary greenhouse gases, is of great importance to mitigate the adverse effects of CO_(2) emission on environment and to supply the value-added products from nonpetroleum resource. However, development of robust catalyst with controllable selectivity and stability remains a challenge. Herein, we report that Zn-promoted Fe catalyst can boost the stable and selective production of light olefins from CO_(2). Specifically, the Zn-promoted Fe exhibits a highly stable activity and olefin selectivity over 200 h time-on-stream compared to the unpromoted Fe catalyst, primarily owing to the preservation of active χ-Fe_(5)C_(2) phase. Structural characterizations of the spent catalysts suggest that Zn substantially regulates the content of iron carbide on the surface and suppresses the reoxidation of bulk iron carbide during the reaction. DFT calculations confirm that adsorption of surface carbon atoms and graphene-like carbonaceous species are not thermochemically favored on Zn-promoted Fe catalyst. Carbon deposition by CAC coupling reactions of two surface carbon atoms and dehydrogenation of CH intermediate are also inhibited. Furthermore, the effects of Zn on antioxidation of iron carbide were also investigated. 14Influence of ENSO Events on Tropical Cyclone Activity over the Western North Pacific显示文摘Based on an analysis of 51-year (1965 2015) data, the influence of El Ni o Southern Oscillation (ENSO) events on tropical cyclone (TC) activity is examined over the western North Pacific (WNP). The total number of TCs formed in the entire WNP reduces by about 3.4 TCs per year in La Ni a years, whereas TCs have an equivalent genesis number between El Ni o years and climatology. During El Ni o years, the frequency of TC formation increases remarkably in the southeast quadrant (140 E 180 , 0 17 N) and decreases in the northwest quadrant (120 140 E, 17 30 N). During La Ni a years, TCs tend to form in the northwest and southwest quadrants (120 140 E, 0 17 N) quadrants. TCs tend to become long-lived in the peak season (from July to Septem- ber) of El Ni o years and during strong El Ni o events. TC genesis shows a southeastward positive shift in terms of lifetime and intensity during El Ni o years, thus more super TCs (winds ≥ 58.64 m s 1) are formed in the southeast quadrant. 20Genome-wide analysis of runs of homozygosity identifies new susceptibility regions of lung cancer in Han Chinese显示文摘Runs of homozygosity (ROHs) are a class of important but poorly studied genomic variations and may be involved in individual susceptibility to diseases. To better understand ROH and its relationship with lung cancer, we performed a genome-wide ROH analysis of a subset of a previous genome-wide case-control study (1,473 cases and 1,962 controls) in a Han Chinese population. ROHs were classified into two classes, based on lengths, intermediate and long ROHs, to evaluate their association with lung cancer risk using existing genome-wide single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) data. We found that the overall level of intermediate ROHs was significantly associated with a decreased risk of lung cancer (odds ratio=0.63; 95% confidence interval: 0.51-0.77; P=4.78×10-6 ), while the long ROHs seemed to be a risk factor of lung cancer. We also identified one ROH region at 14q23.1 that was consistently associated with lung cancer risk in the study.
