Ulva prolifera green-tide outbreaks and their environmental impact in the Yellow Sea, China显示文摘The Ulva prolifera green tides in the Yellow Sea, China, which have been occurring since 2007, are a serious environmental problem attracting worldwide attention. Despite extensive research, the outbreak mechanisms have not been fully understood. Comprehensive analysis of anthropogenic and natural biotic and abiotic factors reveals that human activities, regional physicochemical conditions and algal physiological characteristics as well as ocean warming and biological interactions(with microorganism or other macroalgae) are closely related to the occurrence of green tides. Dynamics of these factors and their interactions could explain why green tides suddenly occurred in 2007 and decreased abruptly in 2017.Moreover, the consequence of green tides is serious. The decay of macroalgal biomass could result in hypoxia and acidification, possibly induce red tide and even have a long-lasting impact on coastal carbon cycles and the ecosystem. Accordingly, corresponding countermeasures have been proposed in our study for future reference in ecosystem management strategies and sustainable development policy.Yongyu Zhang Peimin He Hongmei Li Gang Li Jihua Liu Fanglue Jiao Jianheng Zhang Yuanzi Huo Xiaoyong Shi Rongguo Su Naihao Ye Dongyan Liu Rencheng Yu Zongling Wang Mingjiang Zhou Nianzhi Jiao 2019National Science Review2019,6,4:17
Carbon materials from melamine sponges for supercapacitors and lithium battery electrode materials: A review显示文摘With the increasing energy demand together with the deteriorating environment and decreasing fossil fuel resources, the development of highly efficient energy conversion and storage devices is one of the key challenges of both fundamental and applied research in energy technology.Melamine sponges(MS)with low density, high nitrogen content, and high porosity have been used to design and obtain three‐dimensional porous carbon electrode materials.More importantly, they are inexpensive, environment‐friendly, and easy to synthesize. There have been many reports on the modification of carbonized MS and MS‐based composites for supercapacitor and lithium battery electrode materials. In this paper, recent studies on the fabrication of electrode materials using MS as raw materials have been mainly reviewed, including carbonation, doping activation, and composite modification of MS,and expectations for the development of porous carbon materials for energy storage as a reference with excellent performance, environment‐friendliness, and long life.Yanying Shi Guijing Liu Rencheng Jin Hui Xu Qingyao Wang Shanmin Gao 2019Carbon Energy2019,1,2:11
The High Energy X-ray telescope (HE) onboard the Insight-HXMT astronomy satellite显示文摘The Insight-Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope(Insight-HXMT) is a broadband X-ray and γ-ray(1-3000 ke V) astronomy satellite. One of its three main telescopes is the High Energy X-ray telescope(HE). The main detector plane of HE comprises 18 Na I(Tl)/Cs I(Na) phoswich detectors, where Na I(Tl) is used as the primary detector to measure ~ 20-250 ke V photons incident from the field of view(FOV) defined by collimators, and Cs I(Na) is used as the active shielding detector to Na I(Tl) by pulse shape discrimination. Additionally, Cs I(Na) is used as an omnidirectional γ-ray monitor. The HE collimators have a diverse FOV,i.e. 1.1°×5.7°(15 units), 5.7°×5.7°(2 units), and blocked(1 unit). Therefore, the combined FOV of HE is approximately5.7°×5.7°. Each HE detector has a diameter of 190 mm resulting in a total geometrical area of approximately 5100 cm2, and the energy resolution is ~15% at 60 ke V. For each recorded X-ray event by HE, the timing accuracy is less than 10 μs and the deadtime is less than 10 μs. HE is used for observing spectra and temporal variability of X-ray sources in the 20-250 ke V band either by pointing observations for known sources or scanning observations to unveil new sources. Additionally, HE is used for monitoring the γ-ray burst in 0.2-3 Me V band. This paper not only presents the design and performance of HE instruments but also reports results of the on-ground calibration experiments.CongZhan Liu YiFei Zhang XuFang Li XueFeng Lu Zhi Chang ZhengWei Li AiMei Zhang YongJie Jin HuiMing Yu Zhao Zhang MinXue Fu YiBao Chen JianFeng Ji YuPeng Xu JingKang Deng RenCheng Shang GuoQing Liu FangJun Lu ShuangNan Zhang YongWei Dong TiPei Li Mei Wu YanGuo Li HuanYu Wang BoBing Wu YongJie Zhang Zhi Zhang ShaoLin Xiong Yuan Liu Shu Zhang HongWei Liu YiJung Yang Fan Zhang 2020Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2020,63,4:9
Tracing the settlement region of massive floating green algae in the Yellow Sea显示文摘Outbreaks of large-scale green tides formed by Ulva prolifera in the Yellow Sea (YS) cause heavy ecological damages and huge economic losses. However, the ecological consequences of green tides remain poorly understood due to the lack of knowledge on the settlement region of massive green algae floating in the YS. In this study, we established a method to trace the settlement region of floating green algae, using 28-isofucosterol preserved in sediment as the specific biomarker for green algae. Sterols including 28-isofucosterol in surface sediment samples collected during an investigation in the YS and the Bohai Sea (BS) in August 2015 were analyzed using gas chromatography coupled with a mass spectrometer (GC-MS). Based on the content of 28-isofucosterol in sediment samples, the potential settlement region of fl oating green algae was identifi ed in the sea area southeast to the Shandong Peninsula around the sampling site H06 (122.66°E, 36.00°N). This paper presents a first result on the settlement region of floating green algae in the YS for providing a solid basis to elucidate the ecological consequences of green tides in the area.GENG Huixia YU Rencheng ZHANG Qingchun YAN Tian KONG Fanzhou ZHOU Mingjiang 2019Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2019,37,5:7
Development of high-resolution chloroplast markers for intraspecific phylogeographic studies of Phaeocystis globosa显示文摘Phaeocystis globosa is an important harmful algal bloom causative species distributing widely in temperate and tropical coastal waters in the world. The morphological, physiological, and biochemical characteristics are different among geographic strains, which can not be distinguished with nuclear ribosomal DNA markers at present. Therefore, the genetic distance and phylogeographic relationships of nuclear 28S rDNA D1–D2 and ITS regions, and three chloroplast intergenic spacers(petN-trnS1,trnM1-psbA,and rbcS-rpl27)were analyzed and compared among 13 strains of P.globosa isolated from the Pacific Ocean and Atlantic Ocean in this study. In addition, the nucleotide polymorphisms of 28S rDNA D1–D2,ITS,and rbcS-rpl27 regions were evaluated in two P.globosa strains. The various levels of nucleotide polymorphism were in the nuclear 28S rDNA D1–D2 region and ITS region, but no polymorphism was in the chloroplast rbcS-rpl27 intergenic spacer.A reasonable intraspecific phylogeographic relationship was presented by rbcS-rpl27 intergenic spacer, which had the strongest distinction to geographic strains compared to those of 28S rDNA D1–D2 and ITS regions. In the phylogenetic tree of rbcS-rpl27 intergenic spacer, the two strains from the North Sea of the Atlantic Ocean were divided firstly from the species of P.globosa, and then formed an independent clade, while the other Atlantic strains and all of Pacific strains joined up to build the other clade. It was implied that at least two genetically distant populations of P.globosa existed in the Atlantic coastal regions. This study provided a high-resolution chloroplast marker to analyze intraspecific phylogeographic populations of P.globosa, and preliminarily clarified the genetic relationships of the Pacific and Atlantic strains of P.globosa.Qingchun ZHANG Zhuang NIU Jinxiu WANG Chao LIU Fanzhou KONG Xiaokun HU Jiayu ZHAO Rencheng YU 2021Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2021,39,2:3
Enhanced Light-Harvesting Efficiency and Adaptation: A Review on Visible-Light-Driven Micro/Nanomotors显示文摘As visible light accounts for a larger proportion of solar energy and is harmless to living organisms,it has the potential to be the energy source of micro/nanomotors,which transform visible-light energy into mechanical motion, for different applications, especially in environmental remediation. However, how to precisely control the motion of visible-light-driven micro/nanomotors(VLD-MNMs)and efficiently utilize the weak visible-light photon energy to acquire rapid motion are significant challenges. This review summarizes the most critical aspects, involving photoactive materials, propulsion mechanisms, control methods, and applications of VLD-MNMs,and discusses strategies to systematically enhance the energyharvesting efficiency and adaptation. At first, the photoactive materials have been divided into inorganic and organic photoactive materials and comprehensively discussed. Then, different propulsion mechanisms of the current VLD-MNMs are presented to explain the improvement in the actuation force, speed, and environmental adaptability. In addition, considering the characteristics of easy control of VLD-MNMs,we summarized the direction, speed, and cluster control methods of VLD-MNMs for different application requirements.Subsequently, the potential applications of VLD-MNMs,e.g.,in environmental remediation, micropumps, cargo delivery, and sensing in microscale, are presented. Finally, discussions and suggestions for future directions to enhance the energy-harvesting efficiency and adaptation of VLD-MNMs are provided.Dekai Zhou Rencheng Zhuang Xiaocong Chang Longqiu Li 2020Research2020,,1:3

The spillover effect of disclosure rules and materiality thresholds:Evidence from profit warnings issued in Hong Kong market显示文摘Dual-listed firms simultaneously follow the relevant rules in their home country and in their cross-listed country. In contrast, other firms only listed in the cross-listed country are only subject to the local regulations.Previous literature has found evidence that cross-listing can improve firms' information transparency because of more stringent listing rules in the cross-listed country. The existing research, however, has not paid enough attention to the potential influence of dual-listed firms and their home country institutional factors(e.g.unique disclosure policies) on other firms only listed in the cross-listed country(i.e.spillover effect). In the Hong Kong market,Chinese dual-listed firms are under the mandatory profit warning regulation of China's Mainland, but other firms listed only in Hong Kong only need to follow the voluntary disclosure rule of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.Such a setting provides us with the opportunity to investigate a spillover effect,i.e.whether these Chinese dual-listed firms influence their peers only listed in Hong Kong to release profit warnings. We find that firms only listed in Hong Kong are more likely to issue profit warnings if their Chinese dual-listed peers have also issued warnings. We further find that this spillover effect increases with the market capitalization of Chinese duallisted firms and increases with the market share of these firms before they dominate the industry.Lastly, due to an underlying duty to disclose material information in Hong Kong, the spillover effect is weaker for firms with large earnings surprises.Rencheng Wang Yao Zhang 2011China Journal of Accounting Research2011,,Z1:2

Laboratory simulation of dissolved oxygen reduction and ammonia nitrogen generation in the decay stage of harmful algae bloom显示文摘To evaluate how the decay of bloom-forming algae affect the coastal dissolved oxygen,a laboratory simulation was conducted in terms of three typical harmful algae,Alexandrium catenella,Prorocentrum donghaiense, and Skeletonema costatum.Algae of same biomass(55μg/mL)were conducted in lightproof columns, and the cell density, dissolved oxygen(DO),and ammonia nitrogen of different layers were monitored at certain time series. Results show that the decomposition of algae significantly decreased the DO,and increased the ammonia nitrogen in all layers;and significant deference between different species was observed. The A.catenella treatment showed the lowest DO(average concentration of 3.4 mg/L)and the highest ammonia nitrogen(average concentration of 0.98 mg/L)at the end of test, followed by P.donghaiense;and the S.costatum showed relatively high DO and low ammonia nitrogen due to slow decay rate. Results indicate that decomposition of harmful bloom algae, especially dinoflagellate, would cause significantly DO depletion and toxic ammonia nitrogen increase, which will detrimentally affect both pelagic and benthic ecosystem.Qiaoning WANG Xiaodong LI Tian YAN Jingjing SONG Rencheng YU Mingjiang ZHOU 2021Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2021,39,2:1
