| 2 | Effects of Short-Term Forest Bathing on Human Health in a Broad-Leaved Evergreen Forest in Zhejiang Province,China显示文摘Objective To investigate the effects of short-term forest bathing on human health.Methods Twenty healthy male university students participated as subjects and were randomly divided into two groups of 10.One group was sent on a two-night trip to a broad-leaved evergreen forest,and the other was sent to a city area.Serum cytokine levels reflecting inflammatory and stress response,indicators reflecting oxidative stress,the distribution of leukocyte subsets,and plasma endothelin-1 (ET-1) concentrations were measured before and after the experiment to evaluate the positive health effects of forest environments.A profile of mood states (POMS) evaluation was used to assess changes in mood states.Results No significant differences in the baseline values of the indicators were observed between the two groups before the experiment.Subjects exposed to the forest environment showed reduced oxidative stress and pro-inflammatory level,as evidenced by decreased malondialdehyde,interleukin-6,and tumor necrosis factor α levels compared with the urban group.Serum cortisol levels were also lower than in the urban group.Notably,the concentration of plasma ET-1 was much lower in subjects exposed to the forest environment.The POMS evaluation showed that after exposure to the forest environment,subjects had lower scores in the negative subscales,and the score for vigor was increased.Conclusion Forest bathing is beneficial to human health,perhaps through preventive effects related to several pathological factors. | MAO Gen Xiang LAN Xiao Guang CAO Yong Bao CHEN Zhuo Mei HE Zhi Huat LV Yuan Dong WANG Ya Zhen HU Xi Lian WANG Guo Fu YAN Jing | 2012 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2012,25,3: | 20 |
| 3 | miR-30b inhibits autophagy to alleviate hepatic ischemiareperfusion injury via decreasing the Atg12-Atg5 conjugate显示文摘AIM: To explore the role and potential mechanism of miR-30 b regulation of autophagy in hepatic ischemiareperfusion injury(IRI).METHODS: An animal model of hepatic IRI was generated in C57BL/6 mice. For in vitro studies, AML12 cells were immersed in mineral oil for 1 h and then cultured in complete Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium(DMEM)/F12 to simulate IRI. Mice and cells were transfected with miR-30 b agomir/mimics or antagomir/inhibitor to examine the effect of miR-30 b on autophagy to promote hepatic IRI. The expression of miR-30 b was measured by real-time polymerase chain reaction. Apoptotic cells were detected by terminal uridine nickend labeling(TUNEL) staining, and cell viability was detected by methylthiazole tetrazolium assay. The expression of light chain 3, autophagy-related gene(Atg)12, Atg5, P62, and caspase-3 were detected by western blotting analysis.RESULTS: miR-30 b levels were significantly downregulated after hepatic IRI, and the numbers of autophagosomes were increased in response to IRI both in vivo and in vitro. These findings demonstrate that low levels of miR-30 b could promote hepatic IRI. Furthermore, we found that miR-30 b interacted with Atg12-Atg5 conjugate by binding to Atg12. Overexpression of miR-30 b diminished Atg12 and Atg12-Atg5 conjugate levels, which promoted autophagy in response to IR. | 4 | Ti/(Ti,Cr)N/CrN multilayer coated 316L stainless steel by arc ion plating as bipolar plates for proton exchange membrane fuel cells显示文摘Arc ion plating(AIP) is applied to form Ti/(Ti,Cr)N/Cr N multilayer coating on the surface of 316 L stainless steel(SS316L) as bipolar plates for proton exchange membrane fuel cells(PEMFCs). The characterizations of the coating are analyzed by scanning electron microscopy(SEM) and X-ray diffraction(XRD). Interfacial contact resistance(ICR) between the coated sample and carbon paper is 4.9 m cm^2 under 150 N/cm^2,which is much lower than that of the SS316 L substrate. Potentiodynamic and potentiostatic tests are performed in the simulated PEMFC working conditions to investigate the corrosion behaviors of the coated sample. Superior anticorrosion performance is observed for the coated sample, whose corrosion current density is 0.12 μA/cm2. Surface morphology results after corrosion tests indicate that the substrate is well protected by the multilayer coating. | 9 | New Vegetation Index and Its Application in Estimating Leaf Area Index of Rice显示文摘Leaf area index (LAI) is an important characteristic of land surface vegetation system, and is also a key parameter for the models of global water balancing and carbon circulation. By using the reflectance values of Landsat-5 blue, green and red channels simulated from rice reflectance spectrum, the sensitivities of the bands to LAI were analyzed, and the response and capability to estimate LAI of various NDVIs (normalized difference vegetation indices), which were established by substituting the red band of general NDVI with all possible combinations of red, green and blue bands, were assessed. Finally, the conclusion was tested by rice data at different conditions. The sensitivities of red, green and blue bands to LAI were different under various conditions. When LAI was less than 3, red and blue bands were more sensitive to LAI. Though green band in the circumstances was less sensitive to LAI than red and blue bands, it was sensitive to LAI in a wider range. When the vegetation indices were constituted by all kinds of combinations of red, green and blue bands, the premise for making the sensitivity of these vegetation indices to LAI be meaningful was that the value of one of the combinations was greater than 0.024, i.e. visible reflectance (VIS)>0.024. Otherwise, the vegetation indices would be saturated, resulting in lower estimation accuracy of LAI. Comparison on the capabilities of the vegetation indices derived from all kinds of combinations of red, green and blue bands to LAI estimation showed that GNDVI (Green NDVI) and GBNDVI (Green-Blue NDVI) had the best relations with LAI. The capabilities of GNDVI and GBNDVI to LAI estimation were tested under different circumstances, and the same result was acquired. | 17 | Validity of the Chinese Version of the Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) in Lung Cancer Patients显示文摘The prevalence of malnutrition is high among oncology patients in China. Although the Patient- Generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) is widely recognized as an important nutritional assessment tool, it has not been validated for Chinese cancer patients. The purpose of this study was to conduct an analysis of nutrition screening and assessment data to validate the Chinese version of the PG-SGA in Chinese patients with lung cancer. This was an observational, cross-sectional study of 2,000 consecutive adult patients with lung cancer treated at several tertiary hospitals in China. Anthropometric and patient descriptive data were collected. The PG-SGA generated a score for the nutritional risk and a global rating for the nutritional status. The internal consistency, external consistency, and construct validity were evaluated, and a known-groups comparison and principal component analyses were conducted to evaluate the reliability and validity of the PG-SGA. The known-groups comparison demonstrated the ability of the PG-SGA to differentiate lung cancer patients of different nutritional and body mass index (BMI) groups. A confirmatory factor analysis supported the original four-factor structure of the PG-SGA. In terms of the internal and external consistency, the PG-SGA demonstrated intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC) up to 0.987. Alternative form validity was also demonstrated between Box 4 of the PG-SGA and the Karnofsky Performance Status score, with excellent external consistency (r = 0.972, P < 0.001). The construct validity was supported, and selected questionnaire dimensions were evident in the principal component analysis. Significant Spearman correlations (P < 0.001) were demonstrated. The Chinese version of the PG-SGA demonstrated significant reliability and sufficient exploratory properties to support its validity. It seems to be a valid tool that can be used to access the nutritional status of Chinese lung cancer patients.
