1Diagnostic value of 5 serum biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma with different epidemiological backgrounds:A large-scale,retrospective study显示文摘Objective:Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is a lethal global disease that requires an accurate diagnosis.We assessed the potential of 5 serum biomarkers(AFP,AFU,GGT-II,GPC3,and HGF)in the diagnosis of HCC.Methods:In this retrospective study,we measured the serum levels of each biomarker using ELISAs in 921 participants,including 298 patients with HCC,154 patients with chronic hepatitis(CH),122 patients with liver cirrhosis(LC),and 347 healthy controls from 3 hospitals.Patients negative for hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis C antibody(called'NBNC-HCC')and patients positive for the above indices(called'HBV-HCC and HCV-HCC')were enrolled.The selected diagnostic model was constructed using a training cohort(n=468),and a validation cohort(n=453)was used to validate our results.Receiver operating characteristic analysis was used to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy.Results:Theα-L-fucosidase(AFU)/α-fetoprotein(AFP)combination was best able to distinguish NBNC-HCC[area under the curve:0.986(95%confidence interval:0.958–0.997),sensitivity:92.6%,specificity:98.9%]from healthy controls in the test cohort.For screening populations at risk of developing HCC(CH and LC),the AFP/AFU combination improved the diagnostic specificity for early-stage HCC[area under the curve:0.776(0.712–0.831),sensitivity:52.5%,specificity:91.6%in the test group].In all-stage HBV-HCC and HCV-HCC,AFU was also the best candidate biomarker combined with AFP[area under the curve:0.835(0.784–0.877),sensitivity 69.1%,specificity:87.4%in the test group].All results were verified in the validation group.Conclusions:The AFP/AFU combination could be used to identify NBNC-HCC from healthy controls and hepatitis-related HCC from at-risk patients.Dongming Liu Yi Luo Lu Chen Liwei Chen Duo Zuo Yueguo Li Xiaofang Zhang Jing Wu Qing Xi Guangtao Li Lisha Qi Xiaofen Yue Xiehua Zhang Zhuoyu Sun Ning Zhang Tianqiang Song Wei Lu Hua Guo 2021Cancer Biology & Medicine2021,18,1:10

4Genome sequencing and phylogenetic analysis of Banna virus(genus Seadornavirus,family Reoviridae)isolated from Culicoides显示文摘In an investigation of blood-sucking insects and arboviruses, a virus(YN12243) was isolated from Culicoides samples collected in the Sino-Burmese border region of Yunnan Province, China. The virus caused cytopathic effect(CPE) in C6/36 cells and passaged stably. Polyacrylamide gel analysis showed that the genome of YN12243 was composed of 12 segments of double-stranded RNA(dsRNA), with a distribution pattern of 6-6. The nucleotide and amino acid sequences of the coding region(1.12 segments) were17,803 bp and 5,925 amino acids in length, respectively. The phylogenetic analysis of VP1 protein(RdRp) revealed that YN12243 belonged to genus Seadornavirus of family Reoviridae, and further analysis indicated that YN12243 belongs to the Banna virus(BAV) genotype A2. Additionally, YN12243 was located in the same evolutionary cluster as BAV strains isolated from different mosquito species, suggesting that the BAV isolated from Culicoides does not have species barriers. These results indicate that Culicoides can also be a vector for BAV. 5BARRIER LAYER IN THE NORTHEASTERN SOUTH CHINA SEA AND ITS FORMATION MECHANISM显示文摘Robust evidence for the barrier layer (BL) in the northeastern South China Sea (SCS) (16°-25°N, 112°-124°E) is presented. The occurrence rate of the BL peaks in the autumn (45.7%) and then the summer (31.1%) and the spring (23.3%), se-quently. It is estimated that the annual occurrence rate of the BL reaches about 40.0% in the central northeastern SCS (18°-22°N, 112°-120°E) and the Luzon Strait. Stratification-formed (Rain-formed) mechanism is the major factor responsible for the occurrence of the BL in the northeastern SCS in the spring (the summer and autumn), respectively. 8Ascorbic acid accelerates Wallerian degeneration after peripheral nerve injury显示文摘Wallerian degeneration occurs after peripheral nerve injury and provides a beneficial microenvironment for nerve regeneration.Our previous study demonstrated that ascorbic acid promotes peripheral nerve regeneration,possibly through promoting Schwann cell proliferation and phagocytosis and enhancing macrophage proliferation,migration,and phagocytosis.Because Schwann cells and macrophages are the main cells involved in Wallerian degeneration,we speculated that ascorbic acid may accelerate this degenerative process.To test this hypothesis,400 mg/kg ascorbic acid was administered intragastrically immediately after sciatic nerve transection,and 200 mg/kg ascorbic acid was then administered intragastrically every day.In addition,rat sciatic nerve explants were treated with 200μM ascorbic acid.Ascorbic acid significantly accelerated the degradation of myelin basic protein-positive myelin and neurofilament 200-positive axons in both the transected nerves and nerve explants.Furthermore,ascorbic acid inhibited myelin-associated glycoprotein expression,increased c-Jun expression in Schwann cells,and increased both the number of macrophages and the amount of myelin fragments in the macrophages.These findings suggest that ascorbic acid accelerates Wallerian degeneration by accelerating the degeneration of axons and myelin in the injured nerve,promoting the dedifferentiation of Schwann cells,and enhancing macrophage recruitment and phagocytosis.The study was approved by the Southern Medical University Animal Care and Use Committee(approval No.SMU-L2015081)on October 15,2015.Lixia Li Yizhou Xu Xianghai Wang Jingmin Liu Xiaofang Hu Dandan Tan Zhenlin Li Jiasong Guo 2021Neural Regeneration Research2021,16,6:6
9Responses of the Zhe-Min coastal current adjacent to Pingtan Island to the wintertime monsoon relaxation in 2006 and its mechanism显示文摘In conjunction with synchronous remotely sensed winds and sea surface temperature(SST),the spatiotemporal features of the Zhe-Min coastal current(ZMCC),especially responses of the ZMCC adjacent to Pingtan Island(PT) to the wintertime monsoon relaxation in 2006 and corresponding mechanism are investigated based on the field observations.In situ data are acquired from Conductivity-Temperature-Depth(CTD) cruise and Bottom-Mounted Moorings(BMM),which are conducted during a comprehensive survey for the Chinese Offshore Investigation and Assessment Project in winter 2006.It is revealed that the ZMCC is well mixed vertically in winter 2006.The ZMCC(<14°C) recedes during the relaxation of the wintertime monsoon and is accompanied by the enhanced northward shift of the warm,saline Taiwan Strait Mixed Water(TSMW,higher than 14°C and is constituted by the Taiwan Strait Warm Water and the Kuroshio Branch Water).And greatly enhanced southward intrusion of the ZMCC can be detected when the wintertime monsoon restores.Correspondingly,the thermal interface bounded by the ZMCC and the TSMW moves in the northwest/southeast direction,leading to periodic warm/cold reversals of the near-seabed temperature adjacent to the PT.By EOF(Empirical Orthogonal Function) analysis of the large-scale wind fields and wavelet power spectrum analysis of the water level,ocean current and the near-seabed temperature,responses of the ZMCC off the PT to wintertime monsoon relaxation are suggested to be attributed mainly to the southward propagating coastally trapped waves triggered by the impeding atmospheric fronts.As a result,ocean current and near-seabed temperature demonstrate significant quasi-5 d and quasi-10 d subtidal oscillations.By contrast,the onshore/offshore water accumulation resulted from Ekman advection driven by the local winds has minor contributions.PAN AiJun WAN XiaoFang GUO XiaoGang JING ChunSheng 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,3:5
10Responses of Guangdong coastal upwelling to the summertime typhoons of 2006显示文摘The effects of typhoon intrusion on the Guangdong coastal upwelling system were investigated on the basis of in situ CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) cruise observations and especially upward-looking ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profil- ers) measurements obtained from a comprehensive survey of the Guangdong coastal region carried out by the Chinese Off-shore Investigation and Assessment Project in the summer of 2006. It was found that northeastward geostrophic advection driven by the summer monsoon has a significant near-seabed onshore component adjacent to Shantou, which in conjunction with upper-level offshore Ekman flow, constitutes the canonical Guangdong coastal upwelling system. Further analyses suggested that the Guangdong coastal upwelling system is sensitive to subtle changes in the typhoon intensity and migration pathway. On one hand, as a typhoon approaches from north of the upwelling system (e.g. Typhoon 0604 (Bilis) and Typhoon 0605 (Kaemi)) in the early phase of intrusion, the enhanced southwesterly leads to exceptional enhancement of the onshore flow; i.e., enhanced upwelling. Afterward, irrespective of the forced ocean responses resulting from the stronger local winds (Typhoon 0604) or the moderate typhoon-induced inertial oscillations (Typhoon 0605), the situation is not conducive to sustaining a stable, persistent upwelling system. On the other hand, when there is typhoon intrusion south of the upwelling system (e.g. Typhoon 0606 (Prapiroon)), the favorable southwesterly tends to be substituted by an anomalous northeasterly, which destroys the traditional coastal upwelling pattern. 20Enhanced TE properties of Cu@Ag/Bi2Te3 nanocomposites by decoupling electrical and thermal properties显示文摘Cu@Ag/Bi2Te3 nanocomposites were prepared for the first time by ultrasonic dispersion-rapid freezedrying method combined with spark plasma sintering(SPS).By changing the content of Cu@Ag nanoparticle,we could modulate the temperature dependent thermoelectric properties.The highest ZT value can be obtained at 450 K for 1 vol%Cu@Ag/Bi2Te3,which is benefited from the decoupling of electrical and thermal properties.With the increase of electrical conductivity,the absolute value of Seebeck coefficient lifts while the thermal conductivity declines.Meanwhile,the average ZT value between 300 K and 475 K was 0.61 for 1 vol%Cu@Ag/Bi2Te3,which is much higher than that of pristine Bi2 Te3.Therefore,the decoupling effect of Cu@Ag nanoparticles incorporation could be a promising method to broaden the application of Bi2Te3 based thermoelectric materials.Xiaofang Lu Qi Zheng Shijia Gu Rui Guo Li Su Jiancheng Wang Zhenxing Zhou Yuchi Fan Wan Jiang Lianjun Wang 2020Chinese Chemical Letters2020,31,3:1
