1Red blood cell membrane-camouflaged nanoparticles: a novel drug delivery system for antitumor application显示文摘Erythrocytes(red blood cells, RBCs) are the most abundant circulating cells in the blood and have been widely used in drug delivery systems(DDS) because of their features of biocompatibility,biodegradability, and long circulating half-life. Accordingly, a 'camouflage' comprised of erythrocyte membranes renders nanoparticles as a platform that combines the advantages of native erythrocyte membranes with those of nanomaterials. Following injection into the blood of animal models, the coated nanoparticles imitate RBCs and interact with the surroundings to achieve long-term circulation. In this review, the biomimetic platform of erythrocyte membrane-coated nano-cores is described with regard to various aspects, with particular focus placed on the coating mechanism, preparation methods, verification methods, and the latest anti-tumor applications. 3Geochemical Information Indicating the Water Recharge to Lakes and Immovable Megadunes in the Badain Jaran Desert显示文摘Calc-sinters distributed in the middle of lakes and rhizoconcretions scattered at the slopes of sand dunes were observed during three explorations to the Badain Jaran Desert in the past two years. Wet sands were also found underneath the dry surface sand layers of about 20–50 cm in thickness. The geochemical parameters were measured on minerals and water samples collected from the Badain Jaran Desert and neighboring areas. 4Assessing the capacity of biochar to stabilize copper and lead in contaminated sediments using chemical and extraction methods显示文摘Because of its high adsorption capacity, biochar has been used to stabilize metals when remediating contaminated soils; to date, however, it has seldom been used to remediate contaminated sediment. A biochar was used as a stabilization agent to remediate Cu-and Pb-contaminated sediments, collected from three locations in or close to Beijing. The sediments were mixed with a palm sawdust gasified biochar at a range of weight ratios(2.5%, 5%, and 10%) and incubated for 10, 30, or 60 days. The performance of the different treatments and the heavy metal fractions in the sediments were assessed using four extraction methods, including diffusive gradients in thin films, the porewater concentration, a sequential extraction, and the toxicity characteristic leaching procedure. The results showed that biochar could enhance the stability of heavy metals in contaminated sediments. The degree of stability increased as both the dose of biochar and the incubation time increased. The sediment p H and the morphology of the metal crystals adsorbed onto the biochar changed as the contact time increased. 6Kinetics study on leaching of rare earth and aluminum from polishing powder waste using hydrochloric acid显示文摘In this study,a novel hydrometallurgical process consisting of hydrochloric acid three-stage countercurrent leaching and solvent extraction was proposed to recover rare earth oxide(REO)from the rare earth polishing powder waste(REPPW).The effects of HCl concentration,liquid-solid ratio(L/S ratio),temperature and time on the leaching yields of rare earths(in REO)and aluminum(in Al2O3)were studied.The result shows that the leaching yields of REO and Al2O3 are 90.96%and 43.89%respectively under the optimum leaching parameters of HCl concentration=8.00 mol/L,L/S ratio=4 mL/g,leaching temperature=353 K and leaching time=180 min.Meanwhile,the leaching kinetics of REO and Al2O3 were investigated in this study.The leaching behaviors of REO and Al2O3 follow a shrinking sphere/core model and the general leaching process is controlled by the surface chemical reaction.The leaching activation energies of REO and Al2O3 are 9.86 and 13.68 kJ/mol,respectively.The leaching yield of each substance in three-stage countercurrent leaching is improved substantially compared with single-stage leaching,with a change from 90.96%to 95.38%for REO and from 43.89%to 46.22%for Al2O3,respectively.Especially,the total concentration of REO in three-stage countercurrent leaching solution is greatly increased to above 300 g/L,and the acidity of which is decreased to ca.pH=2,which is conducive to subsequent solvent extraction directly.High purity REO(99.92%)is obtained by solvent extraction separation,oxalate precipitation and calcination.The total recovery yield of REO is 85.13%.Xitao Wu Zhijian Wang Chuping Xia Xuefeng Shi Tianzong Luo Xinjun Bao Rongli Liu Shengzhong Xie 2020Journal of Rare Earths2020,38,9:3

10Adjacent acid sites cooperatively catalyze fructose to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural in a new, facile pathway显示文摘To study the effect of adjacent hydroxyl to the active sites, several acid catalysts, i.e. substituted benzoic acids with adjacent carboxyl are employed in the fructose dehydration to 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF).Experimental results reveal that Br?nsted acid sites with adjacent carboxyl present higher catalytic ability than isolated ones. Computational results suggest that the adjacent sites lead to co-interaction on fructose, corresponding more stable transition state and faster HMF formation rate. 12Impacts of n-alkane concentration on soil bacterial community structure and alkane monooxygenase genes abundance during bioremediation processes显示文摘Petroleum hydrocarbons,mainly consisting of n-alkanes and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs),are considered as priority pollutants and biohazards in the environment,eventually affecting the ecosystem and human health.Though many previous studies have investigated the change of bacterial community and alkane degraders during the degradation of petroleum hydrocarbons,there is still lack of understanding on the impacts of soil alkane contamination level.In the present study,microcosms with different n-alkane contamination(1%,3%and 5%)were set up and our results indicated a complete alkane degradation after 30 and 50 days in 1%-and 3%-alkane treatments,respectively.In all the treatments,alkanes with medium-chain length(C_(11)-C_(14))were preferentially degraded by soil microbes,followed by C27-alkane in 3%and 5%treatments.Alkane contamination level slightly altered soil bacterial community,and the main change was the presence and abundance of dominant alkane degraders.Thermogemmatisporaceae,Gemmataceae and Thermodesulfovibrionaceae were highly related to the degradation of C_(14)-and C_(27)-alkanes in 5%treatment,but linked to alkanes with medium-chain(C11-C18)in 1%treatment and C21-alkane in 3%treatment,respectively.Additionally,we compared the abundance of three alkane-monooxygenase genes,e.g.,alk_A,alk_P and alk_R.The abundance of alk_R gene was highest in soils,and alk_P gene was more correlated with alkane degradation efficiency,especially in 5%treatment.Our results suggested that alkane contamination level showed non-negligible effects on soil bacterial communities to some extents,and particularly shaped alkane degraders and degrading genes significantly.This study provides a better understanding on the response of alkane degraders and bacterial communities to soil alkane concentrations,which affects their biodegradation process.Yueqiao Liu Aizhong Ding Yujiao Sun Xuefeng Xia Dayi Zhang 2018Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2018,12,5:1

15Efficient and reproducible folding simulations of the Trp-cage protein with multiscale molecular dynamics显示文摘Folding simulations are often time-consuming or highly sensitive to the initial conformation of the si-mulation even for mini protein like the Trp-cage. Here, we present a multiscale molecular dynamics method which appears to be both efficient and insensitive to the starting conformation based on the testing results from the Trp-cage protein. In this method the simulated system is simultaneously mod-eled on atoms and coarse-grained particles with incremental coarsening levels. The dynamics of coarse-grained particles are adapted to the recent trajectories of finer-grained particles instead of fixed and parameterized energy functions as used in previous coarse-grained models. In addition, the com-positions of coarse-grained particles are allowed to be updated automatically based on the coherence during its history. Starting from the fully extended conformation and other several different conforma-tions of the Trp-cage protein, our method successfully finds out the native-like conformations of the Trp-cage protein in the largest cluster of the trajectories in all of the eight performed simulations within at most 10 ns simulation time. 16ATF4/TXNIP/REDD1/mTOR signaling mediates the antitumor activities of liver X receptor in pancreatic cancers显示文摘Background:Limited by difficulties in early detection and availabilities of effective treatments,pancreatic cancer is a highly malignant disease with poor prognosis.Nuclear receptors are a family of ligand‐dependent transcription factors that are highly druggable therapeutic targets playing critical roles in human physiological and pathological development,including cancer.In this study,we explored the therapeutic potential as well as the molecular mechanisms of liver X receptor(LXR)agonist GW3965 in pancreatic cancer.Methods:Soft‐agar colony formation assay,xenograft tumors,Oligonucleotide microarray,Reverse transcription real‐time polymerase chain reaction,Western immunoblotting and Immunohistochemistry were used in this study.Results:We demonstrated pleotropic in vitro activities of GW3965 in pancreatic cell lines MIA PaCa‐2 and BXPC3 including reduction of cell viability,inhibition of cell proliferation,stimulation of cell death,and suppression of colony formation,which translated to significant inhibition of xenograft tumor growth in vitro.By mapping the gene expression profiles,we identified the up‐regulations of 188 and the down‐regulations of 92 genes common to both cell lines following GW3965 treatment.Genes responsive to GW3965 represent a variety of biological pathways vital for multiple cellular functions.Specifically,we identified that the activating transcription factor 4/thioredoxin‐interacting protein/regulated in development and DNA damage responses 1/mechanistic target of rapamycin(ATF4/TXNIP/REDD1/mTOR)signaling critically controls GW3965‐mediated regulation of cell proliferation/death.The significance of the ATF4/TXNIP/REDD1/mTOR pathway was further supported by associated expressions in xenograft tumors as well as human pancreatic cancer samples.Conclusions:This study provides the pre‐clinical evidence that LXR agonist is a promising therapy for pancreatic cancer.Zhikang Chen Xiaobo Lai Hui Ding Aijun Zhang Yufei Sun Jianhua Ling Paul J.Chiao Zihua Chen Xuefeng Xia 2022Cancer Innovation2022,1,1:1
