1Responses of Saline Soil Properties and Cotton Growth to Different Organic Amendments显示文摘Application of organic waste to saline alkaline soils is considered to be a good practice for soil remediation. The effects of applying different organic amendments(e.g., cattle dung, vermicompost, biofertilizer) and earthworm inoculations(Eisenia fetida) on saline soils and cotton growth were investigated during 1 year of cotton cultivation. Compared to the control(applied with inorganic NPK fertilizer), applying organic amendments improved soil physicochemical properties. Biofertilizer application improved available nutrient content, reduced short-term soil electrical conductivity, and produced the highest cotton yield, whereas cattle dung and vermicompost applications resulted in higher soil organic matter content. Application of organic amendments significantly increased soil microbial biomass carbon during the flowering period, which sharply declined at harvest. This was especially true for the biofertilizer treatment,which also exhibited lower nematode abundance compared with the other organic materials. Earthworm inoculation following cattle dung application failed to significantly change soil physicochemical properties when compared to the treatments without earthworm inoculation. Results suggest that biofertilizer application to saline soil would improve soil nutrient status in the short-term, whereas cattle dung application would improve soil organic matter content and increase soil organism abundance to a greater extent. 21-Naphthol induced PtsAg nanocorals as bifunctional cathode and anode catalysts of direct formic acid fuel cells显示文摘Developing highly efficient bifunctional cathode and anode electrocatalysts is very important for the large-scale application of direct formic acid fuel cells. However, the high-cost and poor CO-tolera nee ability of the most commonly used Pt greatly block this process. To in crease the utilizatio n efficie ncy and exte nd bifunctional properties of precious Pt, herei n, coral-like Pt3Ag nano crystals are developed as an excelle nt bifunctional electrocatalyst through a facile one-pot solvothermal method. The formation mechanism of Ptgg nanocorals has been elaborated well via a series of control experiments. It is proved that 1-naphthol serving as a guiding surfactant plays a key role in the formation of high-quality nano corals. Thanks to the unique coral-like structure and alloy effects, the developed Ptgg nano corals present sign ificantly enhanced electrocatalytic properties (including activity, stability and CO-toleranee ability) towards both the cathodic oxygen reduction and anodic formic acid oxidati on, as compared with those of commercial Pt black and Pt-based nan oparticles. 4On-chip chalcogenide microresonators with low-threshold parametric oscillation显示文摘Chalcogenide glass (ChG) is an attractive material for highly efficient nonlinear photonics,which can cover an ultrabroadband wavelength window from the near-visible to the footprint infrared region. However,it remains a challenge to implement highly-efficient and low-threshold optical parametric processes in chip-scale ChG devices due to thermal and light-induced instabilities as well as a high-loss factor in ChG films. Here,we develop a systematic fabrication process for high-performance photonic-chip-integrated ChG devices,by which planarintegrated ChG microresonators with an intrinsic quality (Q) factor above 1 million are demonstrated. In particular,an in situ light-induced annealing method is introduced to overcome the longstanding instability underlying ChG film. In high-Q ChG microresonators,optical parametric oscillations with threshold power as low as 5.4 mW are demonstrated for the first time,to our best knowledge. 5Fabrication of gelatin methacryloyl hydrogel microneedles for transdermal delivery of metformin in diabetic rats显示文摘Injection therapy for diabetes has poor patient compliance,and the pain occurring at the site of subcutaneous injections causes significant inconvenience to diabetic patients.In this work,to demonstrate the benefits of an alternative drug delivery technique that overcomes these issues,methacrylated gelatin hydrogel-forming microneedles integrated with metformin were developed to adjust blood glucose levels in diabetic rats.Gelatin methacryloyl microneedles(GelMA-MNs)with different degrees of substitution were successfully prepared by a micro-molding method.The resultant GelMA-MNs exhibited excellent mechanical properties and moisture resistance.Metformin,an anti-diabetic drug,was further encapsulated into the GelMA-MNs,and its release rate could be controlled by the three-dimensional cross-linked network of microneedles,thereby exhibiting sustained drug release behaviors in vitro and implying a better therapeutic effect compared with that of subcutaneous injection in diabetic rats.The drug release period could be significantly prolonged by improving the cross-link density of GelMA-MNs.The results of hypoglycemic effect evaluation show that the application of GelMA-MNs for transdermal delivery in diabetic rats has promising benefits for diabetes treatment.Zhiyong Zeng Guohua Jiang Tianqi Liu Gao Song Yanfang Sun Xueya Zhang Yanting Jing Mingjia Feng Yufei Shi 2021Bio-Design and Manufacturing2021,4,4:4
6Investigating the interlayer electron transport and its in?uence on the whole electric properties of black phosphorus显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D) nanomaterials have attracted great attention in next generation electronic and optoelectronic technologies due to the unique layered structure and excellent physical and chemical properties. However, the mechanism of transmission along the vertical direction of 2D semiconductor materials has not been investigated. Here, we use first-principles calculations to explore the bandgap energies along different directions, and fabricate a vertical, a lateral and a mixture-structured black phosphorus field effect transistor(BPFET) to study the electrical characteristics along different directions under variable temperatures. The variable temperature test indicates that the mixture-structured device performs more like a lateral device, while the conductance along the vertical direction is hard to be tuned by temperature and electrical field. 7PdNi/N-doped graphene aerogel with over wide potential activity for formic acid electrooxidation显示文摘Anti-CO poisoning ability is significant in formic acid oxidation in the fuel cell technique.Herein,Pd Ni alloy supported on N-doped graphene aerogel(Pd Ni/GA-N)was found to have catalytic ability toward formic acid electrooxidation over a wide potential range because of the improved anti-CO poisoning ability.This catalyst was fabricated by simple freeze-drying of mixture solution of graphene aerogel,polyvinylpyrrolidone,Pd^(2+)and Ni^(2+)and the subsequent thermal annealing reduction approach in the N2/H2 atmosphere.Pd-Ni alloy particles anchored over the folding N-doped graphene surface with a porous hierarchical architecture structure in the 3 D directions.It showed the catalytic performance of its maximum mass activity of 836 m A mg^(-1)in a broad potential range(0.2-0.6 V)for formic acid oxidation.The CO stripping experiment demonstrated its largely improved anti-CO poisoning ability with the peak potential of 0.67 V,approximately 60 and 40 m V less compared to those of Pd/GA-N and Pd/C samples.The high anti-CO poisoning ability and strong electronic effect resulting from the interaction between the3 D GA-N support and the Pd-Ni alloy makes it a promising catalyst for application in direct formic acid fuel cells.Yufei Bao Meng Zha Pengliang Sun Guangzhi Hu Ligang Feng 2021Journal of Energy Chemistry2021,30,8:3
8Effectiveness of moxibustion alone on lumbar disc herniation:a Meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the available evidence from randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of moxibustion alone for lumbar disc herniation(LDH)treatment.METHODS:A systematic search of 10 databases(until August 30,2021)was used to identify studies that reported the response rate,visual analogue scale(VAS)score,Japanese Orthopedic Association(JOA)score,and Oswestry Disability Index(ODI)score.Study selection and data extraction were independently performed by two reviewers.Cochrane criteria for risk of bias were used to assess the methodological quality of the trials.The Grading of Recommendations Assessment,Development,and Evaluation Methodology(GRADE)were also used to test the quality of the result evidence.RESULTS:Nineteen RCTs,including 1888 patients,met the inclusion criteria.Five studies showed no difference between moxibustion and acupuncture on response rate[risk ratio(RR)=1.07,95%CI(0.98,1.16),P=0.11].Meanwhile,six studies suggested that there is no significant difference between moxibustion and acupuncture on VAS score[mean difference(MD)=-0.43,95%CI(-0.91,0.05),P=0.08].Eight studies implied that there is no significant difference between moxibustion and acupuncture on JOA score[MD=0.84,95%CI(-1.27,2.96),P=0.44].Two studies indicated that moxibustion may have equivalent effects for treating LDH in the VAS score in comparison with drug therapy[MD=-1.16,95%CI(-2.63,0.31),P=0.12].The evidence level of results was determined to be very low to low.CONCLUSIONS:Based on the existing evidence,moxibustion may not be suitable for treating LDH alone,but it may be applied as an adjuvant treatment.Furthermore,well-designed RCTs with high quality and larger samples are still needed to evaluate the efficacy and safety of moxibustion alone for LDH treatment.YAO Yao ZHAO Zhenni CHEN Fengqin LENG Yufei PANG Xiangtian XU Xiao SUN Zhiling 2023Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,1:3
9Scaled-up synthesis of defect-rich layered double hydroxide monolayers without organic species for efficient oxygen evolution reaction显示文摘The scaled-up synthesis of organic-free monolayer nanomaterials is highly desirable,especially in obtaining green energy by electrocatalysis.In this study,a method for the scaled-up synthesis of the series of monolayer layered double hydroxides(LDHs)without the addition of organic solvents is reported via the separate nucleation and aging steps process.The resulting monolayer LDHs with the thicknesses of less than 1 nm showed a narrow thickness distribution.X-ray absorption fine-structure revealed that monolayer NiFe-LDH nanosheets have a number of oxygen and metal vacancies defects.As a practical application,monolayer NiFe-LDH nanosheets containing defects showed an enhanced electrocatalytic water oxidation activity compared with that of bulk NiFe-LDH.Density functional theory calculations uncovered that excellent catalytic activity is attributed to vacancies defects.The proposed method is an economical and universally applicable strategy for the scaled-up production of monolayer LDHs.Haoyuan Chi Jingwen Dong Tian Li Sha Bai Ling Tan Jikang Wang Tianyang Shen Guihao Liu Lihong Liu Luyi Sun Yufei Zhao Yu-Fei Song 2022Green Energy & Environment2022,7,5:2
10Mechanical activation of spike fosters SARS-CoV-2 viral infection显示文摘The outbreak of SARS-CoV-2(SARS2)has caused a global COVID-19 pandemic.The spike protein of SARS2(SARS2-S)recognizes host receptors,including ACE2,to initiate viral entry in a complex biomechanical environment.Here,we reveal that tensile force,generated by bending of the host cell membrane,strengthens spike recognition of ACE2 and accelerates the detachment of spike’s S1 subunit from the S2 subunit to rapidly prime the viral fusion machinery.Mechanistically,such mechano-activation is fulfilled by force-induced opening and rotation of spike’s receptor-binding domain to prolong the bond lifetime of spike/ACE2 binding,up to 4 times longer than that of SARS-S binding with ACE2 under 10 pN force application,and subsequently by force-accelerated S1/S2 detachment which is up to~103 times faster than that in the no-force condition.Interestingly,the SARS2-S D614G mutant,a more infectious variant,shows 3-time stronger force-dependent ACE2 binding and 35-time faster force-induced S1/S2 detachment.We also reveal that an anti-S1/S2 non-RBD-blocking antibody that was derived from convalescent COVID-19 patients with potent neutralizing capability can reduce S1/S2 detachment by 3×106 times under force.Our study sheds light on the mechano-chemistry of spike activation and on developing a non-RBD-blocking but S1/S2-locking therapeutic strategy to prevent SARS2 invasion.Wei Hu Yong Zhang Panyu Fei Tongtong Zhang Danmei Yao Yufei Gao Jia Liu Hui Chen Qiao Lu Tenny Mudianto Xinrui Zhang Chuxuan Xiao Yang Ye Qiming Sun Jing Zhang Qi Xie Pei-Hui Wang Jun Wang Zhenhai Li Jizhong Lou Wei Chen 2021Cell Research2021,31,10:2

12Association between thyroid hormone levels and frailty in the community-dwelling oldest-old: a cross-sectional study显示文摘Background:Changes in thyroid hormone levels are commonly recognized characters among the elderly,which were reported to potentially influence incident frailty.Therefore,we examined the cross-sectional associations of thyroid hormones(THs)with frailty as well as the five components characterizing frailty(fatigue,resistance,ambulation,number ofillnesses,and loss of weight)among the oldest-old.Methods:Four hundred and eighty-seven community-dwelling oldest-old from a local community in Haidian District,Beijing,participated in our recruitment campaign between April 2019 and May 2020.The primary outcomes were a definitive diagnosis of frailty according to the FRAIL scale(Fatigue,Resistance,Ambulation,Illnesses,Loss of weight)and a positive score for each frailty subdomain.Demographic information(age,sex,marital status,and educational status),comorbidities,and details on the participants lifestyles were recorded.Serum THs including free triodothyronin(fT3),triiodothyronine(T3),free thyroxine(fT4),and thyroxine(T4)and thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH)levels were also measured at the beginning of our study.Logistic regressions were conducted to screen for potential risk factors for frailty and its subdomains.Results:Among the total 487 subjects at enrollment,60(12.23%)of them were diagnosed with subclinical hypothyroidism and 110(22.59%)of the total population scored positive for frailty.Logistic regression analyses adjusted for all potential confounders,showed that frailty was significantly associated with the serum TSH concentration(odds ratio[OR]:1.06),fT3 concentration(OR:0.54),and subclinical hypothyroidism score(OR:2.18).The association between fT4 and frailty was absent in our observational study.The fT3/fT4 ratio characterizing peripheral hormone conversion was also tested to be correlated with frailty.Conclusion:Subclinical hypothyroidism,higher TSH level,lower fT3 level,and decreased fT3/fT4 ratio were all associated with frailty assessed by the FRAIL scale among the community-dwelling oldest-old,suggesting a relevant role of thyroid function in aging.Future longitudinal studies are warranted to determine the casual relationship between thyroid dysfunction and frailty in the oldest-old.Bo Guan Jiakun Luo Xin Huang Fan Tian Shasha Sun Yufei Ma Yan Yu Ruihan Liu Jian Cao Li Fan 2022Chinese Medical Journal2022,135,16:2
13Assessment of wheat chlorophyll content by the multiple linear regression of leaf image features显示文摘The measurement of crop nutrition is considerably significant in agricultural practices,especially in the application of mechanized variable rate fertilization.Feature extraction and model building are two important links in crop nutrition measurement by digital image.In this paper,a feature set of fusion multi-colour space in field prototype is extracted and an evaluation approach using stepwise-based ridge regression(SBRR)that uses correlation-based evaluation method is employed.First the image features of three known colour spaces are extracted,meanwhile a new colour space named rgb is constructed according to the characteristics that RGB colour space easily affected by light.Then the SBRR with nested cross validation is used to find the best evaluation model.By performance evaluation,the optimal SBRR model is obtained(R^(2)=0.718 RMSE=5.111).Additionally,compared with two other nutritional evaluation approach named backpropagation artificial neural network(BP-ANN)and k-nearest neighbors(KNN),SBRR achieves better performance in both R^(2) and RMSE.Furthermore the proposed model’s reliability is verified using the image dataset taken from the same wheat field in the next year.The R^(2) and RMSE values are 0.794 and 4.304,respectively.The comparisons and verification show that our proposed SBRR approach can achieve better experimental results and can be considered a reliable and low-cost alternative for estimating the chlorophyll content of wheat leaves in field.Yufei Song Guifa Teng Yingchun Yuan Tianzhen Liu Zhimei Sun 2021Information Processing in Agriculture2021,8,2:2
14Effects of water stress on quality and sugar metabolism in'Gala'apple fruit显示文摘Sugar plays an important role in apple fruit development,appearance and quality as well as contributing to a plant’s water stress response.Trehalose and the trehalose biosynthetic metabolic pathways are part of the sugar signaling system in plants,which are important regulator of water stress response in apple.The effect of water stress treatments applied to apple trees and the corresponding effects of ABA on developmental fruit quality were examined for indicators of fruit quality during fruit development.The results indicated that the severe water stress treatment(W2)occurring after the last stage of fruit cell division caused a decrease in the color and size of fruit.The moderate water stress(W1)occurring after the last stage of fruit cell enlargement(S2)caused an increase in the content of fructose and sorbitol while the apple fruit shape was not affected.These changes in sugar are related to the activity of sugar metabolic enzymes.While the enzymatic activity of vacuolar acid invertase(vAINV)was higher,that of sucrose-phosphate synthase(SPS)was lower in water stress treated fruit throughout the developmental period.This indicates that enhanced sucrose degradation and reduced sucrose synthesis leads to an overall reduced sucrose content during times of drought.Thus,water stress reduced sucrose content.Whereas the content of endogenous trehalose and ABA were the highest in water stress treated fruit.A moderate water stress(W1)imposed on apple trees via water restriction(60%–65%of field capacity)after the fruit cell enlargement phase of fruit development yielded sweeter fruit of higher economic value.Hongxia Tao Hanqing Sun Yufei Wang Xin Wang Yanping Guo 2023Horticultural Plant Journal2023,9,1:2

17Direct laser patterning of two-dimensional lateral transition metal disulfide-oxide-disulfide heterostructures for ultrasensitive sensors显示文摘Two-dimensional(2D)heterostructures based on the combination of transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDs)and transition metal oxides(TMOs)have aroused growing attention due to their integrated merits of both components and multiple functionalities.However,nondestructive approaches of constructing TMD-TMO heterostructures are still very limited.Here,we develop a novel type of lateral TMD-TMO heterostructure(NbS2-Nb2O5-NbS2)using a simple lithography-free,direct laser-patterning technique.The perfect contact of an ultrathin TMO channel(Nb2O5)with two metallic TMDs(NbS2)electrodes guarantee strong electrical signals in a two-terminal sensor.Distinct from sensing mechanisms in separate TMOs or TMDs,this sensor works based on the modulation of surface conduction of the ultrathin TMO(Nb2O5)channel through an adsorbed layer of water molecules.The sensor thus exhibits high selectivity and ultrahigh sensitivity for room-temperature detection of NH3(ΔR/R=80%at 50 ppm),superior to the reported NH3 sensors based on 2D materials,and a positive temperature coefficient of resistance as high as 15%–20%/℃.Bending-invariant performance and high reliability are also demonstrated in flexible versions of sensors.Our work provides a new strategy of lithography-free processing of novel TMD-TMO heterostructures towards high-performance sensors,showing great potential in the applications of future portable and wearable electronics.Bolun Wang Hao Luo Xuewen Wang Enze Wang Yufei Sun Yu-Chien Tsai Jinxuan Dong Peng Liu Huanglong Li Yong Xu Sefaattin Tongay Kaili Jiang Shoushan Fan Kai Liu 2020Nano Research2020,13,8:1

19Programmed death ligand-1 regulates angiogenesis and metastasis by participating in the c-JUN/VEGFR2 signaling axis in ovarian cancer显示文摘Background:Although programmed cell death-ligand 1(PD-L1)plays a wellknown function in immune checkpoint response by interacting with programmed cell death-1(PD-1),the cell-intrinsic role of PD-L1 in tumors is still unclear.Here,we explored the molecular regulatory mechanism of PD-L1 in the progression and metastasis of ovarian cancer.Methods:Immunohistochemistry of benign tissues and ovarian cancer samples was performed,followed by migration,invasion,and angiogenesis assays in PDL1-knockdown ovarian cancer cells.Immunoprecipitation,mass spectrometry,and chromatin immunoprecipitation were conducted along with zebrafish and mouse experiments to explore the specific functions and mechanisms of PD-L1 in ovarian cancer.Results:Our results showed that PD-L1 induced angiogenesis,which further promoted cell migration and invasion in vitro and in vivo of ovarian cancer.Mechanistically,PD-L1 was identified to directly interact with vascular endothelial growth factor receptor-2(VEGFR2)and then activated the FAK/AKT pathway,which further induced angiogenesis and tumor progression,leading to poor prognosis of ovarian cancer patients.Meanwhile,PD-L1 was found to be regulated by the oncogenic transcription factor c-JUN at the transcriptional level,which enhanced the expression of PD-L1 in ovarian cancer.Furthermore,we demonstrated that PD-L1 inhibitor durvalumab,combined with the antiangiogenic drug,apatinib,could enhance the effect of anti-angiogenesis and the inhibition of cell migration and invasion.Conclusion:Our results demonstrated that PD-L1 promoted the angiogenesis and metastasis of ovarian cancer by participating in the c-JUN/VEGFR2 signaling axis,suggesting that the combination of PD-L1 inhibitor and antiangiogenic drugs may be considered as a potential therapeutic approach for ovarian cancer patients.Yufei Yang Lingfang Xia Yong Wu Hongyu Zhou Xin Chen Haoran Li Midie Xu Zihao Qi Ziliang Wang Huizhen Sun Xi Cheng 2021Cancer Communications2021,41,6:1
