2Source apportionment of ambient PM_(10) in urban areas of Wuxi,China显示文摘A total of 168 PM_(10)samples were collected during the year of 2005 at eight sites in the city of Wuxi in China.Fifteen chemical elements,three water-soluble ions,total carbon and organic carbon were analyzed.Six source categories were identified and their contributions to ambient PM_(10)in Wuxi were estimated using a nested chemical mass balance method that reduces the effects of colinearity on the chemical mass balance model.In addition,the concentrations of secondary aerosols,such as secondary organic carbon,sulfate and nitrate,were quantified.The spatially averaged PM_(10)was high in the spring and winter(123μg·m^(-3)and low in the summer-fall(90μg·m^(-3)).According to the result of source apportionment,resuspended dust was the largest contributor to ambient PM_(10),accounting for more than 50%of the PM_(10)mass.Coal combustion(14.6%)and vehicle exhaust(9.4%)were also significant source categories of ambient PM_(10).Construction and cement dust,sulfates,secondary organic carbon,and nitrates made contributions ranging between 4.1%and 4.9%.Other source categories such as steel manufacturing dust and soil dust made low contributions to ambient PM_(10).Bo HAN Xiaohui BI Yonghua XUE Jianhui WU Tan ZHU Baogui ZHANG Jianqing DING Yuanxin DU 2011Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2011,5,4:5

7Efficacy and mechanisms of Dingxian pill(定痫丸)combined with valproic acid on pentylenetetrazol-induced chronic epilepsy in rats显示文摘OBJECIVE:To investigate the efficacy and mechanisms of Dingxian pill(定痫丸)combined with valproic acid(VPA)on pentylenetetrazol-induced chronical epilepsy in rats.METHODS:A rat model of epilepsy was established by administering pentylenetetrazol(PTZ)water solution(35 mg/kg).Rats were divided into 4 groups,among which three groups were treated with different drugs once a day for 28 d including Dingxian pill(2.4 g/kg),VPA(0.2 g/kg),or a combination of Dingxian pill(2.4 g/kg)and VPA(0.2 g/kg)respectively,and the control group was given the same volume of saline.Rats in different groups were compared based on animal behavior,electroencephalograms,Morris water maze,immunohistochemistry,transcriptomics and real-time polymerase chain reaction.RSULTS:The combination therapy of Dingxian pill and VPA inhibited PTZ-induced seizure-like behavior and reduced seizure grades more significantly than VPA alone.Compared with the control group,the learning and memory ability of chronic PTZ-induced epileptic rats was improved in all the drug treatment groups,especially in the group that received both Dingxian pill and VPA.Similar to the results of MWM tests,expression of the neuroexcitability marker gene c-Fos was reduced after Dingxian pill and/or VPA treatment,and the effect was most pronounced in the combined treatment group.Transcriptomic analysis revealed that gene expression in the rodent hippocampus,which is involved in epilepsy,was upregulated by combined treatment with Dingxian pill and VPA,compared with VPA treatment alone.CONCLUSION:Our results not only highlight the antiepileptic effects of combined Dingxian pill and VPA treatment,but also shed light on the underlying molecular mechanisms and provide a way to apply Traditional Chinese Medicine in the treatment of epilepsy.QU Dongxiao GE Yiqin ZHUO Limin CHEN Liji XUE Yonghua CHENG Jiwei TAO Jie LI Guoyi ZHU Yudan XIAO Qian 2023Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,2:0
8Glioma cell membrane camouflaged cinobufotalin delivery system for combinatorial orthotopic glioblastoma therapy显示文摘Glioblastoma(GBM)belongs to the deadliest primary malignancies with high mortality rate and poor prognosis.Over the past decades,less progress has been made to treat GBM,owing largely to the lack of effective chemotherapeutics and poor drug accumulation in the glioma tissue.In order to address this issue,we present an efficient biomimetic nanocomposite(Cu_(2−x)Se-CB@MEM,CCM),consisting of Cu_(2−x)Se nanoparticle core modified by cinobufotalin(CB),a toad venom extract,which is camouflaged with glioma cell Ln229 membrane.It is demonstrated that CB can decrease the protein activity of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase 1(IMPDH1),a key target correlated with prognosis,through intermolecular hydrogen bonding with amino acid residues ARG-105 and ASP-77.The glioma cell membrane-camouflage endows the CCM with blood-brain barrier penetration and homology tumor-targeted ability.The optimized cinobufotalin based chemotherapy combining with the near-infrared-II(NIR-II)irradiation shows outstanding inhibition effect to glioma cells,by blocking cell cycle and inducing apoptosis.In vivo mice bearing orthotopic Ln229 GBM treated with CCM+NIR-II(CCM+L)have significantly suppressed tumor growth and extended survival,without side effect.The glioma cell membrane camouflaged nanocomposite of Cu_(2−x)Se and cinobufotalin with its significant anti-glioma property and well biosafety will provide novel alternatives for clinical treatment of GBM.Zibin Song Liqian Zhao Weiyi Fang Siyun Guo Anqi Xu Zhengming Zhan Yonghua Cai ShuaiShuai Xue Peng Chai Qiuhua Jiang Peng Zhao Ye Song 2023Nano Research2023,16,8:0
9A phylogenetic approach identifies patterns of beta diversity and floristic subregions of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau显示文摘Patterns of taxonomic and phylogenetic beta diversity and their relationships with environmental correlates can help reveal the origin and evolutionary history of regional biota.The Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP)harbors an exceptionally diverse flora,however,a phylogenetic perspective has rarely been used to investigate its beta diversity and floristic regions.In this study,we used a phylogenetic approach to identify patterns of beta diversity and quantitatively delimit floristic regions on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau.We also examined the relationships between multifaceted beta diversity,geographical distance,and climatic difference,and evaluated the relative importance of various factors(i.e.,climate,topography and history)in shaping patterns of beta diversity.Sørensen dissimilarity indices indicated that patterns of species turnover among sites dominated the QTP.We also found that patterns of both taxonomic and phylogenetic beta diversity were significantly related to geographical distance and climatic difference.The environmental factors that contributed most to these patterns of beta diversity include annual precipitation,mean annual temperature,climatic gradients and climatic instability.Hierarchical dendrograms of dissimilarity and non-metric multidimensional scaling ordination based on phylogenetic beta diversity data identified ten floristic subregions in the QTP.Our results suggest that the contemporary environment and historical climate changes have filtered species composition among sites and eventually determined beta diversity patterns of plants in the QTP.Haibin Yu Man Yang Zixin Lu Weitao Wang Fangyuan Yu Yonghua Zhang Xue Yin Hongjun Yu Junjie Hu David C.Deane 2024Plant Diversity2024,46,1:0
10Effects of Shenlian formula(参连方)on microbiota and inflammatory cytokines in adults with type 2 diabetes:a double-blind randomized clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVES:To observe the efficacy of Shenlian formula(SL formula,参连方),which consist of Huanglian(Rhizoma Coptidis)and Renshen(Radix Ginseng),in the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)and explore the effects on gut microbiota and serum inflammatory cytokines.METHODS:In a double-blind,randomized,placebocontrolled parallel-group clinical trial,31 adults with T2DM were randomly allocated to receive the SL formula or placebo for 12 weeks.Body mass index(BMI),blood lipid indices,glycemic biomarkers including glycated hemoglobin(HbA1C),fasting plasma glucose(FPG),postprandial blood glucose(PBG),fasting insulin levels(FIL),fasting C-peptide(C-P),homoeostasis model assessment for insulin resistance(HOMA-IR)and inflammatory cytokines were assessed at baseline and 12 weeks.The contents of gut microbiota were determined by pyrosequencing of the V3-V4 regions of 16S rRNA genes.RESULTS:Sixteen cases were allocated in the treatment group and 15 in the placebo group.Compared with the placebo,SL formula resulted in a higher significant reduction in PBG[(-1.318±0.772)vs(-0.008±1.404)mmol/L,P=0.003],BMI[(-0.611±0.524)vs(0.957±2.212)kg/m2,P=0.01],FIL[(-1.627±6.268)vs(3.976±6.85)μIU/mL,P=0.02],HOMA-IR[(-0.530±1.461)vs(1.511±2.288),P=0.006],and C-reactive protein(CRP)[(-1.307±0.684)vs(0.828±0.557)mg/L,P=0.04].In terms of gut microbiota,compared with the placebo,the SL formula resulted in a significant decrease in species richness and evenness.CONCLUSIONS:The SL formula showed the efficacy to improve postprandial blood glucose,insulin resistance,BMI and CRP levels.In addition,it could reduce the total number,richness and evenness of species,meanwhile increase the abundance of probiotics to modulate the structure of gut microbiota in patients with T2DM.However,further studies are required for exploring the deeper mechanism of TCM on gut microbiota.JIANG Li FU Qiang WANG Shidong ZHAO Jinxi CHEN Yu LI Jiayue XIAO Yonghua HUANG Weijun SUN Ruixi XIAO Yao SHEN Aijia WANG Junheng LIU Jiangteng FU Xiaozhe LI Yuanyuan ZHAO Yu XUE Taiqi 2023Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2023,43,4:0
