| 1 | Relocation of the M8.0 Wenchuan earthquake and its aftershock sequence显示文摘We relocated M8.0 Wenchuan earthquake and 2706 aftershocks with M≥2.0 using double-difference algorithm and obtained relocations of 2553 events. To reduce the influence of lateral variation in crustal and upper mantle velocity structure, we used different velocity models for the east and west side of Longmenshan fault zone. In the relocation process, we added seismic data from portable seismic sta-tions close to the shocks to constrain focal depths. The precisions in E-W, N-S, and U-D directions after relocation are 0.6, 0.7, and 2.5 km respectively. The relocation results show that the aftershock epi-centers of Wenchuan earthquake were distributed in NE-SW direction, with a total length of about 330 km. The aftershocks were concentrated on the west side of the central fault of Longmenshan fault zone, excluding those on the north of Qingchuan, which obviously deviated from the surface fault and passed through Pingwu-Qingchuan fault in the north. The dominant focal depths of the aftershocks are between 5 and 20 km, the average depth is 13.3 km, and the depth of the relocated main shock is 16.0 km. The depth profile reveals that focal depth distribution in some of the areas is characterized by high-angle westward dipping. | 2 | Unsteady Turbulent Simulation and Pressure Fluctuation Analysis for Centrifugal Pumps显示文摘The pressure fluctuation in the flow passage of both impeller and casing is addressed on design condition.The initial conditions for the unsteady turbulent simulation are resulted from the steady calculations, and the three dimensional unsteady turbulent simulation concerning the rotor-stator interaction is executed by a Navier-Stoke solver embedded with k-ε turbulence model and with appropriate moving interface boundary conditions.Detecting points are distributed in the flow passage in different radial and circumferential positions to capture the static pressure fluctuation character for one cycle of the impeller.The time-domain spectrums show that the static pressure curves are periodic and have five peaks and five valleys.With the radius increasing, the pressure fluctuation peak-to-peak values in the impeller are increasing, and reach the maximum value on the interface.In the casing flow passage, those values are about 7% of local static pressure except some ones near the tongue.The values become decreasingly in the diffuser pipe.The frequency spectrums transformed by fast Fourier transform(FFT) show that the dominant frequency is approximate with the blade passing frequency, and the pressure fluctuations in impeller passage have high frequency content while those in casing ones have no such information. | YUAN Shouqi NI Yongyan PAN Zhongyong YUAN Jianping | 2009 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2009,22,1: | 48 |
| 3 | The state-of-the-art of the China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite mission显示文摘The China Seismo-Electromagnetic Satellite(CSES) mission was proposed in 2003 and approved in 2013 after ten years' scientific and engineering demonstrations. To meet the requirement of scientific objectives, the satellite is designed to be in a sunsynchronous orbit with an altitude of 507 km and descending node time of 14:00 LT. The CSES satellite carries 8 instruments,including search-coil magnetometer(SCM), electric field detector(EFD), high precision magnetometer(HPM), GNSS occultation receiver(GOR), plasma analyzer package(PAP), langmuir probe(LAP), high energetic particle package(HEPP) and detector(HEPD), and tri-band beacon(TBB), among which HEPD is provided by Italian Space Agency. The CSES satellite was launched successfully on February 2, 2018, and is planned to operate for 5 years. | 8 | Numerical and Experimental Study on Flow-induced Noise at Blade-passing Frequency in Centrifugal Pumps显示文摘With the increasing noise pollution,low noise optimization of centrifugal pimps has become a hot topic.However,experimental study on this problem is unacceptable for industrial applications due to unsustainable cost.A hybrid method that couples computational fluid dynamics(CFD)with computational aeroacoustic software is used to predict the flow-induced noise of pumps in order to minimize the noise of centrifugal pumps in actual projects.Under Langthjem’s assumption that the blade surface pressure is the main flow-induced acoustic source in centrifugal pumps,the blade surface pressure pulsation is considered in terms of the acoustical sources and simulated using CFX software.The pressure pulsation and noise distribution in the near-cutoff region are examined for the blade-passing frequency(BPF)noise,and the sound pressure level(SPL)reached peaks near the cutoff that corresponded with the pressure pulsation in this region.An experiment is performed to validate this prediction.Four hydrophones are fixed to the inlet and outlet ports of the test pump to measure the flow-induced noise from the four-port model.The simulation results for the noise are analyzed and compared with the experimental results.The variation in the calculated noise with changes in the flow agreed well with the experimental results.When the flow rate was increased,the SPL first decreased and reached the minimum near the best efficient point(BEP);it then increased when the flow rate was further increased.The numerical and experimental results confirmed that the BPF noise generated by a blade-rotating dipole roughly reflects the acoustic features of centrifugal pumps.The noise simulation method in current study has a good feasibility and suitability,which could be adopted in engineering design to predict and optimize the hydroacoustic behavior of centrifugal pumps. | YANG Jun YUAN Shouqi YUAN Jianping SI Qiaorui PEI Ji | 2014 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2014,27,3: | 16 |

| 11 | Numerical simulation of leading edge cavitation within the whole flow passage of a centrifugal pump显示文摘In this paper, the periodically unsteady pressure field and head-drop phenomenon caused by leading edge cavitation have been investigated numerically by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) in a single stage centrifugal pump. A CFD model for cavitation steady and unsteady simulation has been calculated using the k-ω SST turbulence model combining with a multiphase approach, based on a homogeneous model assumption. A truncated form of Rayleigh-Plesset equation is used as a source term for the inter-phase mass transfer. The CFD computational region includes the suction cone, impeller, side chambers and volute, as well as suction and pressure pipes. The results were compared with experimental data under non-cavitation and cavitation conditions and a good agreement was obtained for the global performance, the experimental data of the head and the efficiency are 34.04 m and 74.42% at BEP, respectively, the predicted head is 34.31 m and the predicted efficiency is 73.75%. The analysis of inner flow pattern shows that the vortex flow generation in the rear of cavity region is the main reason of the head-drop. Obvious increasing can be observed for the amplitude of the pressure fluctuation at the blade passing frequency with different cavitation situations, and subpeak can be found. Besides, the effects of unsteady flow in the side chambers cannot be neglected for accurately predicting the inner flow of the pump. | 12 | The climate influence of anthropogenic land-use changes on near-surface wind energy potential in China显示文摘There is considerable interest in the potential impact of climate change on wind energy in China. The climate change of near-surface wind energy potential in China under the background of global warming and its association with anthropogenic land-use changes are investigated by calculating the difference in surface wind speeds between the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data and the observations since the re- analysis dataset contains the influence of large-scale climate changes due to greenhouse gases, it is less sensitive to regional surface processes associated with land types. The surface wind data in this study consist of long-term observations from 604 Chinese Roution Meteorological Stations and the NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data from 1960―1999. The results suggest that the observed mean wind speeds significantly weakened and the near-surface wind power trended downward due to urbanization and other land-use changes in the last 40 years. | 13 | Numerical Investigation on Fluid Structure Interaction Considering Rotor Deformation for a Centrifugal Pump显示文摘The existing research for unsteady flow field and the corresponding flow induced vibration analysis of centrifugal pump are mainly carried out respectively without considering the interaction between fluid and structure. The ignorance of fluid structure interaction (FSI) means that the energy transfer between fluid and structure is neglected. To some extent, the accuracy and reliability of unsteady flow and rotor deflection analysis should be affected by this interaction mechanism. In this paper, a combined calculation between two executables for turbulent flow and vibrating structure was established using two-way coupling method to study the effect of FSI. Pressure distributions, radial forces, rotor deflection and equivalent stress are analyzed. The results show that the FSI effect to pressure distribution in flow field is complex. The pressure distribution is affected not only around impeller outlet where different variation trends of pressure values with and without FSI appear according to different relative positions between blade and cutwater, but also in the diffusion section of volute. Variation trends of peak values of radial force amplitude calculated with and without FSI are nearly same under high flow rate and designed conditions while the peak value with FSI is slightly smaller, and differently, the peak value with FSI is larger with low flow rate. In addition, the effect of FSI on the angle of radial force is quite complex, especially under 0.5Q condition. Fluctuation of radial deflection of the rotor has obvious four periods, of which the extent is relatively small under design condition and is relatively large under off-design condition. Finally, fluctuations of equivalent stress with time are obvious under different conditions, and stress value is small. | 16 | Comparative analysis of astaxanthin and its esters in the mutant E1 of Haematococcus pluvialis and other green algae by HPLC with a C30 column显示文摘A gradient reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) method using a C30 col-umn was developed for the simultaneous determination of astaxanthin, astaxanthin monoesters and astaxanthin diesters in the green algae Chlorococcum sp., Chlorella zofingiensis, Haematococcus plu-vialis and the mutant E1, which was obtained from the mutagenesis of H. pluvialis by exposure to UV-irradiation and ethyl methanesulphonate (EMS) with subsequent screening using nicotine. The re-sults showed that the contents of total astaxanthins including free astaxanthin and astaxanthin esters ranged from 1.4 to 30.9 mg/g dry biomass in these green algae. The lower total astaxanthin levels (< 2 mg/g dry biomass) were detected in the green algae Chlorococcum sp. and C. zofingiensis. The higher total astaxanthin levels (>16 mg/g dry biomass) were found in the green alga H. pluvialis and its mutant E1. It is notable that the mutant E1 is found to have considerably higher amounts of total astaxanthin (30.9 mg/g) as compared to the wild strain of H. pluvialis (16.1 mg/g). This indicates that UV-irradiation and EMS compound mutagenesis with subsequent screening using nicotine is an effective method for breeding of a high-producing astaxanthin strain of H. pluvialis. In addition, the green alga C. zofingien-sis had a remarkably higher percentage of astaxanthin diesters (76.3% of total astaxanthins) and a re-markably lower percentage of astaxanthin monoesters (18.0% of total astaxanthins) in comparison with H. pluvialis (35.5% for diesters and 60.9% for monoesters), the mutant E1 (49.1% and 48.1%) and Chlorococcum sp. | 18 | An Early Cretaceous Avialian Bird, Shenzhouraptor sinensis from Western Liaoning, China显示文摘This paper describes an avialian bird from the Early Cretaceous Jiufotang Formation in Yixian county,western Liaoning, China, which is named as Shenzhouraptor sinensis by Ji et al. on July 15, 2002. Shenzhouraptor sinensis is characterized by no teeth in its mouth, the forelimbs longer than the hindlimbs, a long tail with more than 23 caudal vertebrae, U-shaped wishbone, and remiges longer than the total length of ulna and manus. | 19 | Features of the fault system and its relationship with migration and accumulation of hydrocarbon in Liaodong Bay显示文摘The fault system of Liaodong Bay developed extensively under the control of the Tanlu Fault.The fault system can be grouped into strike-slip faults of grade I,trunk faults of grade II and branch faults (induced faults) of grade III respectively based on its developmental scale.The faults of grade I and II were deep,early and large while the faults of grade III were shallow,late and small.The formation,evolution and distribution features played a significant role in controlling the migration of oil and gas in both horizontal and vertical directions.The fluid transfer in the fault system occurred in the process of faulting.The strike-slip and trunk faults moved actively forming predominant pathways for oil and gas migration.The branch faults,with weak activity,generally controlled the development of traps and were beneficial for the accumulation and preservation of oil and gas.The faults of grade I and II formed the major migration pathways for oil and gas,but their fault activity rates appeared to vary along their strikes.The zones with a relatively low fault activity rate might be favorable for oil and gas accumulation.When the activities of strike-slip,trunk,and branch faults came to a halt,the fault seal behavior had a vitally important effect on the accumulation of oil and gas.The controlling role of the fault over fluid distribution was further analyzed by calculating the fault activity quantitatively. | Xu Guosheng Ma Ruolong Gong Deyu Zhou Donghong Li Jianping Guo Yonghua Yuan Haifeng Wu Changrong | 2011 | Petroleum Science2011,8,3: | 8 |
| 20 | An Overview of Mineral Dust Modeling over East Asia显示文摘East Asian dust(EAD) exerts considerable impacts on the energy balance and climate/climate change of the earth system through its influence on solar and terrestrial radiation, cloud properties, and precipitation efficiency. Providing an accurate description of the life cycle and climate effects of EAD is therefore critical to better understanding of climate change and socioeconomic development in East Asia and even worldwide. Dust modeling has undergone substantial development since the late 1990 s, associated with improved understanding of the role of EAD in the earth system. Here, we review the achievements and progress made in recent decades in terms of dust modeling research,including dust emissions, long-range transport, radiative forcing(RF), and climate effects of dust particles over East Asia. Numerous efforts in dust/EAD modeling have been directed towards furnishing more sophisticated physical and chemical processes into the models on higher spatial resolutions. Meanwhile, more systematic observations and more advanced retrieval methods for instruments that address EAD related science issues have made it possible to evaluate model results and quantify the role of EAD in the earth system, and to further reduce the uncertainties in EAD simulations. Though much progress has been made, large discrepancies and knowledge gaps still exist among EAD simulations.
