1One-year clinical study of NeuroR egen scaffold implantation following scar resection in complete chronic spinal cord injury patients显示文摘The objective of this clinical study was to assess the safety and feasibility of the collagen scaffold, Neuro Regen scaffold, one year after scar tissue resection and implantation. Scar tissue is a physical and chemical barrier that prevents neural regeneration. However, identification of scar tissue is still a major challenge. In this study, the nerve electrophysiology method was used to distinguish scar tissue from normal neural tissue, and then different lengths of scars ranging from 0.5–4.5 cm were surgically resected in five complete chronic spinal cord injury(SCI) patients. The NeuroR egen scaffold along with autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells(BMMCs), which have been proven to promote neural regeneration and SCI recovery in animal models, were transplanted into the gap in the spinal cord following scar tissue resection. No obvious adverse effects related to scar resection or Neuro Regen scaffold transplantation were observed immediately after surgery or at the 12-month follow-up. In addition, patients showed partially autonomic nervous function improvement, and the recovery of somatosensory evoked potentials(SSEP) from the lower limbs was also detected. 3The action of medicinal animal horns on Escherichia coli growth investigated by microcalorimetry and chemometric analysis显示文摘The action of Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum (CCP), Cornu Cervi (CC) and Cornu Saigae Tataricae (CST) on Escherichia coli growth were investigated using microcalorimetry to find the heat change regularity of microbial growth. The similarity of thermogenic curves and thermodynamics parameters were investigated as evaluation index, such as the growth rate constant in the first expo- nential phase (k1), maximum power in the first exponential phase (P1), maximum power in the secondary exponential phase (P2), peak time in the first exponential phase (T1), peak time in the stationary phase (T2) and the total heat production in stage 1 (Q1), and the total heat production in stage 2 (Q2). Chemometric analysis was used as a reference for the bioactivity evaluation of medicinal animal horns. The results indicated that the similarity between CST and the control was smaller than that between CCP, CC and the control. Both CCP and CC could increase the heat in the microbial growth, whereas CST decreased it. 4Animal diversities and characteristics of environmental change revealed by skeletons unearthed at Zhongba Site of Chongqing City,China显示文摘Nearly 200000 animal skeletons are unearthed in the Unit T0202 from Zhongba Site of Zhongxian County.According to the analysis of 129165 specimens,these skeletons may be classified into 5 kinds, namely,Mammalia,Osteichthys,Aves,Amphibian and Reptilia,which belong to 13 orders,28 families and 42 genera.In this paper,based on archeological dating and AMS 14 C data,through statistically analyzing the unearthed skeletons and studying the change of the smallest individual numbers,these research results detected the following:1)In almost all the time of 2370―200 BC,in Zhongba region, some animals distributed widely,such as Muntiacus sp,Elaphodus cephalophus and Muntiacus sp. inhabiting in glade and grassland,Scrofa sp.and Canis familiaris raised by the ancient people,rodentia rabbit and Rattus rattus,which suggested that a fairly good ecological environment of forest and grassland was preserved at that period and the predecessors began to raise domestic animals from 1750 to 1000 BC,which has lasted until today.2)Rhinoceros only lived during 2000―1750 BC,1000― 700 BC and 700―500 BC,which indicates that the ecological environment of grassland and wetland might be better in these phases.3)Macaca sp.and Ursus arctos appeared only after 1750―1000 BC, which may show that the forest condition is better for animals to live during 1750―200 BC.4)The smallest individual numbers of Bublus sp.,bos sp.and otters emerged during about 2370―1750 BC, which perhaps infers that water area during the early period was wider than that of the late period.5) Since skeletons of rhinoceros are discovered in strata of Zhongba Site during 2000―1750 BC and 1000―500 BC,according to the climate and ecology environment which rhinoceros live in now,the average annual temperature and precipitation during 2000―1750 BC and 1000―500 BC are supposed to be probably higher than that of today.Although Zhu Kezhen considered that the first low temperature period in the past 5000 years of China was between 1100 BC and 850 BC,massive pollen of Morus, Ulmus,Fagus,Quercus,Castanea,etc.were found in Dajiuhu peat at that time,which should indicate that the climate was still moderate for living things to live at least in Dajiuhu basin and Zhongba Site.6) Because skeletons of Gervus albirostris were unearthed during 310―200 BC at Zhongba Site,based onthe climate and the ecological environment those animals live in now,the average annual temperature and the average annual precipitation in Zhongba area between 310 BC and 200 BC should be lower than those of today,which is confirmed by the TOC research of Zhongba Site strata.ZHU Cheng MA ChunMei OUYANG Jie LI ZhongXuan YIN Qian SUN ZhiBin HUANG YunPing R.K.FLAD LI Lan LI YuMei 2008Chinese Science Bulletin2008,53,S1:4
5A Novel Model of Predicting Archie's Cementation Factor from Nuclear Magnetic Resonance(NMR) Logs in Low Permeability Reservoirs显示文摘The resistivity experimental measurements of core samples drilled from low permeability reservoirs of Ordos Basin,Northwest China,illustrate that the cementation factors are not agminate,but vary from 1.335 to 1.749.This leads to a challenge for the estimation of water and hydrocarbon saturation.Based on the analysis of Purcell equation and assumption that rock resistivity is determined by the parallel connection of numerous capillary resistances,a theoretical expression of cementation factor in terms of porosity and permeability is established.Then,cementation factor can be calculated if the parameters of porosity and permeability are determined.In the field application,porosity can be easily obtained by conventional logs.However,it is a tough challenge to estimate permeability due to the strong heterogeneity of low permeability reservoirs.Thus,the Schlumberger Doll Research(SDR)model derived from NMR logs has been proposed to estimate permeability.Based on the analysis of the theoretical expressions of cementation factor and SDR model,a novel cementation factor prediction model,which is relevant to porosity and logarithmic mean of NMR T2spectrum(T2lm),is derived.The advantage of this model is that all the input information can be acquired from NMR logs accurately.In order to confirm the credibility of the novel model,the resistivity and corresponding laboratory NMR measurements of 27 core samples are conducted.The credibility of the model is confirmed by comparing the predicted cementation factors with the core analyzed results.The absolute errors for all core samples are lower than 0.071.Once this model is extended to field application,the accuracy of water and hydrocarbon saturation estimation will be significantly improved.Liang Wang Zhiqiang Mao Yujiang Shi Qin'e Tao Yumei Cheng Yong Song 2014Journal of Earth Science2014,25,1:4
6Long-term clinical observation of patients with acute and chronic complete spinal cord injury after transplantation of Neuro Regen scaffold显示文摘Spinal cord injury(SCI)often results in an inhibitory environment at the injury site.In our previous studies,transplantation of a scaffold combined with stem cells was proven to induce neural regeneration in animal models of complete SCI.Based on these preclinical studies,collagen scaffolds loaded with the patients’own bone marrow mononuclear cells or human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells were transplanted into SCI patients.Fifteen patients with acute complete SCI and 51 patients with chronic complete SCI were enrolled and followed up for 2 to 5 years.No serious adverse events related to functional scaffold transplantation were observed.Among the patients with acute SCI,five patients achieved expansion of their sensory positions and six patients recovered sensation in the bowel or bladder.Additionally,four patients regained voluntary walking ability accompanied by reconnection of neural signal transduction.Among patients with chronic SCI,16 patients achieved expansion of their sensation level and 30 patients experienced enhanced reflexive defecation sensation or increased skin sweating below the injury site.Nearly half of the patients with chronic cervical SCI developed enhanced finger activity.These long-term follow-up results suggest that functional scaffold transplantation may represent a feasible treatment for patients with complete SCI.Fengwu Tang Jiaguang Tang Yannan Zhao Jiaojiao Zhang Zhifeng Xiao Bing Chen Guang Han Na Yin Xianfeng Jiang Changyu Zhao Shixiang Cheng Ziqiang Wang Yumei Chen Qiaoling Chen Keran Song Zhiwei Zhang Junjie Niu Lingjun Wang Qin Shi Liang Chen Huilin Yang Shuxun Hou Sai Zhang Jianwu Dai 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,5:3
7Nitrogen-doped Co_(3)O_(4) nanowires enable high-efficiency electrochemical oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural显示文摘Developing highly efficient and cost-effective catalysts for electrochemically oxidizing biomass-derived 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(HMF)into value-added 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid(FDCA)is of great importance.Herein,we report a controllable nitrogen doping strategy to significantly improve the catalytic activity of Co_(3)O_(4)nanowires for highly selective electro-oxidation of HMF into FDCA.The nitrogen doping leads to the generation of defects including nitrogen dopants and oxygen vacancies in Co_(3)O_(4)nanowires,which is conducive to the formation of catalytically active sites.As a result,the electro-oxidation potential for HMF is only 1.38 V(vs.RHE)when the current density reaches 50 mA/cm^(2).More importantly,the conversion rate of HMF is as high as 99.5%,and the yield of FDCA is up to 96.4%.Mengxiao Sun Yue Wang Chunsen Sun Yan Qi Jia Cheng Yumei Song Lixue Zhang 2022Chinese Chemical Letters2022,33,1:2
8Carbon and nitrogen stable isotope analyses of mammal bone fossils from the Zhongba site in the Three Gorges Reservoir region of the Yangtze River,China显示文摘Based on AMS 14 C dating data,carbon and nitrogen isotope analyses were conducted on mammal bone collagen of deer,cattle and pigs from the Zhongba site in the Three Gorges Reservoir region of the Yangtze River.These analyses were conducted to reconstruct palaeodiets of mammals,palaeoecology,palaeoenviroment and previous human activities in the study area.Results show that the collagen loss of bone did not change the in vivo isotopic composition of carbon and nitrogen stable isotopes,and most of the bone fossils were well preserved.The bone collagen of samples from deer had a mean δ 13 C of-23.1‰ and a mean δ 15 N of 4.7‰,suggesting that deer subsisted in a closed habitat and fed on branches and leaves.The bone collagen of cattle had a mean δ 13 C of-19.6‰ and a mean δ 15 N of 5.2‰,which indicates that cattle subsisted in an open habitat and fed on grasses and stems.The δ 13 C values show that both deer and cattle fed on C 3 plants and lived in the same ecosystem,but the t-test results show that deer δ 13 C and δ 15 N values were both more negative than those of cattle,indicating that they inhabited different niches.The δ 13 C and δ 15 N values of cattle partially overlapped those of deer,suggesting some competition in diets between them.The t-tests show that the δ 13 C and δ 15 N values of pigs were more positive than those of cattle and deer,which signifies that pigs occupied a higher trophic level compared to cattle and deer.The wide range of pig δ 13 C values demonstrates that pig trading had been taking place from early Neolithic Age to late Bronze Age.There were no significant differences in deer δ 13 C and δ 15 N values among different archaeological periods,making it clear that climatic,ecological and environmental conditions were kept relatively stable from 2200 to 4200 a BP.This stability may have been responsible for the extensive and complete cultural layers at the Zhongba site.The minimum number of samples required to estimate the mean δ 13 C values of deer,pigs and cattle are 8,73 and 16,respectively,and for mean δ 15 N values of deer,pigs and cattle,the minimum numbers are 4,5 and 6,respectively.TIAN XiaoSi ZHU Cheng SUN ZhiBin SHUI Tao HUANG YunPing FLAD Rowan Kimon LI YuMei 2011Chinese Science Bulletin2011,56,2:2
9Ingeniously designed Ni-Mo-S/ZnIn_(2)S_(4) composite for multi-photocatalytic reaction systems显示文摘Molybdenum disulfide (MoS_(2)) with low cost, high activity and high earth abundance has been found to be a promising catalyst for the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER), but its catalytic activity is considerably limited due to its inert basal planes. Here, through the combination of theory and experiment, we propose that doping Ni in MoS_(2) as catalyst can make it have excellent catalytic activity in different reaction systems. In the EY/TEOA system, the maximum hydrogen production rate of EY/Ni-Mo-S is 2.72 times higher than that of pure EY, which confirms the strong hydrogen evolution activity of Ni-Mo-S nanosheets as catalysts. In the lactic acid and Na_(2)S/Na_(2)SO_(3) systems, when Ni-Mo-S is used as co-catalyst to compound with ZnIn_(2)S_(4) (termed as Ni-Mo-S/ZnIn_(2)S_(4)), the maximum hydrogen evolution rates in the two systems are 5.28 and 2.33 times higher than those of pure ZnIn_(2)S_(4), respectively. The difference in HER enhancement is because different systems lead to different sources of protons, thus affecting hydrogen evolution activity. Theoretically, we further demonstrate that the Ni-Mo-S nanosheets have a narrower band gap than MoS_(2), which is conducive to the rapid transfer of charge carriers and thus result in multi-photocatalytic reaction systems with excellent activity. 16A genome wide association study between copy number variation (CNV) and human height in Chinese population显示文摘Copy number variation (CNV) is a type of genetic variation which may have important roles in phenotypic variability and disease susceptibility. To hunt for genetic variants underlying human height variation, we performed a genome wide CNV association study for human height in 618 Chinese unrelated subjects using Affymetrix 500K array set. After adjusting for age and sex, we found that four CNVs at 6p21.3, 8p23.3-23.2, 9p23 and 16p12.1 were associated with human height (with borderline significant p value: 0.013, 0.011, 0.024, 0.049; respectively). However, after multiple tests correction, none of them was associated with human height. We observed that the gain of copy number (more than 2 copies) at 8p23.3-23.2 was associated with lower height (normal copy number vs. gain of copy number: 161.2 cm vs. 153.7 cm, p = 0.011), which accounted for 0.9% of height variation. Loss of copy number (less than 2 copies) at 6p21.3 was associated with 0.8% lower height (loss of copy number vs. normal copy number: 154.5 cm vs. 161.1 cm, p = 0.013). Since no important genes influencing height located in CNVs at loci of 8p23.3-23.2 and 6p21.3, the two CNVs may cause the structural rear- rangements of neighbored important candidate genes, thus regulates the variation of height. 18The performance of nitrate-reducing Fe(Ⅱ)oxidation processes under variable initial Fe/N ratios:The fate of nitrogen and iron species显示文摘The Fe/N ratio is an important control on nitrate-reducing Fe(Ⅱ)oxidation processes that occur both in the aquatic environment and in wastewater treatment systems.The response of nitrate reduction,Fe oxidation,and mineral production to different initial Fe/N molar ratios in the presence of Paracoccus denitrificans was investigated in 132 h incubation experiments.A decrease in the nitrate reduction rate at 12 h occurred as the Fe/N ratio increased.Accumulated nitrite concentration at Fe/N ratios of 2–10 peaked at 12–84 h,and then decreased continuously to less than 0.1 mmol/L at the end of incubation.N_(2)O emission was promoted by high Fe/N ratios.Maximum production of N_(2) occurred at a Fe/N ratio of 6,in parallel with the highest mole proportion of N_(2) resulting from the reduction of nitrate(81.2%).XRD analysis and sequential extraction demonstrated that the main Fe minerals obtained from Fe(Ⅱ)oxidation were easily reducible oxides such as ferrihydrite(at Fe/N ratios of 1–2),and easily reducible oxides and reducible oxides(at Fe/N ratios of 3–10).The results suggest that Fe/N ratio potentially plays a critical role in regulating N_(2),N_(2)O emissions and Fe mineral formation in nitrate-reducing Fe(II)oxidation processes.Boyi Cheng Yi Wang Yumei Hua Kate V.Heal 2021Frontiers of Environmental Science & Engineering2021,15,4:1
19Spatial-Temporal Change of Phytoplankton Biomass in the East China Sea with MODIS Data显示文摘A ten-year chlorophyll-a concentration dataset from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectro-radiometer(MODIS) were used to analyze the variation of phytoplankton biomass and its potential relation with climate in the East China Sea. The result indicated that the phytoplankton biomass generally had a regular pattern every year, and phytoplankton bloom mainly occurred between May and July. The highest phytoplankton biomass appeared near the Yangtze River Estuary. The lowest phytoplankton biomass located near the Taiwan Strait. In general, the starting bloom time was earlier in the south than in the north, and the span time of the former was also longer. During the recent ten years, the phytoplankton biomass around the Yangtze River Estuary decreased obviously. The change of phytoplankton biomass was found to be related with the Ni?o3.4 Index. 20Natural products for infectious microbes and diseases:an overview of sources,compounds,and chemical diversities显示文摘As coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19) threatens human health globally,infectious disorders have become one of the most challenging problem for the medical community.Natural products(NP) have been a prolific source of antimicrobial agents with widely divergent structures and a range of vast biological activities.A dataset comprising 618 articles,including 646 NP-based compounds from 672 species of natural sources with biological activities against 21 infectious pathogens from five categories,was assembled through manual selection of published articles.These data were used to identify 268 NP-based compounds classified into ten groups,which were used for network pharmacology analysis to capture the most promising lead-compounds such as agelasine D,dicumarol,dihydroartemisinin and pyridomycin.The distribution of maximum Tanimoto scores indicated that compounds which inhibited parasites exhibited low diversity,whereas the chemistries inhibiting bacteria,fungi,and viruses showed more structural diversity.A total of 331 species of medicinal plants with compounds exhibiting antimicrobial activities were selected to classify the family sources.The family Asteraceae possesses various compounds against C.neoformans,the family Anacardiaceae has compounds against Salmonella typhi,the family Cucurbitacea against the human immunodeficiency virus(HIV),and the family Ancistrocladaceae against Plasmodium.This review summarizes currently available data on NPbased antimicrobials against refractory infections to provide information for further discovery of drugs and synthetic strategies for anti-infectious agents.Lu Luo Jun Yang Cheng Wang Jie Wu Yafang Li Xu Zhang Hui Li Hui Zhang Yumei Zhou Aiping Lu Shilin Chen 2022Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,6:1
