| 1 | Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis of essential oils from five parts of Chaihu(Radix Bupleuri Chinensis)显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To analyze the essential oils from flowers, leaves, stems, roots, and fruits of Chaihu(Radix Bupleuri Chinensis).METHODS: We extracted essential oils from different parts of Chaihu(Radix Bupleuri Chinensis) using a steam distillation method. The essential oils were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GC-MS). Data were collected in full scan mode(m/z 60-600). Volatile components were identified based on their retention indices and by comparing their mass spectra with those in the National Institute of Standards and Technology 2005 database assisted by tandem mass spectrometry information. The relative content of each constituent wasdetermined by area normalization.RESULTS: We identified 111 components, of which12 were common to all 5 parts, 30 were found only in roots, 14 were found only in flowers, 6 were found only in leaves, 4 were found only in stems,and 17 were found only in fruits.CONCLUSION: Our results show that the stems,flowers, leaves, and fruits of Chaihu(Radix Bupleuri Chinensis)contain a high concentration of essential oils, and that the exact composition of the essential oils differs among the plant parts. To develop new medicines and make full use of the Chaihu(Radix Bupleuri Chinensis)resource, it is important to characterize the essential oils from different parts of the plant. | 2 | Efficacy and safety of low-dose interleukin-2 in combination with methotrexate in patients with active rheumatoid arthritis:a randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled phase 2 trial显示文摘Rheumatoid arthritis(RA)is an aggressive autoimmune arthritis,and current therapies remain unsatisfactory due to low remission rate and substantially adverse effects.Low-dose interleukin-2(Ld-IL2)is potentially a therapeutic approach to further improve the disease.This randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled trial was undertaken to evaluate the efficacy and safety of Ld-IL2 in patients with active RA.Patients were randomly assigned(1:1)to receive Ld-IL2,defined as a dose of 1 million IU,or placebo in a 12-week trial with a 12-week follow-up.Three cycles of Ld-IL2 or placebo were administered subcutaneously every other day for 2 weeks(a total of 7 doses),followed by a 2-week break.All patients received a stable dose of methotrexate(MTX).The primary outcomes were the proportion of patients achieving the ACR20,DAS28-ESR<2.6,and the change from baseline in CDAI or SDAI at week 24.Secondary endpoints included other clinical responses and safety.The primary outcomes were achieved in the perprotocol population.The improvements from baseline in CDAI and SDAI were significantly greater across time points for the LdIL2+MTX group(n=17)than for the placebo+MTX group(n=23)(P=0.018 and P=0.015,respectively).More patients achieved ACR20 response in the Ld-IL2+MTX group than those in the placebo+MTX group at week 12(70.6%vs 43.5%)and at week 24(76.5%vs 56.5%)(P=0.014).In addition,low Treg and high IL-21 were associated with good responses to Ld-IL2.Ld-IL-2 treatment was well-tolerated in this study.These results suggested that Ld-IL2 was effective and safe in RA.ClinicalTrials.gov number:NCT 02467504. | Xiaoying Zhang Miao Miao Ruijun Zhang Xu Liu Xiaozhen Zhao Miao Shao Tian Liu Yuebo Jin Jiali Chen Huixin Liu Xia Zhang Yun Li Yunshan Zhou Yue Yang Ru Li Haihong Yao Yanying Liu Chun Li Yuhui Li Limin Ren Yin Su Xiaolin Sun Jing He Zhanguo Li | 2022 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2022,7,4: | 7 |

| 4 | Enhanced production of seed oil with improved fatty acid composition by overexpressing NAD^(+)-dependent glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase in soybean显示文摘There is growing interest in expanding the production of soybean oils(mainly triacylglycerol, or TAG) to meet rising feed demand and address global energy concerns. We report that a plastidlocalized glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase(GPDH), encoded by GmGPDHp1 gene, catalyzes the formation of glycerol-3-phosphate(G3 P), an obligate substrate required for TAG biosynthesis.Overexpression of GmGPDHp1 increases soybean seed oil content with high levels of unsaturated fatty acids(FAs), especially oleic acid(C18:1), without detectably affecting growth or seed protein content or seed weight. Based on the lipidomic analyses, we found that the increase in G3 P content led to an elevated diacylglycerol(DAG) pool, in which the Kennedy pathwayderived DAG was mostly increased, followed by PC-derived DAG, thereby promoting the synthesis of TAG containing relatively high proportion of C18:1. The increased G3 P levels induced several transcriptional alterations of genes involved in the glycerolipid pathways. In particular, genes encoding the enzymes responsible for de novo glycerolipid synthesis were largely upregulated in the transgenic lines, in-line with the identified biochemical phenotype. | 6 | A new tumor-associated antigen prognostic scoring system for spontaneous ruptured hepatocellular carcinoma after partial hepatectomy显示文摘Objective:Spontaneous hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)rupture can be fatal,and hepatic resection could achieve a favorable long-term survival among all strategies of tumor rupture.However,there is no available prognostic scoring system for patients with ruptured HCC who underwent partial hepatectomy.Methods:From January 2005 to May 2015,129 patients with spontaneous HCC rupture underwent partial hepatectomy.Preoperative clinical data were collected and analyzed.Independent risk factors affecting overall survival(OS)were used to develop the new scoring system.Harrell’s C statistics,Akaike information criterion(AIC),the relative likelihood,and the log likelihood ratio were calculated to measure the homogeneity and discriminatory ability of a prognostic system.Results:In the multivariable Cox regression analysis,three factors,including tumor size,preoperativeα-fetoprotein level,and alkaline phosphatase level,were chosen for the new tumor-associated antigen(TAA)prognostic scoring system.The 1-year OS rates were 88.1%,43.2%,and 30.2%for TAA scores of 0–5 points(low-risk group),6–9 points(moderate-risk group),and 10–13points(high-risk group),respectively.The TAA scoring system had superior homogeneity and discriminatory ability(Harrell’s C statistics,0.693 vs.0.627 and 0.634;AIC,794.79 vs.817.23 and 820.16;relative likelihood,both<0.001;and log likelihood ratio,45.21 vs.22.77 and 21.84)than the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer staging system and the Cancer of the Liver Italian Program in predicting OS.Similar results were found while predicting disease-free survival(DFS).Conclusions:The new prognostic scoring system is simple and effective in predicting both OS and DFS of patients with spontaneous ruptured HCC. | Jingjing Wu Peng Zhu Zhanguo Zhang Bixiang Zhang Chang Shu Lin Chen Renjie Feng Abdoul aziz Mba'nbo koumpa Ganxun Li Qianyun Ge | 2018 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2018,15,4: | 4 |

| 11 | SPM-IS: An auto-algorithm to acquire a mature soybean phenotype based on instance segmentation显示文摘Mature soybean phenotyping is an important process in soybean breeding;however, the manual process is time-consuming and labor-intensive. Therefore, a novel approach that is rapid, accurate and highly precise is required to obtain the phenotypic data of soybean stems, pods and seeds. In this research, we propose a mature soybean phenotype measurement algorithm called Soybean Phenotype Measure-instance Segmentation(SPM-IS). SPM-IS is based on a feature pyramid network, Principal Component Analysis(PCA) and instance segmentation. We also propose a new method that uses PCA to locate and measure the length and width of a target object via image instance segmentation. After 60,000 iterations, the maximum mean Average Precision(m AP) of the mask and box was able to reach 95.7%. The correlation coefficients R^(2) of the manual measurement and SPM-IS measurement of the pod length, pod width, stem length, complete main stem length, seed length and seed width were 0.9755, 0.9872, 0.9692, 0.9803,0.9656, and 0.9716, respectively. The correlation coefficients R^(2) of the manual counting and SPM-IS counting of pods, stems and seeds were 0.9733, 0.9872, and 0.9851, respectively. | 16 | Research on the photoluminescence of spectral broadening by rapid thermal annealing on InAs/GaAs quantum dots显示文摘Photoluminescence (PL) test was conducted to investigate the effect of rapid thermal annealing (RTA) on the opticalperformance of self-assembled InAs/GaAs quantum dots (QDs) at the temperatures of 16 and 300 K. It was found that after RTAtreatment, the PL spectrum of the QDs sample had a large blue-shift and significantly broadened at 300 K. Compared with theas-grown InAs QDs sample, the PL spectral width has increased by 44.68 meV in the InAs QDs sample RTA-treated at800 ℃. | 18 | Electrochemical Removal of Chlorophenol Pollutants by Reactive Electrode Membranes: Scale-Up Strategy for Engineered Applications显示文摘Chlorophenols(CPs)are significant refractory pollutants that are highly toxic to humans and other organ-isms.Reactive electrode membranes(REMs)show considerable potential in the electrochemical removal of refractory pollutants by allowing flow-through operations with convection-enhanced mass transfer.However,relevant studies are commonly performed on the laboratory scale,and there is no straightfor-ward method that guarantees success in scaling up engineered REM reactors.In this study,we demon-strated that a tubular concentric electrode(TCE)configuration with a titanium suboxide ceramic anode and a stainless-steel cathode is suitable for large-scale CPs removal.Both theoretical and experi-mental results showed that the TCE configuration not only allows the electrode surface to be orthogonal to electric field lines everywhere,but also has an ohmic resistance that is inversely proportional to the length of the electrode.In addition,the TCE configuration can be operated in either the anode-to-cathode(AC)or the cathode-to-anode(CA)mode based on the flow direction,creating adjustable condi-tions for selective degradation of CPs.This was confirmed by 98%removal of 2,4-dichlorophenol(2,4-DCP)and 72.5%removal of chemical oxygen demand(COD)in the CA mode,in which the kinetic constant was one order of magnitude higher than that for the AC mode under flow-through single-pass operations.This can be explained by the lower activation energy and free energy in the CA mode,as revealed by the-oretical calculations and experimental measurements.The TCE configuration is also suitable for a numbering-up strategy to scale up the electrochemical reactor without increasing the ohmic resistance or decreasing the specific electrode area,achieving 99.4%removal of 2,4-DCP with an energy consump-tion of 1.5 kW·h·m^(-3) when three TCE modules were employed.This study presents a suitable electrode design configuration for the REM reactor,offering effective strategies to bridge the“Valley of Death”encountered when scaling up the electrochemical removal of CP pollutants. | Shuzhao Pei Yi Wang Shijie You Zhanguo Li Nanqi Ren | 2022 | Engineering2022,8,2: | 1 |
