2Low-cost and high safe manganese-based aqueous battery for grid energy storage and conversion显示文摘As an effective energy storage technology, rechargeable batteries have long been considered as a promising solution for grid integration of intermittent renewables(such as solar and wind energy). However,their wide application is still limited by safety issue and high cost. Herein, a new battery chemistry is proposed to satisfy the requirements of grid energy storage. We report a simple Cu-Mn battery, which is composed of two separated current collectors in an H2SO4-CuSO4-MnSO4 electrolyte without using any membrane. The Cu-Mn battery shows an energy density of 40.8 Wh L-1, a super-long life of 10,000 cycles(without obvious capacity decay) and negligible self-discharge. And the capital cost of US$ 11.9 kWh-1 based on electrolyte is lower than any previous batteries. More importantly, the battery can still work smoothly during thermal abuse test and drill-through test, showing high safe nature. 3Geology,Geochemistry and Minerogenesis of the Shijuligou Zinc-Copper Deposit in Gansu,China显示文摘The Shijuligou deposit was separated by an arcuate ductile shear zone cross the center of the deposit region, resulting in the difference between the southern and northern ore bodies. The lead (Pb) isotopic data of ores of the Shijuligou copper deposit have averages of 206Pb/204Pb, 207Pb/204Pb, and 208Pb/204Pb in 17.634, 15.444, and 37.312, respectively. It has been shown that ore-forming metals originated from intrusive and extrusive rocks in the upper part of ophiolites. The sulfur isotopic data of pyrite and chalcopyrite in the northern part change from +7.61‰ to +8.09‰ and +4.95‰ to +8.88‰ in the southern part. Isotopes of δ18O in the Shijuligou copper deposit are between +11.1‰ and +18.6‰, with the calculated δ18OH2O at +0.65‰. It is suggested that the mineralized fluid is a mixture of magma fluid, meteorological water, and seawater through circulating and leaching metals from the volcanic rocks. The zircon uranium-lead (U-Pb) dating of gabbro is 457.9±1.2 Ma, and the lower crossing age of the discordant and concordia curves of pyroxene spilite of zircon is 454±15 Ma. It is indicated that the Shijuligou deposit formed in a new ocean crust (ophiolite) of the back-arc basin in the late Ordovician. Mineralization should occur in the intermittence period after strong volcanic activity, and the age should be the late Ordovician. Moreover, the mineralization of ophiolite-hosted massive sulfide deposits in the ancient orogenic belt of the late Ordovician in the northern Qilian Mountains was controlled by the primary fault/fracture, with the forming of a metallogenic hydrothermal system by a mixture of volcanic magma fluid and seawater, which circularly leached the metallogenic metals from the volcanic rocks, resulting in their accumulation. The ore bodies were transformed with morphology and metallogenic elements. Jasperoid is an important sign for prospecting such deposits. There were many island arcs in the continent of China. 4The effect of mechanical loads on the degradation of aliphatic biodegradable polyesters显示文摘Aliphatic biodegradable polyesters have been the most widely used synthetic polymers for developing biodegradable devices as alternatives for the currently used permanent medical devices.The performances during biodegradation process play crucial roles for final realization of their functions.Because physiological and biochemical environment in vivo significantly affects biodegradation process,large numbers of studies on effects of mechanical loads on the degradation of aliphatic biodegradable polyesters have been launched during last decades.In this review article,we discussed the mechanism of biodegradation and several different mechanical loads that have been reported to affect the biodegradation process.Other physiological and biochemical factors related to mechanical loads were also discussed.The mechanical load could change the conformational strain energy and morphology to weaken the stability of the polymer.Besides,the load and pattern could accelerate the loss of intrinsic mechanical properties of polymers.This indicated that investigations into effects of mechanical loads on the degradation should be indispensable.More combination condition of mechanical loads and multiple factors should be considered in order to keep the degradation rate controllable and evaluate the degradation process in vivo accurately.Only then can the degradable devise achieve the desired effects and further expand the special applications of aliphatic biodegradable polyesters.Ying Li Zhaowei Chu Xiaoming Li Xili Ding Meng Guo Haoran Zhao Jie Yao Lizhen Wang Qiang Cai Yubo Fan 2017Regenerative Biomaterials2017,4,3:2
5The binding epitope of sintilimab on PD-1 revealed by AbMap显示文摘PD-1 plays an important role as an immune checkpoint.Sintilimab is a newly approved PD-1 antibody for cancer immunotherapy with an unknown binding epitope on PD-1.In this study,to elucidate the molecular mechanism by which sintilimab blocks PD-1 activation,we applied Antibody binding epitope Mapping(AbMap)to identify the binding epitope of sintilimab.An epitope was successfully identified,i.e.SLAPKA,aa 127-132.By constructing a series of point mutations,the dominant residues S127,L128,A129,P130,and A132 of PD-1 were further validated by western blot analysis,biolayer interferometry,and flow cytometry.Structural analysis showed that the epitope is partially within the binding interface of PD-1 and PD-L1,and this epitope also partially overlaps with that of nivolumab and pembrolizumab.These results demonstrate that sintilimab can attenuate PD-1 activation by directly competing with the interaction between PD-1 and PD-L1 through binding with the key residues of the FG loop on PD-1.This study also demonstrates the high efficiency and accuracy of AbMap for determining the binding epitope of therapeutic antibodies.Mingliang Ma Huan Qi Chuansheng Hu Zhaowei Xu Fanlin Wu Nan Wang Danyun Lai Yang Li Hainan Zhang Hewei Jiang Qingfeng Meng Shujuan Guo Yani Kang Xiaodong Zhao Hua Li Sheng-ce Tao 2021Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2021,53,5:1
6ADVISING score:a reliable grading scale based on injury and response for intracerebral haemorrhage显示文摘Background Intracerebral haemorrhage(ICH)is the most devastating form of stroke causing high morbidity and mortality.We aimed to develop a novel clinical score incorporating multisystem markers to predict functional dependence at 90 days after ICH.Methods We analysed data from Chinese Cerebral Hemorrhage:Mechanism and Intervention study.Multivariable logistic regression analysis was used to identify the factors associated with 90-day functional dependency(the modified Rankin Scale≥3)after ICH and develop the ADVISING scoring system.To test the scoring system,a total of 2111 patients from Hubei province were included as the training cohort,and 733 patients from other three provinces in China were included as an external validation cohort.Results We found nine variables to be significantly associated with functional dependency and included in the ADVISING score system:age,deep location of haematoma,volume of haematoma,National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale,aspartate transaminase,international normalised ratio,neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio,fasting blood glucose and glomerular filtration rate.Individuals were divided into 12 different categories by using these nine potential predictors.The proportion of patients who were functionally dependent increased with higher ADVISING scores,which showed good discrimination and calibration in both the training cohort(C-statistic,0.866;p value of Hosmer-Lemeshow test,0.195)and validation cohort(C-statistic,0.884;p value of Hosmer-Lemeshow test,0.853).The ADVISING score also showed better discriminative performance compared with the other five existing ICH scores(p<0.001).Conclusions ADVISING score is a reliable tool to predict functional dependency at 90 days after ICH.Yan Wan Hongxiu Guo Shaoli Chen Jiang Chang David Wang Rentang Bi Man Li Ke Shi Zhaowei Wang Daokai Gong Jingwen Xu Quanwei He Bo Hu 2023Stroke & Vascular Neurology2023,8,2:0

8Melatonin alleviates valproic acid-induced neural tube defects by modulating Src/PI3K/ERK signaling and oxidative stress显示文摘Neural tube defects(NTDs)represent a developmental disorder of the nervous system that can lead to significant disability in children and impose substantial social burdens.Valproic acid(VPA),a widely prescribed first-line antiepileptic drug for epilepsy and various neurological conditions,has been associated with a 4-fold increase in the risk of NTDs when used during pregnancy.Consequently,urgent efforts are required to identify innovative pre-vention and treatment approaches for VPA-induced NTDs.Studies have demonstrated that the disruption in the delicate balance between cell proliferation and apoptosis is a crucial factor contributing to NTDs induced by VPA.Encouragingly,our current data reveal that melatonin(MT)significantly inhibits apoptosis while promoting the restoration of neuroepithelial cell proliferation impaired by VPA.Moreover,further investigations demonstrate that MT substantially reduces the incidence of neural tube malformations resulted from VPA exposure,primarily by suppressing apoptosis through the modulation of intracellular reactive oxygen species levels.In addition,the Src/PI3K/ERK signaling pathway appears to play a pivotal role in VPA-induced NTDs,with significant inhibition ob-served in the affected samples.Notably,MT treatment successfully reinstates Src/PI3K/ERK signaling,thereby offering a potential underlying mechanism for the protective effects of MT against VPA-induced NTDs.In summary,our current study substantiates the considerable protective potential of MT in mitigating VPA-triggered NTDs,thereby offering valuable strategies for the clinical management of VPA-related birth defects.Yuxiang Liang Ying Wang Xiao Zhang Shanshan Jin Yuqian Guo Zhaowei Yu Xinrui Xu Qizhi Shuai Zihan Feng Binghong Chen Ting Liang Ruifang Ao Jianting Li Juan Zhang Rui Cao Hong Zhao Zhaoyang Chen Zhizhen Liu Jun Xie 2024Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2024,56,1:0
9The bone alterations in hind limb amputation rats in vivo显示文摘Osteoporosis,which is characterized by bone loss,increases the risk of fractures and s and seriously affected the amputee’s health.Muscle mass is an important factor affecting bone mineral density(BMD).Muscular atrophy and decreased muscle mass can cause BMD to fall.The bone quantity and quality are used to assess by Microcomputer tomography(micro-CT)with non-destructive.To investigate the performance of micro-CT in evaluating amputation-induced osteopenia in rats,the micro-CT was used to evaluate the change of the microstructure in trabecular bone and cortical bone of amputation.Muscle morphology was analyzed by micro-CT and transmission electron microscopy.Female Sprague–Dawley rats(8 week old)were divided into two groups:control(CON)groups and left hind limb amputation(LHLA).At 35 days,microstructure and volumetric bone mineral density(vBMD)of the tibia and femur were detected through micro-CT.The results showed:(1)the trabecular and cortical vBMD of the proximal tibia and distal femur in the LHLA group were significantly lower than those in the CON group.(2)Compared with the CON group,the trabecular number,bone volume fraction and trabecular thickness of proximal tibia and distal femur in LHLA group decreased significantly,whereas the trabecular separation,structure model index and bone surface/bone volume increased significantly in LHLA group.(3)The whole cross-sectional area(CSA)of whole calf muscles of left limb in LHLA group decreased significantly compared with CON group.In general,hind limb amputation could cause bone loss,changes in the microstructure of trabecular bone and muscle atrophy.Micro-CT is sensitive in evaluating bone microstructure destruction caused by amputation,and can be used for early diagnosis or monitor the development of bone loss in amputation in vivo.Huiqin Luan Huiru gu Zhongjun Mo Weiyan Ren Huan Guo Zhaowei Chu Yubo Fan 2020Medicine in Novel Technology and Devices2020,,4:0

11Prevalence and risk factors for minimal hepatic encephalopathy in cirrhotic patients with different etiologies显示文摘Aims:Minimal hepatic encephalopathy(MHE)significantly affects the prognosis of patients with cirrhosis.This study was performed to determine whether there is a difference in the prevalence of MHE among patients with cirrhosis of different etiologies and whether the etiology directly influences the occurrence of MHE.Methods:This multicenter,cross-sectional study enrolled 1879 patients with confirmed cirrhosis at 40 hospitals from October 25,2021,to January 10,2023(Trial registration:https://clinicaltrials.gov/[NCT05140837]).The patients'demographics,etiologies of cirrhosis,and laboratory test results were collected.The psychometric hepatic encephalopathy score(PHES)was determined in all patients to screen for MHE.Multivariate logistic analyses were performed to identify the risk factors for MHE.Results:In total,736 patients with cirrhosis were analyzed.The prevalence of MHE was 42.0%(n=309).The primary etiology among all patients was hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related cirrhosis(71.9%[529/736]).The prevalence of MHE was significantly higher in patients with alcoholic cirrhosis(57.1%[40/70])than in those with HBV-related cirrhosis(40.6%[215/529],p=0.009)or hepatitis C virus(HCV)-related cirrhosis(38.2%[26/68],p=0.026).Age(odds ratio[OR],1.042;95%confidence interval[CI],1.024-1.059;p<0.001),duration of education(OR,0.935;95%CI,0.899-0.971;p=0.001),etiology(OR,1.740;95%CI,1.028-2.945;p=0.039),and high MELD-Na scores(OR,1.038;95%CI,1.009-1.067;p=0.009)were independent risk factors for MHE.When patients with cirrhosis of different etiologies were analyzed separately,the results showed that age(OR,1.035;95%CI,1.014-1.057;p=0.001)and duration of education(OR,0.924;95%CI,0.883-0.966;p=0.001)were risk factors for MHE among patients with HBV-related cirrhosis,whereas age(OR,1.138;95%CI,1.033-1.254;p=0.009)and creatinine concentration(OR,16.487;95%CI,1.113-244.160;p=0.042)were risk factors for MHE in patients with HCV-related cirrhosis.No risk factors for MHE were found in patients with autoimmune cirrhosis.For patients with alcoholic cirrhosis,the platelet count(OR,1.014;95%CI,1.000-1.027;p=0.045)was a risk factor for MHE.The PHES subtest results were inconsistent among patients who had MHE with cirrhosis of different etiologies.Patients with HBV-related cirrhosis performed better on Number Connection Test B and the serial dotting test than those with alcoholic cirrhosis(p=0.007 and p<0.001),better on Number Connection Test B than those with HCV-related cirrhosis(p=0.020),and better on the line tracing test than those with autoimmune cirrhosis(p=0.037).Conclusion:The etiology of cirrhosis affected the prevalence of MHE and risk factors for MHE.The domains of major cognitive impairment varied among patients with cirrhosis of different etiologies.Further studies are required to verify these findings.Xiaoyan Li Shanghao Liu Huiling Xiang Qingge Zhang Ying Guo Hongmei Zu Jing Wang Jiaojian Lv Xiaoning Zhang Fanping Meng Jiahuan Li Jie Li Yangzhen Bianba Jia Shang Guo Zhang Fei Liu Zhaowei Tong Chuang Lei Wei Ye Qiaohua Yang Ningning Wang Ying Song Wei Fu Ziyue Li Yanjing Gao Yongping Zhang Jiafang Chen Caiyun Wu Qi Zheng Fang Wang Jiali Yu Lianjie Lin Chuanlong Yang Xiaoting Yang Xiaomin Ye Xiangmei Wang Xuelan Zhao Xiaolong Qi Fusheng Wang Junliang Fu 2023Portal Hypertension & Cirrhosis2023,2,4:0

13Glycyrrhizic Acid Attenuates Balloon-Induced Vascular Injury Through Inactivation of RAGE Signaling Pathways显示文摘Percutaneous coronary intervention is a well-established technique used to treat coronary artery disease,but the risk of coronary artery in-stent restenosis following percutaneous coronary intervention is still high.Previous studies revealed that high mobility group protein B1(HMGB1)plays a critical role in neointima formation.In this study,we aimed to investigate the role of glycyrrhizic acid(GA),an HMGB1 inhibitor,in the process of neointima formation and the potential mechanisms.We investigated the role of GA in neointima formation through an iliac artery balloon injury model in rabbits.Proliferation,migration,and phenotype transformation of human vascular smooth muscle cells(VSMCs)were observed.Besides,infl ammation and receptor for advanced glycosylation end products(RAGE)signaling pathways were studied.The results indicate that GA attenuated neointima formation and downregulated HMGB1 expression in injured artery in rabbits.HMGB1 promoted proliferation,migration,and phenotype transformation through the activation of RAGE signaling pathways in VSMCs,and blockade of HMGB1 by GA(1,10,and 100μM)could attenuate those processes and reduce proliferation of human VSMCs.In conclusion,the HMGB1 inhibitor GA might be useful to treat proliferative vascular diseases by downregulating RAGE signaling pathways.Our results indicate a new and promising therapeutic agent for restenosis.Zhaowei Zhu Yanan Guo Xuping Li Shuai Teng Xiaofan Peng Pu Zou Shenghua Zhou 2020Cardiovascular Innovations and Applications2020,,2:0
14Clinical Signifi cance of Angiographically Detectable Neovascularity in Patients with Cardiac Myxoma显示文摘Background:Myxomas are the most common primary cardiac tumors.Angiographically detectable neovascularity(ADN)of myxoma is increasingly being reported as a result of the use of coronary angiography(CAG)to detect coronary artery disease.However,the clinical signifi cance of these fi ndings is not fully understood.Methods:We enrolled 59 patients with cardiac myxoma who also underwent CAG between January 2013 and October 2018.Patients were followed up for a mean of 28.9 months(range 1-69 months).The clinical features,echocardiography measurements,pathological examination fi ndings,CAG results,and outcomes during follow-up were compared between patients with ADN and patients without ADN.Results:ADN was found in 25 patients(42.4%).The arteries feeding the ADN included the right coronary artery(n=15),the left circumfl ex coronary artery(n=7),and both arteries(n=3).The patients with ADN had a higher proportion of eosinophils(3.2%vs.2.2%,P=0.03)and higher low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level(2.7 mmol/L vs.2.2 mmol/L,P=0.02).Myxoma pedicles were more likely to be located in the interatrial septum in patients with ADN(96%vs.73.5%,P=0.02).No signifi cant correlation was observed between the groups in clinical manifestations,atrial arrhythmia,myxoma size,cardiac chamber size,left ventricular ejection fraction,and the prevalence of complication with coronary artery disease[16%in the ADN group(n=4)vs.20.6%in the non-ADN group(n=7),P=0.66].However,patients with ADN tended to have a lower incidence of major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events on long-term follow-up(0%vs.14.7%,P=0.07).Conclusion:CAG-detected ADN in patients with cardiac myxoma is associated with a borderline lower rate of major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events.Xiaofan Peng Yichao Xiao Yanan Guo Zhaowei Zhu Liyan Liao Xiaobo Liao Xinqun Hu Zhenfei Fang Xuping Li Shenghua Zhou 2021Cardiovascular Innovations and Applications2021,,4:0
15Hydrogen storage performance of LaNi_(3.95)Al_(0.75)Co_(0.3) alloy with different preparation methods显示文摘Rare-earth AB5-type La–Ni–Al hydrogen storage alloys are widely studied due to their extensive application potentials in hydrogen isotope storage,hydrogen isotope isolation and hydrogen compressors,etc.Good hydriding/dehydriding kinetics,easily activation,high reversibility are important factors for their practical application.However,their overall hydrogen storage performance,especially plateau pressure and hydrogen absorption/desorption durability need to be further optimized.In this study,the microstructures and the hydrogen storage properties of as-cast,annealed,and melt-spun LaNi_(3.95)Al_(0.75)Co_(0.3) alloys were investigated.The experimental results of XRD and SEM showed that all alloys contained a pure CaCu5 type hexagonal structure LaNi_(4)Al phase.The cell volume increased in an order of annealed>melt-spun>as-cast,resulting in a lower hydrogen absorption/desorption plateau pressure and a more stable hydride phase.The hydrogen storage capacity of three alloys was almost the same.The slope factor of the annealed and melt-spun alloys is smaller than the as-cast alloy,indicating that heat-treatment process can make the alloys more uniform.For the cycle stability of the alloys,the hydrogen absorption rate of the annealed alloy and melt-spun alloy was much faster than that of the as-cast alloy after 500 cycles.The melt-spun alloy showed high pulverization resistance during hydrogen absorption/desorption,and exhibited an excellent cycling retention of 99%after 500 cycles,suggesting that melt-spinning process can enhance the cycle stability and improve the cycle life of the alloy.Lijun Lv Jian Lin Guo Yang Zhaowei Ma Linhua Xu Xiujie He Xingbo Han Wei Liu 2022Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2022,32,2:0
16SARS-CoV-2-specific antibody response characteristics in COVID-19 patients of different ages显示文摘Age has been found to be one of the main risk factors for the severity and outcome of COVID-19.However,differences in SARS-CoV-2 specific antibody responses among COVID-19 patients of different age groups remain largely unknown.In this study,we analyzed the IgG/IgM responses to 21 SARS-CoV-2 proteins and 197 peptides that fully cover the spike protein against 731 sera collected from 731 COVID-19 patients aged from 1 to 92 years.We show that there is no overall difference in SARS-CoV-2 antibody responses in COVID-19 patients in the 4 age groups.By antibody response landscape maps,we find that the IgG response profiles of SARS-CoV-2 proteins are positively correlated with age.The S protein linear epitope map shows that the immunogenicity of the S-protein peptides is related to peptide sequence,disease severity and age of the COVID-19 patients.Furthermore,the enrichment analysis indicates that low S1 IgG responses are enriched in patients aged<50 and high S1 IgG responses are enriched in mild COVID-19 patients aged>60.In addition,high responses of non-structural/accessory proteins are enriched in severe COVID-19 patients aged>70.These results suggest the distinct immune response of IgG/IgM to each SARS-CoV-2 protein in patients of different age,which may facilitate a deeper understanding of the immune responses in COVID-19 patients.Linfang Lu Siqi Yu Min Liu Yang Li Qing Lei Mingxi Lin Danyun Lai Shujuan Guo Hewei Jiang Hongyan Hou Yunxiao Zheng Xuening Wang Mingliang Ma Bo Zhang Hong Chen Junbiao Xue Hainan Zhang Huan Qi Ziyong Sun Feng Wang Xionglin Fan Zhaowei Xu 2022Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2022,54,4:0
