| 2 | First six months quality assessment of HY-2A SCAT wind products using in situ measurements显示文摘The first Chinese microwave ocean environment satellite HY-2A,carrying a Ku-band scatteromenter(SCAT),was successfully launched in August 2011.The first quality assessment of HY-2A SCAT wind products is presented through the comparison of the first 6 months operationally released SCAT products with in situ data.The in situ winds from the National Data Buoy Center(NDBC)buoys,R/V Polarstern,Aurora Australis,Roger Revelle and PY30-1 oil platform,were converted to the 10 m equivalent neutral winds.The temporal and spatial differences between the HY-2A SCAT and the in situ observations were limited to less than 5min and 12.5 km.For HY-2A SCAT wind speed products,the comparison and analysis using the NDBC buoys yield a bias of–0.49 m/s,a root mean square error(RMSE)of 1.3 m/s and an increase negative bias with increasing wind speed observation above 3 m/s.Although less accurate of HY-2A SCAT wind direction at low winds,the RMSE of 19.19 with a bias of 0.92 is found for wind speeds higher than 3 m/s.These results are found consistent with those from R/Vs and oil platform comparisons.Moreover,the NDBC buoy comparison results also suggest that the accuracy of HY-2A SCAT winds is consistent over the first half year of 2012.The encouraging assessment results over the first 6 months show that wind products from HY-2A SCAT will be useful for scientific community. | WANG He ZHU Jianhua LIN Mingsen HUANG Xiaoqi ZHAO Yili CHEN Chuntao ZHANG Youguang PENG Hailong | 2013 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2013,32,11: | 10 |
| 3 | Abundance of antibiotic resistance genes and their association with bacterial communities in activated sludge of wastewater treatment plants: Geographical distribution and network analysis显示文摘Wastewater treatment plants(WWTPs) are deemed reservoirs of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs). Bacterial phylogeny can shape the resistome in activated sludge. However, the co-occurrence and interaction of ARGs abundance and bacterial communities in different WWTPs located at continental scales are still not comprehensively understood. Here, we applied quantitative PCR and Miseq sequence approaches to unveil the changing profiles of ARGs(sul1, sul2, tet W, tet Q, tet X), int I1 gene, and bacterial communities in 18 geographically distributed WWTPs. The results showed that the average relative abundance of sul1 and sul2 genes were 2.08 × 10^(-1) and 1.32 × 10^(-1) copies/16 S rRNA copies, respectively. The abundance of tet W gene was positively correlated with the Shannon diversity index(H′), while both studied sul genes had significant positive relationship with the int I1 gene. The highest average relative abundances of sul1, sul2, tet X, and int I1 genes were found in south region and oxidation ditch system. Network analysis found that 16 bacterial genera co-occurred with tet W gene. Co-occurrence patterns were revealed distinct community interactions between aerobic/anoxic/aerobic and oxidation ditch systems. The redundancy analysis model plot of the bacterial community composition clearly demonstrated that the sludge samples were significant differences among those from the different geographical areas,and the shifts in bacterial community composition were correlated with ARGs. | 4 | Pore Structure Characteristics and Permeability of Deep Sedimentary Rocks Determined by Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry显示文摘Pore structure characteristics of rock are a great concern for researchers and practitioners in rock mechanics and rock engineering fields. In this study, mercury intrusion porosimetry(MIP) was used to measure pore size distribution, as well as several important index parameters of pore structure, for seven common types of deep sedimentary rocks with a total of fifty rock samples. Results show a similar pore size distribution pattern of the rock samples in the same lithological group, but remarkable differences among different lithological groups. Among seven investigated rock types, mudstone has the smallest porosity of 3.37%, while conglomerate has the largest value of 18.8%. It is also found that the porosity of rock types with finer grain size is lower than those with coarser grain size. Meanwhile, a comparison of frequency distribution at ten intervals of pore-throat diameter among seven types of sedimentary rocks reveals that different rock types have different dominant pore-size ranges. Furthermore, permeability of the investigated sedimentary rock samples was derived based on MIP data using reported theoretical equations. Among seven rock types, mudstone has the lowest averaged permeability(3.64×10^(-6) mD) while conglomerate has the highest one(8.59×10^(-4) mD). From mudstone to conglomerate, rock permeability increases with an increase of grain size, with only an exception of siltstone which has a relatively larger porosity value. | 6 | The FGOALS climate system model as a modeling tool for supporting climate sciences:An overview显示文摘Climate system models are useful tools for understanding the interactions among the components of the climate system and predicting/projecting future climate change. The development of climate models has been a central focus of the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences(LASG/IAP) since the establishment of the laboratory in 1985. In China, many pioneering component models and fully coupled models of the climate system have been developed by LASG/IAP. The fully coupled climate system developed in the recent decade is named FGOALS(Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System Model). In this paper, an application-oriented review of the LASG/IAP FGOALS model is presented. The improved model performances are demonstrated in the context of cloud-radiation processes, Asian monsoon, ENSO phenomena, Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation(AMOC) and sea ice. The FGOALS model has contributed to both CMIP5(Coupled Model Intercomparison Project-phase 5) and IPCC(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) AR5(the Fifth Assessment Report). The release of FGOALS data has supported the publication of nearly 500 papers around the world. The results of FGOALS are cited ~106 times in the IPCC WG1(Working Group 1) AR5. In addition to the traditional long-term simulations and projections, near-term decadal climate prediction is a new set of CMIP experiment, progress of LAGS/IAP in the development of nearterm decadal prediction system is reviewed. The FGOALS model has supported many Chinese national-level research projects and contributed to the national climate change assessment report. | 11 | Simulation and Improvements of Oceanic Circulation and Sea Ice by the Coupled Climate System Model FGOALS-f3-L显示文摘This study documents simulated oceanic circulations and sea ice by the coupled climate system model FGOALS-f3-L developed at the State Key Laboratory of Numerical Modeling for Atmospheric Sciences and Geophysical Fluid Dynamics,Institute of Atmospheric Physics,Chinese Academy of Sciences,under historical forcing from phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project(CMIP6).FGOALS-f3-L reproduces the fundamental features of global oceanic circulations,such as sea surface temperature(SST),sea surface salinity(SSS),mixed layer depth(MLD),vertical temperature and salinity,and meridional overturning circulations.There are notable improvements compared with the previous version,FGOALS-s2,such as a reduction in warm SST biases near the western and eastern boundaries of oceans and salty SSS biases in the tropical western Atlantic and eastern boundaries,and a mitigation of deep MLD biases at high latitudes.However,several obvious biases remain.The most significant biases include cold SST biases in the northwestern Pacific(over 4°C),freshwater SSS biases and deep MLD biases in the subtropics,and temperature and salinity biases in deep ocean at high latitudes.The simulated sea ice shows a reasonable distribution but stronger seasonal cycle than observed.The spatial patterns of sea ice are more realistic in FGOALS-f3-L than its previous version because the latitude–longitude grid is replaced with a tripolar grid in the ocean and sea ice model.The most significant biases are the overestimated sea ice and underestimated SSS in the Labrador Sea and Barents Sea,which are related to the shallower MLD and weaker vertical mixing. | Yuyang GUO Yongqiang YU Pengfei LIN Hailong LIU Bian HE Qing BAO Bo AN Shuwen ZHAO and Lijuan HUA | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,10: | 3 |
| 12 | Ecological principle meets cancer treatment: treating children with acute myeloid leukemia with low-dose chemotherapy显示文摘Standard chemotherapy regimens for remission induction of pediatric acute myeloid leukemia(AML) are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. We performed a cohort study to determine the impact of reducing the intensity of remission induction chemotherapy on the outcomes of selected children with AML treated with a low-dose induction regimen plus granulocyte colony stimulating factor(G-CSF)(low-dose chemotherapy(LDC)/G-CSF). Complete response(CR) after two induction courses was attained in 87.0%(40/46) of patients receiving LDC/G-CSF. Post-remission therapy was offered to all patients, and included standard consolidation and/or stem cell transplantation. During the study period, an additional 94 consecutive children with AML treated with standard chemotherapy(SDC) for induction(80/94(85.1%) of the patients attained CR after induction Ⅱ, P = 0.953) and post-remission. In this non-randomized study, there were no significant differences in 4-year event-free(67.4 vs. 70.7%;P = 0.99)and overall(70.3 vs. 74.6%, P = 0.69) survival in the LDC/G-CSF and SDC cohorts, respectively. After the first course of induction, recovery of white blood cell(WBC) and platelet counts were significantly faster in patients receiving LDC/G-CSF than in those receiving SDC(11.5 vs. 18.5 d for WBCs(P < 0.001);15.5 vs. 22.0 d for platelets(P < 0.001)). To examine the quality of molecular response, targeted deep sequencing was performed. Of 137 mutations detected at diagnosis in 20 children who attained hematological CR after two courses of LDC/G-CSF(n = 9) or SDC(n = 11), all of the mutations were below the reference value(variant allelic frequency <2.5%) after two courses, irrespective of the treatment group. In conclusion, children with AML receiving LDC/G-CSF appear to have similar outcomes and mutation clearance levels, but significantly lower toxicity than those receiving SDC. | 13 | TGF-β regulation of microRNA miR-497-5p and ocular lens epithelial cell mesenchymal transition显示文摘The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of a human lens microRNA(miR-497-5p) in regulating epithelialmesenchymal transition(EMT) under the control of transforming growth factor beta(TGF-β). A microRNA array was used to evaluate the microRNA profiles of untreated and TGF-β-treated human lens epithelial cells in culture. This showed that TGF-βtreatment led to the upregulation of 96 microRNAs and downregulation of 39 microRNAs. Thirteen microRNAs were predicted to be involved in the pathogenesis of posterior capsule opacification(PCO). Meanwhile, overexpression of miR-497-5p suppressed cell proliferation and EMT 48 h post-transfection, and inhibition of miR-497-5p accelerated cell proliferation and EMT.Treatment with TGF-β inhibited the expression of miR-497-5p, but not cell proliferation. miR-497-5p was also found to regulate the level of CCNE1 and FGF7, which are reported to be actively involved in EMT. CCNE1 and FGF7 were bona fide targets of miR-497-5p. | 14 | Changes in compressed neurons from dogs with acute and severe cauda equina constrictions following intrathecal injection of brain-derived neurotrophic factor-conjugated polymer nanoparticles显示文摘This study established a dog model of acute multiple cauda equina constriction by experimental constriction injury (48 hours) of the lumbosacral central processes in dorsal root ganglia neurons. The repair effect of intrathecal injection of brain-derived neurotrophic factor with 15 mg encapsulated biodegradable poly(lactide-co-glycolide) nanoparticles on this injury was then analyzed. Dorsal root ganglion cells (L7) of all experimental dogs were analyzed using hematoxylin-eosin staining and immunohistochemistry at 1, 2 and 4 weeks following model induction. Intrathecal injection of brain-derived neurotrophic factor can relieve degeneration and inflammation, and elevate the expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor in sensory neurons of compressed dorsal root ganglion. Simultaneously, intrathecal injection of brain-derived neurotrophic factor obviously improved neurological function in the dog model of acute multiple cauda equina constriction. | 15 | Influence of the biological carbon pump effect on the sources and deposition of organic matter in Fuxian Lake, a deep oligotrophic lake in southwest China显示文摘Biological carbon pumping(BCP)is a key process in which dissolved inorganic carbon in terrestrial aquatic ecosystems is utilized by aquatic autotrophs for photosynthesis and transformed into autochthonous organic matter(AOC).However,the mechanisms underlying BCP and the amount of generated AOC deposited effectively,are still poorly understood.Therefore,we conducted a systematic study combining modern hydrochemical monitoring and a sediment trap experiment in Fuxian Lake(Yunnan,SW China),the second-deepest plateau,oligotrophic freshwater lake in China.Temperature,pH,EC(electrical conductivity),DO(dissolved O2),[HCO3^-],[Ca^2+],SIc,partial CO2(pCO2)pressure,and carbon isotopic compositions of HCO3^-(δ^13CDIc)in water from Fuxian Lake all displayed distinct seasonal and vertical variations.This was especially apparent in an inverse correlation between pCO2 and DO,indicating that variations of hydrochemistry in the lake water were mainly controlled by the metabolism of the aquatic phototrophs.Furthermore,the lowest C/N ratios and highestδ^13Corg were recorded in the trap sediments.Analyses of the C/N ratio demonstrated that the proportions of AOC ranged from 30%to 100%of all OC,indicating that AOC was an important contributor to sedimentary organic matter(OC).It was calculated that the AOC flux in Fuxian Lake was 20.43 t C km^-2 in 2017.Therefore,AOC produced by carbonate weathering and aquatic photosynthesis could potentially be a significant carbon sink and may have an important contribution to solving the lack of carbon sinks in the global carbon cycle. | Haibo He Zaihua Liu Chongying Chen Yu Wei Qian Bao Hailong Sun Yundi Hu Hao Yan | 2019 | Acta Geochimica2019,38,5: | 2 |
| 16 | Novel Cascaded Z-Source Neutral Point Clamped Inverter显示文摘Z-source Neutral point clamped(NPC) inverter inherits the advantages of Z-source inverter, which can buck-boost energy and allow the shoot-through states.At the same time, Z-source NPC inverter has high running efficiency and less harmonic content. Hence, it can be widely used in motor drives and fuel cell applications.When increasing the modulation index, one can only get smaller shoot through value in Z-source NPC inverter,therefore the output voltage of the inverter can not be boosted very high. In this paper, a novel cascaded Z-source neutral point clamped inverter is proposed by cascading two Z-source networks in series. An Alternative phase opposition disposition(APOD) carrier-based modulator is applied to control the proposed Z-source inverter. To confirm the operating principle of the new Z-source NPC inverter, a generic APOD carrier-based modulator for the cascaded Z-source NPC Inverter under Matlab/Sinmulink is built. The simulation results show that the boost factor has been increased from 1/(1- 2D) for the traditional Z source NPC inverter to 1/(1- 4D) for the proposed cascaded Z-source NPC inverter. A prototype of the cascaded Z-source NPC inverter has been set up. | 17 | CAS-FGOALS Datasets for the Two Interglacial Epochs of the Holocene and the Last Interglacial in PMIP4显示文摘Two versions of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Flexible Global Ocean-Atmosphere-Land System model(CASFGOALS),version f3-L and g3,are used to simulate the two interglacial epochs of the mid-Holocene and the Last Interglacial in phase 4 of the Paleoclimate Modelling Intercomparison Project(PMIP4),which aims to study the impact of changes in orbital parameters on the Earth’s climate.Following the PMIP4 experimental protocols,four simulations for the mid-Holocene and two simulations for the Last Interglacial have been completed,and all the data,including monthly and daily outputs for the atmospheric,oceanic,land and sea-ice components,have been released on the Earth System Grid Federation(ESGF)node.These datasets contribute to PMIP4 and CMIP6(phase 6 of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project)by providing the variables necessary for the two interglacial periods.In this paper,the basic information of the CAS-FGOALS models and the protocols for the two interglacials are briefly described,and the datasets are validated using proxy records.Results suggest that the CAS-FGOALS models capture the large-scale changes in the climate system in response to changes in solar insolation during the interglacial epochs,including warming in mid-to-high latitudes,changes in the hydrological cycle,the seasonal variation in the extent of sea ice,and the damping of interannual variabilities in the tropical Pacific.Meanwhile,disagreements within and between the models and the proxy data are also presented.These datasets will help the modeling and the proxy data communities with a better understanding of model performance and biases in paleoclimate simulations. | Weipeng ZHENG Yongqiang YU Yihua LUAN Shuwen ZHAO Bian HE Li DONG Mirong SONG Pengfei LIN and Hailong LIU | 2020 | Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2020,37,10: | 2 |

| 20 | Evolution of the magmatic–hydrothermal system and formation of the giant Zhuxi W–Cu deposit in South China显示文摘The Zhuxi deposit is a recently discovered W–Cu deposit located in the Jiangnan porphyry–skarn W belt in South China. The deposit has a resource of 3.44 million tonnes of WO3, making it the largest on Earth,however its origin and the evolution of its magmatic–hydrothermal system remain unclear, largely because alteration–mineralization types in this giant deposit have been less well-studied, apart from a study of the calcic skarn orebodies. The different types of mineralization can be classified into magnesian skarn, calcic skarn, and scheelite–quartz–muscovite(SQM) vein types. Field investigations and mineralogical analyses show that the magnesian skarn hosted by dolomitic limestone is characterized by garnet of the grossular–pyralspite(pyrope, almandine, and spessartine) series, diopside, serpentine,and Mg-rich chlorite. The calcic skarn hosted by limestone is characterized by garnet of the grossular–andradite series, hedenbergite, wollastonite, epidote, and Fe-rich chlorite. The SQM veins host highgrade W–Cu mineralization and have overprinted the magnesian and calcic skarn orebodies. Scheelite is intergrown with hydrous silicates in the retrograde skarn, or occurs with quartz, chalcopyrite, sulfide minerals, fluorite, and muscovite in the SQM veins.Fluid inclusion investigations of the gangue and ore minerals revealed the evolution of the ore-forming fluids, which involved:(1) melt and coexisting high–moderate-salinity, high-temperature, high-pressure(>450 ℃and >1.68 kbar), methane-bearing aqueous fluids that were trapped in prograde skarn minerals;(2) moderate–low-salinity, moderate-temperature, moderate-pressure(~210–300 ℃and ~0.64 kbar),methane-rich aqueous fluids that formed the retrograde skarn-type W orebodies;(3) low-salinity,moderate–low-temperature, moderate-pressure(~150–240 ℃and ~0.56 kbar), methane-rich aqueous fluids that formed the quartz–sulfide Cu(–W) orebodies in skarn;(4) moderate–low-salinity,moderate-temperature, low-pressure(~150–250 ℃and ~0.34 kbar) alkanes-dominated aqueous fluids in the SQM vein stage, which led to the formation of high-grade W–Cu orebodies. The S–Pb isotopic compositions of the sulfides suggest that the ore-forming materials were mainly derived from magma generated by crustal anatexis, with minor addition of a mantle component. The H–O isotopic compositions of quartz and scheelite indicate that the ore-forming fluids originated mainly from magmatic water with later addition of meteoric water. The C–O isotopic compositions of calcite indicate that the ore-forming fluid was originally derived from granitic magma, and then mixed with reduced fluid exsolved from local carbonate strata. Depressurization and resultant fluid boiling were key to precipitation of W in the retrograde skarn stage. Mixing of residual fluid with meteoric water led to a decrease in fluid salinity and Cu(–W) mineralization in the quartz–sulfide stage in skarn.
