2Study on cosmogenic activation in germanium detectors for future tonne-scale CDEX experiment显示文摘A study on cosmogenic activation in germanium was carried out to evaluate the cosmogenic background level of natural and ^(70)Ge depleted germanium detectors. The production rates of long-lived radionuclides were calculated with Geant4 and CRY.Results were validated by comparing the simulated and experimental spectra of CDEX-1B detector. Based on the validated codes, the cosmogenic background level was predicted for further tonne-scale CDEX experiment. The suppression of cosmogenic background level could be achieved by underground germanium crystal growth and high-purity germanium detector fabrication to reach the sensitivity requirement for direct detection of dark matter. 3First experimental constraints on WIMP couplings in the effective field theory framework from CDEX显示文摘We present weakly interacting massive particles(WIMPs) search results performed using two approaches of effective field theory from the China Dark Matter Experiment(CDEX), based on the data from both CDEX-1B and CDEX-10 stages. In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level(C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low mχregion. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L. 4First results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from CDEX-1 experiment显示文摘We report the first results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from stage one of the China dark-matter experiment(CDEX).A p-type point-contact high-purity germanium detector with a mass of 994 g has been installed to detect neutrinoless double beta decay events, as well as to directly detect dark matter particles. An exposure of 304 kg d has been analyzed over a wide spectral band from 500 keV to 3 MeV. The average event rate obtained was about 0.012 counts per keV per kg per day over the 2.039 MeV energy range. The half-life of ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay derived based on this result is T^(0ν)1/2>6.4×10^(22) yr(90% C.L.). 5Mg-Based Micromotors with Motion Responsive to Dual Stimuli显示文摘Mg-based micromotors have emerged as an extremely attractive artificial micro/nanodevice,but suffered from uncontrollable propulsion and limited motion lifetime,restricting the fulfillment of complex tasks.Here,we have demonstrated Mg-based micromotors composed of Mg microspheres asymmetrically coated with Pt and temperature-sensitive poly(N-isopropylacrylamide)(PNIPAM)hydrogel layers in sequence.They can implement different motion behaviors stemming from the driving mechanism transformation when encountering catalyzed substrates such as H_(2)O_(2) and respond to both H_(2)O_(2) concentration and temperature in aqueous environment.The as-constructed Mg-based micromotors are self-propelled by Pt-catalyzed H_(2)O_(2) decomposition following the self-consuming Mg-H_(2)O reaction.In this case,they could further generate bilateral bubbles and thus demonstrate unique self-limitation motion like hovering when the phase transformation of PNIPAM is triggered by decreasing temperature or when the H_(2)O_(2) concentration after permeating across the PNIPAM hydrogel layer is high enough to facilitate bubble nucleation.Our work for the first time provides a stimuli-induced“hovering”strategy for self-propelled micromotors,which endows Mg-based micromotors with an intelligent response to the surroundings besides the significant extension of their motion lifetime.Kang Xiong Leilei Xu Jinwei Lin Fangzhi Mou Jianguo Guan 2020Research2020,,1:2
6Uncovering the mysterious identity of Taisui——an old Chinese folk legend显示文摘Dear Editor,Taisui(太岁) has attracted great attention in China because it has been described in ancient Chinese texts as an entity possessing mysterious properties. In Chinese mythology and folklore, Jupiter is the God of the 'Sui'(year) and is worshiped in Daoism. Jupiter appears at the same location in the sky approximately every 12 years(Jupiter’s orbit is11.86 years). However, since each cycle of Jupiter lasts for exactly 11.86 years and one Chinese year cycle comprises exactly 12 years, after approximately 84.7 years, Jupiter travels one cycle more than the number of cycles assumed by the ancient Chinese, which is called Taisui. 7Deformation Model Inferred from Focal Mechanisms in the Chinese Mainland and Its Adjacent Areas显示文摘We collect seismic moment tensors of the earthquakes occurring from 1900 to 2013 in and around the Chinese mainland and summarize the surface ruptures and displacements of 70 earthquakes with M S≥7. 0. We divide these large earthquakes into three types. Type A contains earthquakes with surface ruptures and displacements. Type B is earthquakes without displacements and Type C is those without any of this data. We simulate a triangular distribution of displacements for Type B and C. Then,we segment these large earthquakes by using their displacements and surface ruptures. Finally,kinematic models are determined from earthquake data and Bicubic Bessel spline functions. The results show that,first of all,the reasonability and spatial consistency of defined models are advanced.Strain rates have better continuity and are comparable with geologic and geodetic results in Himalaya thrust fault zones. The strain rates decrease in the Tarim basin and the Altun Tagh fault zones because of their low seismicity. The direction of compressional deformation in Gobi-Altay is changed from SE to NE and its extensional direction is changed from NE to NW. The extensional deformation in the Ordos block is diminished obviously. 8Numerical Simulation of Mechanical Compaction of Deepwater Shallow Sediments显示文摘To study the compaction law and overpressure evolution in deepwater shallow sediments, a large-strain compaction model that considers material nonlinearity and moving boundary is formulated. The model considers the dependence of permeability and material properties on void ratio. The modified Cam-Clay model is selected as the constitutive relations of the sediments, and the deactivation/reactivation method is used to capture the moving top surface during the deposition process. A one-dimensional model is used to study the compaction law of the shallow sediments. Results show that the settlement of the shallow sediments is large under their own weight during compaction. The void ratio decreases strictly with burial depth and decreases more quickly near the seafloor than in the deeper layers. The generation of abnormal pressure in the shallow flow sands is closely related to the compaction law of shallow sediments. The two main factors that affect the generation of overpressure in the sands are deposition rate and permeability of overlying clay sediments. Overpressure increases with an increase in deposition rate and a decrease in the permeability of the overlying clay sediment. Moreover, an upper limit for the overpressure exists. A two-dimensional model is used to study the differential compaction of the shallow sediments. 12Influence of Yb_2O_3-MgO on Mechanical Properties and Thermal Conductivity of Silicon Nitride Ceramics via Gas Pressure Sintering显示文摘In this work,Yb2O3 and Mg O were used as sintering aids in preparing silicon nitride ceramics by gas pressure sintering( 0. 6 MPa N2atmosphere) to investigate how the amounts of Yb2O3- Mg O influence the mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of silicon nitride ceramics. The total contents of Yb2O3- Mg O added were 1 mol%,2 mol%,4 mol%,6 mol%,8 mol%,10 mol%,12 mol%,14 mol%,keeping the Yb2O3-Mg O molar ratio of 1 ∶ 1 steadily. Curves of the relative density,thermal conductivity and bending strength plotted against the aids content present a ‘mountain'shape with a maximum at nearly 10 mol% aids. The fracture toughness increased with the amounts of additives up to10 mol% and decreased slightly thereafter. The mechanical properties and thermal conductivity were almost proportional to the amount of the additives before10 mol%. When the content of aids exceeded 10 mol%,it would weaken the mechanical properties and thermal conductivity of the ceramics. 14A large forage gap in forage availability in traditional pastoral regions in China显示文摘Forage supply has been stressed due to the rapid increase in China's livestock consumption.However,the long-term dynamics of the relationships between forage demand and multi-sourced supply are not understood.Here,we examine the annual forage demand,or practical carrying capacity(PCC),and supply,or theoretical carrying capacity(TCC)from 2000 to 2019 in China.We construct a forage supply-demand index(FSDI)to represent the forage supply pressure using MODIS-derived net primary productivity products and provincial statistical datasets,and we consider two scenarios.First,natural grasslands are the sole source of forage.Second,natural grassland forage supply is supplemented with straw crops.We find an increase in PCC in northwestern China's major pastoral and agropastoral provincial regions,including Inner Mongolia,Gansu,Ningxia and Qinghai,at rate of 0.24-3.59 million sheep units(SU)a year.As the primary source of forage,the theoretical carrying capacity of natural grasslands(TCCgrass)expanded at a rate of 3 million SU/yr nationally.Crop straws fed 126.58 million SU nationally in 2019,which accounted for 11.3%of the total practical carrying capacity and alleviated the forage supply pressure by reducing FSDI by 26.56%.During 2000–2019,the theoretical carrying capacity of straw crops(TCCcrop)increased rapidly from 76.5 million SU to 126.6 million SU,which accounted for 10%-15%of the total forage supply at the national scale.We also discovered large carrying capacity gaps(TCCgap)in the northwestern pastoral provincial regions of Inner Mongolia,Xinjiang,Gansu,and some agricultural provinces such as Shandong and Henan,when we considered forage supply from both natural grasslands and straw crops.Our findings showed a large forage gap in the traditional pastoral regions,and we also discussed green fodder as a potential solution for balancing the supply of and demand for forage,which may shed light on crop and forage planning.Tong Yang Jinwei Dong Lin Huang Yuzhe Li Huimin Yan Jun Zhai Jie Wang Zhenong Jin Geli Zhang 2023Fundamental Research2023,3,2:0

16Insight into the effect of surface carboxyl and amino groups on the adsorption of titanium dioxide for acid red G显示文摘In this study,TiO_(2)functionalized with organic groups were prepared to study the effect of carboxyl and amino groups on the adsorption behavior of TiO_(2)for the removal of acid red G(ARG)as an anionic dye from aqueous solution.TiO_(2)was successfully modified with carboxyl and amino groups by using the hydrolysis method with oxalic acid(OAD,with two carboxyl groups),ethylenediamine(EDA,with two amino groups)and DL-alanine(DLA,with one carboxyl group and one amino group)at low temperature(65℃)and labeled as OAD-TiO_(2),EDA-TiO_(2)and DLA-TiO_(2),respectively.The ARG uptake by the functionalized TiO_(2)samples was largely dependent on the functional groups.The interaction between ARG and the functional organic groups on the TiO_(2)samples plays an important role in the adsorption process,which leads to the excellent adsorption performance(higher capacity and faster adsorption rate)of the functionalized TiO_(2)samples than that of P25(commercial TiO_(2)without modification).Furthermore,there is no obvious loss of the adsorption capacity for the functionalized TiO_(2)even after 5 adsorption-desorption cycles,which indicated the good reusability of the modified TiO_(2)samples for anionic dye removal from aqueous solution.Wenlong Zhang Xuyang Zhao Lin Zhang Jinwei Zhu Shanshan Li Ping Hu Jiangtao Feng Wei Yan 2021Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2021,15,5:0
