| 3 | Antioxidant,lipid peroxidation inhibition and free radical scavenging efficacy of a diterpenoid compound sugiol isolated from Metasequoia glyptostroboides显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antioxidant enicacy of a biologically active dilerpenoid compound sugiol isolated from Metasequoia glyptostroboides(M.glyptostroboides)in various antioxidant models.Methods:An abietane type diterpenoid sugiol,isolated from ethyl acetate extract of M.glyptostroboides cones,was analyzed for its antioxidant efficacy as reducing power ability and lipid peroxidation inhibition as well as its ability to scavenge free radicals such as 1,1-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl,nitric oxide,superoxide and hydroxyl radicals.Results:The sugiol showed significant and concentration-dependent antioxidant and free radical scavenging activities.Consequently,the sugiol exerted lipid peroxidation inhibitory effect by 76.3%as compared to a-tocopherol(80.13%)and butylaled hydroxyanisole(76.59%).In addition,the sugiol had significant scavenging activities of l,l-diphenyl-2-picryl hydrazyl,nitric oxide,superoxide and hydroxyl free radicals in a concentration-dependent manner by 78.83%,72.42%,72.99%and 85.04%,when compared to the standard compound ascorbic acid(81.69%,74.62%,73.00%and 73.79%)and a-tocopherol/butylated hydroxyanisole(84.09%,78.61%,74.45%and 70.02%),respectively.Conclusions:These findings justify the biological and traditional uses of M.glyptostroboides or its secondary metabolites as confirmed by its promising antioxidant efficacy. | Vivek K.Bajpai Ajay Sharma Sun Chul Kang Kwang-Hyun Baek | 2014 | Asian Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine2014,7,1: | 8 |

| 6 | First experimental constraints on WIMP couplings in the effective field theory framework from CDEX显示文摘We present weakly interacting massive particles(WIMPs) search results performed using two approaches of effective field theory from the China Dark Matter Experiment(CDEX), based on the data from both CDEX-1B and CDEX-10 stages. In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level(C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low mχregion. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L. | 7 | First results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from CDEX-1 experiment显示文摘We report the first results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from stage one of the China dark-matter experiment(CDEX).A p-type point-contact high-purity germanium detector with a mass of 994 g has been installed to detect neutrinoless double beta decay events, as well as to directly detect dark matter particles. An exposure of 304 kg d has been analyzed over a wide spectral band from 500 keV to 3 MeV. The average event rate obtained was about 0.012 counts per keV per kg per day over the 2.039 MeV energy range. The half-life of ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay derived based on this result is T^(0ν)1/2>6.4×10^(22) yr(90% C.L.). | 9 | Lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticles: Development & statistical optimization of norfloxacin for topical drug delivery system显示文摘Poly lactic acid is a biodegradable, biocompatible, and non-toxic polymer, widely used in many pharmaceuticalpreparations such as controlled release formulations, parenteral preparations, surgicaltreatment applications, and tissue engineering. In this study, we prepared lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticlesfor topical and site targeting delivery of Norfloxacin by emulsification solvent evaporationmethod (ESE). The design of experiment (DOE) was done by using software to optimize the result, andthen a surface plot was generated to compare with the practical results. The surface morphology, particlesize, zeta potential and composition of the lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticles were characterized bySEM, TEM, AFM, and FTIR. The thermal behavior of the lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticles was characterizedby DSC and TGA. The prepared lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticles of Norfloxacin exhibited anaverage particle size from 178.6 ± 3.7 nm to 220.8 ± 2.3 nm, and showed very narrow distribution withpolydispersity index ranging from 0.206 ± 0.36 to 0.383 ± 0.66. The surface charge on the lipid-polymerhybrid nanoparticles were confirmed by zeta potential, showed the value from t23.4 ± 1.5 mVto t41.5 ± 3.4 mV. An Antimicrobial study was done against Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonasaeruginosa, and the lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticles showed potential activity against these two.Lipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticles of Norfloxacin showed the %cumulative drug release of 89.72% in24 h. A stability study of the optimized formulation showed the suitable condition for the storage oflipid-polymer hybrid nanoparticles was at 4 ± 2 C/60 ± 5% RH. | 10 | Ciliated hepatic foregut cyst:an increasingly diagnosed condition显示文摘BACKGROUND:Ciliated foregut cysts of the liver are rare, with only 96 cases diagnosed since the first description in 1857.They are being increasingly diagnosed recently;the majority of the cases have been reported in the last 15 years. Although they bear a close resemblance to the simple cyst of the liver which has essentially a benign course,ciliated hepatic foregut cysts(CHFCs)can progress to malignancy with devastating consequences.It is imperative that this group of conditions be diagnosed and treated adequately. DATA SOURCES:This review includes discussion of the data from all the 96 reported cases from English and non-English literature.Analysis of the incidence rates, embryogenesis,growth,clinical features,risk of malignancy and the prognosis are highlighted systematically.The roles of various diagnostic modalities including ultrasound, CT,MRI,fine needle aspiration cytology(FNAC), immunohistochemistry and surgery are further discussed. RESULTS:The mean age of patients with CHFC was 48± 12 years.The male/female ratio was 1.1∶1.The majority of patients with CHFC(62%)were asymptomatic,and the common mode of presentation was right upper abdominal pain.The cysts occurred in the left lobe in 51 patients, with sole location in segmentⅣin 44,and in the right lobe in 26.The average size of the cysts was 3.6±2.12 cm. The majority of the cysts were unilocular,and only 7 cases were multilocular.Cyst contents were described as viscous or mucinous in 73 patients,whereas bilious fluid was noted in 3.Large cysts having squamous carcinoma were cited in 3 patients,and 2 had extensive squamous metaplasia without malignancy.Others had benign histopathology. | 13 | Temperature-dependent aggregation of bio-surfactants in aqueous solutions of galactose and lactose:Volumetric and viscometric approach显示文摘Modulation in the aggregation behavior of bio-surfactants(bile salts), sodium cholate(NaC) and sodium deoxycholate(NaDC) in aqueous solutions of carbohydrates(galactose and lactose) have been investigated by measuring the density(ρ), speed of sound(u) and viscosity(η) of the mixtures at different temperatures293.15, 298.15, 303.15, 308.15 and 313.15 K. The density and speed of sound data have been used to calculate various volumetric and compressibility parameters such as apparent molar volume(V_φ), isentropic compressibility(κ_s), apparent molar adiabatic compression(κ_(s, φ)) to get a better insight into the micellization mechanism of bile salts. Further, the viscosity data have been studied in the light of relative viscosity(η_r) and viscous relaxation time(τ). Some derived parameters such as free volume(V_f), internal pressure(πi) and molar cohesive energy(MCE) of Na C and Na DC in aqueous solution of saccharides have also been calculated from viscosity data in conjunction with density and speed of sound values. Constraints on WIMP-nucleon spin-independent(SI) and spin-dependent(SD) couplings are derived with a physics threshold of 160 eVee, from an exposure of 737.1 kg-days.
