| 1 | Essential roles of exosome and circRNA_101093 on ferroptosis desensitization in lung adenocarcinoma显示文摘Background:Resistance to ferroptosis,a regulated cell death caused by irondependent excessive accumulation of lipid peroxides,has recently been linked to lung adenocarcinoma(LUAD).Intracellular antioxidant systems are required for protection against ferroptosis.The purpose of the present studywas to investigate whether and how extracellular system desensitizes LUAD cells to ferroptosis.Methods:Established human lung fibroblasts MRC-5,WI38,and human LUAD H1650,PC9,H1975,H358,A549,and H1299 cell lines,tumor and matched normal adjacent tissues of LUAD,and plasma from healthy individuals and LUAD patients were used in this study.Immunohistochemistry and immunoblotting were used to analyze protein expression,and quantitative reverse transcription-PCR was used to analyze mRNA expression.Cell viability,cell death,and the lipid reactive oxygen species generationwere measured to evaluate the responses to ferroptosis.Exosomes were observed using transmission electron microscope.The localization of arachidonic acid(AA)was detected using click chemistry labeling followed by confocal microscopy.Interactions between RNAs and proteins were detected using RNA pull-down,RNA immunoprecipitation and photoactivatable ribonucleoside-enhanced crosslinking and immunoprecipitation methods.Proteomic analysis was used to investigate RNA-regulated proteins,and metabolomic analysis was performed to analyze metabolites.Cellderived xenograft,patient-derived xenograft,cell-implanted intrapulmonary LUAD mouse models and plasma/tissue specimens from LUAD patients were used to validate the molecular mechanism.Results:Plasma exosome from LUAD patients specifically reduced lipid peroxidation and desensitized LUAD cells to ferroptosis.A potential explanation is that exosomal circRNA_101093(cir93)maintained an elevation in intracellular cir93 in LUAD to modulate AA,a poly-unsaturated fatty acid critical for ferroptosisassociated increased peroxidation in the plasma membrane.Mechanistically,cir93 interacted with and increased fatty acid-binding protein 3(FABP3),which transported AA and facilitated its reaction with taurine.Thus,global AA was reduced,whereas N-arachidonoyl taurine(NAT,the product of AA and taurine)was induced.Notably,the role of NAT in suppressing AA incorporation into the plasma membrane was also revealed.In pre-clinical in vivo models,reducing exosome improved ferroptosis-based treatment.Conclusion:Exosome and cir93 are essential for desensitizing LUAD cells to ferroptosis,and blocking exosome may be helpful for future LUAD treatment. | Xiao Zhang Yunhua Xu Lifang Ma Keke Yu Yongjie Niu Xin Xu Yi Shi Susu Guo Xiangfei Xue Yikun Wang Shiyu Qiu Jiangtao Cui Hong Wang Xiaoting Tian Yayou Miao Fanyu Meng Yongxia Qiao Yongchun Yu Jiayi Wang | 2022 | Cancer Communications2022,42,4: | 10 |

| 3 | Ground Surface Ruptures and Near-Fault,Large-Scale Displacements Caused by the Wenchuan Ms8.0 Earthquake Derived from Pixel Offset Tracking on Synthetic Aperture Radar Images显示文摘The 12 May 2008 Wenchuan Ms8.0 earthquake produced surface displacements along the causative fault,the Yingxiu-Beichuan Fault,which are up to several meters near the fault.Because of the large gradient,satellite synthetic aperture radar(SAR) interferometric data are strongly incoherent;the usual SAR interferometry method does not allow such displacements to be measured.In the present study,we employed another approach,the technique based on pixel offset tracking,to solve this problem.The used image data of six tracks are from the Advanced Land Observing Satellite,Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar(ALOS/PALSAR) dataset of Japan.The results show that the entire surface rupture belt is 238 km long,extending almost linearly in a direction of 42° north-east.It is offset left laterally by a north-west-striking fault at Xiaoyudong,and turns at Gaochuan,where the rupture belt shifts toward the south by 5 km,largely keeping the original trend.In terms of the features of the rupture traces,the rupture belt can be divided into five sections and three types.Among them,the Beichuan-Chaping and Hongkou-Yingxiu sections are relatively complex,with large widths and variable traces along the trend.The Pingtong-Nanba and Qingping-Jingtang sections appear uniform,characterized by straight traces and small widths.West of Yingxiu,the rupture traces are not clear.North of the rupture belt,surface displacements are 2.95 m on average,mostly 2-3.5 m,with 7-9 m the maximum near Beichuan.South of the rupture belt,the average displacement is 1.75 m,dominated by 1-2 m,with 3-4 m at a few sites.In the north,the displacements in the radar line of sight are of subsidence,and in the south,they are uplifted,in accordance with a right-slip motion that moves the northern wall of the fault to the east,and the southern wall to the west,respectively.Along the Guanxian-Jiangyou Fault,there is a uplift zone in the radar line of sight,which is 66 km long,1.5-6 km wide,and has vertical displacements of approximately 2 m,but no observable rupture traces. | QU Chunyan SHAN Xinjian LIU Yunhua ZHANG Guohong SONG Xiaogang ZHANG Guifang GUO Liming HAN Yufei | 2012 | Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2012,86,2: | 10 |

| 5 | Effects of rainfall patterns on annual plants in Horqin Sandy Land, Inner Mongolia of China显示文摘Growth of annual plants in arid environments depends largely on rainfall pulses. An increased understanding of the effects of different rainfall patterns on plant growth is critical to predicting the potential responses of plants to the changes in rainfall regimes, such as rainfall intensity and duration, and length of dry intervals. In this study, we investigated the effects of different rainfall patterns(e.g. small rainfall event with high frequency and large rainfall event with low frequency) on biomass, growth characteristics and vertical distribution of root biomass of annual plants in Horqin Sandy Land, Inner Mongolia of China during the growing season(from May to August) of 2014. Our results showed that the rainfall patterns, independent of total rainfall amount, exerted strong effects on biomass, characteristics of plant growth and vertical distribution of root biomass. Under a constant amount of total rainfall, the aboveground biomass(AGB), belowground biomass(BGB), plant cover, plant height, and plant individual and species number increased with an increase in rainfall intensity. Changes in rainfall patterns also altered the percentage contribution of species biomass to the total AGB, and the percentage of BGB at different soil layers to the total BGB. | 6 | Evaluation of maize inbred lines currently used in Chinese breeding programs for resistance to six foliar diseases显示文摘Foliar diseases are common in most maize-producing regions and have caused serious yield reduction in China. To evaluate genetic resistance of parental lines actively used in maize breeding programs to major foliar diseases, 152 maize inbred lines were tested against northern corn leaf blight(NCLB), southern corn leaf blight(SCLB), Curvularia leaf spot(CLS),gray leaf spot(GLS), common rust, and southern rust from 2003 to 2005. A small number of lines exhibited highly resistant reactions to common rust and southern rust, but none were highly resistant to NCLB, SCLB, CLS, and GLS. Although 53.3%, 40.8%, and 80.7% of lines were resistant to NCLB, SCLB, and common rust, the resistance in most lines was moderate.Resistance to CLS, GLS, and southern rust was rare in this collection of maize lines. Five lines,313, Chang 7-2, Qi 319, Qi 318, and Shen 137, were resistant to five diseases tested. Lines belonging to heterotic subgroup PB exhibited better resistance to the foliar diseases than lines from other heterotic subgroups, such as BSSS, PA, Lancaster, LRC, and PA. | 8 | Xenograft tumors derived from malignant pleural effusion of the patients with non-small-cell lung cancer as models to explore drug resistance显示文摘Background:Non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)patients with epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR)mutations or anaplastic lymphoma kinase(ALK)fusions show dramatic responses to specific tyrosine kinase inhibitors(TKIs);however,after 10-12 months,secondary mutations arise that confer resistance.We generated a murine xenograft model using patient-derived NSCLC cells isolated from the pleural fluid of two patients with NSCLC to investigate the mechanisms of resistance against the ALK-and EGFR-targeted TKIs crizotinib and osimertinib,respectively.Methods:Genotypes of patient biopsies and xenograft tumors were determined by whole exome sequencing(WES),and patients and xenograft-bearing mice received targeted treatment(crizotinib or osimertinib)accordingly.Xenograft mice were also treated for prolonged periods to identify whether the development of drug resistance and/or treatment responses were associated with tumor size.Finally,the pathology of patients biopsies and xenograft tumors were compared histologically.Results:The histological characteristics and chemotherapy responses of xenograft tumors were similar to the actual patients.WES showed that the genotypes of the xenograft and patient tumors were similar(an echinoderm microtu-bule-associated protein-like 4-ALK(EML4-ALK)gene fusion(patient/xenograft:CTC15035EML4-ALK)and EGFR L858R and T790M mutations(patient/xenograft:CTC15063EGFR L858R,T790M)).After continuous crizotinib or osimertinib treatment,WES data suggested that acquired ALK E1210K mutation conferred crizotinib resistance in the CTC15035EML4-ALK xenograft,while decreased frequencies of EGFR L858R and T790M mutations plus the appearance of v-RAF murine sarcoma viral oncogene homolog B(BRAF)G7V mutations and phosphatidylinositol-4-phosphate 3-kinase catalytic subunit type 2 alpha(PIK3C2A)A86fs frame shift mutations led to osimertinib resistance in the CTC15063EGFR L858R,T790M xenografts.Conclusions:We successfully developed a new method of generating drug resistance xenograft models from liquid biopsies using microfluidic technology,which might be a useful tool to investigate the mechanisms of drug resist-ance in NSCLC. | Yunhua Xu Feifei Zhang Xiaoqing Pan Guan Wang Lei Zhu Jie Zhang Danyi Wen Shun Lu | 2018 | Cancer Communications2018,38,1: | 7 |

| 12 | Dark matter direct search sensitivity of the PandaX-4T experiment显示文摘The Panda X-4T experiment, a 4-ton scale dark matter direct detection experiment, is being planned at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory. In this paper we present a simulation study of the expected background in this experiment. In a 2.8-ton fiducial mass and the signal region between 1-10 keV electron equivalent energy, the total electron recoil background is found to be 4.9 × 10^(-5) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). The nuclear recoil background in the same region is 2.8 × 10^(-7) kg^(-1) d^(-1) keV^(-1). The high-purity nanotetrapods show sharp tips geometry with a wurtzite structure. The field emission properties of the uniform ZnO nanostructural material are investigated at different anode-cathode distances. The turn-on field for the ZnO nanotetrapods is found to be about 3.7 V/μm at a current density of 1 μA/cm2. The field emission behavior obeys Fowler-Nordheim relationship. More importantly,the field emission properties are improved after an-nealing in hydrogen,and therefore high emission current and low turn-on field are obtained. | 15 | Valence state manipulation of Sm3+ ions via a phase-shaped femtosecond laser field显示文摘The ability to manipulate the valence state conversion of rare-earth ions is crucial for their applications in color displays, optoelectronic devices, laser sources, and optical memory. The conventional femtosecond laser pulse has been shown to be a well-established tool for realizing the valence state conversion of rare-earth ions, although the valence state conversion efficiency is relatively low. Here, we first propose a femtosecond laser pulse shaping technique for improving the valence state conversion efficiency of rare-earth ions. Our experimental results demonstrate that the photoreduction efficiency from Sm^(3+) to Sm^(2+) in Sm^(3+)-doped sodium aluminoborate glass using a π phase step modulation can be comparable to that using a transform-limited femtosecond laser field, while the peak laser intensity is decreased by about 63%, which is very beneficial for improving the valence state conversion efficiency under the laser-induced damage threshold of the glass sample. | 16 | The measurement of sea surface profile with X-band coherent marine radar显示文摘The line-of-sight velocity of scattering facets is related to the Doppler signals of X-band coherent marine radar from the oceanic surface. First, the sign Doppler Estimator is applied to estimate the Doppler shift of each radar resolution cell. And then, in terms of the Doppler shift, a retrieval algorithm extracting the vertical displacement of the sea surface has been proposed. The effects induced by radar look-direction and radar spatial resolution are both taken into account in this retrieval algorithm. The comparison between the sea surface spectrum of buoy data and the retrieved spectrum reveals that the function of the radar spatial resolution is equivalent to a low pass filter, impacting especially the spectrum of short gravity waves. The experimental data collected by Mc Master IPIX radar are also used to validate the performance of the retrieval algorithm. | 17 | Wolbachia enhances expression of NICYP4CE1 in Nilaparvata lugens in response to imidacloprid stress显示文摘The brown planthopper,Nilaparvata lugens,is one of the main insect pests of rice.The N.lugens gene NICYP4CE1 encodes cytochrome P450 monooxygenase(P450),which is a key enzyme in the metabolism of the insecticide imidacloprid.Previous research has suggested that the expression of NICYP4CEI is induced by imidacloprid stress,but the effect of bacterial symbionts on its expression has not been determined.The results of this study show that exposure to subtoxic imidacloprid changed the structure of the bacterial symbiont community in N.lugens.Specifically,the total bacterial content increased but the bacterial species diversity significantly decreased.Wolbachia accounted for the largest proportion of bacteria in N.lugens;its abundance significantly increased after subtoxic imidacloprid exposure.The transcript level of NICYP4CEI was significantly increased by imidacloprid,but this effect was significantly weakened after Wolbachia was cleared with tetracycline.This result suggests that Wolbachia enhances the expression of N1CYP4CE1 to promote the detoxification metabolic response to imidacloprid stress.Understanding the effect of bacterial symbionts on gene expression in the host provides a new perspective on interactions between insecticides and their target insect pests,and highlights that subtoxic imidacloprid exposure may raise the risk of insecticide resistance by altering the structure of bacterial symbiont communities. | Tingwei Cai Yunhua Zhang Yu Liu Xiaoqian Deng Shun He Jianhong Li Hu Wan | 2021 | Insect Science2021,28,2: | 4 |
| 18 | First experimental constraints on WIMP couplings in the effective field theory framework from CDEX显示文摘We present weakly interacting massive particles(WIMPs) search results performed using two approaches of effective field theory from the China Dark Matter Experiment(CDEX), based on the data from both CDEX-1B and CDEX-10 stages. In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level(C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low mχregion. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L. | 20 | Targets detecting in the ocean using the cross-polarized channels of fully polarimetric SAR data显示文摘Azimuth ambiguities(ghost targets) discrimination is of great interest with the development of a synthetic aperture radar(SAR). And the azimuth ambiguities are often mistaken as actual targets and cause false alarms. For actual targets, HV channel signals acquired by a fully polarimetric SAR are approximately equal to a VH channel in magnitude and phase, i.e., the reciprocity theorem applies, but shifted in phase about ± for the first-order azimuth ambiguities. Exploiting this physical behavior, the real part of the product of the two cross-polarized channels, i.e.(S S)HV VH, hereafter called A12 r, is employed as a new parameter for a target detection at sea. Compared with other parameters, the contrast of A12 r image between a target and the surrounding sea surface will be obviously increased when A12 r image is processed by mean filtering algorithm. Here, in order to detect target with constant false-alarm rates(CFARs), an analytical expression for the probability density function(pdf) of A12 r is derived based on the complex Wishart-distribution. Because a value of A12 r is greater/less than 0 for real target/its azimuth ambiguities, the first-order azimuth ambiguities can be completely removed by this A12r-based CFAR technology.
