| 2 | Changing Connectivities of Chinese Cities in the World City Network,2010–2016显示文摘Against the backdrop of the sizable economic growth of China in recent years, this paper uses the most recent data gathering of the Globalization and World Cities(Ga WC) research network to update and supplement earlier research on the shifting global connectivity of Chinese cities. The update consists of an evaluation of the connectivity of Chinese cities in 2016, the supplement of an analysis of the changing position of Chinese cities in the world city network between 2010 and 2016. To this end, we build on a specification of the world city network as an ‘interlocking network' in which producer services firms play the crucial role in city network formation. Information about the presence of leading producer services firms in cities in 2010 and 2016 is used as the input to a bipartite network projection algorithm in order to measure cities' network connectivity. The first set of results discusses the geographies of urban connectivity in the world city network in 2016. The second set of results discusses standardized measures of change to reveal the major dimensions of the transformations between 2010 and 2016. We find that, with the exception of Hong Kong, Macao and Kaohsiung of Taiwan, all Chinese cities record connectivity gains. This wholesale rise in connectivity is nonetheless geographically uneven, with above all Beijing, Chengdu/Chongqing and Changsha/Wuhan becoming more connected. | 3 | Brassinosteroids function in spikelet differentiation and degeneration in rice显示文摘Brassinosteroids(BRs) play crucial roles in many aspects of plant development. However, their function in spikelet differentiation and degeneration in rice(Oryza sativa L.) remains unclear. Here, we investigated the roles of these phytohormones in spikelet development in fieldgrown rice subjected to five different nitrogen(N)fertilization treatments during panicle differentiation. BR levels and expression of genes involved in BR biosynthesis and signal transduction were measured in spikelets. Pollen fertility and the number of differentiated spikelets were closely associated with 24-epicastasterone(24-epiCS) and 28-homobrassinolide(28-homoBL) levels in spikelets.Enhanced BR biosynthesis and signal transduction, in response to N treatment, enhanced spikelet differentiation, reduced spikelet degeneration, and increased grain yield. Increases in proton-pumping ATPase activity, ATPconcentration, energy charge, and antioxidant system(AOS) levels were consistent with 24-epiCS and28-homoBL concentrations. Exogenous application of 24-epiCS or 28-homoBL on young panicles induced a marked increase in endogenous 24-epiCS or 28-homoBL levels, energy charge, AOS levels, spikelet differentiation, and panicle weight. The opposite effects were observed following treatment with a BR biosynthesis inhibitor. | 4 | More than Carbon Stocks:A Case Study of Ecosystem-based Benefits of REDD+ in Indonesia显示文摘During the 15th Conference of the Parties(COP 15),Parties agreed that reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation and enhancing 'removals of greenhouse gas emission by forests'(REDD+) in developing countries through positive incentives under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change(UNFCCC) was capable of dealing with global emissions.As REDD+ seeks to lower emissions by stopping deforestation and forest degradation with an international payment tier according to baseline scenarios,opportunities for ecosystem benefits such as slowing habitat fragmentation,conservation of forest biodiversity,soil conservation may be also part of this effort.The primary objective of this study is to evaluate ecosystem-based benefits of REDD+,and to identify the relationships with carbon stock changes.To achieve this goal,high resolution satellite images are combined with Normalized Difference Vegetation Index(NDVI) to identify historical deforestation in study area of Central Kalimantan,Indonesia.The carbon emissions for the period of 2000-2005 and 2005-2009 are 2.73 × 10 5 t CO 2 and 1.47 × 10 6 t CO 2 respectively,showing an increasing trend in recent years.Dring 2005-2009,number of patches(NP),patch density(PD),mean shape index distribution(SHAPE_MN) increased 30.8%,30.7% and 7.6%.Meanwhile,largest patch index(LPI),mean area(AREA_MN),area-weighted mean of shape index distribution(SHAPE_AM),neighbor distance(ENN_MN) and interspersion and juxtaposition index(IJI) decreased by 55.3%,29.7%,15.8%,53.4% and 21.5% respectively.The area regarding as positive correlation between carbon emissions and soil erosion was approximately 8.9 × 10 3 ha corresponding to 96.0% of the changing forest.These results support the view that there are strong synergies among carbon loss,forest fragmentation and soil erosion in tropical forests.Such mechanism of REDD+ is likely to present opportunities for multiple benefits that fall outside the scope of carbon stocks. | LU Heli YAN Weiyang QINYaochen LIU Guifang | 2012 | Chinese Geographical Science2012,22,4: | 6 |

| 6 | Competition between Populus euphratica and Tamarix ramosissima seedlings under simulated high groundwater availability显示文摘Desert riparian plants experience high variability in water availability due to hydrological fluctuations. How riparian plants can survive with low water availability has been well studied, however, little is known about the effects of high water availability on plant community structuring. We conducted a mesocosm experiment to test whether seedling competition under simulated high groundwater availability can explain the shift of co-dominance of Populus euphratica and Tamarix ramosissima in early communities to P. euphratica dominance in mature ones along the Tarim River in northwestern China. Seedlings of these two plant species were grown in monoculture and mixture pools with high groundwater availability. Results indicated that the above-ground biomass and relative yield of T. ramosissima were higher than those of P. euphratica. The competitive advantages of T. ramosissima included its rapid response in growth to groundwater enrichment and its water spender strategy, as evidenced by the increased leaf biomass proportion and the inert stomatal response to leaf-to-air vapor pressure deficit(VPD). In comparison, P. euphratica showed a conservative strategy in water use, with a sensitive response to leaf-to-air VPD. Result of the short-term competition was inconsistent with the long-term competition in fields, suggesting that competition exclusion is not the mechanism structuring the desert riparian plant communities. | 7 | International Freight Forwarding Services Network in the Yangtze River Delta, 2005–2015: Patterns and Mechanisms显示文摘This study examined the spatio-temporal trajectories of the international freight forwarding service(IFFS) in the Yangtze River Delta(YRD) and explored the driving mechanisms of the service. Based on a bipartite network projection from an IFFS firm-city data source, we mapped three IFFS networks in the YRD in 2005, 2010, and 2015. A range of statistical indicators were used to explore changes in the spatial patterns of the three networks. The underlying influence of marketization, globalization, decentralization, and integration was then explored. It was found that the connections between Shanghai and other nodal cities formed the backbones of these networks. The effects of a city's administrative level and provincial administrative borders were generally obvious. We found several specific spatial patterns associated with IFFS. For example, the four non-administrative centers of Ningbo, Suzhou, Lianyungang, and Nantong were the most connected cities and played the role of gateway cities. Furthermore, remarkable regional equalities were found regarding a city's IFFS network provision, with notable examples in the weakly connected areas of northern Jiangsu and southwestern Zhejiang. | 11 | Effect of Bowed/Leaned Vane on the Unsteady Aerodynamic Excitation in Transonic Turbine显示文摘To investigate the effect of bowed/leaned vane configurations on the aerodynamic performance and aerodynamic excitation in transonic high-pressure turbine, the full three-dimensional viscous unsteady numerical simulation was performed by solving N-S equations based on SAS SST method.The influence of bowed/leaned vanes on turbine efficiency and efficiency fluctuation was investigated. The action of vane modelling to the overall aerodynamic fluctuation level and the amplitude of each vane passing frequency were analyzed. By comparing instantaneous pressure fluctuation contours in the blade passage with space-time maps, the link of the pressure fluctuation on blade surface with flow distortions was achieved, which can reveal the mechanism of the impact of the vane modelling. As the results suggest, the turbine efficiency is promoted with positively leaned and bowed vane modelling, and the fluctuation of stage turbine efficiency is repressed, which contributes to the smooth running of the turbine stage. The blade aerodynamic excitation on the rotor blade is characterized by the motion of vane trailing edge shock system, and the vane configurations can reduce the fluctuation level on the rotor blade surface effectively. For the positively leaned vane configuration, the aerodynamic excitations at the root and tip region are affected by the impact of the amplitude of the first harmonic, whereas they are reduced with the decrease of the amplitude of the second and higher harmonics at midspan. | 13 | Characteristics of soil nutrients and their relationship with soil microbial properties in Artemisia sacrorum communities in the loess hilly region显示文摘Artemisia sacrorum communities with different growth years were selected to analyse soil nutrient characteristics,the variation in soil microbial properties,and their relationships in the loess hilly region.The results showed that with an increase in the number of growth years,soil microbial biomass carbon and nitrogen contents as well as soil phosphatase and urease activities initially decreased and then increased in the A.sacrorum communities.The soil organic carbon,organic nitrogen,and total nitrogen contents as well as soil respiration rate showed an increasing trend and reached a maximum at age(a)37.The soil available phosphorus content first decreased and then increased,with the lowest level observed at 18 a.By contrast,soil available potassium initially increased and then decreased.Soil microbial biomass carbon had a significant positive correlation with soil organic carbon,total nitrogen and organic nitrogen,while soil respiration had a significant positive correlation with organic nitrogen,soil phosphatase and organic carbon.Soil respiration had a highly significant positive correlation with organic carbon and total nitrogen,while soil phosphatase had a highly significant positive correlation with total nitrogen and organic nitrogen.In the A.sacrorum communities,the soil organic carbon and total nitrogen contents were mainly affected by soil respiration,soil available potassium content was mainly affected by soil urease activity,and soil organic nitrogen content was mainly affected by soil phosphatase activity.These findings indicate that soil basal respiration,urease activity and phosphatase activity were the major microbial factors affecting the characteristics of the soil nutrients in the A.sacrorum communities.In conclusion,the natural restoration process of A.sacrorum communities can enhance soil microbial activity and improve soil quality. | Lijuan Song Weiyang Liu Huifeng Wu Tian Gao Wenfang Hao | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,4: | 2 |

The emitting acoustic power and received mean square acoustic pressure are functions of time. The paper deals with this problem as a quasi-steady one. The whole process is resolved into several elementary procedures, for example, the flight trajectory, the geometric relation between the noise sources and observers, the noise source characteristics, the air propagation and ground effect. Two calculation examples are given in the paper, one for a long-range passenger with high bypass-ratio turbofan engine, and the other for a 3-leaved propeller. The composition of aircraft noise, its time history, frequency spectrum and directivity can be clearly described by these curves. | 16 | Scientific objectives of the Hot Universe Baryon Surveyor(HUBS) mission显示文摘The Hot Universe Baryon Surveyor(HUBS) is a proposed space-based X-ray telescope for detecting X-ray emissions from the hot gas content in our universe. With its unprecedented spatially-resolved high-resolution spectroscopy and large field of view,the HUBS mission will be uniquely qualified to measure the physical and chemical properties of the hot gas in the interstellar medium, the circumgalactic medium, the intergalactic medium, and the intracluster medium. These measurements will be valuable for two key scientific goals of HUBS, namely to unravel the AGN and stellar feedback physics that governs the formation and evolution of galaxies, and to probe the baryon budget and multi-phase states from galactic to cosmological scales. In addition to these two goals, the HUBS mission will also help us solve some problems in the fields of galaxy clusters, AGNs, difuse X-ray backgrounds, supernova remnants, and compact objects. | 17 | Survival after radical cystectomy for bladder cancer:Multicenter comparison between minimally invasive and open approaches显示文摘Objective:To investigate oncological outcomes in patients with bladder cancer who underwent minimally invasive radical cystectomy(MIRC)or open radical cystectomy(ORC).Methods:We identified patients with bladder cancer who underwent radical cystectomy(RC)in 13 centers of the Chinese Bladder Cancer Consortium(CBCC).Perioperative outcomes were compared between MIRC and ORC.The influence of surgical approaches on overall survival(OS)and cancer-specific survival(CSS)in the entire study group and subgroups classified according to pathologic stage or lymph node(LN)status was assessed with the log-rank test.Multivariable Cox proportional hazard models were used to evaluate the association among OS,CSS and risk factors of interest.Results:Of 2098 patients who underwent RC,1243 patients underwent MIRC(1087 laparoscopic RC and 156 robotic-assisted RC,respectively),while 855 patients underwent ORC.No significant differences were noted in positive surgical margin rate and 90-day postoperative mortality rate.MIRC was associated with less estimated blood loss,more LN yield,higher rate of neobladder diversion,longer operative time,and longer length of hospital stay.There was no significant difference in OS and CSS according to surgical approaches(pZ0.653,and 0.816,respectively).Subgroup analysis revealed that OS and CSS were not significantly different regardless of the status of extravesical involvement or LN involvement.Multivariable Cox regression analyses showed that the surgical approach was not a significant predictor of OS and CSS.Conclusions:Our study showed that MIRC was comparable to conventional ORC in terms of OS and CSS. | Weibin Xie Junming Bi Qiang Wei Ping Han Dongkui Song Lei Shi Dingwei Ye Yijun Shen Xin Gou Weiyang He Shaogang Wang Zheng Liu Jinhai Fan Kaijie Wu Zhiwen Chen Xiaozhou Zhou Chuize Kong Yang Liu Chunxiao Liu Abai Xu Baiye Jin Guanghou Fu Wei Xue Haige Chen Tiejun Pan Zhong Tu Tianxin Lin Jian Huang | 2020 | Asian Journal of Urology2020,7,3: | 1 |

The Hall tensor is third-order and three-dimensional, whose first two indices are skew-symmetric. This paper investigates the isotropic polynomial invariants of the Hall tensor by connecting it with a second-order tensor via the third-order Levi-Civita tensor. A minimal isotropic integrity basis with 10 invariants for the Hall tensor is proposed. | 20 | Single-cell RNA Sequencing Reveals Sexually Dimorphic Transcriptome and Type 2 Diabetes Genes in Mouse Islet β Cells显示文摘Type 2 diabetes(T2D)is characterized by the malfunction of pancreaticβcells.Susceptibility and pathogenesis of T2D can be affected by multiple factors,including sex differences.However,the mechanisms underlying sex differences in T2D susceptibility and pathogenesis remain unclear.Using single-cell RNA sequencing(scRNA-seq),we demonstrate the presence of sexually dimorphic transcriptomes in mouseβcells.Using a high-fat diet-induced T2D mouse model,we identified sex-dependent T2D altered genes,suggesting sex-based differences in the pathological mechanisms of T2D.Furthermore,based on islet transplantation experiments,we found that compared to mice with sexmatched islet transplants,sex-mismatched islet transplants in healthy mice showed down-regulation of genes involved in the longevity regulating pathway ofβcells.Moreover,the diabetic mice with sex-mismatched islet transplants showed impaired glucose tolerance.These data suggest sexual dimorphism in T2D pathogenicity,indicating that sex should be considered when treating T2D.We hope that our findings could provide new insights for the development of precision medicine in T2D. | Gang Liu Yana Li Tengjiao Zhang Mushan Li Sheng Li Qing He Shuxin Liu Minglu Xu Tinghui Xiao Zhen Shao Weiyang Shi Weida Li | 2021 | Genomics, Proteomics & Bioinformatics2021,19,3: | 1 |
