| 1 | Effect of ginseng polysaccharides and dendritic cells on the balance of Th1/Th2 T helper cells in patients with non-small cell lung cancer显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of thorascopic administration of ginseng polysaccharides(GPS)plus dendritic cells(DC) on T helper cell type 1/T helper cell type 2(Th1/Th2) balance in patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).METHODS: A total of 96 NSCLC patients were divided evenly into two groups. The control group was treated with DCs alone and the treatment group was treated with DCs plus GPS. After DCs and GPS were administered thoracoscopically, once a week,4 times for 30 days, the patients' quality of life was measured with the Functional Assessment of Can-cer Treatment-Lung(FACT-L) questionnaire before and after treatment. Serum interferon-γ(INF-γ), interleukin-4(IL-4), IL-2 and IL-5 were examined before and after treatments.RESULTS: The level of Th1 cytokines(INF-γ, IL-2)and the ratio of Th1/Th2 cytokines(INF-γ/IL-4, IL-2/IL-5) increased in both treatment groups, while Th2cytokines(IL-4, IL-5) and FACT-L scores decreased(P<0.01). Furthermore, after treatment Th1 cytokines(INF-γ, IL-2) and the ratio of Th1/Th2 cytokines(INF-γ/IL-4, IL-2/IL-5) were higher in the DCs +GPS group than in the control group(P<0.05). Conversely, FACT-L scores and Th2 cytokines(IL-4, IL-5)were higher in the control group than in the DCs +GPS group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The treatment regime of DCs plus GPS had a greater effect on NSCLC patients' immune function as compared with DCs alone. | 3 | A novel m6A reader Prrc2a controls oligodendroglial specification and myelination显示文摘While N6-methyladenosine (m6A), the most abundant internal modification in eukaryotic mRNA, is linked to cell differentiation and tissue development, the biological significance of m6A modification in mammalian glial development remains unknown. Here, we identify a novel m6A reader, Prrc2a (Proline rich coiled-coil 2A), which controls oligodendrocyte specification and myelination. Nestin-Cre-mediated knockout of Prrc2a induces significant hypomyelination, decreased lifespan, as well as locomotive and cognitive defects in a mouse model. Further analyses reveal that Prrc2a is involved in oligodendrocyte progenitor cells (OPCs) proliferation and oligodendrocyte fate determination. Accordingly, oligodendroglial-lineage specific deletion of Prrc2a causes a similar phenotype of Nestin-Cre-mediated deletion. Combining transcriptome-wide RNA-seq, m6A-RIP-seq and Prrc2a RIP-seq analysis, we find that Olig2 is a critical downstream target gene of Prrc2a in oligodendrocyte development. Furthermore, Prrc2a stabilizes Olig2 mRNA through binding to a consensus GGACU motif in the Olig2 CDS (coding sequence) in an m6A-dependent manner. Interestingly, we also find that the m6A demethylase, Fto, erases the m6A modification of Olig2 mRNA and promotes its degradation. Together, our results indicate that Prrc2a plays an important role in oligodendrocyte specification through functioning as a novel m6A reader. | 4 | Behaviors and kinetics of toluene adsorption-desorption on activated carbons with varying pore structure显示文摘This work was undertaken to investigate the behaviors and kinetics of toluene adsorption and desorption on activated carbons with varying pore structure. Five kinds of activated carbon from different raw materials were selected. Adsorption isotherms and breakthrough curves for toluene were measured. Langmuir and Freundlich equations were fitted to the equilibrium data, and the Freundlich equation was more suitable for simulating toluene adsorption. The process consisted of monolayer, multilayer and partial active site adsorption types. The effect of the pore structure of the activated carbons on toluene adsorption capacity was investigated. The quasi-first-order model was more suitable for describing the process than the quasi-second-order model. The adsorption data was also modeled by the internal particle diffusion model and it was found that the adsorption process could be divided into three stages. In the external surface adsorption process, the rate depended on the specific surface area. During the particle diffusion stage, pore structure and volume were the main factors affecting adsorption rate. In the final equilibrium stage, the rate was determined by the ratio of meso-and macro-pores to total pore volume. The rate over the whole adsorption process was dominated by the toluene concentration. The desorption behavior of toluene on activated carbons was investigated,and the process was divided into heat and mass transfer parts corresponding to emission and diffusion mechanisms, respectively. | 5 | The poisoning and regeneration effect of alkali metals deposed over commercial V_2O_5-WO_3/TiO_2 catalysts on SCR of NO by NH_3显示文摘In this study,commercial V2O5-WO3/TiO2catalysts were deactivated by loading with alkali metals(K and Na).These catalysts were then regenerated by washing with either deionized water or 0.5 mol/L H2SO4(through the ultrasonic-assisted method).The samples used in this research were characterized by NH3-temperature programmed desorption(TPD),and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS).Results showed that Na2O and K2O doping can poison the V2O5-WO3/TiO2catalyst and that the poisoning effect of Na2O was stronger than that of K2O.However,the Na2O-loaded sample was easier to regenerate than the K2O-loaded sample.The surfaces of catalysts can be sulfated by washing with dilute sulfuric acid because strong acid sites adhere to the catalyst surface.SO42-could also promote catalyst activity.As indicated by the NH3-TPD findings,the deposition of Na2O and K2O could also reduce the amount of desorbed ammonia and destabilize the acid sites,especially strong chemisorption sites.XPS results revealed that catalysts were deactivated by the decrease in the concentration of chemisorbed oxygen[the Oa/(Oα+Oβ)ratio].In the Na2O-doped catalyst,much chemisorbed oxygen was lost(from 28.8%to10.6%).However,the decrease in the Oa/(Oα+Oβ)ratio was less significant in the K2O-doped catalyst(from28.8%to 23.5%).Nonetheless,the binding energies of O1s broadened with respect to both high and low energy.In particular,the binding energy of chemisorbed oxygen increased from 531.5 to 531.8 eV. | Fengyu Gao Xiaolong Tang Honghong Yi Shunzheng Zhao Tongtong Zhang Dong Li Ding Ma | 2014 | Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,31: | 19 |

| 7 | Review of Hydrogen Embrittlement in Metals: Hydrogen Diffusion, Hydrogen Characterization, Hydrogen Embrittlement Mechanism and Prevention显示文摘Hydrogen dissolved in metals as a result of internal and external hydrogen can affect the mechanical properties of the metals, principally through the interactions between hydrogen and material defects. Multiple phenomena such as hydrogen dissolution, hydrogen diffusion, hydrogen redistribution and hydrogen interactions with vacancies, dislocations, grain boundaries and other phase interfaces are involved in this process. Consequently, several hydrogen embrittlement(HE) mechanisms have been successively proposed to explain the HE phenomena, with the hydrogen-enhanced decohesion mechanism, hydrogenenhanced localized plasticity mechanism and hydrogen-enhanced strain-induced vacancies being some of the most important. Additionally, to reduce the risk of HE for engineering structural materials in service, surface treatments and microstructural optimization of the alloys have been suggested. In this review, we report on the progress of the studies on HE in metals, with a particular focus on steels. It focuses on four aspects:(1) hydrogen diffusion behavior;(2) hydrogen characterization methods;(3) HE mechanisms;and(4) the prevention of HE. | 10 | Application of AERMOD on near future air quality simulation under the latest national emission control policy of China: A case study on an industrial city显示文摘Air quality model can be an adequate tool for future air quality prediction, also atmospheric observations supporting and emission control strategies responders. The influence of emission control policy (emission reduction targets in the national 'China's 12th Five-Year Plan (2011-2015)') on the air quality in the near future over an important industrial city of China, Xuanwei in Yunnan Province, was studied by applying the AERMOD modeling system. First, our analysis demonstrated that the AERMOD modeling system could be used in the air quality simulation in the near future for SO2 and NOx under average meteorology but not for PM10. Second, after evaluating the simulation results in 2008 and 2015, ambient concentration of SO2, NOx and PM10 (only 2008) were all centered in the middle of simulation area where the emission sources concentrated, and it is probably because the air pollutions were source oriented. Last but not least, a better air quality condition will happen under the hypothesis that the average meteorological data can be used in near future simulation. However, there are still heavy polluted areas where ambient concentrations will exceed the air quality standard in near future. In spatial allocation, reduction effect of SO2 is more significant than NOx in 2015 as the contribution of SO2 from industry is more than NOx. | 11 | Electroacupuncture at Tianshu (ST 25) for diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome using positron emission tomography Changes in visceral sensation center显示文摘Previous studies have demonstrated that electroacupuncture therapy is effective in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. However, the precise mechanism of this therapy is unknown. The present study served to investigate the effects of electroacupuncture therapy on treatment of patients with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). We compared brain activation maps based on the changes of cerebral glucose metabolism obtained by 18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography scanning under three conditions: resting, rectal balloon distension and rectal balloon distension plus electroacupuncture. Under the resting condition, compared with healthy controls, IBS patients displayed an increasing regional cerebral metabolic rate of glucose over a wide range: bilateral superior temporal gyrus, right middle occipital gyrus, superior frontal gyrus and bilateral middle frontal gyrus. However, there was no significant activity in the visceral pain center. Compared with the resting condition, under the rectal balloon distension condition, patients with IBS had a greater regional cerebral metabolic rate of glucose in the prefrontal cortex, left anterior cingulate cortex, postcentral gyrus, precentral gyrus and temporal gyrus. Under the rectal balloon distension plus electroacupuncture condition, stimulation by electroacupuncture at Tianshu (ST 25) manifested a decreased regional cerebral metabolic rate of glucose in the left cingulate gyrus, right insula, right caudate nucleus, fusiform gyrus and hippocampal gyrus. It is proposed that an electric-propulsion spacecraft initially parking in a circular 200-km-altitude low Earth orbit is expected to rendezvous with an asteroid and carry as much sample as possible back to the Earth in a10-year time frame. | 14 | Chemical formation and source apportionment of PM_(2.5) at an urban site at the southern foot of the Taihang mountains显示文摘The region along the Taihang Mountains in the North China Plain(NCP) is characterized by serious fine particle pollution. To clarify the formation mechanism and controlling factors, an observational study was conducted to investigate the physical and chemical properties of the fine particulate matter in Jiaozuo city, China. Mass concentrations of the water-soluble ions(WSIs) in PM_(2.5) and gaseous pollutant precursors were measured on an hourly basis from December 1, 2017, to February 27, 2018. The positive matrix factorization(PMF) method and the FLEXible PARTicle(FLEXPART) model were employed to identify the sources of PM_(2.5). The results showed that the average mass concentration of PM_(2.5) was 111 μg/m^(3) during the observation period. Among the major WSIs, sulfate, nitrate, and ammonium(SNA) constituted 62% of the total PM_(2.5) mass, and NO_(3)^(-) ranked the highest with an average contribution of 24.6%. NH_(4)^(+) was abundant in most cases in Jiaozuo. According to chemical balance analysis, SO_(2)-4, NO_(3)^(-), and Cl^(-) might be present in the form of(NH_4)_(2)SO_4, NH_4NO_3, NH_4Cl, and KCl. The liquid-phase oxidation of SO_(2) and NO_(2) was severe during the haze period. The relative humidity and pH were the key factors influencing SO_(4)^(2-) formation. We found that NO_(3)^(-) mainly stemmed from homogeneous gas-phase reactions in the daytime and originated from the hydrolysis of N_(2)O_5 in the nighttime, which was inconsistent with previous studies. | 15 | Field Experiments of Multi-Channel Oceanographic Fluorescence Lidar for Oil Spill and Chlorophyll-a Detection显示文摘A Multi-channel Oceanographic Fluorescence Lidar(MOFL), with a UV excitation at 355 nm and multiple receiving channels at typical wavelengths of fluorescence from oil spills and chlorophyll-a(Chl-a), has been developed using the Laser- induced Fluorescence(LIF) technique. The sketch of the MOFL system equipped with a compact multi-channel photomultiplier tube(MPMT) is introduced in the paper. The methods of differentiating the oil fluorescence from the background water fluorescence and evaluating the Chl-a concentration are described. Two field experiments were carried out to investigate the field performance of the system, i.e., an experiment in coastal areas for oil pollution detection and an experiment over the Yellow Sea for Chl-a monitoring. In the coastal experiment, several oil samples and other fluorescence substances were used to analyze the fluorescence spectral characteristics for oil identification, and to estimate the thickness of oil films at the water surface. The experiment shows that both the spectral shape of fluorescence induced from surface water and the intensity ratio of two channels(I495/I405) are essential to determine oil-spill occurrence. In the airborne experiment, MOFL was applied to measure relative Chl-a concentrations in the upper layer of the ocean. A comparison of relative Chl-a concentration measurements by MOFL and the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer(MODIS) indicates that the two datasets are in good agreement. | 18 | Effects of extracts from Chuanwu(Aconitum Carmichaelii) and Banxia(Rhizoma Pinelliae) on excisional wound healing in a rat's model显示文摘OBJEVTIVE: To investigate the effects of extracts from Chuanwu(Aconitum Carmichaelii) and Banxia(Rhizoma Pinelliae) on the excisional wound healing in a rat's model.METHODS: Rats were performed a surgical lesion with a 2.0 cm resected tissue in the dorsal fascia.Following, animals were randomly divided into model group, YNB group and APE group those were respectively treated with saline, 1 mg/mL of Yunnan Baiyao and 1 mg/mL of Chuanwu(Aconitum Carmichaelii) and Banxia(Rhizoma Pinelliae) extracts. Wound contractions in days 0, 3, 7, 14 and 21 were calculated by an image analyzer. Histological analysis was analyzed using hematoxilin and eosin.Levels of tumor necrosis factor-2(IL-2), IL-4, IL-10, transformαin(TNF-g growα), interleukinth factor-1(TGF-nd basic fibroblast growth factor(bFββ1) a-GF) were determined by real-time quantitative PCR.RESULTS: Compared with that of YNB group and APE gtoup, the skin of rats showed poor re-modeling and re-epithelization characterized by a significant decrease of neovascularization, epithelialization and fibroblast in the model group.
