3High-performance polarization management devices based on thin-film lithium niobate显示文摘High-speed polarization management is highly desirable for many applications,such as remote sensing,telecommunication,and medical diagnosis.However,most of the approaches for polarization management rely on bulky optical components that are slow to respond,cumbersome to use,and sometimes with high drive voltages.Here,we overcome these limitations by harnessing photonic integrated circuits based on thin-film lithium niobate platform.We successfully realize a portfolio of thin-film lithium niobate devices for essential polarization management functionalities,including arbitrary polarization generation,fast polarization measurement,polarization scrambling,and automatic polarization control.The present devices feature ultra-fast control speeds,low drive voltages,low optical losses and compact footprints.Using these devices,we achieve high fidelity polarization generation with a polarization extinction ratio up to 41.9 dB and fast polarization scrambling with a scrambling rate up to 65 Mrad s−1,both of which are best results in integrated optics.We also demonstrate the endless polarization state tracking operation in our devices.The demonstrated devices unlock a drastically new level of performance and scales in polarization management devices,leading to a paradigm shift in polarization management.Zhongjin Lin Yanmei Lin Hao Li Mengyue Xu Mingbo He Wei Ke Heyun Tan Ya Han Zhaohui Li Dawei Wang X.Steve Yao Songnian Fu Siyuan Yu Xinlun Cai 2022Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,5:3
4Genome-wide analysis of the barley non-specific lipid transfer protein gene family显示文摘Non-specific lipid transfer proteins(nsLTPs) are small, basic proteins that are characterized by an eight-cysteine motif. The biological functions of these proteins have been reported to involve plant reproduction and biotic or abiotic stress response. With the completion of the barley genome sequence, a genome-wide analysis of nsLTPs in barley(Hordeum vulgare L.)(HvLTPs) will be helpful for understanding the function of nsLTPs in plants. We performed a genome-wide analysis of the nsLTP gene family in barley and identified 70 nsLTP genes,which can be divided into five types(1, 2, C, D, and G). Each type of nsLTPs shares similar exon and intron gene structures. Expression analysis showed that barley nsLTPs have diverse expression patterns, revealing their various roles. 6Spatio-temporal Variation of PM_(2.5) in China from 1998 to 2016显示文摘With the rapid development of China's economy,people's demand for a healthy living environment is increasing,and air quality has gradually been widely concerned by all sectors of society.Using the big data of air quality monitoring from 1998 to 2016,based on the exploratory spatio-temporal analysis method,this paper explored the spatio-temporal evolution of PM_(2.5) at the national scale,and drew the following conclusions:①PM_(2.5) heavy pollution is mainly in central and eastern China,north and south China,and the pollution degree is relatively light in northwest and northeast China.Meanwhile,PM_(2.5) concentration in heavily polluted areas increased significantly over time,while PM_(2.5) concentration in low-polluted areas showed a long-term stable trend.②The number and area of cities with moderate and high PM_(2.5) pollution levels showed an inverted U-shaped curve from 1998 to 2016,and 2007 was the inflection point.③The spatial autocorrelation coefficient of PM_(2.5) is high over the years,and the spatial neighbor effect of PM_(2.5) is significant.The high-pollution clusters are mainly concentrated in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region,the Yangtze River Delta and the Pearl River Delta,and the pollution concentration in these three regions has increased rapidly in recent years.It is necessary to focus on joint prevention and control.Jianghui WANG Peng ZHOU Yichen LIN Longhao ZHANG Mengyu WU 2022Meteorological and Environmental Research2022,13,1:1
7siRNA-functionalized lanthanide nanoparticle enables efficient endosomal escape and cancer treatment显示文摘Attaching DNA/RNA to nanomaterials is the basis for nucleic acid-based assembly and drug delivery.Herein,we report that small interfering RNA(siRNA)effectively coordinates with ligand-free lanthanide nanoparticles(NaGdF4 NPs),and forms siRNA/NaGdF4 spherical nucleic acids(SNA).The coordination is primarily attributed to the interaction between Gd and phosphate backbone of the siRNA.Surprisingly,an efficient encapsulation and rapid endosomal escape of siRNA from the endosome/lysosome were achieved,due to its flexible ability to bound to phospholipid head of endosomal membrane,thereby disrupting the membrane structure.Resorting to the dual properties of NaGdF4 NPs,siRNA loading,and endosomal escape,siRNA targeting programmed cell death-ligand 1(siPD-L1)/NaGdF4 SNA triggers significant gene silencing in vitro and in vivo,and effectively represses the tumor growth in both CT26 tumor model and 4T1 orthotopic murine model.Chanchan Yu Kun Li Lin Xu Bo Li Chunhui Li Shuai Guo Ziyue Li Yuquan Zhang Abid Hussain Hong Tan Mengyu Zhang Yongxiang Zhao Yuanyu Huang Xing-Jie Liang 2022Nano Research2022,15,10:1
8Integrated analysis of gene expression and methylation profiles of novel pancreatic cancer cell lines with highly metastatic activity显示文摘Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal human malignancies, partly because of its propensity for metastasis. However, highly metastatic human pancreatic cancer cell lines suitable for studies of metastasis are currently lacking. Here we established two highly metastatic human pancreatic cancer cell lines, MIA PaCa-2 In8 and Panc-1 In8, by Matrigel induction assay. The cell lines were further characterized both in vitro and in vivo. MIA PaCa-2 In8 and Panc-1 In8 cells demonstrated increased migration and invasion compared with their respective parental cells. Following injection into nude mice, MIA PaCa-2 In8 and Panc-1 In8 cells resulted in more pulmonary metastases compared with the parental cells. Furthermore, analyses of m RNA, long non-coding RNA, micro RNA, and methylation profiling revealed that these factors were aberrantly regulated in the highly metastatic cells,indicating that they probably affected metastasis. 10Study of sodium lignosulfonate prepare low-rank coal-water slurry:Experiments and simulations显示文摘The effect of sodium lignosulfonate(SL)as additive on the preparation of low-rank coal-water slurry(LCWS)was studied by experiments and molecular dynamics(MD)simulation s.The experimental results show that the appropriate amount of additives is beneficial to reduce the viscosity of LCWS and increase the slurry concentration.Adsorption isotherm studies showed that SL conforms to single-layer adsorption on the coal surface,andΔG_(ads)^(0) was negative,proving that the reaction was spontaneous.Zeta potential measurements showed that SL increased the negative charge on coal.FTIR scanning and XPS wide-range scanning were performed on the coal before and after adsorption,and it was found that the content of oxygen functional groups on coal increased after adsorption.Simulation results show that when a large number of SL molecules exist in the solution,some SL molecules will bind to hydrophobic hydrocarbon groups on coal.The rest of the SL molecule s,their hydrophobic alkyl tails,come into contact with each other and aggregate in solution.The agglomeration of SL molecules and the surface of coal with static electricity will also produce electrostatic interaction,which is conducive to the even dispersion of coal particles.The results of mean square displacement(MSD)and self-diffusion coefficient(D)show that the addition of SL reduces the diffusion rate of water molecules.Simulation results correspond to experimental results,indicating that MD simulation is accurate and feasible.Lin Li Chuandong Ma Mengyu Lin Mingpu Liu Hao Yu QingbiaoWang Xiaoqiang Cao Xiaofang You 2021Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2021,34,1:1
11Phosphatidylserine externalized on the colonic capillaries as a novel pharmacological target for IBD therapy显示文摘Inflammatory bowel disease(IBD)is a chronic and relapsing disorder for many people associated with poor health.Although there are some clinical drugs for IBD treatment,the development of effective therapeutics on IBD patients has always been necessary.Here,we show that externalized phosphatidylserine(PS)is observed on the surface of colonic capillaries.Annexin A5(ANXA5)with high affinity for PS has a good targeting to the colon and effectively alleviates experimental colitis.In contrast,ANXA5 mutant(A5m)lacking the PS-binding ability,has no accumulation in the colon and no therapeutic effects on colitis.Mechanistic investigations indicate that ANXA5 reduces the inflammatory cell infiltration by inhibiting endothelial cell activation dependent on PS-binding ability.With the increasing of PS exposure on activated HUVECs(human umbilical vein endothelial cells),ANXA5 binding induces the internalization of TLR4 via PS-dependent endocytosis.We provide new insights on the molecular mechanism of ANXA5 for its anti-inflammatory effect.Our data suggest that PS-externalization is a potential target of ANXA5 aiming at targeted drug delivery(TDD)for IBD treatment.Xuerui Zhang Lulu Song Lin Li Banghui Zhu Lina Huo Zhaoqing Hu Xinran Wang Jie Wang Mengyue Gao Jing Zhang Zichun Hua 2021Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2021,6,7:1
12Continuous activation of polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells during pregnancy is critical for fetal development显示文摘The maternal immune system is vital in maintaining immunotolerance to the semiallogeneic fetus for a successful pregnancy.Although studies have shown that myeloid-derived suppressor cells(MDSCs)play an important role in maintaining feto-maternal tolerance,little is known about the role of MDSCs in pregnancies with intrauterine growth retardation(IUGR).Here,we reported that the activation of polymorphonuclear myeloid-derived suppressor cells(PMN-MDSCs)during pregnancy was closely associated with fetal growth.In humans,class E scavenger receptor 1(SR-E1),a distinct marker for human PMN-MDSCs,was used to investigate PMN-MDSC function during pregnancy.Continuous activation of SR-E1+PMN-MDSCs was observed in all stages of pregnancy,accompanied by high cellular levels of ROS and arginase-1 activity,mediated through STAT6 signaling.However,SR-E1+PMN-MDSCs in pregnancies with IUGR showed significantly lower suppressive activity,lower arginase-1 activity and ROS levels,and decreased STAT6 phosphorylation level,which were accompanied by an increase in inflammatory factors,compared with those in normal pregnancies.Moreover,the population of SR-E1+PMN-MDSCs was negatively correlated with the adverse outcomes of newborns from pregnancies with IUGR.In mice,decreases in cell population,suppressive activity,target expression levels,and STAT6 phosphorylation levels were also observed in the pregnancies with IUGR compared with the normal pregnancies,which were rescued by the adoptive transfer of PMN-MDSCs from pregnant mice.Interestingly,the growth-promoting factors(GPFs)secreted by placental PMN-MDSCs in both humans and mice play a vital role in fetal development.These findings collectively support that PMN-MDSCs have another new role in pregnancy,which can improve adverse neonatal outcomes.Mengyu Shi Ziyang Chen Meiqi Chen Jingping Liu Jing Li Zhe Xing Xiaogang Zhang Shuaijun Lv Xinyao Li Shaowen Zuo Shi Feng Ying Lin Gang Xiao Liping Wang Yumei He 2021Cellular & Molecular Immunology2021,18,7:1

15Large Active Faults and the Wharton Basin Intraplate Earthquakes in the Eastern Indian Ocean显示文摘In recent years,great earthquakes occurred within the Wharton Basin in the eastern Indian Ocean,and they have been associa-ted with active faulting on the ancient oceanic crust.Large seismogenic faults were thought to be the fault reactivation on the ancient oceanic crust,but these phenomena are still unclear and require examination.This study used high-quality multibeam bathymetry and multichannel seismic data collected over the northern Ninetyeast Ridge to investigate detailed fault geometry,structure,and activity.We recognized 12 large linear active faults by integrating bathymetry maps and multichannel seismic reflection profiles.Our results showed that these faults have high angles,and they all displaced the basement and propagated to the seafloor with distinct fault scarps.They trended NWW-SEE with a spacing of 10–40km and were parallel to each other and the nearby subfault of the 2012 great intraplate earthquake,suggesting similar stress fields.These faults are also in agreement with the orientations of magnetic isochrons,implying their formation by seafloor spreading.Furthermore,regarding the strike-slip focal mechanism of 2012 earthquakes,we proposed that these faults were created early by a normal spreading process and then evolved into a strike-slip pattern since the ancient oceanic crust ap-proached the subduction zones.CHEN Jie GUO Laiyin YANG Xiaodong ZHANG Jinchang ZHANG Zhiwen SUN Mengyu LIN Jingxue 2023Journal of Ocean University of China2023,22,6:0
16A novel TNKS/USP25 inhibitor blocks the Wnt pathway to overcome multi-drug resistance in TNKS-overexpressing colorectal cancer显示文摘Modulating Tankyrases(TNKS),interactions with USP25 to promote TNKS degradation,rather than inhibiting their enzymatic activities,is emerging as an alternative/specific approach to inhibit the Wnt/β-catenin pathway.Here,we identified UAT-B,a novel neoantimycin analog isolated from Streptomyces conglobatus,as a small-molecule inhibitor of TNKS-USP25 protein-protein interaction(PPI)to overcome multi-drug resistance in colorectal cancer(CRC).The disruption of TNKS-USP25 complex formation by UAT-B led to a significant decrease in TNKS levels,triggering cell apoptosis through modulation of the Wnt/β-catenin pathway.Importantly,UAT-B successfully inhibited the CRC cells growth that harbored high TNKS levels,as demonstrated in various in vitro and in vivo studies utilizing cell line-based and patient-derived xenografts,as well as APC^(min/+)spontaneous CRC models.Collectively,these findings suggest that targeting the TNKS-USP25 PPI using a small-molecule inhibitor represents a compelling therapeutic strategy for CRC treatment,and UAT-B emerges as a promising candidate for further preclinical and clinical investigations.Hongrui Zhu Yamin Gao Liyun Liu Mengyu Tao Xiao Lin Yijia Cheng Yaoyao Shen Haitao Xue Li Guan Huimin Zhao Li Liu Shuping Wang Fan Yang Yongjun Zhou Hongze Liao Fan Sun Houwen Lin 2024Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2024,14,1:0
17Biomimetic three-layered membranes comprising(poly)-e-caprolactone,collagen and mineralized collagen for guided bone regeneration显示文摘The distinct structural properties and osteogenic capacity are important aspects to be taken into account when developing guided bone regeneration membranes.Herein,inspired by the structure and function of natural periosteum,we designed and fabricated using electrospinning a fibrous membrane comprising(poly)-e-caprolactone(PCL),collagen-I(Col)and mineralized Col(MC).The three-layer membranes,having PCL as the outer layer,PCL/Col as the middle layer and PCL/Col/MC in different ratios(5/2.5/2.5(PCM-1);3.3/3.3/3.3(PCM-2);4/4/4(PCM-3)(%,w/w/w))as the inner layer,were produced.The physiochemical properties of the different layers were investigated and a good integration between the layers was observed.The three-layeredmembranes showed tensile properties in the range of those of natural periosteum.Moreover,the membranes exhibited excellent water absorption capability without changes of the thickness.In vitro experiments showed that the inner layer of the membranes supported attachment,proliferation,ingrowth and osteogenic differentiation of human bone marrowderived stromal cells.In particular cells cultured on PCM-2 exhibited a significantly higher expression of osteogenesis-related proteins.The three-layered membranes successfully supported new bone formation inside a critical-size cranial defect in rats,with PCM-3 being the most efficient.The membranes developed here are promising candidates for guided bone regeneration applications.Jingjing Wu Mengyu Yao Yonggang Zhang Zefeng Lin Wenwu Zou Jiaping Li Pamela Habibovic Chang Du 2021Regenerative Biomaterials2021,8,6:0

19Digitally tunable optical delay line based on thinfilm lithium niobate featuring high switching speed and low optical loss显示文摘A tunable optical delay line(ODL) featuring high switching speed and low optical loss is highly desirable in many fields. Here, based on the thin-film lithium niobate platform, we demonstrate a digitally tunable on-chip ODL that includes five Mach–Zehnder interferometer optical switches, four flip-chip photodetectors, and four delayline waveguides. The proposed optical switches can achieve a switching speed of 13 ns and an extinction ratio of34.9 dB. Using a modified Euler-bend-based spiral structure, the proposed delay-line waveguide can simultaneously achieve a small footprint and low optical propagation loss. 20Endoscopy demand among county people in southeast China:A cross-sectional study显示文摘Objective The popularization of gastroenteroscopy and the introduction of comfortable medical care have further promoted the growth of people's demand,especially the demand for painless endoscopy.This cross-sectional study aims to investigate the current situation and change in county people's demand for endoscopy to promote the development of endoscopy centers in county hospitals in southeast China.Methods From October to December 2021,patients and their family members who came to the Gastroenterology Department in Suichang County People's Hospital of Zhejiang Province were randomly selected to complete the questionnaire.A total of 838 valid questionnaires were collected.Additionally,the original software data of the Endoscopy Center were sampled and retrieved(from October to December every year from 2018 to 2021)for statistical analysis of real-world data.Those who would choose painless endoscopy the next time in the valid questionnaires were included in the painless endoscopy group,while those who would choose ordinary endoscopy the next time were included in the ordinary endoscopy group.Results The stepwise forward binary logistic regression model analysis showed that,patients with“secondhand smoke exposure”were more willing to choose painless endoscopy(OR=1.459,95%CI:1.050-2.028,p=0.025).However,patients with an education level of“primary and below”and“junior high school”,and patients who are suffering from“currently experiencing abdominal distension”,were more willing to choose ordinary endoscopy(OR=0.270,95%CI:0.149-0.488,p<0.001;OR=0.528,95%CI:0.330-0.845,p=0.008;OR=0.536,95%CI:0.334-0.861,p=0.010).Patients with previous experience in painless endoscopy tended to choose painless endoscopy the next time,while patients with previous experience in ordinary endoscopy tended to choose ordinary endoscopy the next time(χ^(2)=140.97,p<0.001).From 2018 to 2021,the proportion of painless endoscopy has increased yearly(p<0.001).Most patients indicated that they would“regularly review gastroenteroscopy”(477/838,56.9%).Conclusions With Suichang County of Zhejiang Province as the representative,the demand for painless endoscopy for people's gastrointestinal cancer detection in southeast China has been increasing yearly.The development of endoscopy centers in county-level hospitals can basically meet the demand growth.Meanwhile,advanced concepts such as comfortable medical care and regular follow-up are gradually popularized at the grassroots level in southeast China.Huihui Yan Zhenghua Lin Shuangjing Gao Chenyu Fan Mengyue Jiang Liying Que Lanfang Zhou Yingdi Weng Jing Shu Tongyun Zhang Jian Hu Zhiqiang Liu Xi Ye Jianting Cai Guangfa Liao 2023Laparoscopic, Endoscopic and Robotic Surgery2023,6,1:0
