Dating of the Karakorum Strike-slip Fault显示文摘This paper mainly discusses the timing of the Karakorum strike-slip fault, and gives a brief introduction of its structures, offset, and deformational style. This fault strikes NNW-SSE. Asymmetrical folds, stretching lineation, S-C fabrics, feldspar and quartz (-porphyroclasts, domino structure, shear cleavages and faults in the fault zone are products of tectonic movements. They all indicate a dextral slip sense of faulting. Mylonitic bands are widely developed along this fault. Phengite appears, indicating rather high deformational pressure. Geochronological data indicate that the Karakorum strike-slip faulting occurred from 6.88(0.36 to 8.75(0.25 Ma. The cumulative displacement from Muztag Ata to Muji is about 135 km.ZHOU Yong, XU Ronghua, YAN Yuehua, PAN Yusheng,Tsanyao Frank YANG, Wei LO and WU Chunming Laboratory of Lithosphere Tectonic Evolution, Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100029Department of Geology, National Taiwan University, 245 Choushan Road, Taipei 106-17, TaiwanDepartment of Geology, Chinese Culture University, Hwa-kang, Yang-Ming-Shan, Taipei, Taiwan Institute of Geology, Chinese Academy of Geological Sciences, Beijing 100037 2001Acta Geologica Sinica(English Edition)2001,75,1:12
Oceanic environmental changes of subarctic Bering Sea in recent 100 years: Evidence from molecular fossils显示文摘The core sample B2-9 from the seafloor of the subarctic Bering Sea was dated with 210 Pb to obtain a consecutive sequence of oceanic sedimentary environments at an interval of a decade during 1890—1999. A variety of molecular fossils were detected, including n-alkanes, isoprenoids, fatty acids, sterols, etc. By the characteristics of these fine molecules (C27, C28, and C29 sterols) and their molecular indices (Pr/Ph, ∑C+22/∑C?21, CPI and C18∶2/C18∶0) and in con- sideration of the variation of organic carbon content, the 100-year evolution history of subarctic sea paleoenvironment was reestablished. It is indicated that during the past 100 years in the Arctic, there were two events of strong climate warming (1920—1950 and 1980—1999), which resulted in an oxidated sediment environment owing to decreasing terrigenous organic matters and increasing marine-derived organic matters, and two events of transitory climate cooling (1910 and 1970—1980), which resulted in a slightly reduced sediment environment owing to increasing terrigenous organic matters and decreasing marine-derived organic matters. It is re- vealed that the processes of warming/cooling alternated climate are directly related to the Arctic and global climate variations.LU Bing CHEN Ronghua ZHOU Huaiyang WANG Zipan CHEN Jianfang ZHU Chun 2005Science China Earth Sciences2005,48,4:11
Immunity-and-matrix-regulatory cells derived from human embryonic stem cells safely and effectively treat mouse lung injury and fibrosis显示文摘Lung injury and fibrosis represent the most significant outcomes of severe and acute lung disorders, including COVID-19.However,there are still no effective drugs to treat lung injury and fibrosis. In this study,we report the generation of clinical-grade human embryonic stem cells(hESCs)-derived immunity-and matrix-regulatory cells(IMRCs)produced under good manufacturing practice requirements, that can treat lung injury and fibrosis in vivo.We generate IMRCs by sequentially differentiating hESCs with serum-free reagents.IMRCs possess a unique gene expression profile distinct from that of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells(UCMSCs),such as higher expression levels of proliferative, immunomodulatory and anti-fibrotic genes. Moreover, intravenous delivery of IMRCs inhibits both pulmonary inflammation and fibrosis in mouse models of lung injury, and significantly improves the survival rate of the recipient mice in a dose-dependent manner, likely through paracrine regulatory mechanisms.IMRCs are superior to both primary UCMSCs and the FDA-approved drug pirfenidone, with an excellent efficacy and safety profile in mice and monkeys. In light of public health crises involving pneumonia, acute lung injury and acute respiratory distress syndrome, our findings suggest that IMRCs are ready for clinical trials on lung disorders.Jun Wu Dingyun Song Zhongwen Li Baojie Guo Yani Xiao Wenjing Liu Lingmin Liang Chunjing Feng Tingting Gao Yanxia Chen Ying Li Zai Wang Jianyan Wen Shengnan Yang Peipei Liu Lei Wang Yukai Wang Liang Peng Glyn Nigel Stacey Zheng Hu Guihai Feng Wei Li Yan Huo Ronghua Jin Ng Shyh-Chang Qi Zhou Liu Wang Baoyang Hu Huaping Dai Jie Hao 2020Cell Research2020,30,9:7
Mesenchymal stem cell treatment improves outcome of COVID-19 patients via multiple immunomodulatory mechanisms显示文摘The infusion of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients with mesenchymal stem cells(MSCs)potentially improves clinical symptoms, but the underlying mechanism remains unclear. We conducted a randomized,single-blind,placebo-controlled(29 patients/group)phase II clinical trial to validate previous findings and explore the potential mechanisms.Patients treated with umbilical cord-derived MSCs exhibited a shorter hospital stay(P=0.0198)and less time required for symptoms remission(P=0.0194)than those who received placebo.Based on chest images, both severe and critical patients treated with MSCs showed improvement by day 7(P=0.0099)and day 21(P=0.0084).MSC-treated patients had fewer adverse events.MSC infusion reduced the levels of C-reactive protein, proinflammatory cytokines, and neutrophil extracellular traps(NETs)and promoted the maintenance of SARS-CoV-2-specific antibodies. To explore how MSCs modulate the immune system,we employed single-cell RNA sequencing analysis on peripheral blood. Our analysis identified a novel subpopulation of VNN2+hematopoietic stem/progenitorlike(HSPC-like)cells expressing CSF3R and PTPRE that were mobilized following MSC infusion.Genes encoding chemotaxis factors—CX3CR1 and L-selectin—were upregulated in various immune cells.MSC treatment also regulated B cell subsets and increased the expression of costimulatory CD28 in T cells in vivo and in vitro. In addition,an in vivo mouse study confirmed that MSCs suppressed NET release and reduced venous thrombosis by upregulating kindlin-3 signaling.Together, our results underscore the role of MSCs in improving COVID-19 patient outcomes via maintenance of immune homeostasis.Rongjia Zhu Tingdong Yan Yingmei Feng Yan Liu Hongcui Cao Gongxin Peng Yanlei Yang Zhen Xu Jingqi Liu Wei Hou Xiaoyue Wang Zhe Li Luchan Deng Shihua Wang Jing Li Qin Han Hongling Li Guangliang Shan Yinghao Cao Xingyan An Jianshe Yan Zhonghui Zhang Huafei Li Xuebin Qu Jiaqi Zhu Shumin Zhou Jiao Wang Fengchun Zhang Jinming Gao Ronghua Jin Dayong Xu Yan-Qing Ma Tao Huang Shuang Peng Zhi Zheng Ilia Stambler Eric Gilson Lee Wei Lim Alexey Moskalev Antonio Cano Sasanka Chakrabarti Brun Ulfhake Huanxing Su Haoying Xu Sihuan Xu Feng Wei Holly MBrown-Borg Kyung-Jin Min Georgina Ellison-Hughes Calogero Caruso Kunlin Jin Robert Chunhua Zhao 2021Cell Research2021,31,12:5
T cell-depleting nanoparticles ameliorate bone loss by reducing activated T cells and regulating the Treg/Th17 balance显示文摘Estrogen deficiency is one of the most frequent causes of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women.Under chronic inflammatory conditions caused by estrogen deficiency, activated T cells contribute to elevated levels of proinflammatory cytokines, impaired osteogenic differentiation capabilities of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(BMMSCs),and disturbed regulatory T cell(Treg)/Th17 cell balance. However, therapeutic strategies that re-establish immune homeostasis in this disorder have not been well developed. Here,we produced T cell-depleting nanoparticles(TDNs)that ameliorated the osteopenia phenotype and rescued the osteogenic deficiency of BMMSCs in ovariectomized(OVX)mice.TDNs consist of monocyte chemotactic protein-1(MCP-1)-encapsulated mesoporous silica nanoparticles as the core and Fas-ligand(FasL)as the corona. We showed that the delicate design of the TDNs enables rapid release of MCP-1 to recruit activated T cells and then induces their apoptosis through the conjugated FasL both in vitro and in vivo.Apoptotic signals recognized by macrophages help skew the Treg/Th17 cell balance and create an immune tolerant state, further attenuating the osteogenic deficiency of BMMSCs and the osteopenia phenotype.Mechanistically,we found that the therapeutic effects of TDNs were partially mediated by apoptotic T cell-derived extracellular vesicles(ApoEVs),which promoted macrophage transformation towards the M2 phenotype. These findings demonstrate that TDNs may represent a promising strategy for treating osteoporosis and other immune disorders.Xiaoshan Yang Fuxing Zhou Pingyun Yuan Geng Dou Xuemei Liu Siying Liu Xiangdong Wang Ronghua Jin Yan Dong Jun Zhou Yajie Lv Zhihong Deng Shiyu Liu Xin Chen Ying Han Yan Jin 2021Bioactive Materials2021,6,10:4
TDOA and track optimization of UAV swarm based on D-optimality显示文摘To solve the problem of time difference of arrival(TDOA)positioning and tracking of targets by the unmanned aerial vehicles(UAV)swarm in future air combat, this paper adopts the TDOA positioning method and uses time difference sensors of the UAV swarm to locate target radiation sources.Firstly,a TDOA model for the target is set up for the UAV swarm under the condition that the error variance varies with the received signal-to-noise ratio. The accuracy of the positioning error is analyzed by geometric dilution of precision(GDOP).The D-optimality criterion of the positioning model is theoretically derived. The target is positioned and settled, and the maximum value of the Fisher information matrix determinant is used as the optimization objective function to optimize the track of the UAV in real time.Simulation results show that the track optimization improves the positioning accuracy and stability of the UAV swarm to the target.ZHOU Ronghua SUN Hemin LI Hao LUO Weilin 2020Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2020,31,6:4
TaCML36, a wheat calmodulin-like protein, positively participates in an immune response to Rhizoctonia cerealis显示文摘Sharp eyespot, mainly caused by the soil-borne fungus Rhizoctonia cerealis, affects wheat(Triticum aestivum L.)production worldwide. In this study,we isolated TaCML36 gene encoding a wheat calmodulin-like protein, and studied its defense role in protection against R.cerealis.Transcription of TaCML36 was significantly elevated by both R.cerealis infection and exogenous ethylene treatment.Transcription was higher in resistant wheat lines than in susceptible ones. There were copies of TaCML36 on chromosomes 5A,5B,and 5D.The TaCML36 protein is composed of 183 amino acids and contains two calcium-binding EFhand domains.Subcellular localization assays in wheat indicated that TaCML36 localizes in both the cytoplasm and nucleus.Virus-induced gene silencing and disease assessment indicated that compared to the controls,TaCML36-silenced wheat plants displayed significantly reduced resistance to R.cerealis and had greater fungal biomass, suggesting that knockdown of TaCML36 impaired host resistance.Knockdown of TaCML36 also significantly repressed expression of pathogenesis-related genes such as Chitinase 1,PDF35,and PR17C,the ethylene response factor-encoding gene TaPIE1,and ethylene biosynthesis gene ACO2.Collectively,our results suggest that TaCML36 positively participates in the innate immune response to R.cerealis infection by modulating expression of defense-associated genes possibly in the ethylene signaling pathway.Lin Lu Wei Rong Ronghua Zhou Naxin Huo Zengyan Zhang 2019The Crop Journal2019,7,5:3
Heat treatment bimetallic PdAu nanocatalyst for oxygen reduction reaction显示文摘Pd-based nanocatalyst is a potential oxygen reduction oxidation(ORR)catalyst because of its high activity in alkaline medium and low cost.In this work, bimetallic Pd Au nanocatalysts are prepared by one-pot hydrothermal method using triblock pluronic copolymers, poly(ethylene oxide)-poly(propylene oxide)-poly(ethylene oxide)(PEO19-PPO69-PEO19)(P123)as reducer and stabilizer, and heat-treatment method is applied to regulate catalyst structure and improve catalyst activity. The results show that the heat treatment can agglomerate the catalyst to a certain extent, but effectively improve the crystallinity and alloying degree of the catalyst. The ORR performance of the Pd Au nanocatalysts obtained under different heat treatment conditions is systematically investigated.Compared with commercial Pd black and Pd Au catalyst before heat treatment, the ORR performance of Au Pd nanocatalyst obtained after heat treatment for one hour at 500℃ has been enhanced. The Pd Au nanocatalysts after heat treatment also display enhanced anti-methanol toxicity ability in acidic medium.Qingyun Hu Wei Zhan Yifei Guo Laiming Luo Ronghua Zhang Di Chen Xinwen Zhou 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,1:3
An Accurate and Extensible Machine Learning Classifier for Flow-Level Traffic Classification显示文摘Machine Learning(ML) techniques have been widely applied in recent traffic classification. However, the problems of both discriminator bias and class imbalance decrease the accuracies of ML based traffic classifier. In this paper, we propose an accurate and extensible traffic classifier. Specifically, to address the discriminator bias issue, our classifier is built by making an optimal cascade of binary sub-classifiers, where each binary sub-classifier is trained independently with the discriminators used for identifying application specific traffic. Moreover, to balance a training dataset,we apply SMOTE algorithm in generating artificial training samples for minority classes. We evaluate our classifier on two datasets collected from different network border routers.Compared with the previous multi-class traffic classifiers built in one-time training process, our classifier achieves much higher F-Measure and AUC for each application.Gang Lu Ronghua Guo Ying Zhou Jing Du 2018China Communications2018,15,6:2
Integration of QTL detection and marker assisted selection for improving resistance to Fusarium head blight and important agronomic traits in wheat显示文摘Fusarium head blight(FHB), caused by Fusarium graminearum, is one of the most destructive wheat(Triticum aestivum L.) diseases worldwide. Identification of quantitative trait loci(QTL) conferring FHB resistance followed by marker assisted selection(MAS) is an efficient approach to breed FHB-resistant varieties. In this study, 38 additive QTL and 18 pairs of epistatic QTL for FHB resistance were detected in four environments using a population of recombinant inbred lines(RILs) derived from varieties Neixiang 188 and Yanzhan 1. Six QTL clusters were located on chromosomes 2D, 4B, 4D, 5A, 5D and 7B, suggesting possible polytrophic functions. Six elite lines with good FHB resistance and agronomic traits were selected from the same population using the associated markers. Our results suggest that MAS of multiple QTL will be effective and efficient in wheat breeding.Chao Lv Yanxia Song Lifeng Gao Qin Yao Ronghua Zhou Rugen Xu Jizeng Jia 2014The Crop Journal2014,2,1:2
Gene expression profiling related to powdery mildew resistance in wheat with the method of suppression subtractive hybridization显示文摘'Bainong 3217 × Mardler' BC5F4 wheat line at the initial stage of inoculation with powdery mildew pathogen (Erysiphe graminis DC) was used to construct a suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) cDNA library. Totally 760 ESTs were obtained through sequencing. Similarity analysis of ESTs based on BLASTn and BLASTx with the sequences in GenBank, in combination with macroarray differential screening, revealed that 199 ESTs of 65 kinds were known to be functionally disease resistance related. Based on the gene expression profiling in the present study, it is postulated that salicylic acid (SA) and MAP-related signal transduction pathways were involved in powdery mildew resistance in wheat. System acquired resistance genes were predominant in terms of kinds and quantity. With the initiation of cell defense reaction, the genes conferring anti-oxidation substances were largely expressed and thus cell protection mechanism was activated. 13Online blind source separation based on joint diagonalization显示文摘A new algorithm is proposed for joint diagonalization. With a modified objective function, the new algorithm not only excludes trivial and unbalanced solutions successfully, but is also easily optimized. In addition, with the new objective function, the proposed algorithm can work well in online blind source separation (BSS) for the first time, although this family of algorithms is always thought to be valid only in batch-mode BSS by far. Simulations show that it is a very competitive joint diagonalization algorithm.Li Ronghua Zhou Guoxu Yang Zuyuan Xie Shengli 2009Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2009,20,2:2

Effects of Overwintering on the Survival and Vector Competence of Aedes albopictus in the Urban Life Cycle of Dengue Virus in Guangzhou,China显示文摘The Pearl River Delta, where Aedes albopictus(Ae.albopictus)is the only vector for dengue transmission, has exhibited one of the highest dengue burdens in southern China in recent decades. However, whether dengue virus(DENV)can overwinter in Ae.albopictus in the Pearl River Delta has not been determined to date.In this study,300 field-derived Ae.albopictus mosquitoes from Guangzhou that were infected with the predominant endemic DENV-1 strain were investigated under simulated urban balcony environment from October 16,2016,to June 16,2017.The vertical transmission of DENV in the infected overwintering Ae.albopictus was analyzed. The DENV infected overwintering mosquitoes were evaluated for viral load at nine-time points using reverse transcription-quantitative PCR.The vector competence of the infected overwintering Ae.albopictus was also investigated by using suckling mice.Adult mosquitoes and larvae were found during the observation period. The vertical transmission of DENV-1 was documented. The DENV-1-positive rates between overwintering males and females had no difference. The proportion of DENV-1-positive overwintering mosquitoes decreased over time and had no difference beyond three months after the experiment.Overwintering mosquitoes can spread DENV-1 to hosts. No engorged mosquitoes at an ambient temperature below 15℃were observed. The ratio of engorged mosquitoes was positively correlated with the ambient temperature ranging from 15 to 30℃.Our results demonstrated that DENV can overwinter in Ae.albopictus in the Pearl River Delta,Ae.albopictus is the competent vector for DENV,and maintain autochthonous dengue outbreaks in the Pearl River Delta through vertical transmission.Yue Chen Ronghua Chen Jianrong Gao Chunyuan Li Jun Liu Zhijian Zhou Ruiwen Ren 2021Virologica Sinica2021,36,4:1
