| 2 | Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi in Wetland Habitats and Their Application in Constructed Wetland: A Review显示文摘Over the last three decades, the presence and functional roles of arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM) fungi in wetland habitats have received increasing attention. This review summarized the mycorrhizal status in wetlands and the effect of flooding on AM fungal colonization. Plants of 99 families living in 31 different habitats have been found to be associated with AM fungi, even including submerged aquatic plants and several plant species that were thought to be nonmycorrhizal(Cyperaceae, Chenopodiaceae, and Plumbaginaceae). The functions of AM fungi in wetland ecological systems could be concluded as their influences on the composition,succession, and diversity of the wetland plant community, and the growth and nutrition of wetland plants. Affecting the composition,succession, and diversity of the wetland plant community, AM fungi have positive, negative, or neutral effects on the performance of different wetland species under different conditions. The factors that affect the application effect of AM fungi in constructed wetland(CW) include flooding, phosphorus, plant species, aerenchyma, salinity, CW types, operation modes of CW, and wastewater quality.The generalist AM fungi strains can be established spontaneously, rapidly, and extensively in wastewater bioremediation technical installations; therefore, AM fungi can be considered ideal inhabitants of technical installations for the plant-based bioremediation of groundwater contaminated by organic pollutants or other contaminants. | 5 | Whole-genome resequencing of Osmanthus fragrans provides insights into flower color evolution显示文摘Osmanthus fragrans is a well-known ornamental plant that has been domesticated in China for 2500 years.More than 160 cultivars have been found during this long period of domestication,and they have subsequently been divided into four cultivar groups,including the Yingui,Jingui,Dangui,and Sijigui groups.These groups provide a set of materials to study genetic evolution and variability.Here,we constructed a reference genome of O.fragrans‘Liuyejingui’in the Jingui group and investigated its floral color traits and domestication history by resequencing a total of 122 samples,including 119 O.fragrans accessions and three other Osmanthus species,at an average sequencing depth of 15×.The population structure analysis showed that these 119 accessions formed an apparent regional cluster.The results of linkage disequilibrium(LD)decay analysis suggested that varieties with orange/red flower color in the Dangui group had undergone more artificial directional selection;these varieties had the highest LD values among the four groups,followed by the Sijigui,Jingui,and Yingui groups.Through a genome-wide association study,we further identified significant quantitative trait loci and genomic regions containing several genes,such as ethylene-responsive transcription factor 2 and Arabidopsis pseudoresponse regulator 2,that are positively associated with petal color.Moreover,we found a frameshift mutation with a 34-bp deletion in the first coding region of the carotenoid cleavage dioxygenase 4 gene.This frameshift mutation existed in at least one site on both alleles in all varieties of the Dangui group.The results from this study shed light on the genetic basis of domestication in woody plants,such as O.fragrans. | Hongguo Chen Xiangling Zeng Jie Yang Xuan Cai Yumin Shi Riru Zheng Zhenqi Wang Junyi Liu Xinxin Yi Siwei Xiao Qiang Fu Jingjing Zou Caiyun Wang | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 5 |

| 10 | Prevalence trend and risk factors for anemia among patients with human immunodeficiency virus infection receiving antiretroviral therapy in rural China显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To estimate the prevalence trend and risk factors for anemia in patients with human immunodeficiency virus(HIV) infection receiving antiretroviral therapy(ART) in rural China.METHODS: We conducted cross-sectional studies among the same population in 2010, 2012, and2014, based on data from standard medical record registers. Factors associated with anemia were evaluated using a logistic regression model.RESULTS: The number of patients with HIV infec-tion included in each cross-sectional study was1456 in 2010, 1531 in 2012, and 1567 in 2014, and the prevalence of anemia was 44.3%, 34.7%, and27.6%, respectively. The prevalence of anemia was lower in female patients in 2010 [odds ratio(OR)0.68; 95% confidence interval(CI) 0.55-0.85]; however, there was no difference by sex in 2012(OR0.90; 95% CI 0.72-1.11) and 2014(OR 1.05; 95% CI0.84-1.32). Patients with a higher level of education had a lower risk of anemia in 2014(OR 0.72; 95% CI0.56-0.92), but there was no difference in 2010(OR1.00; 95% CI 0.79-1.25) and 2012(OR 0.99; 95% CI0.79-1.24). Patients who had received a longer duration of ART had a higher risk of anemia in 2014(OR1.74; 95% CI 1.15-2.64), but there was no difference in 2010 and 2012(P > 0.05). Patients receiving Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) therapy had a lower risk of anemia.CONCLUSION: The prevalence of anemia among patients with HIV infection receiving ART decreased between 2010 and 2014 in Henan Province but was still higher than the prevalence in the general population of China. | 12 | Soil physical properties,nutrients,and crop yield with two-year tillage rotations under a winter wheat-summer maize double cropping system显示文摘Winter wheat and summer maize were planted from 2015-2017 to study the effects of different rotational tillage patterns on soil physicochemical properties,crop yield,water content,and fertilizer utilization.The tillage treatments were designed as wheat subsoiling-maize no tillage(WS-MN),wheat rotary tillage-maize subsoiling(WR-MS),wheat subsoiling-maize subsoiling(WS-MS),and conventional wheat rotary tillage-maize no tillage(WR-MN)as a control.Among the four treatments,WS-MN and WR-MS were single-season subsoiling treatments,and WS-MS was a two-season subsoiling treatment.The average soil bulk density decreased by 7.6%in the single-and double-season subsoiling groups compared to the WR-MN group,and the total porosity and noncapillary porosity increased by 10.7%and 12.2%,respectively.Single-or double-season subsoiling treatment was not conducive to water storage in the 0-20 cm soil layer but increased the water content of the 20-140 cm soil layer,and the average soil water content of the 0-140 cm layer was increased by 11.6%in the two-growing season treatment groups compared with the WR-MN group.In WS-MS and WS-MN groups compared with the WR-MN group,the soil ammonium nitrogen content was increased by an average of 18.6%in 0-20 cm soil and 16.8%in 20-100 cm soil;soil nitrate-nitrogen content was decreased by 13.5%in 0-100 cm soil;total organic carbon and microbial carbon contents in the 15-30 cm soil were increased by 18.1%and 12.7%,respectively;and soil urease,catalase,and alkaline phosphatase activities were increased by 46.1%,15.2%,and 23.1%,respectively.Annual crop yield and water use efficiency increased by 8.9%and 15.0%,respectively,in both the single-and double-season subsoiling treatment groups.This study demonstrated the advantages of subsoiling tillage and suggested that it is suitable for crop cultivation in the Haihe Plain,China. | Baozhong Yin Pan Liu Yongwei Cui Zhaohui Hu Xiangling Li Zhihua Pan Wenchao Zhen | 2022 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2022,15,1: | 2 |

Semi-implantable bioelectronics is currently a hot spot in biomedical engineering research area, because it not only meets the increasing technical demands for precise detection or regulation of biological activities, but also provides a desirable platform for externally incorporating complex functionalities and electronic integration. Although there is less definition and summary to distinguish it from the well-reviewed non-invasive bioelectronics and fully implantable bioelectronics, semi-implantable bioelectronics have emerged as highly unique technology to boost the development of biochips and smart wearable device. Here, we reviewed the recent progress in this field and raised the concept of “Semi-implantable bioelectronics”, summarizing the principle and strategies of semi-implantable device for cell applications and in vivo applications, discussing the typical methodologies to access to intracellular environment or in vivo environment, biosafety aspects and typical applications. | 16 | Enhanced antibacterial activity of silica nanorattles with ZnO combination nanoparticles against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus显示文摘Silica nanorattles(SNs) with zinc oxide(ZnO) combination nanoparticles are reported to inhibit methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) for the first time. SNs loaded with ZnO nanoparticles,which can produce free radicals, can cause severe damage to bacteria. ZnO nanoparticles not only provide free radicals in the combined nanostructures, which can inhibit the growth of bacteria, but also form nanorough surfaces with an irregular distribution of spikes on the SNs, which can enhance their adhesion to bacteria. Nanorough silica shell surfaces maintain the high activity and stability of small-sized ZnO nanoparticles and gather ZnO nanoparticles together to enhance production, which improves the efficiency of free radicals against the cytomembranes of bacterial cells. The enhanced adhesion of ZnO@SN nanoparticles to MRSA cells shortens the effective touching distance between free radicals and MRSA, which also improves antibacterial activity. As we expected, the ZnO@SN nanoparticles exhibit a better antibacterial effect than free ZnO nanoparticles against MRSA in vitro and in vivo. We also demonstrate that SNs loaded with ZnO nanoparticles can accelerate wound healing in MRSA skin inflammation models. | 17 | Differential gene expression in porcine SK6 cells infected with wild-type and SAP domain-mutant foot-and-mouth disease virus显示文摘Foot-and-mouth disease virus(FMDV) is the causative agent of a highly contagious disease in livestock. The viral proteinaseL^(rop) of FMDV is involved in pathogenicity, and mutation of theL^(rop) SAP domain reduces FMDV pathogenicity in pigs. To determine the gene expression profiles associated with decreased pathogenicity in porcine cells, we performed transcriptome analysis using next-generation sequencing technology and compared differentially expressed genes in SK6 cells infected with FMDV containingL^(rop) with either a wild-type or mutated version of the SAP domain. This analysis yielded 1,853 genes that exhibited a ≥ 2-fold change in expression and was validated by real-time quantitative PCR detection of several differentially expressed genes. Many of the differentially expressed genes correlated with antiviral responses corresponded to genes associated with transcription factors, immune regulation, cytokine production, inflammatory response, and apoptosis. Alterations in gene expression profiles may be responsible for the variations in pathogenicity observed between the two FMDV variants.
