| 2 | Blocking FSH inhibits hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis and reduces serum cholesterol显示文摘Menopause is associated with dyslipidemia and an increased risk of cardio-cerebrovascular disease.The classic view assumes that the underlying mechanism of dyslipidemia is attributed to an insufficiency of estrogen.In addition to a decrease in estrogen, circulating follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH)levels become elevated at menopause.In this study,we find that blocking FSH reduces serum cholesterol via inhibiting hepatic cholesterol biosynthesis.First,epidemiological results show that the serum FSH levels are positively correlated with the serum total cholesterol levels,even after adjustment by considering the effects of serum estrogen,in addition,the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia is significantly higher in peri-menopausal women than that in premenopausal women.Furthermore,we generated a mouse model of FSH elevation by intraperitoneally injecting exogenous FSH into ovariectomized (OVX)mice,in which a normal level of estrogen (E2)was maintained by exogenous supplementation. Consistently,the results indicate that FSH,independent of estrogen,increases the serum cholesterol level in this mouse model. | 4 | Genetic and biological characteristics of the globally circulating H5N8 avian influenza viruses and the protective efficacy offered by the poultry vaccine currently used in China显示文摘The H5N8 avian influenza viruses have been widely circulating in wild birds and are responsible for the loss of over 33 million domestic poultry in Europe, Russia, Middle East, and Asia since January 2020. To monitor the invasion and spread of the H5N8 virus in China, we performed active surveillance by analyzing 317 wild bird samples and swab samples collected from 41,172 poultry all over the country. We isolated 22 H5N8 viruses from wild birds and 14 H5N8 viruses from waterfowls. Genetic analysis indicated that the 36 viruses formed two different genotypes: one genotype viruses were widely detected from different wild birds and domestic waterfowls;the other genotype was isolated from a whopper swan. We further revealed the origin and spatiotemporal spread of these two distinct H5N8 virus genotypes in 2020 and 2021. Animal studies indicated that the H5N8 isolates are highly pathogenic to chickens, mildly pathogenic in ducks, but have distinct pathotypes in mice. Moreover, we found that vaccinated poultry in China could be completely protected against H5N8 virus challenge. | 9 | COP9 signalosome subunit PfCsnE regulates secondary metabolism and conidial formation in Pestalotiopsis fici显示文摘The COP9 signalosome(CSN) is a highly conserved multiprotein complex in all eukaryotes and involved in regulation of organism development. In filamentous fungi, several lines of evidence indicate that fungal development and secondary metabolism(SM) are mediated by the fifth subunit of CSN, called CsnE. Here we uncover a connection with CsnE and conidial formation as well as SM regulation in the plant endophytic fungus Pestalotiopsis fici. A homology search of the P. fici genome with CsnE, involved in sexual development and SM in Aspergillus nidulans, identified PfCsnE. Deletion of PfcsnE resulted in a mutant that stopped conidial production, but the conidia are recovered in a PfcsnE complemented strain. This indicates that PfCsnE is required for the formation of conidia. Secondary metabolite analysis demonstrated that the ΔPfcsnE strain produced more chloroisosulochrin, less ficiolide A production in comparison to wild type(WT). Transcriptome analysis of WT andΔPfcsnE strains indicated that PfcsnE impacts the expression levels of 8.37% of 14,797 annotated genes. Specifically, nine biosynthetic gene clusters(BGCs) were up-regulated and three BGCs were down-regulated by PfCsnE. | 12 | Study on the effects of organic matter characteristics on the residual aluminum and flocs in coagulation processes显示文摘Characteristics of organic matter may affect the residual aluminum after the coagulation process. This study reported the results of a survey for one drinking water treatment plant and measured the concentration of residual aluminum species with different molecular weights.Survey results indicated that humic acid or organic matter whose molecular weight was smaller than 1500 Da had significant effects on residual aluminum. All the treatment processes were ineffective in removing dissolved organic matter whose molecular weight was smaller than1500 Da. These results also indicated that the addition of sand or polyacrylamide in the coagulation process could greatly decrease the concentration of humic acid, and the concentration of residual aluminum also decreased. These results revealed that for all water samples after filtration, the majority of total residual aluminum existed in the form of total dissolved aluminum, accounting for 70%–90%. | 14 | Effect of electric field,stress and environment on delayed fracture of a PZT-5 ferroelectric ceramic显示文摘The combined effect of electric and mechanical loading on fracture of a PZT-5 ferroelectric ceramic in silicone oil has been investigated using a single edge notched specimen. The results show that the fracture toughness and the threshold stress intensity factor of delayed fracture in silicone oil, i.e. stress corrosion cracking, decrease linearly with the increasing applied electric field, either positive or negative. For the PZT-5 ferroelectric ceramics, delayed fracture in silicone oil under sustained positive or negative field can occur, and the threshold field for delayed fracture under sustained positive or negative field decreases linearly with applied stress intensity factor. | 15 | Portopulmonary hypertension: Current developments and future perspectives显示文摘Portopulmonary hypertension(POPH)is a severe pulmonary vascular disease secondary to portal hy-pertension and a subset of Group 1 pulmonary hypertension(PH).The pathological changes of POPH are indistinguishable from other PH phenotypes,including endothelial dysfunction,pulmonary vasocon-striction,and vascular remodeling.These changes cause a progressive increase in pulmonary vascular resistance and afterload of the right ventricle,eventually leading to severe right heart failure.The prognosis of POPH is extremely poor among untreated patients.POPH is associated with a high risk of death after liver transplantation(LT),and severe POPH is considered an absolute contraindication for LT.However,pulmonary arterial hypertension(PAH)-targeted therapies are administered to patients with POPH,and aggressive drug treatment significantly optimizes pulmonary hemodynamics and reduces the risk of death.Therefore,early diagnosis,aggressive PAH-targeted therapies,and proper selection of liver transplant candidates are vital to reduce the risk of surgery and improve clinical outcomes.This article aims to review the results of previous studies and describe biological mechanisms,epidemiology,po-tential risk factors,and diagnostic approaches of POPH.Moreover,we introduce recent therapeutic in-terventions for the early diagnosis of POPH and efficient clinical management decisions. | Huawei Xu Baoquan Cheng Renren Wang Mengmeng Ding Yanjing Gao | 2022 | Liver Research2022,6,1: | 2 |

| 17 | Precoder Design and Impulsive Noise Mitigation Scheme for Industrial Wireless Communications显示文摘In industrial wireless scenarios,the impulsive noise(IN)incurred by machine running or operation causes a serious influence on the powerlimited industrial wireless communications.It is challenging to ensure efficient and reliable transmission with quality of service(QoS)guarantee for machinetype communication devices(MTCDs).Considering the IN in the industrial process,this paper establishes the multiuser multiple-input single-output(MU-MISO)orthogonal frequency division multiplexing(OFDM)system model,which combines transmitter and receiver design.Two precoding schemes are designed to improve communication effectiveness at the transmitter.More specifically,the precoder design scheme which combines semi-definite relaxation(SDR)with difference-of-two-convex-function(D.C.)iterative algorithm,is developed by utilizing the Dinkelbach method to improve the system effectiveness.To decrease the computational complexity,we devise the quadratic-based fractional programming(QFP)algorithm,which decouples the variables by using a quadratic transform method.On this basis,the IN mitigation scheme is studied to reduce the system error rate(SER)at the receiver.With the goal of improving the reliability of industrial wireless communications,we propose a hybrid nonlinear IN mitigation(HNINM)scheme and then derive its closed-form expression of SER.The simulation results show that the proposed QFP algorithm achieves superior performance while the HNINM scheme decreases the SER of industrial wireless communications. | Yanjing Sun Xinyan Li Jiasi Zhou Ruirui Chen BowenWang Yanfen Wang | 2021 | China Communications2021,18,4: | 1 |
