1Humoral immune response to circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants elicited by inactivated and RBD-subunit vaccines显示文摘SARS-CoV-2 variants could induce immune escape by mutations on the receptor-binding domain(RBD)and N-terminal domain(NTD).Here we report the humoral immune response to circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants,such as 501Y.V2(B.1.351),of the plasma and neutralizing antibodies(NAbs)elicited by CoronaVac(inactivated vaccine),ZF2001(RBD-subunit vaccine)and natural infection.Among 86 potent NAbs identified by high-throughput single-cell VDJ sequencing of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from vaccinees and convalescents,near half anti-RBD NAbs showed major neutralization reductions against the K417N/E484K/N501Y mutation combination,with E484K being the dominant cause.VH3-53/VH3-66 recurrent antibodies respond differently to RBD variants,and K417N compromises the majority of neutralizing activity through reduced polar contacts with complementarity determining regions.In contrast,the 242–244 deletion(242–244Δ)would abolish most neutralization activity of anti-NTD NAbs by interrupting the conformation of NTD antigenic supersite,indicating a much less diversity of anti-NTD NAbs than anti-RBD NAbs.Plasma of convalescents and CoronaVac vaccinees displayed comparable neutralization reductions against pseudo-and authentic 501Y.V2 variants,mainly caused by E484K/N501Y and 242–244Δ,with the effects being additive.Importantly,RBD-subunit vaccinees exhibit markedly higher tolerance to 501Y.V2 than convalescents,since the elicited anti-RBD NAbs display a high diversity and are unaffected by NTD mutations.Moreover,an extended gap between the third and second doses of ZF2001 leads to better neutralizing activity and tolerance to 501Y.V2 than the standard three-dose administration.Together,these results suggest that the deployment of RBD-vaccines,through a third-dose boost,may be ideal for combating SARS-CoV-2 variants when necessary,especially for those carrying mutations that disrupt the NTD supersite.Yunlong Cao Ayijiang Yisimayi Yali Bai Weijin Huang Xiaofeng Li Zhiying Zhang Tianjiao Yuan Ran An Jing Wang Tianhe Xiao Shuo Du Wenping Ma Liyang Song Yongzheng Li Xiang Li Weiliang Song Jiajing Wu Shuo Liu Xuemei Li Yonghong Zhang Bin Su Xianghua Guo Yangyang Wei Chuanping Gao Nana Zhang Yifei Zhang Yang Dou Xiaoyu Xu Rui Shi Bai Lu Ronghua Jin Yingmin Ma Chengfeng Qin Youchun Wang Yingmei Feng Junyu Xiao Xiaoliang Sunney Xie 2021Cell Research2021,31,7:12
2Wavelet analysis of rainfall variation in the Hebei Plain显示文摘Based on the monthly and annual rainfall data of 1955―2000, the multi-time scales characteristics of seasonal and annual rainfall in the past 45 years in the Hebei Plain have been analyzed using Mexican Hat wavelet analysis in this article. The periodic oscillation of rainfall variation and the points of abrupt change at different time scales along the time series are dis-covered. According to the main periods, the trend of rainfall variation in the future has also been estimated. The results indicate that there are obvious periodic oscillations of 8―12 years and 4―6 years for the seasonal and annual rainfalls variation. The variation trend of the summer rainfall is in agreement with that of the annual rainfall and both of them have the main periods of 1 year and 12 years. 3Sisyphus effects in hydrogen electrochemistry on metal silicides enabled by silicene subunit edge显示文摘Nonmetal elements strictly govern the electrochemical performance of molybdenum compounds.Yet,the exact role played by nonmetals during electrocatalysis remains largely obscure.With intermetallic MoSi_2comprising silicene subunits,we present an unprecedented hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)behavior in aqueous alkaline solution.Under continuous operation,the HER activity of MoSi_2shows a more than one order of magnitude improvement in current density from 1.1 to 21.5 mA cm^(à2)at 0.4 V overpotential.Meanwhile,this activation behavior is highly reversible,such that voltage withdrawal leads to catalyst inactivation but another operation causes reactivation.Thus,the system shows dynamics strikingly analogous to the legendary Sisyphus’labor,which drops and recovers in a stepwise manner repeatedly,but never succeeds in reaching the top of the mountain.Isomorphic WSi_2behaves almost the same as MoSi_2,whereas other metal silicides with silicyne subunits,including CrSi_2and TaSi_2,do not exhibit any anomalous behavior.A thin amorphous shell of MoSi_2is observed after reaction,within which the Si remains partially oxidized while the oxidation state of Mo is basically unchanged.First-principles calculations further reveal that the adsorption of hydroxide ions on silicene subunit edges and the subsequent Si vacancy formation in MoSi_2jointly lead to the anomalous HER kinetics of the adjacent Mo active centers.This work demonstrates that the role of nonmetal varies dramatically with the electronic and crystallographic structures of silicides and that silicene structural subunit may serve as a promoter for boosting HER in alkaline media.Zechao Zhuang Yong Li Jiazhao Huang Zilan Li Kangning Zhao Yunlong Zhao Lin Xu Liang Zhou Lyudmila V. 4Epithelial ovarian cancer:An overview显示文摘Ovarian cancer is the second most common gyneco-logical cancer and the leading cause of death in the United States. In this article we review the diagnosis and current management of epithelial ovarian cancer which accounts for over 95 percent of the ovarian malignancies. We will present various theories about the potential origin of ovarian malignancies. We will discuss the genetic anomalies and syndromes that may cause ovarian cancers with emphasis on Breast cancer type 1/2 mutations. The pathology and pathogenesis of ovarian carcinoma will also be presented. 5Inhibition of Rac1-dependent forgetting alleviates memory deficits in animal models of Alzheimer's disease显示文摘Accelerated forgetting has been identified as a feature of Alzheimer's disease(AD),but the therapeutic efficacy of the manipulation of biological mechanisms of forgetting has not been assessed in AD animal models.Ras-re-lated C3 botulinum toxin substrate 1(Rac1),a small GTPase,has been shown to regulate active forgetting in Drosophila and mice?Here,we showed that Rac1 activity is aberrantly elevated in the hippocampal tissues of AD patients and AD animal models.Moreover,amyloid-beta 42 could induce Rac1 activation in cultured cells.The elevation of Rac1 activity not only accelerated 6-hour spatial memory decay in 3-month-old APP/PS1 mice,but also significantly contributed to severe memory loss in aged APP/PS1 mice.A similar age-dependent Rac1 activity-based memory loss was also observed in an AD fly model.Moreover,inhibition of Rac1 activity could ameliorate cognitive defects and synaptic plasticity in AD animal models.Finally,two novel compounds,identified through behavioral screening of a randomly selected pool of brain permeable small molecules for their positive effect in rescuing memory loss in both fly and mouse models,were found to be capable of inhibiting Rac1 activity.Thus,multiple lines of evidence corroborate in supporting the idea that inhibition of Rac1 activity is effective for treating AD-related memory loss.Wenjuan Wu Shuwen Du Wei Shi Yunlong Liu Ying Hu Zuolei Xie Xinsheng Yao Zhenyu Liu Weiwei Ma Lin Xu Chao Ma Yi Zhong 2019Protein & Cell2019,10,10:10
6Immunopotentiator Thymosin Alpha-1 Promotes Neurogenesis and Cognition in the Developing Mouse via a Systemic Th1 Bias显示文摘In early life, the immune system plays an essential role in brain development. In our study, the immunopotentiator thymosin alpha-1(Ta1) was peripherally administered to neonatal mice to explore whether the peripheral immunopotentiator affects neurodevelopment and cognition, and to further investigate the relevant mechanism. Compared with the control group, the Ta1 mice displayed better cognitive abilities in early life. The numbers of 5-bromodeoxyuridine(Brd U)+, nestin+,T-box transcription factor 2(Tbr2)+, Brd U+/doublecortin(DCX)+, Brd U+/ionized calcium-binding adaptor molecule 1(Iba1)+, and Brd U+/neuronal nuclei(Neu N)+ cells in the hippocampus were increased in the Ta1 group,accompanied by increased interleukin-4(IL-4), interferon-gamma, brain-derived neurotrophic factor, nerve growth factor, and insulin-like growth factor-1 as well as decreased IL-6 and tumor necrosis factor-a. Furthermore, the Ta1-group showed a Th1-polarized immune response, and the neurotrophic factors were positively associated with the Th1/Th2 ratio. More importantly, administration of Ta1 blocked lipopolysaccharide-induced impairment of hippocampal neurogenesis in early life. 7Genetic bases of source-,sink-,and yield-related traits revealed by genome-wide association study in Xian rice显示文摘The source-sink relationship determines the ultimate grain yield.We investigated the genetic basis of the relationship between source and sink and yield potential in rice.In two environments,we identified quantitative trait loci(QTL)associated with sink capacity(total spikelet number per panicle and thousand-grain weight),source leaf(flag leaf length,flag leaf width and flag leaf area),source-sink relationship(total spikelet number to flag leaf area ratio)and yield-related traits(filled grain number per panicle,panicle number per plant,grain yield per plant,biomass per plant,and harvest index)by genome-wide association analysis using 272 Xian(indica)accessions.The panel showed substantial variation for all traits in the two environments and revealed complex phenotypic correlations.A total of 70 QTL influencing the 11 traits were identified using 469,377 high-quality SNP markers.Five QTL were detected consistently in four chromosomal regions in both environments.Five QTL clusters simultaneously affected source,sink,source–sink relationship,and grain yield traits,probably explaining the genetic basis of significant correlations of grain yield with source and sink traits.We selected 24 candidate genes in the four consistent QTL regions by identifying linkage disequilibrium(LD)blocks associated with significant SNPs and performing haplotype analysis.The genes included one cloned gene(NOG1)and three newly identified QTL(qHI6,qTGW7,and qFLA8).These results provide a theoretical basis for high-yield rice breeding by increasing and balancing source–sink relationships using marker-assisted selection.Yun Wang Yunlong Pang Kai Chen Laiyuan Zhai Congcong Shen Shu Wang Jianlong Xu 2020The Crop Journal2020,8,1:8
8Design,methodology,and baseline of whole city‑million scale children and adolescents myopia survey(CAMS)in Wenzhou,China显示文摘Background:Myopia is the most common visual impairment in children and adolescents worldwide.This study described an economical and effective population-based screening pipeline and performed the project of a million scale children and adolescents myopia survey(CAMS),which will shed light on the further study of myopia from the level of epidemiology and precision medicine.Methods:We developed a novel population-based screening pattern,an intelligent screening process and internetbased information transmission and analysis system to carry out the survey consisting of school children in Wenzhou,China.The examination items include unaided distance visual acuity,presenting distance visual acuity,and noncycloplegic autorefraction.Myopia and high myopia were defined as spherical equivalent(SE)≤−1.00 diopters(D)and SE≤−6.00 D,respectively.Next,the reports of the vision checking were automatically sent to parents and the related departments.The CAMS project will be done two to four times annually with the support of the government.An online eyesight status information management system(OESIMS)was developed to construct comprehensive and efficient electronic vision health records(EVHRs)for myopia information inquiry,risk pre-warning,and further study.Results:The CAMS completed the first-round of screening within 30 days for 99.41%of Wenzhou students from districts and counties,in June 2019.A total of 1,060,925 participants were eligible for CAMS and 1,054,251(99.37%participation rate)were selected through data quality control,which comprised 1305 schools,and 580,609,251,050 and 170,967 elementary,middle,and high school students.The mean age of participants was 12.21±3.32 years(6-20 years),the female-to-male ratio was 0.82.The prevalence of myopia in elementary,middle,and high school students was 38.16%,77.52%,and 84.00%,respectively,and the high myopia incidence was 0.95%,6.90%,and 12.98%.Conclusions:The CAMS standardized myopia screening model involves automating large-scale information collection,data transmission,data analysis and early warning,thereby supporting myopia prevention and control.The entire survey reduced 90%of staff,cost,and time consumption compared with previous surveys.This will provide new insights for decision support for public health intervention.Liangde Xu Youyuan Zhuang Guosi Zhang Yunlong Ma Jian Yuan Changseng Tu MiaoMiao Li Wencan Wang Yaru Zhang Xiaoyan Lu Jing Li Xinting Liu Zhengbo Xue Meng Zhou Jie Sun Jinhua Bao Ming Li Fan Lu Hong Wang Jianzhong Su Jia Qu 2021Eye and Vision2021,8,1:7
9Solvent-Free Synthesis of Ultrafine Tungsten Carbide Nanoparticles-Decorated Carbon Nanosheets for Microwave Absorption显示文摘Carbides/carbon composites are emerging as a new kind of binary dielectric systems with good microwave absorption performance.Herein,we obtain a series of tungsten carbide/carbon composites through a simple solvent-free strategy,where the solid mixture of dicyandiamide(DCA)and ammonium metatungstate(AM)is employed as the precursor.Ultrafine cubic WC1-x nanoparticles(3-4 nm)are in situ generated and uniformly dispersed on carbon nanosheets.This configuration overcomes some disadvantages of conventional carbides/carbon composites and is greatly helpful for electromagnetic dissipation.It is found that the weight ratio of DCA to AM can regulate chemical composition of these composites,while less impact on the average size of WC1-x nanoparticles.With the increase in carbon nanosheets,the relative complex permittivity and dielectric loss ability are constantly enhanced through conductive loss and polarization relaxation.The different dielectric properties endow these composites with distinguishable attenuation ability and impedance matching.When DCA/AM weight ratio is 6.0,the optimized composite can produce good microwave absorption performance,whose strongest reflection loss intensity reaches up to-55.6 dB at 17.5 GHz and qualified absorption bandwidth covers 3.6-18.0 GHz by manipulating the thickness from 1.0 to 5.0 mm.Such a performance is superior to many conventional carbides/carbon composites.Yunlong Lian Binhua Han Dawei Liu Yahui Wang Honghong Zhao Ping Xu Xijiang Han Yunchen Du 2020Nano-Micro Letters2020,12,11:7

13Improving MapReduce Performance by Balancing Skewed Loads显示文摘MapReduce has emerged as a popular computing model used in datacenters to process large amount of datasets.In the map phase,hash partitioning is employed to distribute data that sharing the same key across data center-scale cluster nodes.However,we observe that this approach can lead to uneven data distribution,which can result in skewed loads among reduce tasks,thus hamper performance of MapReduce systems.Moreover,worker nodes in MapReduce systems may differ in computing capability due to(1) multiple generations of hardware in non-virtualized data centers,or(2) co-location of virtual machines in virtualized data centers.The heterogeneity among cluster nodes exacerbates the negative effects of uneven data distribution.To improve MapReduce performance in heterogeneous clusters,we propose a novel load balancing approach in the reduce phase.This approach consists of two components:(1) performance prediction for reducers that run on heterogeneous nodes based on support vector machines models,and(2) heterogeneity-aware partitioning(HAP),which balances skewed data for reduce tasks.We implement this approach as a plug-in in current MapReduce system.Experimental results demonstrate that our proposed approach distributes work evenly among reduce tasks,and improves MapReduce performance with little overhead.FAN Yuanquan WU Weiguo XU Yunlong CHEN Heng 2014China Communications2014,11,8:4

16Operation of the CSNS Penning surface H^- ion source显示文摘The accelerator complex of the China Spallation Neutron Source (CSNS) consists of a H- linear accelerator (linac) and a rapid cycling synchrotron (RCS). The linac contains a Penning surface H- ion source. The designed energy and the beam current of the source are 50 keV and 20 mA respectively, with a normalized root mean square (norm. rms.) emittance of 0.2π mm mrad. The manufactures and tests of the discharge chamber are in great progress. The construction of H- ion source test stand has been completed, and the operation of the source is also in progress. Stable H- ion beams with energy of 50 keV and current up to 50 mA are attained. 18Numerical Simulation of Solidification of Work Roll in Centrifugal Casting Process显示文摘A program on the solidification process of horizontal centrifugal casting coupled with eutectic carbides segregation has been developed in this paper.Due to the geometrical features of work roll,a cylindrical coordinate system was used.The temperature field of the outer layer at the end of filling process was imported as the initial temperature condition for the solidification process.The model of eutectic carbides segregation caused by different densities between eutectic MC and the molten steel was coupled in the program.The temperature field of the outer layer of work roll during horizontal centrifugal casting process was investigated.Results show that the outer layer has a 'sandwich shape' solid fraction manner.Results also indicate that the segregation of eutectic MC is quite severe during centrifugal casting process.It forms four zones of different content of carbides in radial direction.The simulated results of MC carbides segregation phenomenon agree with the experimental observations.Nannan Song Yikun Luan Yunlong Bai Z.A. 19Study on the temperature dependence of BGO light yield显示文摘The temperature dependence of BGO coupled with photomultiplier tube R5610A-01 was studied in the range of-30–30℃. The temperature coefficient of the BGO and R5610 A as a whole was tested to be-1.82%/℃. And the temperature coefficient of the gain of the R5610 A is-0.44%/℃ which was tested in the same situation using a blue LED.
