| 2 | Western medication plus Traditional Chinese Medicine preparations in patients with chronic heart failure:a prospective,single-blind,randomized,controlled,and multicenter clinical trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To assess the efficacy and safety in patients with chronic heart failure(CHF) of Western medication plus Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) preparations.METHODS: This prospective, single-blind, randomized, controlled, and multicenter clinical trial began on September 17, 2008, and was completed on June 25, 2011. A total of 340 inpatients, aged 40-79 years, with exacerbating CHF from 10 hospitals were enrolled and randomly allocated within 24 h of admission. The trial included three intervention periods. During hospitalization, the control group received western medication for CHF and the treatment group received Danhong injection with Shenfu injection or Shenmai injection. After discharge,all patients were treated with Qiliqiangxin capsules and Buyiqiangxin tablets or a placebo for 6 months. After the 6-month intervention, both groups received only continuous western medication. The primary endpoint was all-cause mortality.The efficacy assessments were as follows: B-type natriuretic peptide(BNP), Lee's HF score, the 6-minute walking test(6 MWT), left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF), and the Minnesota Living with Heart Failure Questionnaire(MLHFQ). The safety assessments were as follows: blood and urine routine examination, hepatic and renal function, electrolytes in blood and adverse events.RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the treatment group showed a 30.99% reduction in all-cause mortality and an improved survival rate.The treatment group showed greater improvement in 6 MWT(P = 0.02) than the control group on discharge, after 12-month follow-up, there was a time-group interaction for MLHFQ(P = 0.03). | 5 | Construction of a macromolecular structural model of Chinese lignite and analysis of its low-temperature oxidation behavior显示文摘The aim of this paper is to analyze the change in the active structure of lignite during the process of lowtemperature oxidation by constructing a molecular structure model for lignite. Using quantum computation combined with experimental results of proximate analysis, ultimate analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS), a structural model for the large molecular structure was constructed. By analyzing the bond lengths in the model molecule, the evolution law for the active structure of lignite was predicted for the process of low-temperature oxidation. In low-temperature oxidation,alkanes and hydroxyls are the primary active structures observed in lignite, though ether may also react. These active functional groups react with oxygen to release heat, thereby speeding up the reaction between coal and oxygen. | 6 | Improvements on radiation-hardened performance of static induction transistor显示文摘The radiation-hardened performances of static induction transistor (SIT) have been studied in depth in this paper. The effects of radiation of electron beam on the I-V characteristics, carrier distribution and potential distribution in the channel of SIT have been represented. A large number of electron-hole pairs are generated in the depletion region of reversely biased gate-channel PN junction. The radiation-generated electrons drift towards the drain region at high positive potential, while generated holes flow into gate region biased to the lowest potential. With the accumulation of holes in gate region, the gate potential is boosted, resulting in a decrease in the height of potential barrier in channel, and an increase in drain current. I-V characteristics of SIT in the presence of radiation have been theoretically derived, and compared with experimental results. With the increase in thickness of epitaxial layer, the radiation-hardened capability of SIT is continuously improved until the optimum thickness of 26 μm is reached. | 7 | Traditional Chinese Medicine syndrome patterns and Qi-regulating,chest-relaxing and blood-activating therapy on cardiac syndrome X显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To master the syndrome patterns characteristics and explore the effective therapy methods ofTraditional Chinese Medicine(TCM) for cardiac syndrome X(CSX).METHODS:The TCM syndrome characteristics were mastered and the TCM intervention programs were determined by clinical investigations for TCM syndrome patterns characteristics of CSX patients.Then,the clinical efficacy studies on TCM intervention for CSX were carried out through randomized controlled trials.RESULTS:CSX is a clinical syndrome with the main manifestations of chest pain and chest stuffiness,and Qi stagnation,phlegm retention and blood stasis are the basic symptoms of CSX.As a result,the Qi-regulating,chest-relaxing and blood-activating therapy integrated with some Western Medicines was adopted for treatment.The effect of Qi-regulating,chest-relaxing and blood-activating therapy can reduce the frequency and degree of angina,improve the symptoms and exercise the tolerance of patients,inhibit the inflammatory response of vascular walls and protect the function of vascular endothelial cells,which is better than that of the simple and conventionalWestern Medicine alone.CONCLUSION:A good effect was achieved in the integration of Chinese and Western Medicines for CSX.The therapy is worthy to be applied further in clinical practice.On the other hand,more long-term and randomised controlled studies with large samples are still required to further determine the clinical efficacy and safety of the therapy. | Yingfei Bi Jingyuan Mao Xianliang Wang Yongbin Ge Henghe Wang Zhenpeng Zhang | 2013 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2013,33,2: | 6 |
| 8 | Divergent patterns of foliar δ^(13)C and δ^(15)N in Quercus aquifolioides with an altitudinal transect on the Tibetan Plateau: an integrated study based on multiple key leaf functional traits显示文摘Aims With a close association with plant water availability,foliar δ^(13)C had been investigated extensively in alpine regions;however,foliar δ^(15)N has rarely been concurrently used as an indicator of plant nitrogen availability.Due to the positive correlations between leaf nitrogen con-tent and foliar δ^(13)C andδ15N found in previous studies,we expected that they should show consistent patterns along an altitudinal gradient.Methods To test our hypothesis,we measured foliar δ^(13)C andδ15N in conjunc-tion with multiple key leaf functional traits of Quercus aquifolioides,a dominant species of alpine forest on the eastern slopes of the sygera mountains,southeastern Tibetan Plateau from 2500 to 3800 m.Important findings(i)Contrary to our hypothesis,foliar δ^(13)C exhibited a significant pos-itive linear relationship with altitude;in contrast,foliarδ15N initially increased and subsequently decreased with altitude,the change in trend occurring around 3300 m.(ii)our analyses indicated that leaf internal resistance and stomatal conductance,rather than photosynthetic capacity indicated by leaf N concentration,appar-ently explained the altitudinal variation in foliar δ^(13)C,while differ-ences in foliar δ^(15)N were likely the result of soil N availability.(iii)Principal component analysis revealed a clear association between δ^(13)C and a tradeoff between water loss and carbon gain,indicated by traits related to gas exchange such as leaf thickness,density,sto-matal properties.In contrast,the second axis was associated withδ15N and nitrogen acquisition strategy in Q.aquifolioides across its altitudinal distribution,represented by traits related to nitrogen concentration and stomata per gram of leaf nitrogen. | Litong Chen Dan F.B.Flynn Xiaowei Zhang Xianliang Gao Ling Lin Jian Luo Changming Zhao | 2015 | Journal of Plant Ecology2015,8,3: | 4 |

| 10 | A comparative investigation of the properties of coal-water slurries prepared from Australia and Shenhua coals显示文摘Two coal samples of similar rank were chosen from Australia and China to investigate the differences in Coal-Water Slurry (CWS) made from them. The effect of ash content and particle size gradation on these properties was also studied. Different grinding times were used when grinding the two coals and particle size analysis of these ground coals was used to select samples with a ''double-peak'' particle size distribution. All the ''double-peak'' samples were used to prepare a CWS. The concentration, viscosity, fluidity, and stability of each CWS were measured. The results show that the properties of a CWS prepared from a coal sample with a ''double-peak'' size distribution are better than those CWS prepared from samples with a mono-modal particle distribution. The ash content of Australian coal is 21.72% higher than the ash content of Shenhua coal. The highest coal concentration in slurry from the Australia coal is 11.01% higher than in CWS from the Shenhua coal. The fluidity and stability of the CWS prepared from the Australian coal are both better than the fluidity and stability of slurry prepared from Shenhua coal. | 11 | Effects of the grinding process on the preparation and qualities of CWS显示文摘Two different grinding processes were examined to determine the effect grinding has on the quality of a CWS. A series of slurries was prepared from Australian (Au) and Chinese (YZ) coals. Both types of coal were ground by a Chinese (CUMT) and an Australian (JK) grinding process. The performance tests of the prepared CWS showed that fluidity of all slurries was acceptable. The concentration of the CWS from YZ coal ground by the CUMT grinding process was higher than when the JK grinding process was used. The highest concentration was 70.14% in this case. The concentration of the CWS prepared from Au coal by the JK grinding process was higher than when the CUMT grinding process was used. The highest con- centration in this case was 70.97%. | 12 | Facilities for Centralized Isolation and Quarantine for the Observation and Treatment of Patients with COVID-19显示文摘The coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)pandemic increased the burden on many healthcare systems and in the process,exposed the need for medical resources and physical space.While few studies discussed the efficient utilization of medical resources and physical space so far.Therefore,this study aimed to summarize experiences related to facilities used for centralized isolation for medical observation and treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic in China and to provide suggestions to further improve the management of confirmed cases,suspected cases,and close contacts.In China,three types of facilities for centralized isolation(Fangcang shelter hospitals,refitted non-designated hospitals,and quarantine hotels)underwent retrofitting for the treatment and isolation of confirmed and suspected cases.These facilities mitigated the immediate high demand for space.Moreover,in order to minimize infection risks in these facilities,regulators and governmental agencies implemented new designs,management measures,and precautionary measures to minimize infection risk.Other countries and regions could refer to China’s experience in optimally allocating social resources in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.As a conclusion,government should allocate social resources and construct centralized isolation and quarantine facilities for an emergency response,health authorities should issue regulations for centralized isolation facilities and pay strict attention to the daily management of these facilities,a multidisciplinary administration team is required to support the daily operation of a centralized isolation facility,in-depth studies and international collaboration on the centralized isolation policy are encouraged. | Xianliang Wang Jiao Wang Jin Shen John SJi Lijun Pan Hang Liu Kangfeng Zhao Li Li Bo Ying Lin Fan Liubo Zhang Lin Wang Xiaoming Shi | 2021 | Engineering2021,7,7: | 3 |
