| 2 | Characterization of volatile organic compounds in the urban area of Beijing from 2000 to 2007显示文摘Beijing is one of the most polluted cities in the world.In this study,the long-term and continuous measurements of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in the urban area of Beijing,specifically at Beijing 325 m Meteorological Tower,were conducted from 2000 to 2007.The annual record of VOC trends exhibited in two different phases was separated in 2003.Records show that VOC concentrations increased from 2000 to 2003 due to the abrupt increase in vehicle number.Contrarily,since 2003,there had been a decrease in VOCs concentrations as the policy on gasoline and air pollution was implemented.Toluene,benzene,and i-pentane are the chemicals that abound in and are directly related to vehicle activity,such as in vehicle exhaust and gasoline evaporation.Furthermore,records indicate that there had been seasonal variation in VOCs levels in that VOCs level in summer is higher than that in winter.As such,temperature is considered to significantly contribute to VOCs in Beijing.Records also show that VOCs level was high in the morning and during rush hours in the evening.In contrast,VOCs level was low during midday due to photochemical destruction with OH radical and dilution effect.In this study,a particular benzene to toluene ratio range (0.4-1.0) was used as the indicator of air propelled by vehicular exhaust.We also applied the correlation coefficients between BTEX and i-pentane to evaluate evaporation influence to ambient BTEX in the Beijing urban area. | Yuesi Wang Xiyan Ren Dongsheng Ji Junqang Zhang Jie Sun Fankun Wu | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,1: | 21 |

| 5 | Spatio-temporal variation of the wet-dry conditions from 1961 to 2015 in China显示文摘As an important part of the regional environment, the wet-dry climate condition is determined by precipitation and potential evapotranspiration(expressed as ETo). Based on weather station data, this study first calculated ETo by using the FAO56Penman-Monteith model. Then, the dryness index K(ratio of ETo to precipitation) was used to study the spatio-temporal variation of the wet-dry condition in China from 1961 to 2015; moreover, dominant climatic factors of the wet-dry condition change were discussed. The annual precipitation and ETo of the Qinling-Huaihe line were close to a balance(K≈1.0). The annual precipitation in most areas exceeded the ETo in the south of this line and the east of Hengduan Mountains(K<1.0), where the climate is wet.Furthermore, the precipitation in the northwest inland areas of China, where the climate is dry, was markedly lower than ETo(K≥4.0). The overall annual K of China fluctuated around the 55-year mean and its linear trend was not significant. However, a relatively wet period of about 10 yr(1987–1996) was recorded. The overall annual K of China showed strong cyclicality on the time scale of 3, 7–8, 11 and 26–28 yr, and regional differences of the annual K trends and cyclicality were large. The degrees of wetness in the Northwest China and western Qinghai-Tibet Plateau were substantially increased, whereas the degrees of dryness in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, Sichuan Basin, and Loess Plateau were markedly increased. | 7 | Evolution of the microstructure and solute distribution of Sn-10wt% Bi alloys during electromagnetic field-assisted directional solidification显示文摘The effects of forced flows at different velocities on microstructure and solute distribution during the directional solidification of Sn-10 wt% Bi alloys under a simultaneous imposition of a transverse static magnetic field(TSMF) and an external direct current(DC) have been investigated experimentally and numerically. The experimental results show that the solid-liquid interface will gradually become sloping with the increase of the forced flow velocity when the thermoelectric magnetic convection(TEMC)dominates the forced flow at solidification front. However, the interface will gradually become planar as the flow velocity further increases when the electromagnetic convection(EMC) dominates the forced flow. Moreover, when the flow velocity gradually increases, the primary dendrite spacing decreases from384 to 105 μm accordingly. The simulation results show that the solute distribution at the two sides of the sample can be significantly changed by the forced flow at solidification front. The rejected solute will be unidirectionally transported to one side of the sample along the TEMC(a low-velocity forced flow),thereby causing the formation of a sloping interface. However, the rejected solute will be returned back along the EMC(a higher-velocity force flow), which results in a planar interface. Furthermore, the solute content at the two sides of the sample under the forced flows at different velocities was measured. | 8 | CFD simulation of a gas-solid fluidized bed with two vertical jets显示文摘A computational fluid dynamics(CFD)model is used to investigate the hydrodynamics of a gas-solid fluidized bed with two vertical jets.Sand particles with a density of 2660 kg/m3 and a diameter of 5.0×10-4 m are employed as the solid phase.Numerical computation is carried out in a 0.57 m×1.00 m two-dimensional bed using a commercial CFD code,CFX 4.4,together with user-defined Fortran subroutines.The applicability of the CFD model is validated by predicting the bed pressure drop in a bubbling fluidized bed,and the jet detachment time and equivalent bubble diameter in a fluidized bed with a single jet.Subsequently,the model is used to explore the hydrodynamics of two vertical jets in a fluidized bed. | 16 | Anticarin-β shows a promising antiosteosarcoma effect by specifically inhibiting CCT4 to impair proteostasis显示文摘Unlike healthy, non-transformed cells, the proteostasis network of cancer cells is taxed to produce proteins involved in tumor development. Cancer cells have a higher dependency on molecular chaperones to maintain proteostasis. The chaperonin T-complex protein ring complex(TRiC) contains eight paralogous subunits(CCT1-8), and assists the folding of as many as 10% of cytosolic proteome.TRiC is essential for the progression of some cancers, but the roles of TRiC subunits in osteosarcoma remain to be explored. Here, we show that CCT4/TRiC is significantly correlated in human osteosarcoma,and plays a critical role in osteosarcoma cell survival. We identify a compound anticarin-β that can specifically bind to and inhibit CCT4. Anticarin-β shows higher selectivity in cancer cells than in normal cells. Mechanistically, anticarin-β potently impedes CCT4-mediated STAT3 maturation.
