| 2 | Effects of Epidural Spinal Cord Stimulation and Treadmill Training on Locomotion Function and Ultrastructure of Spinal Cord Anterior Horn after Moderate Spinal Cord Injury in Rats显示文摘Objective:To investigate the effects of epidural spinal cord stimulation(ESCS) and treadmill training on the locomotion function and ultrastructure of spinal cord anterior horn after moderate spinal cord injury in rats.Method:Nine adult female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly distributed into three groups:①spinal cord injury group(SI,n=3).②spinal cord injury plus ESCS group(SE,n=3).③spinal cord injury plus treadmill training group(TT,n=3).All rats received a moderate spinal cord injury surgery.Four weeks after surgery,rats in SE group received an electrode implantation procedure,with the electrode field covering spinal cord segments L2-S1.Four weeks after electrode implantation,rats received subthreshold ESCS for 30 min/d.Rats in TT group received 4cm/s treadmill training for 30min/d.Rats in SI group received no intervention,as a control group.All procedures in these three groups lasted four weeks.The open field Basso,Beattie and Bresnahan(BBB) scale was used before and after intervention to evaluate rats' hindlimb motor function.Result:After four weeks intervention,rats in TT group improved their open field locomotion scores to 20.In contrast,no significant improvement was observed in groups SI and SE.The morphology of synapses and neurons were similar regardless of whether rats had undergone ESCS,treadmill training or not.Conclusion:ESCS alone was not sufficient to improve the walking ability of spinal cord injured rats.ESCS or treadmill training alone might not contribute to the changes of ultrastructure in anterior horn of spinal cord that underlie the recovery of walking ability.Further research is needed to understand the contributions of combination of ESCS and treadmill training to the rehabilitation of spinal cord injured rats. | WANG Yizhao HUANG Xiaolin XU Jiang XU Tao FANG Zhengyu XU Qi TU Xikai YANG Peipei | 2009 | 中国康复医学杂志2009,24,6: | 4 |

| 7 | Beneficial effects of a decreased meal frequency on nutrient utilization,secretion of luteinizing hormones and ovarian follicular development in gilts显示文摘Background:Replacement gilts are typically fed ad libitum,whereas emerging evidence from human and rodent studies has revealed that time-restricted access to food has health benefits.The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of meal frequency on the metabolic status and ovarian follicular development in gilts.Methods:A total of 36 gilts(Landrace×Yorkshire)with an age of 150±3 d and a body weight of 77.6±3.8 kg were randomly allocated into one of three groups(n=12 in each group),and based on the group allocation,the gilts were fed at a frequency of one meal(T1),two meals(T2),or six meals per day(T6)for 14 consecutive weeks.The effects of the meal frequency on growth preference,nutrient utilization,short-chain fatty acid production by gut microbial,the post-meal dynamics in the metabolic status,reproductive hormone secretions,and ovarian follicular development in the gilts were measured.Results:The gilts in the T1 group presented a higher average daily gain(+48 g/d,P<0.05)and a higher body weight(+4.9 kg,P<0.05)than those in the T6 group.The meal frequency had no effect on the apparent digestibility of dry matter,crude protein,ether extract,ash,and gross energy,with the exception that the T1 gilts exhibited a greater NDF digestibility than the T6 gilts(P<0.05).The nitrogen balance analysis revealed that the T1 gilts presented decreased urine excretion of nitrogen(−8.17 g/d,P<0.05)and higher nitrogen retention(+9.81 g/d,P<0.05),and thus exhibited higher nitrogen utilization than the T6 gilts.The time-course dynamics of glucose,α-amino nitrogen,urea,lactate,and insulin levels in serum revealed that the T1 group exhibited higher utilization of nutrients after a meal than the T2 or T6 gilts.The T1 gilts also had a higher acetate content and SCFAs in feces than the T6 gilts(P<0.05).The age,body weight and backfat thickness of the gilts at first estrous expression were not affected by the meal frequency,but the gilts in the T1 group had higher levels of serum luteinizing hormone on the 18th day of the 3rd estrus cycle and 17β-estradiol,a larger number of growing follicles and corpora lutea,and higher mRNA expression levels of genes related to follicular development on the 19th day of the 3rd estrus cycle.Conclusions:The current findings revealed the benefits of a lower meal frequency equal feed intake on nutrient utilization and reproductive function in replacement gilts,and thus provide new insights into the nutritional strategy for replacement gilts,and the dietary pattern for other mammals,such as humans. | Lun Hua Lianpeng Zhao Zhengyu Mao Wentao Li Jing Li Xuemei Jiang Lianqiang Che Shengyu Xu Yan Lin Zhengfeng Fang Bin Feng De Wu Yong Zhuo | 2021 | Journal of Animal Science and Biotechnology2021,12,3: | 1 |
| 8 | Brake wear-derived particles:Single-particle mass spectral signatures and real-world emissions显示文摘Brake wear is an important but unregulated vehicle-related source of atmospheric particulate matter(PM).The single-particle spectral fingerprints of brake wear particles(BWPs)provide essential information for understanding their formation mechanism and atmospheric contributions.Herein,we obtained the single-particle mass spectra of BWPs by combining a brake dynamometer with an online single particle aerosol mass spectrometer and quantified real-world BWP emissions through a tunnel observation in Tianjin,China.The pure BWPs mainly include three distinct types of particles,namely,Bacontaining particles,mineral particles,and carbon-containing particles,accounting for 44.2%,43.4%,and 10.3%of the total BWP number concentration,respectively.The diversified mass spectra indicate complex BWP formation pathways,such as mechanical,phase transition,and chemical processes.Notably,the mass spectra of Ba-containing particles are unique,which allows them to serve as an excellent indicator for estimating ambient BWP concentrations.By evaluating this indicator,we find that approximately 4.0%of the PM in the tunnel could be attributable to brake wear;the real-world fleet-average emission factor of 0.28 mg km1 veh1 is consistent with the estimation obtained using the receptor model.The results presented herein can be used to inform assessments of the environmental and health impacts of BWPs to formulate effective emissions control policies. | Jiayuan Liu Jianfei Peng Zhengyu Men Tiange Fang Jinsheng Zhang Zhuofei Du Qijun Zhang Ting Wang Lin Wu Hongjun Mao | 2023 | Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2023,,3: | 0 |
