1Therapeutic effect of acupuncture and massage for shoulder-hand syndrome in hemiplegia patients:a clinical two-center randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the therapeutic effects of acupuncture and massage for shoulder-hand syndrome in hemiplegia patients.METHODS:One hundred and twenty hemiplegia patients with stage I shoulder-hand syndrome were randomly divided into a group treated with standardized electric acupuncture and massage,and a group treated with rehabilitation therapy for 6 weeks.The primary indices evaluated were pain on passive movement of the shoulder using the numeric pain rating scale(NPRS),and the number of patients with shoulder-hand syndrome at Steinbrocker stage II or III after treatment.The secondary indices were Fugl-Meyer evaluation of functional movement of the upper limb and hand using the modified rankin scale(MRS).RESULTS:At post-treatment evaluation and a 12-week follow-up visit,NPRS score,number of patients with stage II or III shoulder-hand syndrome,and MRS score were all improved in the acupuncture-massage group compared with the rehabilitation group(P<0.05).On Fugl-Meyer evaluation,functional movement of the upper limb was also improved in the acupuncture-massage group compared with the rehabilitation group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Standardized acupuncture-massage therapy may have curative effects on shoulder-hand syndrome in hemiplegia patients.Ning Li Fengwei Tian Chengwei Wang Pengming Yu Xi Zhou Qian Wen Xiulan Qiao Lu Huang 2012Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,3:25

4Foveated glasses-free 3D display with ultrawide field of view via a large-scale 2D-metagrating complex显示文摘Glasses-free three-dimensional(3D)displays are one of the game-changing technologies that will redefine the display industry in portable electronic devices.However,because of the limited resolution in state-of-the-art display panels,current 3D displays suffer from a critical trade-off among the spatial resolution,angular resolution,and viewing angle.Inspired by the so-called spatially variant resolution imaging found in vertebrate eyes,we propose 3D display with spatially variant information density.Stereoscopic experiences with smooth motion parallax are maintained at the central view,while the viewing angle is enlarged at the periphery view.It is enabled by a large-scale 2D-metagrating complex to manipulate dot/linear/rectangular hybrid shaped views.Furthermore,a video rate full-color 3D display with an unprecedented 160°horizontal viewing angle is demonstrated.With thin and light form factors,the proposed 3D system can be integrated with off-the-shelf purchased flat panels,making it promising for applications in portable electronics.Jianyu Hua Erkai Hua Fengbin Zhou Jiacheng Shi Chinhua Wang Huigao Duan Yueqiang Hu Wen Qiao Linsen Chen 2021Light(Science & Applications)2021,10,11:14
5Allergy-related Evidences in Relation to Serum IgE:Data from the China State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease,2008-2013显示文摘Objective To investigate the serum total IgE(tlgE) and specific IgE(slgE) to common allergens among allergic patients in Guangzhou,China.Methods 7 085 patients were examined for tlgE and slgE to 15 allergens,based on the protocols of reversed enzyme allergosorbent test and the sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay.Results 3 758(53.04%) patients tested positive for tlgE,and 4 640(65.49%) for slgE.Der pteronyssinus,Der farinae,eggs,and cow's milk were the most common allergens leading to higher positive rates of slgE responses.Several peaks of sensitization were:Der pteronyssinus,Der farinae,and Blomia tropicalis at age 10-12;cow's milk at age below 3;eggs at age 4-6.The mean level and positive rate of tlgE tended to increase in subjects sensitized to more allergens.Sensitization to Der pteronyssinus(OR,1.6;P<0.05),Der farinae(OR,1.5;P<0.05),Blomia tropicalis(OR,1.4;P<0.05),Blattella germanica(OR,1.5;P<0.05),cow's milk(OR,1.3;P<0.05),and soy beans(OR,2.0;P<0.05) were independently correlated with allergy-related conditions in preliminary diagnosis.Conclusion The major allergens in Guangzhou include Der pteronyssinus,Der farinae,cow's milk,and eggs.Sensitization to these allergens appears to be predictors of allergy-related disorder.SUN Bao Qing CHEN De Hui ZHENG Pei Yan HUANG Hui Min LUO Wen Ting ZENG Guang Qiao ZHANG Xiao Wen 2014Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2014,27,7:11

7Chinese herbal medicine reduces mortality in patients with severe and critical coronavirus disease 2019: a retrospective cohort study显示文摘This study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of Chinese herbal medicine(CHM)in patients with severe/critical coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).In this retrospective study,data were collected from 662 patients with severe/critical COVID-19 who were admitted to a designated hospital to treat patients with severe COVID-19 in Wuhan before March 20,2020.All patients were divided into an exposed group(CHM users)and a control group(non-users).After propensity score matching in a 1:1 ratio,156 CHM users were matched by propensity score to 156 non-users.No significant differences in seven baseline clinical variables were found between the two groups of patients.All-cause mortality was reported in 13 CHM users who died and 36 non-users who died.After multivariate adjustment,the mortality risk of CHM users was reduced by 82.2%(odds ratio 0.178,95%CI 0.076–0.418;P<0.001)compared with the non-users.Secondly,age(odds ratio 1.053,95%CI 1.023–1.084;P<0.001)and the proportion of severe/critical patients(odds ratio 0.063,95%CI 0.028–0.143;P<0.001)were the risk factors of mortality.These results show that the use of CHM may reduce the mortality of patients with severe/critical COVID-19.Guohua Chen Wen Su Jiayao Yang Dan Luo Ping Xia Wen Jia Xiuyang Li Chuan Wang Suping Lang Qingbin Meng Ying Zhang Yuhe Ke An Fan Shuo Yang Yujiao Zheng Xuepeng Fan Jie Qiao Fengmei Lian Li Wei Xiaolin Tong 2020Frontiers of Medicine2020,14,6:10
8Measurement Uncertainty Evaluation of Conicity Error Inspected on CMM显示文摘The cone is widely used in mechanical design for rotation, centering and fixing. Whether the conicity error can be measured and evaluated accurately will directly influence its assembly accuracy and working performance. According to the new generation geometrical product specification(GPS), the error and its measurement uncertainty should be evaluated together. The mathematical model of the minimum zone conicity error is established and an improved immune evolutionary algorithm(IIEA) is proposed to search for the conicity error. In the IIEA, initial antibodies are firstly generated by using quasi-random sequences and two kinds of affinities are calculated. Then, each antibody clone is generated and they are self-adaptively mutated so as to maintain diversity. Similar antibody is suppressed and new random antibody is generated. Because the mathematical model of conicity error is strongly nonlinear and the input quantities are not independent, it is difficult to use Guide to the expression of uncertainty in the measurement(GUM) method to evaluate measurement uncertainty. Adaptive Monte Carlo method(AMCM) is proposed to estimate measurement uncertainty in which the number of Monte Carlo trials is selected adaptively and the quality of the numerical results is directly controlled. The cone parts was machined on lathe CK6140 and measured on Miracle NC 454 Coordinate Measuring Machine(CMM). The experiment results confirm that the proposed method not only can search for the approximate solution of the minimum zone conicity error(MZCE) rapidly and precisely, but also can evaluate measurement uncertainty and give control variables with an expected numerical tolerance. 9Comparative analysis of robotic vs laparoscopic radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer显示文摘BACKGROUND Cervical cancer is the most common gynecological malignancy,ranking first in female reproductive malignancies with more than 500000 new cases and 275000 deaths each year.Traditionally,open radical hysterectomy is considered the standard surgical procedure for the treatment of resectable cervical cancer.The latest guidelines from the National Comprehensive Cancer Network and the European Society of Gynecological Oncology suggest that open surgery and laparoscopic surgery(using traditional laparoscopic or robotic techniques)are the main surgical approaches for radical hysterectomy for patients with stage IA2-IIA cervical cancer.Robotic surgery has been increasingly used in abdominal surgery and has shown more beneficial effects.AIM To analyse the perioperative conditions,complications,and short-term and longterm effects in patients undergoing robotic radical hysterectomy(RRH)and laparoscopic radical hysterectomy(LRH)to compare their clinical efficacy,safety,and feasibility.METHODS The perioperative data of patients undergoing RRH and LRH were extracted and collected from the database of surgical treatments for cervical cancer for statistical analysis.RESULTS Of the patients,342 underwent LRH for cervical cancer,and 216 underwent RRH.The total complication rate was 9.65%(20 patients)in the RRH group and 17.59%(60 patients)in the LRH group.The complication rate was significantly lower in the RRH group than in the LRH group.There was no significant difference in the follow-up period(P=0.658).The total recurrence rates were 15.7%and 12%in the RRH and LRH groups,respectively.The progression-free survival time was 28.91±15.68 mo and 28.34±15.13 mo in the RRH and LRH groups,respectively(P=0.669).The overall survival(OS)rates were 92.13%and 94.45%in the RRH and LRH groups,respectively(P=0.292).The OS time was 29.87±15.92 mo and 29.41±15.14 mo in the RRH and LRH groups,respectively(P=0.732).The survival curves and the progression-free survival curves were not statistically significantly different between the two groups(P=0.407 and 0.28,respectively).CONCLUSION RRH is associated with significantly less operative time and blood loss than LRH.The two procedures have similar complication rates,OS,and progression-free survival time.Li Chen Li-Ping Liu Na Wen Xiao Qiao Yuan-Guang Meng 2019World Journal of Clinical Cases2019,7,20:9
10Soil Organic Matter Fractions under Different Vegetation Types in Permafrost Regions along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway, North of Kunlun Mountains, China显示文摘As a key attribute of soil quality, soil organic matter(SOM) and its different fractions play an important role in regulating soil nutrient cycling and soil properties.This study evaluated the soil carbon(C) and nitrogen(N) concentrations in different SOM fractions(light– and heavy fractions,microbial biomass) under different vegetation types and analyzed their influencing factors in continuous permafrost regions along the Qinghai-Tibet Highway in the North of Kunlun Mountains, China.Soil samples were collected in pits under four vegetation types — Alpine swamp meadow(ASM), Alpine meadow(AM), Alpine steppe(AS) and Alpine desert(AD) — at the depth of 0-50 cm.The vegetation coverage was the highest at ASM and AM, followed byAS and AD.The results indicated that the concentrations of light fraction carbon(LFC) and nitrogen(LFN), and microbial biomass carbon(MBC)and nitrogen(MBN) decreased as follows: ASM > AM >AS > AD, with the relatively stronger decrease of LFC,whereas the heavy fraction carbon(HFC) and nitrogen(HFN) concentrations were lower in AS soils than in the AD soils.The relatively higher proportions of LFC/SOC and MBC/SOC in the 0-10 cm depth under the ASM soils are mainly resulted from its higher substrate input and soil moisture content.Correlation analysis demonstrated that aboveground biomass, soil moisture content, soil organic carbon(SOC) and total nitrogen(TN) positively correlated to LFC, LFN, HFC, HFN, MBC and MBN, while p H negatively correlated to LFC, LFN, HFC, HFN, MBC and MBN.There was no relationship between active layer thickness and SOM fractions, except for the LFC.Results suggested that vegetation cover, soil moisture content, and SOC and TN concentrations were significantly correlated with the amount and availability of SOM fractions, while permafrost had less impact on SOM fractions in permafrost regions of the central Qinghai–Tibet Plateau.SHANG Wen ZHAO Lin WU Xiao-dong LI Yu-qiang YUE Guang-yang ZHAO Yong-hua QIAO Yong-ping 2015Journal of Mountain Science2015,12,4:9

13Response of root morphology, physiology and endogenous hormones in maize(Zea mays L.) to potassium deficiency显示文摘Potassium(K)deficiency is one of the major abiotic stresses which has drastically influenced maize growth and yield around the world.However,the physiological mechanism of K deficiency tolerance is not yet fully understood.To identify the differences of root morphology,physiology and endogenous hormones at different growing stages,two maize inbred lines 90-21-3(tolerance to K deficiency)and D937(sensitive to K deficiency)were cultivated in the long-term K fertilizer experimental pool under high potassium(+K)and low potassium(-K)treatments.The results indicated that the root length,volume and surface area of 90-21-3 were significantly higher than those of D937 under-K treatment at different growing stages.It was noteworthy that the lateral roots of 90-21-3 were dramatically higher than those of D937 at tasselling and flowering stage under-K treatment.Meanwhile,the values of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and oxidizing force of 90-21-3were apparently higher than those of D937,whereas malondialdehyde(MDA)content of D937 was obviously increased.Compared with+K treatment,the indole-3-acetic acid(IAA)content of 90-21-3 was largely increased under-K treatment,whereas it was sharply decreased in D937.On the contrary,abscisic acid(ABA)content of 90-21-3 was slightly increased,but that of D937 was significantly increased.The zeatin riboside(ZR)content of 90-21-3 was significantly decreased,while that of D937 was relatively increased.These results indicated that the endogenous hormones were stimulated in 90-21-3to adjust lateral root development and to maintain the physiology function thereby alleviating K deficiency.ZHAO Xin-hua YU Hai-qiu WEN Jing WANG Xiao-guang DU Qi WANG Jing WANG Qiao 2016Journal of Integrative Agriculture2016,15,4:8

15Alcohol Drinking, Dyslipidemia, and Diabetes: A Population-based Prospective Cohort Study among Inner Mongolians in China显示文摘Objective No previous studies have evaluated the association between dyslipidemia,alcohol drinking,and diabetes in an Inner Mongolian population.We aimed to evaluate the co-effects of drinking and dyslipidemia on diabetes incidence in this population.Methods The present study was based on 1880 participants from a population-based prospective cohort study among Inner Mongolians living in China.Participants were classified into four subgroups according to their drinking status and dyslipidemia.Multivariate logistic regression analysis and receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curves were used to evaluate the association between alcohol drinking,dyslipidemia,and diabetes.Results During the follow-up period,203 participants were found to have developed diabetes.The multivariable-adjusted odds ratios(95% confidence interval) for the incidence of non-dyslipidemia/drinkers,dyslipidemia/non-drinkers,and dyslipidemia/drinkers in diabetic patients were 1.40(0.82-2.37),1.73(1.17-2.55),and 2.31(1.38-3.87),respectively,when compared with non-dyslipidemia/non-drinkers.The area under the ROC curve for a model containing dyslipidemia and drinking status along with conventional factors(AUC=0.746) was significantly(P=0.003) larger than the one containing only conventional factors(AUC=0.711).Conclusion The present study showed that dyslipidemia was an independent risk factor for diabetes,and that drinkers with dyslipidemia had the highest risk of diabetes in the Mongolian population.These findings suggest that dyslipidemia and drinking status may be valuable in predicting diabetes incidence.LIANG Zhu QIU Qiao Yan WU Jia Hui ZHOU Jing Wen XU Tian ZHANG Ming Zhi ZHANG Yong Hong ZHANG Shao Yan 2016Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2016,29,8:7

18Untreated Prior Pulmonary Tuberculosis Adversely Affects Pregnancy Outcomes in Infertile Women Undergoing in vitro Fertilization and Embryo Transfer: A Large Retrospective Cohort Study显示文摘Objective Prior pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB) on chest X-ray(CXR) was commonly found in infertile patients receiving examinations before in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer(IVF-ET). It was unclear whether untreated PTB would affect pregnancy outcomes after IVF-ET.Method We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 14,254 infertile patients who had received IVFET at Peking University Third Hospital in 2017. Prior PTB was defined as the presence of signs suggestive of old or inactive PTB on CXR, with or without a clinical TB history. Patients who had prior PTB on CXR but had not received a clinical diagnosis and anti-TB therapy were included for analysis. Live birth,clinical pregnancy, and miscarriage rates were compared between the untreated PTB and non-PTB groups.Results The untreated PTB group had significantly lower clinical pregnancy(31.7% vs. 38.1%) and live birth(23.8% vs. 30.6%) rates than the non-PTB group(both P < 0.001). 19Graphene/phosphorene nano-heterojunction:facile synthesis, nonlinear optics, and ultrafast photonics applications with enhanced performance显示文摘Owing to its thickness-modulated direct energy band gap, relatively strong light–matter interaction, and unique nonlinear optical response at a long wavelength, few-layer black phosphorus, or phosphorene, becomes very attractive in ultrafast photonics applications. Herein, we synthesized a graphene/phosphorene nano-heterojunction using a liquid phase-stripping method. Tiny lattice distortions in graphene and phosphorene suggest the formation of a nano-heterojunction between graphene and phosphorene nanosheets. In addition, we systematically investigate their nonlinear optical responses at different wavelength regimes. Our experiments indicate that the combined advantages of ultrafast relaxation, broadband response in graphene, and the strong light–matter interaction in phosphorene can be combined together by nano-heterojunction. We have further fabricated two-dimensional(2D) nano-heterojunction based optical saturable absorbers and integrated them into an erbium-doped fiber laser to demonstrate the generation of a stable ultrashort pulse down to 148 fs. Our results indicate that a graphene/phosphorene nano-heterojunction can operate as a promising saturable absorber for ultrafast laser systems with ultrahigh pulse energy and ultranarrow pulse duration.
