1Effect of ginseng polysaccharides and dendritic cells on the balance of Th1/Th2 T helper cells in patients with non-small cell lung cancer显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of thorascopic administration of ginseng polysaccharides(GPS)plus dendritic cells(DC) on T helper cell type 1/T helper cell type 2(Th1/Th2) balance in patients with non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC).METHODS: A total of 96 NSCLC patients were divided evenly into two groups. The control group was treated with DCs alone and the treatment group was treated with DCs plus GPS. After DCs and GPS were administered thoracoscopically, once a week,4 times for 30 days, the patients' quality of life was measured with the Functional Assessment of Can-cer Treatment-Lung(FACT-L) questionnaire before and after treatment. Serum interferon-γ(INF-γ), interleukin-4(IL-4), IL-2 and IL-5 were examined before and after treatments.RESULTS: The level of Th1 cytokines(INF-γ, IL-2)and the ratio of Th1/Th2 cytokines(INF-γ/IL-4, IL-2/IL-5) increased in both treatment groups, while Th2cytokines(IL-4, IL-5) and FACT-L scores decreased(P<0.01). Furthermore, after treatment Th1 cytokines(INF-γ, IL-2) and the ratio of Th1/Th2 cytokines(INF-γ/IL-4, IL-2/IL-5) were higher in the DCs +GPS group than in the control group(P<0.05). Conversely, FACT-L scores and Th2 cytokines(IL-4, IL-5)were higher in the control group than in the DCs +GPS group(P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The treatment regime of DCs plus GPS had a greater effect on NSCLC patients' immune function as compared with DCs alone. 4ZIKA virus isolated from mosquitoes:a field and laboratory investigation in China,2016显示文摘A field investigation of arboviruses was conducted in Dejiang, Guizhou Province in the summer of 2016. A total of 8,795 mosquitoes, belonging to four species of three genera, and 1,300 midges were collected. The mosquito samples were identified on site according to their morphology, and the pooled samples were ground and centrifuged in the laboratory. The supernatant was incubated with mosquito tissue culture cells(C6/36) and mammalian cells(BHK-21) for virus isolation. The results indicated that 40%(3,540/8,795) were Anopheles sinensis, 30%(2,700/8,795) were Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus, and 29%(2,530/8,795)were Armigeres subbalbeatus. Furthermore, a total of eight virus isolates were obtained, and genome sequencing revealed two Zika viruses(ZIKVs) isolated from Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus and Armigeres subbalbeatus, respectively; three Japanese encephalitis viruses(JEVs) isolated from Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus; two Banna viruses(BAVs) isolated from Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus and Anopheles sinensis, respectively; and one densovirus(DNV) isolated from Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus.The ZIKVs isolated from the Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus and Armigeres subbalbeatus mosquitoes represent the first ZIKV isolates in China's Mainland. 6Paleogene Tectonic Evolution Controls on Sequence Stratigraphic Patterns in the Central Part of Deepwater Area of Qiongdongnan Basin, Northern South China Sea显示文摘In active rift basins, tectonism is extremely important for sequence stratigraphic patterns, affecting both the sequence architecture and internal makeup. Sequence stratigraphic framework of a Paleogene rift succession in Qiongdongnan Basin, northern South China Sea, was built using seismic profiles, complemented by well logs and cores. One first-order and three second-order sequences were identified on the basis of basin-scale unconformities, and seven third-order sequences are defined by unconformities along the basin margins and correlative conformities within the central basin. Through unconformity analysis and backstripping procedure, the Paleogene synrift tectonic evolution of deepwater area of Qiongdongnan Basin was proved to be episodic, which can be divided into rifting stage-I, rifting stage-II and rifting stage-III. Episodic rifting resulted in the formation of various types of structural slope break belts, which controlled different architectures and internal makeup of sequences. 9Improved oxidative tolerance in suspension‐cultured cells of C_4-pepctransgenic rice by H_2O_2 and Ca^(2+)under PEG-6000显示文摘To understand the molecular responses of PC(Overexpressing the maize C4-pepc gene, which encodes phosphoenolpyruvate carboxylase(PEPC)), to drought stress at cell level, we analyzed changes in the levels of signaling molecules(hydrogen peroxide(H2O2), calcium ion(Ca2t), and nitric oxide(NO)) in suspension-cultured PC and wild-type(WT)rice(Oryza sativa L.) cell under drought stress induced by 20%polyethylene glycol 6000(PEG-6000). Results demonstrated that PC improved drought tolerance by enhancing antioxidant defense, retaining higher relative water content, survival percentages, and dry weight of cells. In addition, PEPC activity in PC under PEG treatment was strengthened by addition of H2O2 inhibitor, dimethylthiourea(DMTU) and NO synthesis inhibitor, 2-(4-carboxyphenyl)-4,4,5,5-tetramethylimidazoline-1-oxyl-3-oxide(c PTIO), respectively, while that in PC was weakened by addition of free calcium chelator, ethylene glycol-bis(b-aminoethylether)-N,N,N0,N0-tetraacetic acid(EGTA)t calcium channel outflow inhibitor, ruthenium red(RR) t plasma membrane channel blocker La(NO3)3, but EGTA t RR did Reseanot. Results also showed that NO and Ca2 twas lying downstream of H2O2 in drought-induced signaling. Calcium ion was also involved in the expression of C4-pepc in PC. 10Formation of active oxygen species on single-atom Pt catalyst and promoted catalytic oxidation of toluene显示文摘Catalytic oxidation of toluene over noble metal catalysts is a representative reaction for elimination of volatile organic compounds(VOCs).However,to fully understand the activation of molecular oxygen and the role of active oxygen species generated in this reaction is still a challenging target.Herein,MgO nanosheets and single-atom Pt loaded MgO(Pt SA/MgO)nanosheets were synthesized and used as catalysts in toluene oxidation.The activation process of molecular oxygen and oxidation performance on the two catalysts were contrastively investigated.The Pt SA/MgO exhibited significantly enhanced catalytic activity compared to MgO.The oxygen vacancies can be easily generated on the Pt SA/MgO surface,which facilitate the activation of molecular oxygen and the formation of active oxygen species.Based on the experimental data and theoretical calculations,an active oxygen species promoted oxidation mechanism for toluene was proposed.In the presence of H2O,the molecular oxygen is more favorable to be dissociated to generate•OH on the oxygen vacancies of the Pt SA/MgO surface,which is the dominant active oxygen species.We anticipate that this work may shed light on further investigation of t10.1007/s12274-020-2765-1he oxidation mechanism of toluene and other VOCs over noble metal catalysts.Shunzheng Zhao Yanfeng Wen Xijun Liu Xianyun Pen Fang Lü Fengyu Gao Xizhou Xie Chengcheng Du Honghong Yi Dongjuan Kang Xiaolong Tang 2020Nano Research2020,13,6:12
11The Coix Genome Provides Insights into Panicoideae Evolution and Papery Hull Domestication显示文摘Coix is a grass crop domesticated as early as the Neolithic era.It is still widely cultivated for both highly nutritional food and medicinal use.However,the genetic study and breeding of this crop are hindered by the lack of a sequenced genome.Here,we report de novo sequencing and assembly of the 1619-Mb genome of Coix,and annotation of 75.39%repeats and 39629 protein-coding genes.Comparative genomics analysis showed that Coix is more closely related to sorghum than maize,but intriguingly only Coix and maize had a recent genome duplication event,which was not detected in sorghum.We further constructed a genetic map and mapped several important traits,especially the strength of hull.Selection of papery hull(thin:easy dehulling)from the stony hull(thick:difficult dehulling)in wild progenitors was a key step in Coix domestication.The papery hull makes seed easier to process and germinate.Anatomic and global transcriptome analysis revealed that the papery hull is a result of inhibition of cell division and wall biogenesis.We also successfully demonstrated that seed hull pressure resistance is controlled by two major quantitative trait loci(QTLs),which are associated with hull thickness and color,respectively.The two QTLs were further fine mapped within intervals of 250 kb and 146 kb,respectively.These resources provide a platform for evolutionary studies and will facilitate molecular breeding of this important crop.Chao Guo Yanan Wang Aiguo Yang Jun He Chaowen Xiao Shanhua Lv Fengming Han Yibing Yuan Yuan Yuan Xiaolong Dong Juan Guo YawenYang-Hailan Liu Ningzhi Zuo Yaxi Hu Kangxu Zhao Zhengbo Jiang Xing Wang Tingting Jiang Yaou Sherf Moju Cao Yuan Wang Zhaobo Long Tingzhao Rong Luqi Huang Shufeng Zhou 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,2:11
12Effect of Preparation Temperature on the Aging Properties of Waste Polyethylene Modified Asphalt显示文摘In this study, waste polyethylene(WPE) was used as a modifier for base asphalt. In our previous studies,we have examined a variety of polymer modifiers for asphalt. By contrast, little research has focused on the preparation process, such as preparation time, preparation temperature and shear rate. The effect of preparation temperature on aging properties of WPE-modified asphalt was investigated in this work. The experimental materials were characterized by infrared spectroscopy(IR), thermo-gravimetric analysis(TG), and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The physical properties were determined by conducting asphalt penetration, softening point and ductility tests. The results show that increasing the preparation temperature results in an increased softening point of WPE-modified asphalt while decreased penetration and ductility. In addition, this variation was accentuated by aging the experimental materials. The modification process of WPE is a physical process. During the asphalt modification process, the WPE aged as the preparation temperature increased. 13Sedimentary and OSL dating evidence for the development of the present Hobq desert landscape, northern China显示文摘The sedimentary sequence and landscape of the Hobq desert was observed through twelve profiles along five N-S sections extending through the entire desert.Aeolian sands were found to overlie the alluvial,diluvial,and lacustrine sediments in this desert.Optically stimulated luminescence(OSL)dating results were obtained from post-IR OSL signals of quartz fractions of sand samples at the bottom of sand dunes and hills by using the Double-SAR protocol.The OSL ages reveal that the latest sand accumulation began around 19 ka in the northwestern part and 9 ka in the eastern part of the Hobq Desert.Around 7 ka,the sand accumulation was strengthened and extended southward and northward 2 ka to develop the present desert landscape.Our study suggests that the aeolian sand accumulation around 19,9 and 7 ka resulted from the weakening of the Asian summer monsoon over this region.However,the rapid development of the present Hobq desert landscape since 2 ka was likely triggered by human activities in this desert.FAN YuXin CHEN XiaoLong FAN TianLai JIN Ming LIU JianBao CHEN FaHu 2013Science China Earth Sciences2013,56,12:11

15Artificial intelligence in drug design显示文摘Thanks to the fast improvement of the computing power and the rapid development of the computational chemistry and biology,the computer-aided drug design techniques have been successfully applied in almost every stage of the drug discovery and development pipeline to speed up the process of research and reduce the cost and risk related to preclinical and clinical trials.Owing to the development of machine learning theory and the accumulation of pharmacological data, the artificial intelligence(AI) technology, as a powerful data mining tool, has cut a figure in various fields of the drug design, such as virtual screening,activity scoring, quantitative structure-activity relationship(QSAR) analysis, de novo drug design, and in silico evaluation of absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and toxicity(ADME/T) properties. Although it is still challenging to provide a physical explanation of the AI-based models, it indeed has been acting as a great power to help manipulating the drug discovery through the versatile frameworks. 16Mass production of 2D materials by intermediate-assisted grinding exfoliation显示文摘The scalable and high-efficiency production of 2D materials is a prerequisite to their commercial use.Currently,only graphene and graphene oxide can be produced on a ton scale,and the inability to produce other 2D materials on such a large scale hinders their technological applications.Here we report a grinding exfoliation method that uses micro-particles as force intermediates to resolve applied compressive forces into a multitude of small shear forces,inducing the highly efficient exfoliation of layer materials.The method;referred to as intermediate-assisted grinding exfoliation(iMAGE);can be used for the large-scale production of many 2D materials.As an example;we have exfoliated bulk h-BN into 2D h-BN with large flake sizes;high quality and structural integrity,with a high exfoliation yield of 67%,a high production rate of 0.3 g h^-1 and a low energy consumption of 3.01 x 106 J g^-1.The production rate and energy consumption are one to two orders of magnitude better than previous results.Besides h-BN,this iMAGE technology has been used to exfoliate various layer materials such as graphite,black phosphorus,transition metal dichalcogenides;and metal oxides;provings universality.Molybdenite concentrate,a natural low-cost and abundant mineral;was used as a demo for the large-scale exfoliation production of 2D M0S2 flakes.Our work indicates the huge potential of the iMAGE method to produce large amounts of various 2D materials;which paves the way for their commercial application.Chi Zhang Junyang Tan Yikun Pan Xingke Cai Xiaolong Zou Hui-Ming Cheng Bilu Liu 2020National Science Review2020,7,2:10
17Comparison of survival outcomes between transthoracic and transabdominal surgical approaches in patients with Siewert-Ⅱ/Ⅲesophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma:a single-institution retrospective cohort study显示文摘Objective: To compare the survival outcomes of transabdominal(TA) and transthoracic(TT) surgical approaches in patients with Siewert-Ⅱ/Ⅲ esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma.Methods: This retrospective study was conducted in patients with Siewert-Ⅱ/Ⅲ esophagogastric junction adenocarcinoma who underwent either TT or TA operations in the West China Hospital between January 2006 and December 2009.Results: A total of 308 patients(109 in the TT and 199 in the TA groups) were included in this study with a follow-up rate of 87.3%. The median(P25, P75) number of harvested perigastric lymph nodes was 8(5, 10) in the TT group and 23(16, 34) in the TA group(P<0.001), and the number of positive perigastric lymph nodes was 2(0, 5) in the TT group and 3(1, 8) in the TA group(P<0.004). The 5-year overall survival(OS) rate was 36% in the TT group and 51% in the TA group(P=0.005). Subgroup analysis by Siewert classification showed that 5-year OS rates for patients with Siewert Ⅱ tumors were 38% and 48% in TT and TA groups, respectively(P=0.134), whereas the 5-year OS rate for patients with Siewert Ⅲ tumors was significantly lower in the TT group than that in the TA group(33% vs. 53%; P=0.010). 19Research Progress in Improving the Cycling Stability of High-Voltage LiNi0.5Mn1.5O4 Cathode in Lithium-Ion Battery显示文摘High-voltage lithium-ion batteries(HVLIBs) are considered as promising devices of energy storage for electric vehicle, hybrid electric vehicle, and other high-power equipment. HVLIBs require their own platform voltages to be higher than 4.5 V on charge. Lithium nickel manganese spinel LiNi_(0.5)Mn_(1.5)O_4(LNMO) cathode is the most promising candidate among the 5 V cathode materials for HVLIBs due to its flat plateau at 4.7 V. However, the degradation of cyclic performance is very serious when LNMO cathode operates over 4.2 V. In this review, we summarize some methods for enhancing the cycling stability of LNMO cathodes in lithium-ion batteries, including doping, cathode surface coating,electrolyte modifying, and other methods. 20Diurnal variations of pCO_2 in relation to environ-mental factors in the cascade reservoirs along the Wujiang River, China显示文摘We have investigated the diurnal variations of the pCO2 and related environmental factors in the cascade reservoirs with different trophic levels along Wujiang River. In surface water the pCO2 was 357±11 μatm in Hong-jiadu Reservoir, 338±48 μatm in Dongfeng Reservoir, 682±303 μatm in Wujiangdu Reservoir, and 1677±429 μatm in Liuguang, respectively. The results indicated that these cascade reservoirs had much lower pCO2 values in surface water than river did, and hypereutrophic reservoir showed larger diurnal variations of pCO2 than meso-eutrophic reservoir. In water column, pCO2 tended to increase with the depth. Phytoplankton and the environmental factors such as temperature and pH had different influences on pCO2 diurnal variations due to different trophic levels, and the effect of phytoplankton on pCO2 variation increased with the increase of trophic level in these reservoirs.PENG Xi WANG Baoli LIU Congqiang LIU Xiaolong WANG Fushun 2012Chinese Journal Of Geochemistry2012,31,1:9
