| 1 | Individualized prediction of perineural invasion in colorectal cancer: development and validation of a radiomics prediction model显示文摘Objective: To develop and validate a radiomics prediction model for individualized prediction of perineural invasion(PNI) in colorectal cancer(CRC).Methods: After computed tomography(CT) radiomics features extraction, a radiomics signature was constructed in derivation cohort(346 CRC patients). A prediction model was developed to integrate the radiomics signature and clinical candidate predictors [age, sex, tumor location, and carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA) level]. Apparent prediction performance was assessed. After internal validation, independent temporal validation(separate from the cohort used to build the model) was then conducted in 217 CRC patients. The final model was converted to an easy-to-use nomogram.Results: The developed radiomics nomogram that integrated the radiomics signature and CEA level showed good calibration and discrimination performance [Harrell's concordance index(c-index): 0.817; 95% confidence interval(95% CI): 0.811–0.823]. Application of the nomogram in validation cohort gave a comparable calibration and discrimination(c-index: 0.803; 95% CI: 0.794–0.812).Conclusions: Integrating the radiomics signature and CEA level into a radiomics prediction model enables easy and effective risk assessment of PNI in CRC. | 3 | Chinese expert consensus statement on the diagnosis and treatment of fulminant myocarditis显示文摘Fulminant myocarditis is primarily caused by infection with any number of a variety of viruses. It arises quickly, progresses rapidly, and may lead to severe heart failure or circulatory failure presenting as rapid-onset hypotension and cardiogenic shock,with mortality rates as high as 50%–70%. Most importantly, there are no treatment options, guidelines or an expert consensus statement. Here, we provide the first expert consensus, the Chinese Society of Cardiology Expert Consensus Statement on the Diagnosis and Treatment of Fulminant Myocarditis, based on data from our recent clinical trial(NCT03268642). In this statement, we describe the clinical features and diagnostic criteria of fulminant myocarditis, and importantly, for the first time,we describe a new treatment regimen termed life support-based comprehensive treatment regimen. The core content of this treatment regimen includes(i) mechanical life support(applications of mechanical respirators and circulatory support systems,including intraaortic balloon pump and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation),(ii) immunological modulation by using sufficient doses of glucocorticoid, immunoglobulin and(iii) antiviral reagents using neuraminidase inhibitor. | 4 | Effects of contamination of single and combined cadmium and mercury on the soil microbial community structural diversity and functional diversity显示文摘To assess the effects of single and combined pollution of cadmium (Cd) and mercury (Hg) on soil micro-bial community structural and functional diversities, an incubation experiment was conducted, by employing two soils, namely, the marine sediment silty loam soil and the yellowish-red soil, in which five levels of Cd, Hg and Cd and Hg in combination were added. After being incubated for 56 days, the phospholipid fatty acids (PLFAs) profile and sole carbon source utilization pattern (BIOLOG) of the samples were tested. The results showed that the compo-sition of the microbial communities changed significantly at different levels of metals application. The principal component analyses (PCA) of PLFAs indicated that the structure of the microbial community was also significantly altered with increasing levels of metals, with increasing PLFAs biomarkers for fungi and actinomycetes, and in-creasing ratio of Gram-positive to Gram-negative bacteria. Sole carbon source utilization pattern analysis revealed that single and combined application of Cd and Hg inhibited significantly the functional activity of soil microorgan-isms, the functional diversity indices [Richness (S), Shannon-Wiener indices (H) and Evenness (EH)] were signifi-cantly lower in polluted soils than those in non-polluted soils, which also significantly altered with increasing levels of metals. PCA for the sole carbon source utilization pattern also indicated that the metal contamination could result in a variable soil microbial community. | 6 | Advertisement Call Variability in the Black-spined Toad Bufo melanostictus (Anura: Bufonidae) during the Breeding Season in Lishui, Zhejiang, China显示文摘Advertisement calls play an important role in influencing female mate choice and are regarded as one of the key characters responsible for reproductive isolation and speciation events in frogs and toads. The black-spined toad, Bufo melanostictus, is one of the most common amphibians in Southeast Asia and is frequently observed in human habitations throughout its distributional range. The advertisement calls of the toad have not been well described. Here, we report the advertisement calls of this species from Lishui, Zhejiang, China during its breeding season. The advertisement calls of B. melanostictus are composed of single notes with a single harmonic frequency emitted sporadically. The call parameters recorded in this study were highly variable across recording times and with different body sizes. Dominant frequency was negatively correlated with body size. Comparing the calls of the B. melanostictus population from Lishui with the populations from five other localities(Bangkok, Thailand; Coorg, India; Burma, Myanmar; Bali, Indonesia; Halimun-Salak National Park, Indonesia), we found that call structure was similar among five different populations with no harmonics, while the Halimun-Salak National Park population contained two clear harmonics. Dominant frequency was similar between Bali(1.56 kHz) and Coorg(1.6 kHz) populations, while it was highly variable among other populations. Besides call duration, call interval and pulse/call rate may also be significantly different among the comparing populations. | 7 | Electroacupuncture at Tianshu (ST 25) for diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome using positron emission tomography Changes in visceral sensation center显示文摘Previous studies have demonstrated that electroacupuncture therapy is effective in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome. However, the precise mechanism of this therapy is unknown. The present study served to investigate the effects of electroacupuncture therapy on treatment of patients with diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). We compared brain activation maps based on the changes of cerebral glucose metabolism obtained by 18-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography scanning under three conditions: resting, rectal balloon distension and rectal balloon distension plus electroacupuncture. Under the resting condition, compared with healthy controls, IBS patients displayed an increasing regional cerebral metabolic rate of glucose over a wide range: bilateral superior temporal gyrus, right middle occipital gyrus, superior frontal gyrus and bilateral middle frontal gyrus. However, there was no significant activity in the visceral pain center. Compared with the resting condition, under the rectal balloon distension condition, patients with IBS had a greater regional cerebral metabolic rate of glucose in the prefrontal cortex, left anterior cingulate cortex, postcentral gyrus, precentral gyrus and temporal gyrus. Under the rectal balloon distension plus electroacupuncture condition, stimulation by electroacupuncture at Tianshu (ST 25) manifested a decreased regional cerebral metabolic rate of glucose in the left cingulate gyrus, right insula, right caudate nucleus, fusiform gyrus and hippocampal gyrus. | 8 | Simulation of groundwater table dynamics based on Feflow in the Minqin Basin,China显示文摘As groundwater table declination is an important factor resulting in degradation of eco-environment in the Minqin Basin,China,it is significant to investigate and understand the groundwater table dynamics in this area. The catalytic activity of sulfonated carbon was studied in the oxidation of aldehydes to carboxylic acids using 30 wt% H2O2 as oxidant. | 13 | Arsenic concentration in peripheral blood is correlated with efficacy of a Traditional Chinese Medicine regimen containing realgar for the treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To explore the relationship between the efficacy of realgar for the treatment of myelodysplastic syndromes with multilineage dysplasia(MDS-MLD)and arsenic concentration in the peripheral blood of patients.METHODS:In this prospective study,a total of 50 MDS-MLD patients were treated with traditional Chinese drugs containing realgar for 3 months in Xiyuan Hospital from March 2018 to January 2019.Routine blood examination as well as liver and kidney function were monitored before and after treatment.The concentration of arsenic in the peripheral blood was measured using an atomic fluorescence spectrometer after treatment.The correlation between clinical effect and arsenic concentration was analyzed by Spearman’s method.RESULTS:The treatment response rate was 54%.Two patients(4%)achieved complete remission,50%(25 of 50)showed hematologic improvement,and 23 patients had stable disease(23%).No disease progression was observed.Arsenic concentration in the peripheral blood ranged from 14.60 to 85.96μg/L.Clinical efficacy was positively correlated with arsenic concentration(P<0.05).The incidence of mild adverse reactions was 16%.CONCLUSION:A relatively high concentration of arsenic in the peripheral blood may improve the clinical efficacy of realgar in MDS-MLD patients. | WANG Dexiu XU Yonggang DU Yu WANG Hongzhi LI Liu HU Xiaomei YANG Xiupeng MA Rou ZHOU Qingbing | 2021 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2021,41,4: | 3 |

| 17 | Immobilization of acetylcholinesterase on functionalized SBA-15 mesoporous molecular sieve for detection of organophosphorus and carbamate pesticide显示文摘The immobilization of acetylcholinesterase(AChE) on amino functionalized SBA-15 mesoporous sieves(NH_2-SBA-15) was explored for detection of organophosphorus and carbamate pesticides. Several methods have been studied and the 'adsorption-crosslinking' is found to be the best one. Firstly, AChE and bovine serum albumin(BSA) were adsorbed in turn on the surface of NH_2-SBA-15 by electrostatic adsorption, and then glutaraldehyde was added for cross-linking the amino group of AChE. The NH_2-SBA-15 showed around 95% immobilization efficiency and the specific activity of immobilized AChE(ACh ENH_2-SBA-15) reached 130% relative to free AChE under optimal immobilization conditions. It was found ACh E-NH_2-SBA-15 retained 94.0% and 82.8% of its initial activity after 60 days at 4℃ and 25℃,respectively. It remained 55.0% of its initial activity after 6 times recycling. During the detection of pesticide, the AChE-NH_2-SBA-15 showed wider linear range and much lower limit of detection compared with free AChE. The current method showed good recovery(93.8%-109.3%) and low RSD(<5%) for both standard solution and real vegetable samples of Carbaryl and Trichlorfon. | 18 | Age-related Variation in Snake Venom: Evidence from Two Snakes (Naja atra and Deinagkistrodon acutus) in Southeastern China显示文摘In this study we explored electrophoretic profiles, enzymatic activities and immunoreactivity of neonate and adult venoms from two snakes(Naja atra and Deinagkistrodon acutus) coexisting in southeastern China. Age-related variation in electrophoretic profiles was found in both species and proteolytic and fibrinogenolytic activity was higher in neonate than adult venoms. Neonate D. acutus venom had higher 5'nucleotidase, PLA2, hyaluronidase and gelatinolytic activity, but lower esterolytic activity, than adult venom. Neonate and adult D. acutus venoms showed identical phosphomonoesterase, LAO and fibrinolytic activities. Neonate N. atra venom had higher phosphomonoesterase and LAO activity, but lower 5' nucleotidase, PLA2, hyaluronidase and AchE activities than adult venom. Neonate and adult N. atra venoms showed similar gelatinolytic activity. Further, age-dependent immunoreactivity was found in both species, and cross-reactions between homologous venoms and antiserums were closely related to venom composition. | 20 | Photomechanical meta-molecule array for real-time terahertz imaging显示文摘Real-time terahertz(THz)imaging offers remarkable application possibilities,especially in the security and medical fields.However,most THz detectors work with scanners,and a long image acquisition time is required.Some thermal detectors can achieve realtime imaging by using a focal plane array but have the drawbacks of low sensitivity due to a lack of suitable absorbing materials.In this study,we propose a novel photomechanical meta-molecule array by conveniently assembling THz meta-atom absorbers and bi-material cantilevers together,which can couple THz radiation to a mechanical deflection of the meta-molecules with high efficiency.By optically reading out the mechanical deflections of all of the meta-molecules simultaneously,real-time THz imaging can be achieved.A polyimide sacrificial layer technique was developed to fabricate the device on a glass wafer,which facilitates the transmission of a readout light while the THz wave radiates onto the meta-molecule array directly from the front side.THz images and video of various objects as well as infrared images of the human body were captured successfully with the fabricated metamolecule array.The proposed photomechanical device holds promise in applications in single and broadband THz as well as infrared imaging. | Yongzheng Wen Delin Jia Wei Ma Yun Feng Ming Liu Liquan Dong Yuejin Zhao Xiaomei Yu | 2017 | Microsystems & Nanoengineering2017,3,1: | 2 |
