4Pretreatment with scutellaria baicalensis stem-leaf total flavonoid prevents cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury显示文摘Pretreatment with scutellaria baicalensis stem-leaf total flavonoid has protective effects against ischemia and attenuates myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury.In this study,rats were given scutellaria baicalensis stem-leaf total flavonoid intragastrically at 50,100,and 200 mg/kg per day for7 days before focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury models were established using the suture method.We then determined the protective effects of scutellaria baicalensis stem-leaf tota flavonoid pretreatment on focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.Results showed that neurological deficit scores increased,infarct volumes enlarged,apoptosis increased and Bcl-2 and Bax protein expression were upregulated at 24 hours after reperfusion.Pretreatment with scutellaria baicalensis stem-leaf total flavonoid at any dose lowered the neurological deficit scores reduced the infarct volume,prevented apoptosis in hippocampal cells,attenuated neuronal and blood-brain barrier damage and upregulated Bcl-2 protein expression but inhibited Bax protein expression.Doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg were the most efficacious.Our findings indicate that pretreatment with scutellaria baicalensis stem-leaf total flavonoid at 100 and 200 mg/kg can improve the neurological functions and have preventive and protective roles after focal cerebra ischemia-reperfusion injury.Shumin Zhao Wei Kong Shufeng Zhang Meng Chen Xiaoying Zheng Xiangyu Kong 2013Neural Regeneration Research2013,8,34:11

6The Pengguan tectonic dome of Longmen Mountains, Sichuan Province:Mesozoic denudation of a Neoproterozoic magmatic arc-basin system显示文摘Neoproterozoic igneous and metamorphic complexes occur as tectonic domes in the Longmen Mountains of the western margin of the Yangtze Block, and are important in reconstructing the Rodinian supercontinent and constraining the timing and mechanism of tectonic denudational processes. The Pengguan dome consists of granitic intrusions and metamorphic rocks of the Huangshuihe Group and is tectonically overlain by ductilly deformed Sinian to Paleozoic strata. The plutonic intrusions consist of granites with abundant amphibolite enclaves. New LA-ICP-MS zircon U-Pb dating yielded an emplacement age of 809±3 Ma and a protolith age of 844±6 Ma for the granite. The granitic rocks have geochemical signatures typical of A-type granites, indicating their formation under an extensional environment, by melting of newly formed tonalite-trondhjemite-granodiorite (TTG) rocks. A detachment fault, characterized by variable ductile shear deformation of S-C fabric and ESE-ward kinematics, separates the Pengguan dome from the Sinian-Paleozoic cover. 40Ar/39Ar dating of muscovite from the mylonite in the detachment fault of the dome demonstrates that ductile deformation occurred at ~160 Ma. 8Pretreatment with scutellaria baicalensis stem-leaf total flavonoid protects against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury in hippocampal neurons显示文摘Previous experimental studies have shown that cerebral infarction can be effectively reduced following treatment with scutellaria baicalensis stem-leaf total flavonoid(SSTF). However, the mechanism of action of SSTF as a preventive drug to treat cerebral infarction remains unclear. In this study, Sprague-Dawley rats were pretreated with 50, 100, 200 mg/kg SSTF via intragastric administration for 1 week prior to the establishment of focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. The results showed that pretreatment with SSTF effectively improved neurological function, reduced brain water content and the permeability of blood vessels, ameliorated ischemia-induced morphology changes in hippocampal microvessels, down-regulated Fas and Fas L protein expression, elevated the activity of superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase, and decreased malondialdehyde content. In contrast to low-dose SSTF pretreatment, the above changes were most obvious after pretreatment with moderate- and high-doses of SSTF. Experimental findings indicate that SSTF pretreatment can exert protective effects on the brain against cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. 12Evodiamine induces extrinsic and intrinsic apoptosis of ovarian cancer cells via the mitogen-activated protein kinase/phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase/protein kinase B signaling pathways显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To explore the effects of evodiamine on ovarian cancer cells and the mechanisms underlying such effects.METHODS: Human ovarian cancer cells HO-8910 PM were treated with evodiamine at 0, 1.25,2.5, and 5 μM for 1-4 d. 3-(4,5-Dimethiylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) assay was used to detect the growth inhibition rate of evodiamine-treated HO-8910 PM cells. The cell cycle was observed via propidium iodide(PI) staining. Apoptosis induction was assessed via Annexin V-fluorescein isothiocyanate/propidium iodide(Annexin V-FITC/PI) double staining assay. To verify the mechanism of apoptosis, caspase-dependent apoptotic pathway-related protein was detected by Western blot analysis. The expression levels of mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK)and/or phosphatidylinositol-3-kinase(PI3K)/pro-tein kinase B(Akt) pathway-related proteins were also investigated.RESULTS: Evodiamine significantly inhibited the proliferation of HO-8910 PM cells in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Evodiamine induced G2/M arrest with an increase of cyclin B1 level, and promoted cell apoptosis with a decrease of B cell lymphoma/lewkmia-2(Bcl-2) and an increase of Bcl-2-associated X protein(Bax) level. In addition,evodiamine treatment led to the activation of caspase-8, caspase-9, and caspase-3 and the cleavage of poly(ADP-ribose)-polymerase(PARP). Evodiamine targeted the MAPK and/or PI3K/Akt pathways by reducing the expression and activity of PI3 K, Akt, and extracellular signal-regulated kinase mitogen-activated protein kinase(ERK1/2 MAPK)and the activity of p38 MAPK.CONCLUSION: Evodiamine can inhibit the growth of ovarian cancer cells by G2/M arrest and intrinsic and extrinsic apoptosis. 14Altered small-world,functional brain networks in patients with lower back pain显示文摘In this study, we aimed to investigate the functional network changes that occur in patients with lower back pain(LBP). We also investigated the link between LBP and the small-world properties of functional networks within the brain. Functional MRI(fMRI) was performed on 20 individuals with LBP and 17 age and gender-matched normal controls during the resting state. The severity of the pain in the individuals with LBP ranged from 5 to 8 on a 0–10 scale, with 0 indicating no pain. Network-based statistics were performed to investigate the differences between the brain networks of individuals with LBP and those of normal controls. Several small-world parameters of brain networks were calculated, including the clustering coefficient, characteristic path length, local efficiency, and global efficiency. These criteria reflect the overall network efficiency. The brain networks in the individuals with LBP due to herniation of a lumbar disc demonstrated a significantly longer characteristic path length as well as a lower clustering coefficient, global efficiency, and local efficiency compared to those in control subjects. We found that LBP patients tended to have unstable and inefficient brain networks when compared with healthy controls. In addition, LBP individuals showed significantly decreased functional connectivity in the anterior cingulate cortex, middle cingulate cortex, post cingulate cortex, inferior frontal gyrus, middle temporal gyrus, occipital gyrus, postcentral gyrus, precentral gyrus, supplementary motor area, thalamus, fusiform, caudate, and cerebellum. 16Effect of externally applied Jidesheng anti-venom on skin and soft-tissue necrosis after Chinese cobra bite: a retrospective study显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of Jidesheng anti-venom used externally for skin and soft-tissue necrosis from Chinese cobra bite.METHODS: A retrospective review was performed according to the clinical data recorded from January 2002 to December 2012. A total of 126 patients(116 females and 10 males) with skin and soft-tissue necrosis due to Chinese cobra bite were divided into two groups. The control group was treated externally with 40% glyceride magnesium sulfate(n=52), and the treatment group was given Jidesheng anti-venom externally(n=74). The data collected included maximum local necrotic area of skin and soft tissues, de-tumescence time, healing time,and skin-grafting rate.RESULTS: There were no significant differences in gender, age, and disease condition between the control and treatment groups(P>0.05). No statistically significant difference was found in de-tumescence time between the two groups(P>0.05). The maximum local necrotic area of skin and soft tissues was(19.9 ± 7.3) cm2in the treatment group,while it was(23.3±6.4) cm2in the control group.The healing time of the treatment group was shorter than that of the control group [(32.1 ± 3.7) vs(34.4±4.5) days)] The skin-grafting rate in the treatment group was lower than that of the control group(10.81% vs 25.00%). 17Well-construction of Zn_(2)SnO_(4)/SnO_(2)@ZIF-8 core-shell hetero-structure with efficient photocatalytic activity towards tetracycline under restricted space显示文摘Nowadays,efficient removal of antibiotic(e.g.tetracycline,TC) from water bodies has been of great global concern.Hereby,a novel Zn_(2)SnO_(4)/SnO_(2)@ZIF-8 photo-catalyst was first synthesized by a facile selfassembly in-situ growth method.Zn_(2)SnO_(4)/SnO_(2)@ZIF-8 exhibits a remarkable photocatalytic activity towards TC under visible-light driven with a rapid rate constant of 1.5 × 10^(-2)min^(-1), and a removal efficiency of 81.2%,which is superior to some catalysts in the literature.Importantly,the photocatalytic activity of Zn_(2)SnO_(4)/SnO_(2)@ZIF-8 could still remain ~77% after the fifth cycle,indicating its good stability and reusability.The remarkable performances of adsorption and photocatalytic were attributed to associative effects of catalytic activity of Zn_(2)SnO_(4)/SnO_(2)and the unique porous nanostructure and stability of ZIF-8.This work could aid the future design and preparation of novel MOFs composite catalysts for efficient elimination of antibiotics from water.Jiafei Wu Yuning Jin Danping Wu Xiaoying Yan Na Ma Wei Dai 2022Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2022,,12:3
18Holocene Abrupt Climate Shifts and Mid-Holocene Drought Intervals Recorded in Barkol Lake of Northern Xinjiang of China显示文摘Study results in this paper have indicated that the Holocene climate in Xinjiang,Northwestern China has been alternating between wet and dry conditions,and was punctuated with a series of abrupt climate shifts.A sediment core taken from Barkol Lake in the northern Xinjiang of Northwest China was analyzed at 1cm interval for grain-size distribution.Abrupt climate shifts revealed by the grain-size proxy occurred at ca 1.4,3.0,4.3,5.6,8.0 cal kyr B.P.,which were well correlated to both the abrupt shifts recorded in the North Atlantic Ocean(NAO)and the Holocene sea surface temperature(SST)cooling events in the Arabian Ocean.The correlation indicated that the climatic changes in the extreme arid Northwest China were associated with the NAO,probably via the North Atlantic Oscillation-affected westerly winds.The strength and position of westerly winds probably modulated the Siberian-Mongolian high-pressure system(winter monsoon),and played an important role in climate change of Northwest China.Moreover,an evident drought interval during the middle Holocene was also revealed by grain-size proxy.XUE Jibin ZHONG Wei ZHAO Yinjuan PENG Xiaoying 2008Chinese Geographical Science2008,18,1:3
19Extension of the low diffusion particle method for near-continuum two-phase flow simulations显示文摘The low diffusion (LD) particle method, proposed by Burt and Boyd, is modified for the near-continuum two-phase flow simulations. The LD method has the advantages of easily coupling with the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method for multi-scale flow simulations and dramatically reducing the numerical diffusion error and statistical scatter of the equilibrium particle methods. Liquidor solid-phase particles are introduced in the LD method. Their velocity and temperature updating are respectively, calculated from the motion equation and the temperature equation according to the local gas properties. Coupling effects from condensed phase to gas phase are modeled as momentum and energy sources, which are respectively, equal to the negative values of the total momentum and energy increase in liquid or solid phase. The modified method is compared with theoretical results for unsteady flows, and good agreements are obtained to indicate the reliability of the one-way gas-to-particle coupling models. 20GF-2 Satellite 1m/4m Camera Design and In-Orbit Commissioning显示文摘GF-2(Gaofen-2) is the second high resolution imaging satellite of China high resolution earth observation system(CHEOS) and it is the first civilian high resolution imager with Ground sample distance(GSD) under1 m in China. The two 1 m/4 m cameras represent a breakthrough in comparison with the previous GF-1 camera. Recent advances in small relative aperture optics system design, vibration reduction, and high accuracy thermal control make it possible for this camera work perfect with high resolution, lihgtweight and high image quality performance. The in-orbit commissioning demonstrates that the performance of the cameras meets all the design requirements.
