| 1 | NF-κB and STAT3 signaling pathways collaboratively link infl ammation to cancer显示文摘Although links between cancer and inflammation were fi rstly proposed in the nineteenth century,the molecular mechanism has not yet been clearly understood.Epidemiological studies have identified chronic infections and infl ammation as major risk factors for various types of cancer.NF-κB transcription factors and the signaling pathways are central coordinators in innate and adaptive immune responses.STAT3 regulates the expression of a variety of genes in response to cellular stimuli,and thus plays a key role in cell growth and apoptosis.Recently,roles of NF-κB and STAT3 in colon,gastric and liver cancers have been extensively investigated.The activation and interaction between STAT3 and NF-κB play vital roles in control of the communication between cancer cells and infl ammatory cells.NF-κB and STAT3 are two major factors controlling the ability of pre-neoplastic and malignant cells to resist apoptosis-based tumor-surveillance and regulating tumor angiogenesis and invasiveness.Understanding the molecular mechanisms of NF-κB and STAT3 cooperation in cancer will offer opportunities for the design of new chemo-preventive and chemotherapeutic approaches. | Yihui Fan Renfang Mao Jianhua Yang | 2013 | Protein & Cell2013,4,3: | 52 |

| 3 | Effect of Dark Septate Endophytic Fungus Gaeumannomyces cylindrosporus on Plant Growth, Photosynthesis and Pb Tolerance of Maize (Zea mays L.)显示文摘Dark septate endophytic(DSE) fungi are ubiquitous and cosmopolitan, and occur widely in association with plants in heavy metal stress environment. However, little is known about the effect of inoculation with DSE fungi on the host plant under heavy metal stress.In this study, Gaeumannomyces cylindrosporus, which was isolated from Pb-Zn mine tailings in China and had been proven to have high Pb tolerance, was inoculated onto the roots of maize(Zea mays L.) seedlings to study the effect of DSE on plant growth, photosynthesis,and the translocation and accumulation of Pb in plant under stress of different Pb concentrations. The growth indicators(height, basal diameter, root length, and biomass) of maize were detected. Chlorophyll content, photosynthetic characteristics(net photosynthetic rate, transpiration rate, stomatal conductance, and intercellular CO_2 concentration), and chlorophyll fluorescence parameters in leaves of the inoculated and non-inoculated maize were also determined. Inoculation with G. cylindrosporus significantly increased height,basal diameter, root length, and biomass of maize seedlings under Pb stress. Colonization of G. cylindrosporus improved the efficiency of photosynthesis and altered the translocation and accumulation of Pb in the plants. Although inoculation with G. cylindrosporus increased Pb accumulation in host plants in comparison to non-inoculated plants, the translocation factor of Pb in plant body was significantly decreased. The results indicated that Pb was accumulated mainly in the root system of maize and the phytotoxicity of Pb to the aerial part of the plant was alleviated. | 4 | Sinomenine ester derivative inhibits glioblastoma by inducing mitochondria-dependent apoptosis and autophagy by PI3K/AKT/mTOR and AMPK/mTOR pathway显示文摘Glioblastoma multiforme(GBM)in the central nervous system is the most lethal advanced glioma and currently there is no effective treatment for it.Studies of sinomenine,an alkaloid from the Chinese medicinal plant,Sinomenium acutum,showed that it had inhibitory effects on several kinds of cancer.Here,we synthesized a sinomenine derivative,sino-wcj-33(SW33),tested it for antitumor activity on GBM and explored the underlying mechanism.SW33 significantly inhibited proliferation and colony formation of GBM and reduced migration and invasion of U87 and U251 cells.It also arrested the cell cycle at G2/M phase and induced mitochondria-dependent apoptosis.Differential gene enrichment analysis and pathway validation showed that SW33 exerted anti-GBM effects by regulating PI3 K/AKT and AMPK signaling pathways and significantly suppressed tumorigenicity with no obvious adverse effects on the body.SW33 also induced autophagy through the PI3 K/AKT/mTOR and AMPK/mTOR pathways.Thus,SW33 appears to be a promising drug for treating GBM effectively and safely. | Xiangjin Zheng Wan Li Huanli Xu Jinyi Liu Liwen Ren Yihui Yang Sha Li Jinhua Wang Tengfei Ji Guanhua Du | 2021 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,11: | 15 |

| 6 | Nanocrystals of halide perovskite:Synthesis,properties,and applications显示文摘Recently, halide perovskite materials have become an exciting topic of research mainly due to their outstanding photovoltaic performance with the highest efficiency up to 22.1% at present. The nanocrystals(NCs) of these perovskites show quantum size effect, tunable bandgap, and excellent photoluminescence quantum yield(PLQY) in specific cases. Perovskite NCs have hence displayed great potentials in a broad range of applications, such as solar cells, light-emitting devices(LEDs), photodetectors, and lasers. In this review, we summarized the recent progress on the synthesis, optoelectronic properties and applications of the nanostructures of these halide perovskite materials, including hybrid organic–inorganic perovskites,pure inorganic perovskite, and perovskite-derived NCs. | 7 | Multivariable direct adaptive decoupling controller using multiple models and a case study显示文摘In this paper,a multivariable direct adaptive controller using multiple models without minimum phase assumption is presented to improve the transient response when the parameters of the system jump abruptly. The controller is composed of multiple fixed controller models,a free-running adaptive controller model and a re-initialized adaptive controller model. The fixed controller models are derived from the corresponding fixed system models directly. The adaptive controller models adopt the direct adaptive algorithm to reduce the design calculation. At every instant,the optimal controller is chosen out according to the switching index. The interaction of the system is viewed as the measured disturbance which is eliminated by the choice of the weighing polynomial matrix. The global convergence is obtained. Finally,several simulation examples in a wind tunnel experiment are given to show both effectiveness and practicality of the proposed method. | 10 | Tumorigenic bacteria in colorectal cancer:mechanisms and treatments显示文摘Colorectal cancer(CRC)is the third most common and the second most fatal cancer.In recent years,more attention has been directed toward the role of gut microbiota in the initiation and development of CRC.Some bacterial species,such as Fusobacterium nucleatum,Escherichia coli,Bacteroides fragilis,Enterococcus faecalis,and Salmonella sp.have been associated with CRC,based upon sequencing studies in CRC patients and functional studies in cell culture and animal models.These bacteria can cause host DNA damage by genotoxic substances,including colibactin secreted by pks+Escherichia coli,B.fragilis toxin(BFT)produced by Bacteroides fragilis,and typhoid toxin(TT)from Salmonella.These bacteria can also indirectly promote CRC by influencing host-signaling pathways,such as E-cadherin/β-catenin,TLR4/MYD88/NF-κB,and SMO/RAS/p38 MAPK.Moreover,some of these bacteria can contribute to CRC progression by helping tumor cells to evade the immune response by suppressing immune cell function,creating a proinflammatory environment,or influencing the autophagy process.Treatments with the classical antibacterial drugs,metronidazole or erythromycin,the antibacterial active ingredients,M13@Ag(electrostatically assembled from inorganic silver nanoparticles and the protein capsid of bacteriophage M13),berberine,and zerumbone,were found to inhibit tumorigenic bacteria to different degrees.In this review,we described progress in elucidating the tumorigenic mechanisms of several CRC-associated bacteria,as well as progress in developing effective antibacterial therapies.Specific bacteria have been shown to be active in the oncogenesis and progression of CRC,and some antibacterial compounds have shown therapeutic potential in bacteria-induced CRC.These bacteria may be useful as biomarkers or therapeutic targets for CRC. | Sha Li Jinyi Liu Xiangjin Zheng Liwen Ren Yihui Yang Wan Li Weiqi Fu Jinhua Wang Guanhua Du | 2022 | Cancer Biology & Medicine2022,19,2: | 3 |
| 11 | The effect of monosialylganglioside mix modifying the PEGylated liposomal epirubicin on the accelerated blood clearance phenomenon显示文摘PEGylated liposomes are potential candidates to improve the pharmacokinetic characteristics of encapsulated drugs, to extend their circulation half-life and facilitate their passive accumulation at tumour sites. However, PEG-modified liposomes can induce accelerated blood clearance(ABC) upon repeated administration, and the extent of ABC phenomenon on the cytotoxic drugs-containing PEGylated liposomes is related to the dose of the cytotoxic drugs.In this study, EPI served as a model cytotoxic drug, a hydrophilic surfactant molecule,monosialylganglioside(GM1) was chosen and modified on the liposomes together with PEG.It was shown that upon mixed modification, when GM1 contents reached 10% or 15% mol,the ABC phenomenon of the PEGylated liposomal EPI significantly reduced. We also found that GM1 played an important role in abrogating the ABC phenomenon in both the induction phase and the effectuation phase. The results suggested that GM1 incorporation unfortunately did not avoid occurrence of ABC phenomenon completely, but GM1 modification on PEGylated liposomes may provide a significant improvement in clinical practice of PEGylated liposomes. | 13 | Hepatic encephalopathy complicated with hyponatremia and acid-base disturbance and its prognosis显示文摘Objective:To improve the diagnosis and therapeutic effect of occurrence and development of hyponatremia and disorder of acid-base balance among patients with hepatic encephalopathy(HE) by elucidating the regularity and mechanism,as well as its influence on prognosis.Methods:327 HE patients admitted to our hospital from January 1990 to June 2010 were enrolled.Meanwhile 316 patients hospitalized in the medical department of the same hospital were chosen as the control group.Patients in both groups were given the same methods to measure arterial blood gas parameters(pH value,PaCO2,[HCO3-],TCO2,BE and SaO2),blood biochemistry([Na+],[K+],[Cl-]),liver function,kidney function and blood glucose,serum sodium,and thereupon tocalculate the anion gap(AG) and the potential [HCO3-],and acid-base balance disorder.Results:Among the 327 HE patients,hyponatremia was found in 188 cases(57.4%),of whom 132 patients died(70.2%).While among the 316 patients in control group,68 presented with hyponatremia(21.5%),and 19 died(27.9%).The incidence and mortality were significantly different between the two groups(P<0.001).All the 327 patients presented with different degrees of acid-base balance disorder and 178 died(54.4%),in whom 164(50.2%) belonged to simple acid-base balance disorder and 74(45.1%) died,136(41.6%) were dual acid-base balance disorder and 80(58.8%) died,27(8.2%) were triple acid-base disturbance and 24(88.9%) died.Whereas in the control group only 83 patients(26.2%) were recognized as simple and dual acid-base balance disorder,and 18(21.7%) died.There was higher incidence of acid-base balance disorder and mortality rate in HE group than control one(P<0.001).Conclusion:Hyponatremia is valuable to judge HE patients' prognosis.The key parameters in the judgment and evaluation on acid-base balance disorder among HE patients are the change of pH values and serum electrolyte values.When pH value ≤ 7.30 or > 7.55,it generally suggests a poor prognosis. | Ren Chengshan Wang Lei Zhao Xiaoyan Yang Shiming Zhang Yanqi Wang Xiwen Bo Jianying Zhang Pengbin Guo Hong Ling Xianlong Li Yihui Da Siping Xie Xia Ren Wei Li Chunhua Qian Guisheng | 2012 | Journal of Medical Colleges of PLA(China)2012,27,3: | 3 |
| 14 | An association between the location of white matter changes and the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia in Alzheimer's disease patients显示文摘Objective:The frontal lobe may be involved in circuits associated with depression,apathy,aggression,and other psychiatric symptoms.Although white matter changes(WMC)are related to the severity of behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia(BPSD)in patients with Alzheimer’s disease(AD),it is unclear which part of the WMC may play the most important role in BPSD.This study was designed to investigate the relationship between the location of WMC and the severity of BPSD in AD patients.Methods:Among patients diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease between 2009 and2014,387 patients were retrospectively reviewed after those with pre‐existing organic brain syndrome,psychiatric diseases,or toxic‐metabolic encephalopathy were excluded.Patients’demographic and laboratory data,WMC measured with brain computed tomography and scored using the age‐related white matter changes(ARWMC)scale,and neuropsychological tests,including the cognitive abilities screening instrument(CASI),the Mini‐Mental State Examination(MMSE),the clinical dementia rating scale with sum‐box(CDR‐SB),and the neuropsychiatric inventory(NPI)were analyzed.Results:There was no significant difference in the NPI between patients with and without a history of stroke,hypertension,and diabetes.No significant difference in the NPI was identified between different sexes or different Apolipoprotein E(APOE)alleles.The NPI score was significantly correlated with the duration of education(r=–0.4515,P=0.0172),CASI(r=–0.2915,P<0.0001),MMSE(r=–0.8476,P<0.0001),and CDR‐SB(r=2.2839,P<0.0001).WMC in the right frontal lobe showed a significant difference in NPI in comparison to those without WMC(P=0.0255).After adjusting for age,duration of education,and CASI,WMC in the right frontal lobe remained significantly associated with the NPI score(β=3.8934,P=0.042).Conclusions:WMC involving the right frontal lobe may play an important role in the BPSD in AD patients during their dementia diagnosis.Further studies are necessary to confirm whether controlling the risk factors of WMC can slow the progression of BPSD. | Tzuchou Lin Yihui Lin Linli Kao Yihui Kao Yuanhan Yang Pingsong Chou Mengni Wu | 2016 | Translational Neuroscience and Clinics2016,2,1: | 3 |
| 15 | Effects of extrusion and enzymatic debranching on the structural characteristics and digestibility of corn and potato starches显示文摘Amylose content has a profound impact on the contents of slowly digestible starch and resistant starch.Enzymatic debranching is a safe method to increase the amylose content,however,the lower substrate concentration and high viscosity of fully gelatinized starch limit the efficiency and yield of this method.This paper aims to explore the effects of extrusion and enzymatic debranching on increasing the amylose content thereby increasing slowly digestible starch and resistant starch contents.Different starch concentrations (10%,15%,and 20%) of extruded corn starch (ECS) and extruded potato starch (EPS) were used to debranch.Both debranched ECS and debranched EPS showed high amylose content of approximately 90%,indicating that all samples with different starch concentrations achieved high-efficiency enzymatic debranching.The high-performance liquid chromatograph results indicated that the samples were mainly short amylose.The samples exhibit a typical B-type crystalline structure and the relative crystallinity of them exceeds 37%.The short amylose exhibited rapid rearrangement ability,with the gelatinization temperature range of rescanning determined as 80–125℃,this will facilitate the formation of slowly digestible starch and resistant starch.The slowly digestible starch and resistant starch contents of the samples (debranched ECS and debranched EPS) were between 23% and 30% and between 31% and 37%,respectively.These results indicate that the extrusion and enzymatic debranching of a high substrate concentration can efficiently increase the amylose content,thereby significantly reducing the digestibility of starch,and has broad prospects of the actual production of slowly digestible starch and resistant starch. | Qing Liu Yihui Wang Yueyue Yang Shichao Bian Xing Zhou Kunfu Zhu Lulian Xu Zhengyu Jin Aiquan Jiao | 2022 | Food Bioscience2022,47,3: | 2 |
| 16 | Individual aortic baroreceptors are sensitive to different ranges of blood pressures显示文摘Many receptors,including thermal receptors and mechanical receptors,are only activated by stimuli within a clearly defined range of intensities.Differences in the receptive ranges enable individual receptors and their sensory centers to precisely detect the intensity of the stimulus and changes in intensity.Baroreceptors are the sensory terminals of the baroreflex.It is well understood that an increasing number of baroreceptors are recruited to produce afferent action potentials as the blood pressure increases,indicating that individual baroreceptors have different pressure thresholds.The present study revealed that individual baroreceptors could stop their afferent signals when the blood pressure exceeds a certain level,indicating that individual baroreceptors are sensitive to a specific range of blood pressure.The receptive ranges of individual baroreceptors differ in terms of the total range,the lower threshold,and the upper threshold.Of 85 baroreceptors examined in this study,the upper thresholds for about half were within the physiological blood pressure range.These results indicate that supraphysiological blood pressure is unlikely to be encoded by the recruitment of more baroreceptors.Instead,supraphysiological blood pressure levels might be signaled by an increase in the frequency of action potentials or by other mechanisms.In conclusion,our results indicate that rabbit baroreceptors are activated by blood pressure levels within specific receptive ranges.These findings should encourage further studies to examine the role of population coding of blood pressure by baroreceptors in the baroreflex. | CHEN MengJiao YANG MingHao HAN WenJuan AN ShuCheng LIU YiHui LIU ZhiQiang REN Wei | 2014 | Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,5: | 2 |
| 17 | Sphingosine kinase 1 promotes growth of glioblastoma by increasing inflammation mediated by the NF-κB/IL-6/STAT3 and JNK/PTX3 pathways显示文摘Glioblastoma(GBM)is the most challenging malignant tumor of the central nervous system because of its high morbidity,mortality,and recurrence rate.Currently,mechanisms of GBM are still unclear and there is no effective drug for GBM in the clinic.Therefore,it is urgent to identify new drug targets and corresponding drugs for GBM.In this study,in silico analyses and experimental data show that sphingosine kinase 1(SPHK1)is up-regulated in GBM patients,and is strongly correlated with poor prognosis and reduced overall survival.Overexpression of SPHK1 promoted the proliferation,invasion,metastasis,and clonogenicity of GBM cells,while silencing SPHK1 had the opposite effect.SPHK1 promoted inflammation through the NF-κB/IL-6/STAT3 signaling pathway and led to the phosphorylation of JNK,activating the JNK-JUN and JNK-ATF3 pathways and promoting inflammation and proliferation of GBM cells by transcriptional activation of PTX3.SPHK1 interacted with PTX3 and formed a positive feedback loop to reciprocally increase expression,promote inflammation and GBM growth.Inhibition of SPHK1 by the inhibitor,PF543,also decreased tumorigenesis in the U87-MG and U251-MG SPHK1 orthotopic mouse models.In summary,we have characterized the role and molecular mechanisms by which SPHK1 promotes GBM,which may provide opportunities for SPHK1-targeted therapy. | Wan Li Hongqing Cai Liwen Ren Yihui Yang Hong Yang Jinyi Liu Sha Li Yizhi Zhang Xiangjin Zheng Wei Tan Guanhua Du Jinhua Wang | 2022 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2022,12,12: | 2 |
