Antioxidant and Anti-inflammatory Capacity of Ferulic Acid Released from Wheat Bran by Solid-state Fermentation of Aspergillus niger显示文摘Objective A strain of Aspergillus niger(A. niger), capable of releasing bound phenolic acids from wheat bran, was isolated. This strain was identified by gene sequence identification. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory capacity of ferulic acid released from wheat bran by this A. niger strain(FA-WB) were evaluated. Methods Molecular identification techniques based on PCR analysis of specific genomic sequences were conducted; antioxidant ability was examined using oxygen radical absorbance capacity(ORAC), cellular antioxidant activity(CAA) assays, and erythrocyte hemolysis assays. RAW264.7 cells were used as a model to detect anti-inflammatory activity. Results The filamentous fungal isolate was identified to be A. niger. ORAC and CAA assay showed that FA-WB had better antioxidant activity than that of the ferulic acid standard. The erythrocyte hemolysis assay results suggested that FA-WB could attenuate AAPH-induced oxidative stress through inhibition of reactive oxy gen species(ROS) generation. FA-WB could significantly restore the AAPH-induced increase in intracellular antioxidant enzyme activities to normal levels as well as inhibit the intracellular malondialdehyde formation. TNF-?, IL-6, and NO levels indicated that FA-WB can inhibit the inflammation induced by lipopolysaccharide(LPS). Conclusion Ferulic acid released from wheat bran by a new strain of A. niger had good anti-inflammatory activity and better antioxidant ability than standard ferulic acid. | YIN Zhi Na WU Wen Jia SUN Chong Zhen LIU Hui Fan CHEN Wen Bo ZHAN Qi Ping LEI Zhuo Gui XIN Xuan MA Juan Juan YAO Kun MIN Tian ZHANG Meng Meng WU Hui | 2019 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2019,32,1: | 14
Multiaxial electrospun generation of hollow graphene aerogel spheres for broadb and high-performance microwave absorption显示文摘Although graphene aerogels(GA)have been attracted great attention, the easy-operation and large-scale production of GA are still challenges.Further, most GA have a monolith-like appearance, limiting their application-specific needs.Herein,we highlight graphene aerogel spheres with controllable hollow structures(HGAS)that are delicately designed and manufactured via coaxial electrospinning coupled with freeze-drying and calcination. The HGAS exhibit a spherical configuration at the macroscale, while the construction elements of graphene on the microscale showing an interconnected radial microchannel structure.Further ball-in-ball graphene aerogel spheres(BGAS)are obtained by reference to the triaxial electrospinning technology. The as-prepared spheres possess the controllable integrated conductive networks, leading to the effective dielectric loss and impedance matching thus bringing on high-performance microwave absorption. The as-obtained HGAS shows a minimum reflection loss of-52.7 dB and a broad effective absorption bandwidth(f)of 7.0 GHz with thickness of 2.3 mm.Further, the fe reaches 9.3 GHz for BGAS with thickness of 3.4 mm.Aforementioned superior microwave absorption of HGAS and BGAS confirms combination of multiaxial electrospinning and freeze-drying on the multiscale is an effective strategy for scalable fabrication of advanced microwave.absorbing functional graphene aerogel spheres. | Tian Li Dandan Zhi Yao Chen Bing Li Zuowan Zhou Fanbin Meng | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,2: | 13
Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. Therefore the observation of Insight-HXMT constitutes an important chapter in the full context of multi-wavelength and multi-messenger observation of this historical GW event. | TiPei Li ShaoLin Xiong ShuangNan Zhang FangJun Lu LiMing Song XueLei Cao Zhi Chang Gang Chen Li Chen TianXiang Chen Yong Chen YiBao Chen YuPeng Chen Wei Cui WeiWei Cui JingKang Deng YongWei Dong YuanYuan Du MinXue Fu GuanHua Gao He Gao Min Gao MingYu Ge YuDong Gu Ju Guan ChengCheng Guo DaWei Han Wei Hu Yue Huang Jia Huo ShuMei Jia LuHua Jiang WeiChun Jiang Jing Jin YongJie Jin Bing Li ChengKui Li Gang Li MaoShun Li Wei Li Xian Li XiaoBo Li XuFang Li YanGuo Li ZiJian Li ZhengWei Li XiaoHua Liang JinYuan Liao CongZhan Liu GuoQing Liu HongWei Liu ShaoZhen Liu XiaoJing Liu Yuan Liu YiNong Liu Bo Lu XueFeng Lu Tao Luo Xiang Ma Bin Meng Yi Nang JianYin Nie Ge OU JinLu Qu Na Sai Liang Sun Yin Tan Lian Tao WenHui Tao YouLi Tuo GuoFeng Wang HuanYu Wang Juan Wang WenShuai Wang YuSa Wang XiangYang Wen BoBing WU Mei Wu GuangCheng Xiao He Xu YuPeng Xu LinLi Yan JiaWei Yang Sheng Yang YanJi Yang AiMei Zhang ChunLei Zhang ChengMo Zhang Fan Zhang HongMei Zhang Juan Zhang Qiang Zhang Shu Zhang Tong Zhang Wei Zhang WanChang Zhang WenZhao Zhang Yi Zhang Yue Zhang YiFei Zhang YongJie Zhang Zhao Zhang ZiLiang Zhang HaiSheng Zhao JianLing Zhao XiaoFan Zhao ShiJie Zheng Yue Zhu YuXuan Zhu ChangLin Zou | 2018 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2018,61,3: | 12

Alleviation by abscisic acid of Al toxicity in rice bean is not associated with citrate efflux but depends on ABI5-mediated signal transduction pathways显示文摘Under conditions of aluminum(Al) toxicity, which severely inhibits root growth in acidic soils, plants rapidly alter their gene expression to optimize physiological fitness for survival. Abscisic acid(ABA) has been suggested as a mediator between Al stress and gene expression, but the underlying mechanisms remain largely unknown. Here,we investigated ABA-mediated Al-stress responses, using integrated physiological and molecular biology approaches. We demonstrate that Al stress caused ABA accumulation in the root apex of rice bean(Vigna umbellata [Thunb.] Ohwi &Ohashi), which positively regulated Al tolerance. However, this was not associated with known Al-tolerance mechanisms. Transcriptomic analysis revealed that nearly one-third of the responsive genes were shared between the Al-stress and ABA treatments. We further identified a transcription factor, ABI5, as being positively involved in Al tolerance. Arabidopsis abi5 mutants displayed increased sensitivity to Al, which was not related to the regulation of AtALMT1 and AtMATE expression. Functional categorization of ABI5-mediated genes revealed the importance of cell wall modification and osmoregulation in Al tolerance, a finding supported by osmotic stress treatment on Al tolerance. Our results suggest that ABA signal transduction pathways provide an additional layer of regulatory control over Al tolerance in plants. | Wei Fan Jia Meng Xu Pei Wu Zhi Xin Yang He Qiang Lou Wei Wei Chen Jian Fen Jin Shao Jian Zheng Jian Li Yang | 2019 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2019,61,2: | 9
Drp1-dependent mitochondrial fission in cardiovascular disease显示文摘Mitochondria are highly dynamic organelles undergoing cycles of fusion and fission to modulate their morphology, distribution, and function, which are referred as‘mitochondrial dynamics’.Dynamin-related protein 1(Drp1)is known as the major pro-fission protein whose activity is tightly regulated to clear the damaged mitochondria via mitophagy, ensuring a strict control over the intricate process of cellular and organ dynamics in heart.Various posttranslational modifications(PTMs)of Drp1 have been identified including phosphorylation,SUMOylation,palmitoylation,ubiquitination,S-nitrosylation,and O-GlcNAcylation,which implicate a role in the regulation of mitochondrial dynamics. An intact mitochondrial homeostasis is critical for heart to fuel contractile function and cardiomyocyte metabolism, while defects in mitochondrial dynamics constitute an essential part of the pathophysiology underlying various cardiovascular diseases(CVDs).In this review,we summarize current knowledge on the critical role of Drp1 in the pathogenesis of CVDs including endothelial dysfunction, smooth muscle remodeling, cardiac hypertrophy, pulmonary arterial hypertension, myocardial ischemia–reperfusion, and myocardial infarction. We also highlight how the targeting of Drp1 could potentially contribute to CVDs treatments. | Jia-yu Jin Xiang-xiang Wei Xiu-ling Zhi Xin-hong Wang Dan Meng | 2021 | Acta Pharmacologica Sinica2021,42,5: | 9
Internal compared with external drainage of pancreatic duct during pancreaticoduodenectomy: a retrospective study显示文摘Objective: To compare internal with external drainage of the pancreatic duct during pancreaticoduodenectomy with regard to the incidence of postoperative pancreatic fistula(POPF) and other complications. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 316 patients who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy with a placed drainage tube(external, n=128; internal, n=188) in the pancreatic duct from 1 January 1999 to 31 December 2011 in Tianjin Third Central Hospital of China. The incidence of POPF and some other complications were compared. Results: There was no difference in the incidence rates of POPF between those given an internal or external drainage tube(P=0.788), but POPF was more severe in the former(P=0.014). Intraperitoneal bleeding rate was also higher in the patients with internal drainage(P=0.040), but operative time and postoperative hospitalization were longer in those with external drainage(P=0.002 and P=0.007, respectively). There was no difference between the groups with regard to the incidence rates of gastrointestinal bleeding, delayed gastric emptying, pulmonary infection, or incision infection and in-hospital mortality. Conclusions: External drainage of the pancreatic duct during pancreaticoduodenectomy can decrease the severity of POPF, but operative time and postoperative hospitalization will be extended. | Guangxing Meng Qianzhe Xing Qiang Yuan Zhi Du Yijun Wang Hua Meng | 2014 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2014,26,3: | 8

Reducing the oxidative stress mediates the cardioprotection of bicyclol against ischemia-reperfusion injury in rats显示文摘Objective:To investigate the beneficial effect of bicyclol on rat hearts subjected to ischemia-reperfusion(IR) injuries and its possible mechanism. Methods:Male Sprague-Dawley rats were intragastrically administered with bicyclol(25,50 or 100 mg/(kg·d)) for 3 d.Myocardial IR was produced by occlusion of the coronary artery for 1 h and reperfusion for 3 h.Left ventricular hemodynamics was continuously monitored. At the end of reperfusion, myocardial infarct was measured by 2,3,5-triphenyltetrazolium chloride(TTC) staining, and serum lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) level and myocardial superoxide dismutase(SOD) activity were determined by spectrophotometry.Isolated ventricular myocytes from adult rats were exposed to 60 min anoxia and 30 min reoxygenation to simulate IR injuries. After reperfusion, cell viability was determined with trypan blue;reactive oxygen species(ROS) and mitochondrial membrane potential of the cardiomyocytes were measured with the fluorescent probe. The mitochondrial permeability transition pore(mPTP) opening induced by Ca2+(200 μmol/L) was measured with the absorbance at 520 nm in the isolated myocardial mitochondria. Results:Low dose of bicyclol(25 mg/(kg·d)) had no significant improving effect on all cardiac parameters, whereas pretreatment with high bicyclol markedly reduced the myocardial infarct and improved the left ventricular contractility in the myocardium exposed to IR(P<0.05).Medium dose of bicyclol(50 mg/(kg·d)) markedly improved the myocardial contractility, left ventricular myocyte viability, and SOD activity,as well decreased infarct size, serum LDH level,ROS production, and mitochondrial membrane potential in rat myocardium exposed to IR.The reduction of ventricular myocyte viability in IR group was inhibited by pretreatment with 50 and 100 mg/(kg·d) bicyclol(P<0.05 vs.IR),but not by 25 mg/(kg·d) bicyclol. The opening of mPTP evoked by Ca2+ was significantly inhibited by medium bicyclol. Conclusions:Bicyclol exerts cardioprotection against IR injury,at least, via reducing oxidative stress and its subsequent mPTP opening. | Jie CUI Zhi LI Ling-bo QIAN Qin GAO Jue WANG Meng XUE Xiao-e LOU Iain C.BRUCE Qiang XIA Hui-ping WANG | 2013 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2013,14,6: | 8
Increased Chondrocyte Apoptosis in Kashin-Beck Disease and Rats Induced by T-2 Toxin and Selenium Deficiency显示文摘Objective To investigate chondrocyte apoptosis and the expression of biochemical markers associated with apoptosis in Kashin-Beck disease(KBD) and in an established T-2 toxin-and selenium(Se) deficiency-induced rat model. Methods Cartilages were collected from the hand phalanges of five patients with KBD and five healthy children. Sprague-Dawley rats were administered a selenium-deficient diet for 4 weeks prior to T-2 toxin exposure. The apoptotic chondrocytes were observed by terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase d UTP nick end labeling staining. Caspase-3, p53, Bcl-2, and Bax proteins in the cartilages were visualized by immunohistochemistry, their protein levels were determined by Western blotting, and m RNA levels were determined by real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Results Increased chondrocyte apoptosis was observed in the cartilages of children with KBD. Increased apoptotic and caspase-3-stained cells were observed in the cartilages of rats fed with normal and Se-deficient diets plus T-2 toxin exposure compared to those in rats fed with normal and Se-deficient diets. Caspase-3, p53, and Bax proteins and m RNA levels were higher, whereas Bcl-2 levels were lower in rats fed with normal or Se-deficiency diets supplemented with T-2 toxin than the corresponding levels in rats fed with normal diet. Conclusion T-2 toxin under a selenium-deficient nutritional status induces chondrocyte death, which emphasizes the role of chondrocyte apoptosis in cartilage damage and progression of KBD. | YANG Hao Jie ZHANG Ying WANG Zhi Lun XUE Sen Hai LI Si Yuan ZHOU Xiao Rong ZHANG Meng FANG Qian WANG Wen Jun CHEN Chen DENG Xiang Hua CHEN Jing Hong | 2017 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2017,30,5: | 7
H2 strain attenuated live hepatitis A vaccines:protective efficacy in a hepatitis A outbreak显示文摘AIM To investigate the protective efficacy ofH2 strain attenuated live hepatitis A vaccines(H2-strain vaccines)in hepatitis A(HA)outbreaks.METHODS With the permission of theirparents,5551 pre-school and grade 1-3 primaryschool children were inoculated with 1 dose(106.5TCID50)of H2-strain vaccines in anonrandomized, controlled trial conducted inFucheng County,Hebei Province in May 1997.Another 6485 children in the same grades andcompatible in gender and age were enrolled ascontrols.Epidemiological and serological surveywas conducted to evaluate the protectiveefficacy of the vaccines.ELISA was used todetect serum IgM anti-HAV.RESULTS HA outbreak started in early May1998,peaked in the middle of the same month, and lasted about 80 days.Overall 302 HA caseswere found,192(53.58%)were 5-9 years old.One vaccinee and 25 control cases were found tohave hepatitis A,which account for 0.28%(1/356)and 5.92%(25/422)of all vaccinees andcontrols in the 14 villages, respectively. The protective efficacy of vaccines was 95.27%(95% Cl:85.83%-104.72%).In subjects testedfor anti-HAV IgM from 13 villages,1(0.40%)overt and 11(4.06%)asymptomatic HAV caseswere found in 271 vaccinees, but 21(6.69%)ofovert and asymptomatic ones were found in 314controls.CONCLUSION H2 strain vaccines were excellent in preventing overt hepatitis A, but not so effective in preventing asymptomatic hepatitis A virus infection. A booster dose might be needed to get permanent reliable immunity. | Yu Liang Zhao Zong Da Meng Zhi Yi Xu Jun Jie Guo Shao Ai Chai Cheng Gang Duo Xuan Yi Wang Jin Feng Yao Hong Bin Liu Shun Xiang Qi Hui Bin Zhu | 2000 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2000,6,6: | 7
Review of the pharmacological effects of astragalosideⅣand its autophagic mechanism in association with inflammation显示文摘Astragalus membranaceus Bunge, known as Huangqi, has been used to treat various diseases for a long time.AstragalosideⅣ(AS-Ⅳ)is one of the primary active ingredients of the aqueous Huangqi extract. Many experimental models have shown that AS-Ⅳexerts broad beneficial effects on cardiovascular disease, nervous system diseases, lung disease, diabetes, organ injury, kidney disease, and gynaecological diseases. This review demonstrates and summarizes the structure, solubility, pharmacokinetics, toxicity, pharmacological effects, and autophagic mechanism of AS-Ⅳ.The autophagic effects are associated with multiple signalling pathways in experimental models, including the PI3KI/Akt/m TOR,PI3KⅢ/Beclin-1/Bcl-2,PI3K/Akt,AMPK/m TOR,PI3K/Akt/m TOR,SIRT1–NF-κB,PI3K/AKT/AS160,and TGF-β/Smad signalling pathways.Based on this evidence,AS-Ⅳcould be used as a replacement therapy for treating the multiple diseases referenced above. | Ying Yang Meng Hong Wen-Wen Lian Zhi Chen | 2022 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2022,10,28: | 7

Compression-related EMIC waves drive relativistic electron precipitation显示文摘With coordinated observations of the NOAA 15 satellite and OUL magnetometer station in Finland, we report that the electromagnetic ion cyclotron(EMIC) waves which were stimulated by the compression of the magnetosphere drive relativistic electron precipitation in geoquiescence on 1 Jan 2007. After an enhancement of solar wind dynamic pressure(SWDP), a dayside Pc1 pulsation was observed by the OUL station. Such a Pc1 pulsation is caused by an EMIC wave which propagates from the generation source to lower altitudes. Simultaneously, the NOAA 15 satellite registered an enhancement of precipitating electron count rates with energies >3 Me V within the anisotropic zone of protons. This phenomenon is coincident with the quasi-linear theoretical calculation presented in this paper. Our observations suggest that after a positive impulse of solar wind, the compression-related EMIC waves can drive relativistic electrons precipitation and play a pivotal role in the dynamic of radiation belts. | WANG De Dong YUAN Zhi Gang DENG Xiao Hua ZHOU Meng HUANG Shi Yong LI Ming LI Hui Min LI Hai Meng RAITA Tero PANG Ye | 2014 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2014,57,12: | 6
Genetic analysis and preimplantation genetic diagnosis of Chinese Marfan syndrome patients显示文摘Marfan syndrome (MFS)(OMIM 154700) is a relatively common autosomal dominant genetic disease that causes skeletal, ocular, and cardiovascular defects and was first described by a French pediatrician in 1896 (Bitterman and Sponseller, 2017). Its prevalence rate is 1/3000—1/5000, and more than 25% of cases are sporadic (Chiu et al., 2014). Studies have shown that about 90% of MFS is caused by variants in the fibrillin-1 gene (FBN1, OMIM 134797). FBN1, located on chromosome 15q21.1, encodes a macromolecular glycoprotein-fibrin 1, which aggregates to form microfibers in the extracellular matrix and distributes in various human connective tissues, such as periosteum, vessel wall, and crystal suspensor ligament. Variants in FNB1 have been reported in 65 exons, but the relationship between genotype and phenotype remains rather unclear (Sakai et al., 2016). Studies have also shown that patients with MFS and similar diseases may have variants in other related genes such as members of the transforming growth factor beta receptor (TGFBR) family (Mizuguchi et al., 2004;Sakai et al., 2006;Bolar et al., 2012;De Cario et al., 2018). For better prevention and treatment of MFS as well as for suspected MFS patients, there is a strong need for efficient genetic testing for early diagnosis and differential diagnoses of patients with related phenotypes (Aubart et al., 2018). | Meng Qin Xiaohui Zhu Zhe Zhang Xuemin Li Zhiqiang Yan Yuqian Wang Shuo Guan Yihua He Wenxin Zhang Liying Yan Jie Qiao Xu Zhi | 2019 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2019,46,6: | 6
