| 2 | 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. | 3 | Three-dimensional finite element analysis of weakened roots restored with different cements in combination with titanium alloy posts显示文摘Background It is very difficult and relatively unpredictable to preserve and restore severely weakened pulpless roots. To provide much needed benefit basis for clinical practice, this study was carried out to analyze the stress distribution in weakened roots restored with different cements in combination with titanium alloy posts. Finite element analysis (FEA) was employed in the study. Methods A pseudo three-dimensional model of a maxillary central incisor with flared root canal, theoretically restored with titanium alloy posts in combination with different cements, was established. The analysis was performed by use of ANSYS software. The tooth was assumed to be isotropic, homogenous and elastic. A load of 100 N at an angle of 45°to the longitudinal axis was applied at the palatal surface of the crown. The distributions of stresses in weakened roots filled with cements of different elastic modulus were analyzed by the three-dimensional FEA model. Results Several stress trends were observed when the stress cloud atlas obtained in the study was analyzed. With the increase of the elastic modulus of cements from 1.8 GPa to 22.4 GPa, the stress values in dentin decreased from 39.58 MPa to 31.43 MPa and from 24.51 MPa to 20.76 MPa (respectively, for maximum principle stress values and Von Mises stress values). When Panavia F and zinc phosphate cement were used, the stress peak values in dentin were very small with no significant difference observed, and the Von Mises stress values were 20.87 MPa and 20.76 MPa respectively. On the other hand, maximum principle stress value and Von Mises stress value in cement layer increased with the increase of the elastic modulus of cements. Conclusions The result of this study demonstrated that elastic modulus was indeed one of the important parameters to evaluate property of the cements. Our three-dimensional FEA model study also found that the cement with elastic modulus similar to that of dentin could reinforce weakened root and reduce the stress in dentin. | 5 | Is total laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy superior to open procedure? A meta-analysis显示文摘BACKGROUND Laparoscopy has been widely used in general surgical procedures,but total laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy(TLPD)is still a complex and challenging surgery that is only performed in a small number of patients at a few large academic medical centers.Although the safety and feasibility of TLPD have been established,few studies have compared it with open pancreaticoduodenectomy(OPD)with regard to perioperative and oncological outcomes.Therefore,we carried out a meta-analysis to evaluate whether TLPD is superior to OPD.AIM To compare the treatment outcomes of TLPD and OPD in order to assess the safety and feasibility of TLPD.METHODS We conducted a systematic search of studies comparing TLPD with OPD that were published in the PubMed,EMBASE,and Cochrane Library databases through December 31,2018.The studies comparing TLPD and OPD with at least one of the outcomes we were interested in and with more than 10 cases in each group were included in this analysis.The Newcastle-Ottawa scale was used to assess the quality of the nonrandomized controlled trials and the Jadad scale was used to assess the randomized controlled trials.Intraoperative data,postoperative complications,and oncologic outcomes were evaluated.The metaanalysis was performed using Review Manager Software version 5.3.Random or fixed-effects meta-analyses were undertaken to measure the pooled estimates.RESULTS A total of 4790 articles were initially identified for our study.After screening,4762 articles were excluded and 28 studies representing 39771 patients(3543 undergoing TLPD and 36228 undergoing OPD)were eventually included.Patients who underwent TLPD had less intraoperative blood loss[weighted mean difference(WMD)=-260.08 mL,95%confidence interval(CI):(-336.02,-184.14)mL,P<0.00001],a lower blood transfusion rate[odds ratio(OR)=0.51,95%CI:0.36-0.72,P=0.0001],a lower perioperative overall morbidity(OR=0.82,95%CI:0.73-0.92,P=0.0008),a lower wound infection rate(OR=0.48,95%CI:0.34-0.67,P<0.0001),a lower pneumonia rate(OR=0.72,95%CI:0.60-0.85,P=0.0002),a shorter duration of intensive care unit(ICU)stay[WMD=-0.28 d,95%CI(-2.88,-1.29)d,P<0.00001]and a shorter length of hospital stay[WMD=-3.05 d,95%CI(-3.93,-2.17),P<0.00001],a lower rate of discharge to a new facility(OR=0.55,95%CI:0.39-0.78,P=0.0008),and a lower 30-d readmission rate(OR=0.81,95%CI:0.68-0.95,P=0.10)than those who underwent OPD.In addition,the TLPD group had a higher R0 rate(OR=1.28,95%CI:1.13-1.44,P=0.0001)and more lymph nodes harvested(WMD=1.32,95%CI:0.57-2.06,P=0.0005)than the OPD group.However,the patients who underwent TLPD experienced a significantly longer operative time(WMD=77.92 min,95%CI:40.89-114.95,P<0.0001)and had a smaller tumor size than those who underwent OPD[WMD=-0.32 cm,95%CI:(-0.58,-0.07)cm,P=0.01].There were no significant differences between the two groups in the major morbidity,postoperative pancreatic fistula,delayed gastric emptying,postpancreatectomy hemorrhage,bile leak,gastroenteric anastomosis fistula,intra-abdominal abscess,bowel obstruction,fluid collection,reoperation,ICU admission,or 30-d and 90-d mortality rates.For malignant tumors,the 1-,2-,3-,4-and 5-year overall survival rates were not significantly different between the two groups.CONCLUSION This meta-analysis indicates that TLPD is safe and feasible,and may be a desirable alternative to OPD,although a longer operative time is needed and only smaller tumors can be treated. | Hua Zhang Xiang Lan Bing Peng Bo Li | 2019 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2019,25,37: | 19 |
| 6 | TALEN-Mediated Homologous Recombination Produces Site-Directed DNA Base Change and Herbicide-Resistant Rice显示文摘Over the last decades,much endeavor has been made to advance genome editing technology due to its promising role in both basic and synthetic biology.The breakthrough has been made in recent years with the advent of sequence-specific endonucleases,especially zinc finger nucleases(ZFNs),transcription activator-like effector nucleases(TALENs) and clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPRs) guided nucleases(e.g.,Cas9).In higher eukaryotic organisms,site-directed mutagenesis usually can be achieved through non-homologous end-joining(NHEJ) repair to the DNA double-strand breaks(DSBs) caused by the exogenously applied nucleases.However,site-specific gene replacement or genuine genome editing through homologous recombination(HR) repair to DSBs remains a challenge.As a proof of concept gene replacement through TALEN-based HR in rice(Oryza sativa),we successfully produced double point mutations in rice acetolactate synthase gene(OsALS) and generated herbicide resistant rice lines by using TALENs and donor DNA carrying the desired mutations.After ballistic delivery into rice calli of TALEN construct and donor DNA,nine HR events with different genotypes of OsALS were obtained in T_0 generation at the efficiency of 1.4%—6.3%from three experiments.The HRmediated gene edits were heritable to the progeny of T_1 generation.The edited T_1 plants were as morphologically normal as the control plants while displayed strong herbicide resistance.The results demonstrate the feasibility of TALEN-mediated genome editing in rice and provide useful information for further genome editing by other nuclease-based genome editing platforms. | Ting Li Bo Liu Chih Ying Chen Bing Yang | 2016 | Journal of Genetics and Genomics2016,43,5: | 15 |
| 7 | Expression and clinical significance of CD73 and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α in gastric carcinoma显示文摘AIM: To investigate the expression of CD73 and hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) in human gastric carcinoma, and explore their clinical significance and prognostic value. METHODS: CD73 and HIF-1α expressions were detected by immunohistochemistry in consecutive sections of tissue samples from 68 gastric carcinoma patients. The peritumor tissues 2 cm away from the tumor were obtained and served as controls. The presence of CD73 and HIF-1α was analyzed by immunohis-tochemistry using the Envision technique. RESULTS: CD73 and HIF-1α expressions in gastric carcinoma were significantly higher than those in gastric mucosal tissues as control (P < 0.001) and showed a close correlation (Spearman r = 0.390, P = 0.001). Overexpression of CD73 was positively correlated with differentiation of tumor (P = 0.000), histopathology (P = 0.041), depth of invasion (P < 0.001), nodal status (P = 0.003), metastasis (P = 0.013), and the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) stage (P < 0.001). High expression of HIF-1α was positively correlated with tumor diameter (P = 0.031), depth of invasion (P = 0.022), and AJCC stage (P = 0.035). The overall survival rate was low in the patients with high expression of CD73 (P < 0.001). Moreover, CD73+/HIF-1α+ patients had the worst prognosis (P < 0.001). CD73 expression was proven to be an independent predictor for patients with gastric carcinoma by both multivariate Cox regression analysis (P = 0.021) and receiver operating characteristic curves (P = 0.001).CONCLUSION: CD73 expression correlates closely with HIF-1α expression in gastric carcinoma. | 8 | Xa1 Allelic R Genes Activate Rice Blight Resistance Suppressed by Interfering TAL Effectors显示文摘Xanthomonas oryzae pathovar oryzae(Xoo)uses transcription activator-like effectors(TALEs)to cause bacterial blight(BB)in rice.In turn,rice has evolved several mechanisms to resist BB by targeting TALEs.One mechanism involves the nucleotide-binding leucine-rich repeat(NLR)resistance gene Xa1 and TALEs.Reciprocally,Xoo has evolved TALE variants,C-terminally truncated versions(interfering TALEs or iTALEs),to overcome Xa1 resistance.However,it remains unknown to what extent the two co-adaptive mechanisms mediate Xoo–rice interactions.In this study,we cloned and characterized five additional Xa1 allelic R genes,Xa2,Xa31(t),Xa14,CGS-Xo111,and Xa45(t)from a collection of rice accessions.Sequence analysis revealed that Xa2 and Xa31(t)from different rice cultivars are identical.These genes and their predicted proteins were found to be highly conserved,forming a group of Xa1 alleles.The XA1 alleles could be distinguished by the number of C-terminal tandemrepeats consisting of 93 amino acid residues and ranged from four in XA14 to seven in XA45(t).Xa1 allelic genes were identified in the 3000 rice genomes surveyed.On the other hand,iTALEs could suppress the resistance mediated by Xa1 allelic R genes,and iTALE genes were prevalent(95%)in Asian,but not in African Xoo strains.Our findings demonstrate the prominence of a defense mechanism in which rice depends on Xa1 alleles and a counteracting mechanismin which Xoo relies on iTALEs for BB. | Chonghui Ji Zhiyuan Ji Bo Liu He Cheng Hua Liu Sanzhen Liu Bing Yang Gongyou Chen | 2020 | Plant Communications2020,1,4: | 14 |

| 10 | Insight-HXMT observations of the first binary neutron star merger GW170817显示文摘Finding the electromagnetic(EM) counterpart of binary compact star merger, especially the binary neutron star(BNS) merger,is critically important for gravitational wave(GW) astronomy, cosmology and fundamental physics. On Aug. 17, 2017,Advanced LIGO and Fermi/GBM independently triggered the first BNS merger, GW170817, and its high energy EM counterpart,GRB 170817 A, respectively, resulting in a global observation campaign covering gamma-ray, X-ray, UV, optical, IR, radio as well as neutrinos. The High Energy X-ray telescope(HE) onboard Insight-HXMT(Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope) is the unique high-energy gamma-ray telescope that monitored the entire GW localization area and especially the optical counterpart(SSS17 a/AT2017 gfo) with very large collection area(~1000 cm^2) and microsecond time resolution in 0.2-5 MeV. In addition,Insight-HXMT quickly implemented a Target of Opportunity(ToO) observation to scan the GW localization area for potential X-ray emission from the GW source. Although Insight-HXMT did not detect any significant high energy(0.2-5 MeV) radiation from GW170817, its observation helped to confirm the unexpected weak and soft nature of GRB 170817 A. Meanwhile,Insight-HXMT/HE provides one of the most stringent constraints(~10^(-7) to 10^(-6) erg/cm^2/s) for both GRB170817 A and any other possible precursor or extended emissions in 0.2-5 MeV, which help us to better understand the properties of EM radiation from this BNS merger. | 13 | Phylogenetic relationships of Cyrtandromoea and Wightia revisited: A new tribe in Phrymaceae and a new family in Lamiales显示文摘The familial placements of Cyrtandromoea Zoll. and Wightia Wall., two small and enigmatic South‐East Asian genera, have long been controversial in Lamiales. Here we adopt a two‐step approach to resolve their phylogenetic relationships. We initially reconstructed a large‐scale phylogeny of Lamiales using six chloroplast markers (atpB, matK, ndhF, psbBTNH, rbcL, and rps4). The results showed that both Cyrtandromoea and Wightia emerged in the LMPO clade, including Lamiaceae, Mazaceae, Phrymaceae, Paulowniaceae, and Orobanchaceae. Based on the second set of six chloroplast markers (atpB, matK, ndhF, rbcL, rps16, and trnL‐F) and two nuclear ribosomal regions (external transcribed spacer and internal transcribed spacer) for the analyses focusing on the LMPO clade, our results revealed that Cyrtandromoea was consistently nested within Phrymaceae, whereas Wightia was supported as sister to Phrymaceae by the chloroplast DNA dataset or sister to Paulowniaceae by the nuclear ribosomal DNA dataset. Morphological and anatomical evidence fully supports the inclusion of Cyrtandromoea in Phrymaceae, and an updated tribal classification is done for Phrymaceae with five tribes, that is, Cyrtandromoeeae Bo Li, Bing Liu, Su Liu & Y. H. Tan, trib. nov., Diplaceae Bo Li, Bing Liu, Su Liu & Y. H. Tan, trib. nov., Leucocarpeae, Mimuleae, and Phrymeae. The conflicting phylogenetic position of Wightia indicated by different genome markers results in difficulty placing the genus in either Phrymaceae or Paulowniaceae. Considering the distinct morphological differences between Wightia and other families in the LMPO clade, we here propose a new family, Wightiaceae Bo Li, Bing Liu, Su Liu & Y. H. In this study, an ethyl methanesulfonate(EMS)-induced soybean(Glycine max) population,consisting of 21,600 independent M_2 lines, was developed.Over 1,000 M_(4(5))families, with diverse abnormal phenotypes for seed composition, seed shape, plant morphology and maturity that are stably expressed across different environments and generations were identified. Phenotypic analysis of the population led to the identification of a yellow pigmentation mutant, gyl, that displayed significantly decreased chlorophyll(Chl) content and abnormal chloroplast development. Sequence analysis showed that gyl is allelic to Minn Gold, where a different single nucleotide polymorphism variation in the Mg-chelatase subunit gene(ChlI1a) results in golden yellow leaves. A cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence marker was developed and may be applied to marker-assisted selection for the golden yellow phenotype in soybean breeding.
