| 1 | Trends in Lipids Level and Dyslipidemia among Chinese Adults, 2002-2015显示文摘Objective To investigate the trends of lipid profiles and dyslipidemia among Chinese adults from 2002 to 2015.Methods Data were collected from three nationally representative cross-sectional surveys.Fasting venous blood samples were collected and serum lipids were tested by biochemical analysis and enzymatic determination.Lipid levels and the prevalence of dyslipidemia among adults were analyzed with complex sampling weighting adjustment for age and gender.Results The weighted means of TC, TG, and LDL-c significantly increased linearly from 3.93, 1.12, and 2.12 mmol/L in 2002 to 4.59, 1.41, and 2.78 mmol/L in 2010 and then to 4.63, 1.47, and 2.87 mmol/L in 2015, respectively;by contrast, HDL-c levels decreased significantly from 1.30 mmol/L to 1.26 mmol/L over the same period.Similar trends in mean non-HDL-c and lipid-related ratios were observed.The weighted dyslipidemia prevalence linearly increased;in particular, hypercholesterolemia increased from 1.6% to 5.6% and then to 5.8%, hypertriglyceridemia increased from 5.7% to 13.6% and then to 15.0%, low HDL-c increased from 18.8% to 35.5% and then to 24.9%, and high LDL-c increased from 1.3% to 5.6% and then to 7.2%(P for trend <0.001).Conclusion Dyslipidemia increased among Chinese adults from 2002 to 2015.Development of a comprehensive strategy to decrease lipid levels in this population is urgently required. | SONG Peng Kun MAN Qing Qing LI Hong PANG Shao Jie JIA Shan Shan LI Yu Qian HE Li ZHAO Wen Hua ZHANG Jian | 2019 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2019,32,8: | 45 |
| 2 | The Association of Maternal Body Composition and Dietary Intake with the Risk of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus during the Second Trimester in a Cohort of Chinese Pregnant Women显示文摘Objective To investigate the association of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM). Methods A total 154 GDM subjects and 981 controls were enrolled in a prospective cohort study in 11 hospitals from May 20, 2012 to December 31, 2013. Bioelectrical impedance analysis and dietary surveys were used to determine body composition and to evaluate the intake of nutrients in subjects at 21-24 weeks' gestation(WG). Logistic regression analysis was applied to explore the relationships of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of GDM morbidity. Results Age, pre-pregnant body weight(BW), and body mass index(BMI) were associated with increased risk of GDM. Fat mass(FM), fat mass percentage(FMP), extracellular water(ECW), BMI, BW, energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates at 21-24 WG were associated with an increased risk of GDM. In contrast, fat free mass(FFM), muscular mass(MM), and intracellular water(ICW) were associated with a decreased risk of GDM. | 6 | Paleoproterozoic reworking of ancient crust in the Cathaysia Block,South China:Evidence from zircon trace elements,U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotopes显示文摘A combined study of zircon LA-ICP-MS U-Pb dating, trace elements and Hf isotope was carried out for gneissic granite from the Sanzhishu area in Jingning, SW Zhejiang Province. Nearly all the zircons separated from the granite exhibited oscillatory zoning and high Th/U ratios (>0.1). The REE profile showed a pronounced positive Ce anomaly, negative Eu anomaly and an enrichment of HREE, which are typical characteristics of magmatic zircon. Thirteen concordant or nearly concordant analytical data yielded a weighted mean 207Pb/206Pb age of 1860±13 Ma (MSWD=0.084), representing the formation age of the granite. The magmatic zircons had negative εHf(t) values of -15.6 to -10.0 and two-stage Hf model ages of 3.1 to 3.4 Ga, indicating that the granites were formed by reworking of ancient crust. The major- and trace-element data indicate that the gneissic granites are metaluminous high-K calc-alkaline rocks and exhibit the same geochemical characteristics as aluminous A-type granites, implying the emplacement of the granite in a post-orogenic extensional tectonic setting. | 9 | Biochar: A review of its impact on pesticide behavior in soil environments and its potential applications显示文摘Biochar is produced from the pyrolysis of carbon-rich plant- and animal-residues under low oxygen and high temperature conditions and has been increasingly used for its positive role in soil compartmentalization through activities such as carbon sequestration and improving soil quality. Biochar is also considered a unique adsorbent due to its high specific surface area and highly carbonaceous nature. Therefore, soil amendments with small amounts of biochar could result in higher adsorption and, consequently, decrease the bioavailability of contaminants to microbial communities, plants, earthworms, and other organisms in the soil. However, the mechanisms affecting the environmental fate and behavior of organic contaminants, especially pesticides in biochar-amended soil, are not well understood. The purpose of this work is to review the role of biochar in primary processes, such as adsorption–desorption and leaching of pesticides. Biochar has demonstrable effects on the fate and effects of pesticides and has been shown to affect the degradation and bioavailability of pesticides for living organisms. | 10 | Effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi inoculation on arsenic accumulation by tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum L.)显示文摘A pot experiment was conducted to study the effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal(AM) fungi(from contaminated or uncontaminated soils) on arsenic(As) uptake of tobacco(Nicotiana tabacum L.) in As-contaminated soil.Mycorrhizal colonization rate,dry weight,As and P uptake by plants,concentrations of water-extractable As and As fractions were determined.A low mycorrhizal colonization rate(<25%) was detected.Our research indicated that AM fungi isolated from polluted soils were no more effective than those from unpolluted soils when grown in symbiosis with tobacco.No significant differences were observed in roots and stalks dry weights among all treatments.Leaves and total plant dry weights were much higher in Glomus versiforme treatment than that in control treatment.As contents in roots and stalks from mycorrhizal treatments were much lower than that from control treatment.Total plant As content exhibited the same trend.P concentrations in tobacco were not affected by colonization,nor were stalks,leaves and total plant P contents.Roots P contents were remarkably lower in HN treatments than in other treatments.Meanwhile,decreased soil pH and lower water-extractable As concentrations and higher levels of As fraction bound to well-crystallized hydrous oxides of Fe and Al were found in mycorrhizal treatments than in controls.The protective effect of mycorrhiza against plant As uptake may be associated with changes in As solubility mediated by changing soil pH.These results indicated that under As stress,proper mechanisms employed by AM fungi can protect tobacco against As uptake.Results confirmed that AM fungi can play an important role in food quality and safety. | HUA Jianfeng LIN Xiangui YIN Rui JIANG Qian SHAO Yufang | 2009 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2009,21,9: | 19 |
| 11 | Connective tissue diseases in primary biliary cirrhosis:A population-based cohort study显示文摘AIM:To establish the frequency and clinical features of connective tissue diseases(CTDs)in a cohort of Chinese patients with primary biliary cirrhosis(PBC).METHODS:Three-hundred and twenty-two Chinese PBC patients were screened for the presence of CTD,and the systemic involvement was assessed.The differences in clinical features and laboratory findings between PBC patients with and without CTD were documented.The diversity of incidence of CTDs in PBC of different countries and areas was discussed.For the comparison of normally distributed data,Student’s t test was used,while non-parametric test(Wilcoxon test)for the non-normally distributed data and 2×2χ2or Fisher’s exact tests for the ratio.RESULTS:One-hundred and fifty(46.6%)PBC patients had one or more CTDs.The most common CTD was Sj gren’s syndrome(SS,121 cases,36.2%).There were nine cases of systemic sclerosis(SSc,2.8%),12of systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE,3.7%),nine of rheumatoid arthritis(RA,2.8%),and 10 of polymyositis(PM,3.1%)in this cohort.Compared to patients with PBC only,the PBC+SS patients were more likely to have fever and elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate(ESR),higher serum immunoglobulin G(IgG)levels and more frequent rheumatoid factor(RF)and interstitial lung disease(ILD)incidences;PBC+SSc patients had higher frequency of ILD;PBC+SLE patients had lower white blood cell(WBC)count,hemoglobin(Hb),platelet count,γ-glutamyl transpeptidase and immunoglobulin M levels,but higher frequency of renal involvement;PBC+RA patients had lower Hb,higher serum IgG,alkaline phosphatase,faster ESR and a higher ratio of RF positivity;PBC+PM patients had higher WBC count and a tendency towards myocardial involvement.CONCLUSION:Besides the common liver manifestation of PBC,systemic involvement and overlaps with other CTDs are not infrequent in Chinese patients.When overlapping with other CTDs,PBC patients manifested some special clinical and laboratory features which may have effect on the prognosis. | Li Wang Feng-Chun Zhang Hua Chen Xuan Zhang Dong Xu Yong-Zhe Li Qian Wang Li-Xia Gao Yun-Jiao Yang Fang Kong Ke Wang | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,31: | 18 |
| 12 | Celastrus orbiculatus extract induces mitochondrial-mediated apoptosis in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the apoptotic effects and underlying molecular mechanisms of Celastrus orbiculatus(C.orbiculatus) extract in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells.METHODS:Human hepatocellular carcinoma cells(HCCLM6) were treated with C.orbiculatus extract(COE) at different nontoxic concentrations(10,20,40,80,and 160 μg/mL).The effect of COE on HC-CLM6 viability was examined using 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide(MTT) assays.Cellular apoptosis following COE treatment was assessed by flow cytometry and western blot analysis.RESULTS:COE significantly inhibited cell viability and induced apoptosis of HCCLM6 cells in a dose-dependent manner.Apoptosis was accompanied by increased Bax expression and decreased Bcl-2 expression.In addition,COE treatment led to the release of cytochrome c,activation of caspase-3,and cleavage of poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase(PARP).Furthermore,activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK),p38 kinase,and c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK) phosphorylation,and down-regulation of Akt phosphorylation was observed.CONCLUSION:COE induces mitochondrial-mediated,caspase-dependent apoptosis in HCCLM6 cells,which might be attributed to the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase(MAPK) and inhibition of Akt signaling pathways.These data suggest that COE may be a potential treatment for human hepatocellular carcinoma. | Hua Zhang Yayun Qian Yanqing Liu Guoqing Li Pingfang Cui Yaodong Zhu Hui Ma Xue Ji Shiyu Guo Hisamits Tadashi | 2012 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2012,32,4: | 18 |

| 17 | The herbal compound geniposide rescues formaldehyde-induced apoptosis in N2a neuroblastoma cells显示文摘The herbal medicine Tong Luo Jiu Nao(TLJN)contains geniposide(GP)and ginsenoside Rg1 at a molar ratio of 10:1.Rg1 is the major component of another herbal medicine,panax notoginseng saponin(PNS).TLJN has been shown to strengthen brain function in humans,and in animals it improves learning and memory.We have previously shown that TLJN reduces amyloidogenic processing in Alzheimer’s disease(AD)mouse models.Together this suggests TLJN may be a potential treatment for patients with dementia.Because chronic damage of the central nervous system by formaldehyde(FA)has been presented as a risk factor for age-associated cognitive dysfunction,in the present study we investigated the protective effect of both TLJN and GP in neuron-like cells exposed to FA.FA-exposed murine N2a neuroblastoma cells were incubated with TLJN,its main ingredient GP,as well as PNS,to measure cell viability and morphology,the rate of apoptosis and expression of genes encoding Akt,FOXO3,Bcl2 and p53.The CCK-8 assay,cytoskeletal staining and flow cytometry were used to test cell viability,morphology and apoptosis,respectively.Fluorescent quantitative real-time PCR(qRT-PCR)was used to monitor changes in gene expression,and HPLC to determine the rate of FA clearance.Treatment of N2a cells with 0.09 mmol L?1 FA for 24 h significantly reduced cell viability,changed cell morphology and promoted apoptosis.Both TLJN and GP conferred neuroprotection to FA-treated N2a cells,whereas PNS,which had to be used at lower concentrations because of its toxicity,did not.Our data demonstrate that TLJN can rescue neuronal damage caused by FA and that its main ingredient,GP,has a major role in this efficacy.This presents purified GP as a drug or lead compound for the treatment of AD. | CHEN JinYan SUN MengRu WANG XingHua LU Jing WEI Yan TAN Yan LIU Ying GTZ Jürgen HE RongQiao HUA Qian | 2014 | Science China(Life Sciences)2014,57,4: | 15 |
