| 1 | Complete chloroplast genome sequence of Magnolia grandiflora and comparative analysis with related species显示文摘Magnolia grandiflora is an important medicinal,ornamental and horticultural plant species.The chloroplast(cp) genome of M.grandiflora was sequenced using a 454 sequencing platform and the genome structure was compared with other related species.The complete cp genome of M.grandiflora was 159623 bp in length and contained a pair of inverted repeats(IR) of 26563 bp separated by large and small single copy(LSC,SSC) regions of 87757 and 18740 bp,respectively.A total of 129 genes were successfully annotated,18 of which included introns.The identity,number and GC content of M.grandiflora cp genes were similar to those of other Magnoliaceae species genomes.Analysis revealed 218 simple sequence repeat(SSR) loci,most composed of A or T,contributing to a bias in base composition.The types and abundances of repeat units in Magnoliaceae species were relatively conserved and these loci will be useful for developing M.grandiflora cp genome vectors.In addition,results indicated that the cp genome size in Magnoliaceae species and the position of the IR border were closely related to the length of the ycf1 gene.Phylogenetic analyses based on 66 shared genes from 30 species using maximum parsimony(MP) and maximum likelihood(ML) methods provided strong support for the phylogenetic position of Magnolia.The availability of the complete cp genome sequence of M.grandiflora provides valuable information for breeding of desirable varieties,cp genetic engineering,developing useful molecular markers and phylogenetic analyses in Magnoliaceae. | LI XiWen GAO HuanHuan WANG YiTao SONG JingYuan HENRY Robert WU HeZhen HU ZhiGang YAO Hui LUO HongMei LUO Kun PAN HongLin CHEN ShiLin | 2013 | Science China(Life Sciences)2013,56,2: | 17 |
| 2 | Impact of meteorological factors on the incidence of childhood hand,foot,and mouth disease(HFMD)analyzed by DLNMs-based time series approach显示文摘Background:Hand,foot,and mouth disease(HFMD)has become an emerging infectious disease in China in the last decade.There has been evidence that meteorological factors can influence the HFMD incidence,and understanding the mechanisms can help prevent and control HFMD.Methods:HFMD incidence data and meteorological data in Minhang District,Shanghai were obtained for the period between 2009 and 2015.Distributed lag non-linear models(DLNMs)were utilized to investigate the impact of meteorological factors on HFMD incidence after adjusting for potential confounders of long time trend,weekdays and holidays.Results:There was a non-linear relationship between temperature and HFMD incidence,the RR of 5th percentile compared to the median is 0.836(95%CI:0.671-1.042)and the RR of 95th percentile is 2.225(95%CI:1.774-2.792),and the effect of temperature varied across age groups.HFMD incidence increased with increasing average relative humidity(%)(RR=1.009,95%CI:1.005-1.015)and wind speed(m/s)(RR=1.197,95%CI:1.118-1.282),and with decreasing daily rainfall(mm)(RR=0.992,95%CI:0.987-0.997)and sunshine hours(h)(RR=0.966,95%CI:0.951-0.980).Conclusions:There were significant relationships between meteorological factors and childhood HFMD incidence in Minhang District,Shanghai.This information can help local health agencies develop strategies for the control and prevention of HFMD under specific climatic conditions. | Hongchao Qi Yue Chen Dongli Xu Hualin Su Longwen Zhan Zhiyin Xu Ying Huang Qianshan He Yi Hu Henry Lynn Zhijie Zhang | 2018 | Infectious Diseases of Poverty2018,7,1: | 17 |
| 3 | Study on cosmogenic activation in germanium detectors for future tonne-scale CDEX experiment显示文摘A study on cosmogenic activation in germanium was carried out to evaluate the cosmogenic background level of natural and ^(70)Ge depleted germanium detectors. The production rates of long-lived radionuclides were calculated with Geant4 and CRY.Results were validated by comparing the simulated and experimental spectra of CDEX-1B detector. Based on the validated codes, the cosmogenic background level was predicted for further tonne-scale CDEX experiment. The suppression of cosmogenic background level could be achieved by underground germanium crystal growth and high-purity germanium detector fabrication to reach the sensitivity requirement for direct detection of dark matter. | 5 | First experimental constraints on WIMP couplings in the effective field theory framework from CDEX显示文摘We present weakly interacting massive particles(WIMPs) search results performed using two approaches of effective field theory from the China Dark Matter Experiment(CDEX), based on the data from both CDEX-1B and CDEX-10 stages. In the nonrelativistic effective field theory approach, both time-integrated and annual modulation analyses were used to set new limits for the coupling of WIMP-nucleon effective operators at 90% confidence level(C.L.) and improve over the current bounds in the low mχregion. In the chiral effective field theory approach, data from CDEX-10 were used to set an upper limit on WIMP-pion coupling at 90% C.L. | 6 | Die design and process optimization of die cast V6 engine blocks显示文摘The use of aluminum, particularly for engine blocks, has grown considerably in the past ten years, and continues to rise in the automotive industry. In order to enhance the quality and engineering functionality of die cast engine blocks, die design and processes have to be optimized. In this study, a computer simulation software, MAGMAsoft, as an advanced tool for optimizing die design and casting process, was employed to virtually visualize cavity filling and patterns of a V6 engine block. The original die design and process was simulated first to establish a baseline. A reality check was used to verify the predicted results. Then, the die modification with a different runner system was made by using a CAD software, Unigraphics (UG). The simulation on combinations of the modified die design and revised process was performed to examine the effect of die modification and process change on flow filling of V6 engine blocks. The simulated prediction indicates that the enhancement of cavity filling due to the die and process modification minimizes the occurrence of defects during casting, and consequently improves the quality of blocks. | 7 | First results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from CDEX-1 experiment显示文摘We report the first results on ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay from stage one of the China dark-matter experiment(CDEX).A p-type point-contact high-purity germanium detector with a mass of 994 g has been installed to detect neutrinoless double beta decay events, as well as to directly detect dark matter particles. An exposure of 304 kg d has been analyzed over a wide spectral band from 500 keV to 3 MeV. The average event rate obtained was about 0.012 counts per keV per kg per day over the 2.039 MeV energy range. The half-life of ^(76)Ge neutrinoless double beta decay derived based on this result is T^(0ν)1/2>6.4×10^(22) yr(90% C.L.). | 8 | Squeeze casting of aluminum alloy A380: Microstructure and tensile behavior显示文摘A380 alloy with a relatively thick cross-section of 25 mm was squeeze cast using a hydraulic press with an applied pressure of 90 MPa. Microstructure and tensile properties of the squeeze cast A380 were characterized and evaluated in comparison with the die cast counterpart. Results show that the squeeze cast A380 possesses a porosity level much lower than the die cast alloy, which is disclosed by both optical microscopy and the density measurement technique. The results of tensile testing indicate the improved tensile properties, specifically ultimate tensile strength(UTS: 215.9 MPa) and elongation(Ef: 5.4%), for the squeeze cast samples over those of the conventional high-pressure die cast part(UTS: 173.7 MPa, Ef: 1.0%). The analysis of tensile behavior shows that the squeeze cast A380 exhibits a high tensile toughness(8.5 MJ·m-3) and resilience(179.3 k J·m-3) compared with the die cast alloy(toughness: 1.4 MJ·m-3, resilience: 140.6 k J·m-3), despite that, during the onset of plastic deformation, the strain-hardening rate of the die cast specimen is higher than that of the squeeze cast specimens. The microstructure analyzed by the scanning electron microscopy(SEM) shows that both the squeeze and die cast specimens contain the primary α-Al, Al2 Cu, Al5 Fe Si phase and the eutectic Si phase. But, the Al2 Cu phase present in the squeeze cast alloy is relatively large in size and quantity. | 9 | Targeted Ptpn11 deletion in mice reveals the essential role of SHP2 in osteoblast differentiation and skeletal homeostasis显示文摘The maturation and function of osteoblasts(OBs)rely heavily on the reversible phosphorylation of signaling proteins.To date,most of the work in OBs has focused on phosphorylation by tyrosyl kinases,but little has been revealed about dephosphorylation by protein tyrosine phosphatases(PTPases).SHP2(encoded by PTPN11)is a ubiquitously expressed PTPase.PTPN11 mutations are associated with both bone and cartilage manifestations in patients with Noonan syndrome(NS)and metachondromatosis(MC),although the underlying mechanisms remain elusive.Here,we report that SHP2 deletion in bone gamma-carboxyglutamate protein-expressing(Bglap+)bone cells leads to massive osteopenia in both trabecular and cortical bones due to the failure of bone cell maturation and enhanced osteoclast activity,and its deletion in Bglap+chondrocytes results in the onset of enchondroma and osteochondroma in aged mice with increased tubular bone length.Mechanistically,SHP2 was found to be required for osteoblastic differentiation by promoting RUNX2/OSTERIX signaling and for the suppression of osteoclastogenesis by inhibiting STAT3-mediated RANKL production by osteoblasts and osteocytes.These findings are likely to explain the compromised skeletal system in NS and MC patients and to inform the development of novel therapeutics to combat skeletal disorders. | Lijun Wang Huiliang Yang Jiahui Huang Shaopeng Pei Liyun Wang Jian Q.Feng Dian Jing Hu Zhao Henry M.Kronenberg Douglas C.Moore Wentian Yang | 2021 | Bone Research2021,9,1: | 3 |

| 12 | Efficient search of compositional space for hybrid organic-inorganic perovskites via Bayesian optimization显示文摘Accelerated searches,made possible by machine learning techniques,are of growing interest in materials discovery.A suitable case involves the solution processing of components that ultimately form thin films of solar cell materials known as hybrid organic–inorganic perovskites(HOIPs).The number of molecular species that combine in solution to form these films constitutes an overwhelmingly large“compositional”space(at times,exceeding 500,000 possible combinations).Selecting a HOIP with desirable characteristics involves choosing different cations,halides,and solvent blends from a diverse palette of options.An unguided search by experimental investigations or molecular simulations is prohibitively expensive.In this work,we propose a Bayesian optimization method that uses an application-specific kernel to overcome challenges where data is scarce,and in which the search space is given by binary variables indicating whether a constituent is present or not.We demonstrate that the proposed approach identifies HOIPs with the targeted maximum intermolecular binding energy between HOIP salt and solvent at considerably lower cost than previous state-of-the-art Bayesian optimization methodology and at a fraction of the time(less than 10%)needed to complete an exhaustive search.We find an optimal composition within 15±10 iterations in a HOIP compositional space containing 72 combinations,and within 31±9 iterations when considering mixed halides(240 combinations).Exhaustive quantum mechanical simulations of all possible combinations were used to validate the optimal prediction from a Bayesian optimization approach.This paper demonstrates the potential of the Bayesian optimization methodology reported here for new materials discovery. | Henry C.Herbol Weici Hu Peter Frazier Paulette Clancy Matthias Poloczek | 2018 | npj Computational Materials2018,,1: | 2 |

| 18 | Nano-yttrium-containing precipitates of T6 heat-treated A356.2 alloy when trace yttrium(Y less than 0.100 wt%) added显示文摘To investigate the effect of yttrium(Y) on microstructure refinement and mechanical properties of aluminum alloy A356.2,the different trace contents of Y(0 wt%,0.025 wt%,0.050 wt%,0.075 wt%,or 0.100 wt%)were introduced into the liquid alloy.The alloys were fabricated in a preheated permanent mold,and subsequently treated by a T6 heat treatment.The results of tensile testing indicate that the yield strength(YS),the ultimate tensile strength(UTS) and the elongation(El) of the A356.2 alloy are improved by the Y additions.The YS dependence on grain size for the test alloys follows the Hall-Petch equation,which gives YS=-354.1+2875.2 d^(-1/2) with a correlation of R^(2)=0.83.As 0.050 wt%Y is added,the optimum values of the YS,UTS and El are achieved after T6 heat treatment.The secondary phases were identified by X-ray diffraction(XRD) which mainly consisted as Si,Mg2 Si and Al3 Y.The scanning electron microscope(SEM) and energy-dispersive spectrometer(EDS) analyses reveal the presence of the nano-sized Al3 Y particles on the surface of the Si phase.The A356.2 alloy with the Y addition is strengthened by the dendritic refinement,and the presence of the micron-and nano-sized Al3 Y precipitates. | Xin-Ping Hu Qing Wang Henry Hu Rui-Xin Li Yang Zhao Zhi-Ming Wang Bing-Rong Zhang | 2021 | Rare Metals2021,40,11: | 1 |
