| 2 | 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents显示文摘Syncope belongs to the transient loss of consciousness(TLOC), characterized by a rapid onset, short duration, and spontaneous complete recovery. It is common in children and adolescents, accounting for 1% to 2% of emergency department visits.Recurrent syncope can seriously affect children's physical and mental health, learning ability and quality of life and sometimes cardiac syncope even poses a risk of sudden death. The present guideline for the diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was developed for guiding a better clinical management of pediatric syncope. Based on the globally recent development and the evidence-based data in China, 2018 Chinese Pediatric Cardiology Society(CPCS) guideline for diagnosis and treatment of syncope in children and adolescents was jointly prepared by the Pediatric Cardiology Society, Chinese Pediatric Society, Chinese Medical Association(CMA)/Committee on Pediatric Syncope, Pediatricians Branch, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Committee on Pediatric Cardiology, Chinese College of Cardiovascular Physicians, Chinese Medical Doctor Association(CMDA)/Pediatric Cardiology Society, Beijing Pediatric Society, Beijing Medical Association(BMA). | 3 | Correlation of E-selectin gene polymorphisms with risk of ischemic stroke A meta-analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the association of E-selectin S128R polymorphisms with ischemic stroke. DATA SOURCES: A computer-based online search was conducted in PubMed, Elsevier, Ovid Database, the China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang Database between January 1998 and December 2010. STUDY SELECTION: Case-controlled studies addressing the association of the E-selectin polymorphism and ischemic stroke were included in this review. The genotype distribution complied with the Hardy-Weinberg genetic equilibrium. The included reports were evaluated by two authors for strict quality screening. Meta-analysis software, REVMAN 5.1, was used to investigate heterogeneity, pooled odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) in individual studies. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Genotype and allele distributions at the E-selectin S128R site. RESULTS: Six case-controlled studies were included after screening and application of inclusion and exclusion criteria. There was no heterogeneity in the genotype and allele frequencies, and no publication bias was found. Meta-analysis of the pooled data showed that the OR value of the (AC+CC)/AA genotype was 1.93 (95% CI: 1.55-2.41, Z = 5.80, P < 0.000 01), and the OR for the C/A allele was 1.80 (95% CI: 1.47-2.22, Z = 5.59, P < 0.000 01) in the ischemic stroke group, compared with control group. Results of pooled data in Chinese subjects showed that the OR value of (AC+CC)/AA was 2.36 (95% CI: 1.68-3.31, Z = 4.99, P < 0.000 01), and the OR value of the C/A allele was 2.25 (95% CI: 1.63-3.12, Z = 4.89, P < 0.000 01). | 4 | Terrestrial carbon sinks in China and around the world and their contribution to carbon neutrality显示文摘Enhancing the terrestrial ecosystem carbon sink(referred to as terrestrial C sink) is an important way to slow down the continuous increase in atmospheric carbon dioxide(CO_(2)) concentration and to achieve carbon neutrality target.To better understand the characteristics of terrestrial C sinks and their contribution to carbon neutrality,this review summarizes major progress in terrestrial C budget researches during the past decades,clarifies spatial patterns and drivers of terrestrial C sources and sinks in China and around the world,and examines the role of terrestrial C sinks in achieving carbon neutrality target.According to recent studies,the global terrestrial C sink has been increasing from a source of (-0.2±0.9) Pg C yr^(-1)(1 Pg=1015g)in the 1960s to a sink of (1.9±1.1) Pg C yr^(-1) in the 2010s.By synthesizing the published data,we estimate terrestrial C sink of 0.20–0.25 Pg C yr^(-1) in China during the past decades,and predict it to be 0.15–0.52 Pg C yr^(-1) by 2060.The terrestrial C sinks are mainly located in the mid-and high latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere,while tropical regions act as a weak C sink or source.The C balance differs much among ecosystem types:forest is the major C sink;shrubland,wetland and farmland soil act as C sinks;and whether the grassland functions as C sink or source remains unclear.Desert might be a C sink,but the magnitude and the associated mechanisms are still controversial.Elevated atmospheric CO_(2) concentration,nitrogen deposition,climate change,and land cover change are the main drivers of terrestrial C sinks,while other factors such as fires and aerosols would also affect ecosystem C balance.The driving factors of terrestrial C sink differ among regions.Elevated CO_(2) concentration and climate change are major drivers of the C sinks in North America and Europe,while afforestation and ecological restoration are additionally important forcing factors of terrestrial C sinks in China.For future studies,we recommend the necessity for intensive and long-term ecosystem C monitoring over broad geographic scale to improve terrestrial biosphere models for accurately evaluating terrestrial C budget and its dynamics under various climate change and policy scenarios. | Yuanhe Yang Yue Shi Wenjuan Sun Jinfeng Chang Jianxiao Zhu Leiyi Chen Xin Wang Yanpei Guo Hongtu Zhang Lingfei Yu Shuqing Zhao Kang Xu Jiangling Zhu Haihua Shen Yuanyuan Wang Yunfeng Peng Xia Zhao Xiangping Wang Huifeng Hu Shiping Chen Mei Huang Xuefa Wen Shaopeng Wang Biao Zhu Shuli Niu Zhiyao Tang Lingli Liu Jingyun Fang | 2022 | Science China(Life Sciences)2022,65,5: | 32 |
| 5 | CLINICAL APPLICATION OF BODY DIFFUSION WEIGHTED MR IMAGING IN THE DIAGNOSIS AND PREOPERATIVE N STAGING OF CERVICAL CANCER显示文摘Objective To evaluate the clinical impact of body diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) on the diagnosis and preoperative N staging of cervical cancer. Methods Twenty-four patients (mean age 37.9 years old) with proved cervical cancer by cervical biopsy and 24 female patients with other suspected pelvic abnormalities received preoperative body DWI scan. Results of body DWI were compared with pathological findings. The apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values of normal cervix and different pathological types of cervical cancer were compared. ADC value of normal or inflammatory lymph nodes was also compared with that of metastatic ones. Student's t test was used for statistical analysis. Results There were 5 adenocarcinomas and 19 epitheliomas showed with biopsy results, and DWI showed 21 cervical lesions out of them (87.5%). ADC values of the normal cervix (n = 24), epithelioma (n = 19), and adenocar- cinoma (n = 5) were (1.73 ± 0.31) ×10-3, (0.88 ± 0.22) ×10-3, and (1.08 ± 0.12) ×10-3 mm2/s, respectively. Statistical analysis showed significant difference in ADC value between normal cervical tissue and either tumor tissues (both P < 0.01). In patients had lymphadenectomy (n = 24), totally 67 lymph nodes including 16 metastatic lymph nodes were pathologically analyzed, and DWI showed 66 (98.5%) out of them. ADC values of normal/inflammatory and metastatic lymph nodes were (1.07 ± 0.16) ×10-3 and (0.77 ± 0.13) ×10-3 mm2/s (P < 0.01). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve of ADC value of metastatic lymph node showed that area under curve was 0.961. Conclusions ADC value in cervical carcinoma is lower than that in normal cervix, and ADC may have predictive value in subtype discrimination. ADC value may improve the preoperative characterization of lymph node metastasis. | 7 | One-stop strategy for treatment of atrial fibrillation:feasibility and safety of combining catheter ablation and left atrial appendage closure in a single procedure显示文摘Background:Catheter ablation is effective in restoring sinus rhythm and left atrial appendage closure(LAAC)is increasingly used for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation(AF).We aimed to observe the feasibility and safety of performing AF ablation and LAAC in a single(one-stop)procedure.Methods:Consecutive AF patients who underwent the combined procedure of AF ablation and LAAC with WATCHMAN device between March 2017 and September 2018 were prospectively enrolled.Baseline and intra-procedural parameters were evaluated.Three-month and subsequent 1-year follow-up were performed in all and earlier-enrolled subjects,respectively.Results:A total of 178 AF patients(94 males,68.9±8.1 years)underwent the one-stop procedure with CHA2DS2-VASc score 3.3±1.5 and HAS-BLED score 1.6±1.0,respectively.Pulmonary vein isolation was achieved in all patients while additional linear ablation was applied if the operator deemed necessary,yielding immediate ablation success rate of 98.9%(176/178).In the subsequent LAAC,satisfactory seal(residual leak<5 mm)was achieved in all patients.One stroke and four cardiac perforations occurred peri-operatively.At 3-month follow-up,sinus rhythm and satisfactory seal were maintained in 153/178(86.0%)and 178/178(100%)patients,respectively.One stroke and one delayed cardiac tamponade occurred,while no device-related thrombus or device migration was observed.During the 1-year follow-up for the earlier enrolled subjects,52/72(72.2%)of the patients maintained sinus rhythm.There was no stroke or systemic embolism observed.Conclusion:Combining catheter ablation and LAAC in a single procedure can be successfully and safely performed in non-valvular AF patients of Chinese population. | Mu Chen Zhi-Quan Wang Qun-Shan Wang Jian Sun Peng-Pai Zhang Xiang-Fei Feng Wei Li Ying Yu Bo Liu Bin-Feng Mo Rui Zhang Mei Yang Chang-Qi Gong Ming-Zhe Zhao Yi-Chi Yu Yan Zhao Qiu-Fen Lu Yi-Gang Li | 2020 | Chinese Medical Journal2020,,12: | 11 |
| 8 | Porphyromonas gingivalis disrupts vascular endothelial homeostasis in a TLR-NF-κB axis dependent manner显示文摘Cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of mortality worldwide.Vascular endothelial dysfunction is viewed as the initial step of most cardiovascular diseases.Many studies have indicated that periodontal pathogens,especially Porphyromonas gingivalis,are closely correlated with vascular endothelial homeostasis,but the function of P.gingivalis and the underlying mechanisms are still elusive.To illuminate the effects and elucidate the mechanisms of P.gingivalis on endothelial structural integrity,we developed P.gingivalis infection models in vivo and in vitro.Endothelial cell proliferation,differentiation and apoptosis were detected.Here,we showed that P.gingivalis can impair endothelial integrity by inhibiting cell proliferation and inducing endothelial mesenchymal transformation and apoptosis of endothelial cells,which reduce the cell levels and cause the endothelium to lose its ability to repair itself.A mechanistic analysis showed that TLR antagonist or NF-κB signalling inhibitor can largely rescue the damaged integrity of the endothelium caused by P.gingivalis,suggesting that TLR-NF-κB signalling plays a vital role in vascular endothelial homeostasis destroyed by P.gingivalis.These results suggest a potential intervention method for the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. | Mengru Xie Qingming Tang Shaoling Yu Jiwei Sun Feng Mei Jiajia Zhao Lili Chen | 2020 | International Journal of Oral Science2020,12,3: | 9 |

| 11 | Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. | 13 | Antidepressant-Like Effects of Chaihu Shugan Powder(柴胡疏肝散)on Rats Exposed to Chronic Unpredictable Mild Stress through Inhibition of Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress-Induced Apoptosis显示文摘Objective:To investigate the antidepressant-like effects of Chaihu Shugan Powder(CSP,柴胡疏肝散)and to explore its underlying mechanisms.Methods:Thirty-two Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into control(CON),chronic unpredictable mild stress(CUMS),fluoxetine(FLU),and CSP groups,8 rats in each group.All of the rats except for those in the control group were subjected to 3 consecutive weeks of CUMS to establish the depression model.The open field test(OFT),forced swimming test(FST),and sucrose preference test were used to assess the anti-anxiety and antidepressant effects of CSP.Terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase(Td T)d UTP nick-end labeling was used to determine the apoptosis rate in the hippocampal tissues.The m RNA and protein levels of glucose-regulated protein(GRP)78,spliced X-box-binding protein(XBP)-1,CCAAT/enhancerbinding protein homologous protein(CHOP),caspase-12,and c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK)in the hippocampus of rats were evaluated by real-time PCR and Western blot analysis,respectively.Results:Administration of CSP alleviated anxiety and depression-like behavior in CUMS rats,as revealed by enhanced time and distance in the center of the OFT(P<0.05),an increased preference for sucrose,and longer swimming time and shorter immobility time during the FST(all P<0.05).In addition,CSP treatment significantly reduced the rate of apoptosis in rat hippocampal neurons(P<0.05).The m RNA and protein expression levels of GRP78,spliced XBP-1,and CHOP were down-regulated along with the expression of caspase-12 and cleaved caspase-12 proteins(all P<0.05),whereas total and phosphorylated JNK1 protein levels did not differ significantly between control and CSP-treated rats.Conclusion:CSP can improve depression-like behavior in rats exposed to CUMS,possibly by suppressing CHOP and caspase-12 mediated apoptosis in the rat hippocampus. | SUN Ke-huan JIN Yu MEI Zhi-gang FENG Zhi-tao LIU Jie-ren CAO Mei-qun WU Zheng-zhi | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,27,5: | 7 |

| 15 | The heterogeneity of islet autoantibodies and the progression of islet failure in type 1 diabetic patients显示文摘Type 1 diabetes mellitus is heterogeneous in many facets. The patients suffered from type 1 diabetes present several levels of islet function as well as variable number and type of islet-specific autoantibodies. This study was to investigate prevalence and heterogeneity of the islet autoantibodies and clinical phenotypes of type 1 diabetes mellitus; and also discussed the process of islet failure and its risk factors in Chinese type 1 diabetic patients. A total of 1,291 type 1 diabetic patients were enrolled in this study. Demographic information was collected. Laboratory tests including mixed-meal tolerance test, human leukocyte antigen alleles, hemoglobin A1 c, lipids, thyroid function and islet autoantibodies were conducted. The frequency of islet-specific autoantibody in newly diagnosed T1 DM patients(duration shorter than half year) was 73% in East China. According to binary logistic regressions, autoantibody positivity, longer duration and lower Body Mass Index were the risk factors of islet failure. As the disease developed, autoantibodies against glutamic acid decarboxylase declined as well as the other two autoantibodies against zinc transporter 8 and islet antigen 2. The decrease of autoantibodies was positively correlated with aggressive beta cell destruction. Autoantibodies can facilitate the identification of classic T1 DM from other subtypes and predict the progression of islet failure. | 19 | A high-quality genome assembly of Morinda officinalis,a famous native southern herb in the Lingnan region of southern China显示文摘Morinda officinalis is a well-known medicinal and edible plant that is widely cultivated in the Lingnan region of southern China.Its dried roots(called bajitian in traditional Chinese medicine)are broadly used to treat various diseases,such as impotence and rheumatism.Here,we report a high-quality chromosome-scale genome assembly of M.officinalis using Nanopore single-molecule sequencing and Hi-C technology.The assembled genome size was 484.85Mb with a scaffold N50 of 40.97 Mb,and 90.77%of the assembled sequences were anchored on eleven pseudochromosomes.The genome includes 27,698 protein-coding genes,and most of the assemblies are repetitive sequences.Genome evolution analysis revealed that M.officinalis underwent core eudicotγgenome triplication events but no recent whole-genome duplication(WGD).Likewise,comparative genomic analysis showed no large-scale structural variation after species divergence between M.officinalis and Coffea canephora.Moreover,gene family analysis indicated that gene families associated with plant–pathogen interactions and sugar metabolism were significantly expanded in M.officinalis.Furthermore,we identified many candidate genes involved in the biosynthesis of major active components such as anthraquinones,iridoids and polysaccharides.In addition,we also found that the DHQS,GGPPS,TPS-Clin,TPS04,sacA,and UGDH gene families—which include the critical genes for active component biosynthesis—were expanded in M.officinalis.This study provides a valuable resource for understanding M.officinalis genome evolution and active component biosynthesis.This work will facilitate genetic improvement and molecular breeding of this commercially important plant. | Jihua Wang Shiqiang Xu Yu Mei Shike Cai Yan Gu Minyang Sun Zhan Liang Yong Xiao Muqing Zhang Shaohai Yang | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 4 |

This article proposes an initiative protocol for the fabrication of novel Cu-Pd alloy nanocrystals, wherein the volume of decylamine (DA) in the reaction system was found to greatly influence the formation of different morphologies, including the tetrahedron (TH), concave tetrahedron (CTH), rhombohedral-tetrapod (RTP), and tetrapod (TP). The alloy structure of the products arises from the coordination interaction between the DA and metal ions, which affects the reduction potential of Cu and Pd species, and thus yields co-reduction. Other reaction parameters, such as the type of ligand, amount of reductant, and temperature, were also altered to study the growth mechanism, yielding consistent conclusions in the diffusion-controlled regime.
