| 1 | Divergent Projection Patterns Revealed by Reconstruction of Individual Neurons in Orbitofrontal Cortex显示文摘The orbitofrontal cortex(OFC)is involved in diverse brain functions via its extensive projections to multiple target regions.There is a growing understanding of the overall outputs of the OFC at the population level,but reports of the projection patterns of individual OFC neurons across different cortical layers remain rare.Here,by combining neuronal sparse and bright labeling with a whole-brain florescence imaging system(fMOST),we obtained an uninterrupted three-dimensional whole-brain dataset and achieved the full morphological reconstruction of 25 OFC pyramidal neurons.We compared the wholebrain projection targets of these individual OFC neurons in different cortical layers as well as in the same cortical layer.We found cortical layer-dependent projections characterized by divergent patterns for information delivery.Our study not only provides a structural basis for understanding the principles of laminar organizations in the OFC,but also provides clues for future functional and behavioral studies on OFC pyramidal neurons. | Junjun Wang Pei Sun Xiaohua Lv Sen Jin Anan Li Jianxia Kuang Ning Li Yadong Gang Rui Guo Shaoqun Zeng Fuqiang Xu Yu-Hui Zhang | 2021 | Neuroscience Bulletin2021,37,4: | 5 |

| 3 | Rapid and Sparse Labeling of Neurons Based on the Mutant Virus-Like Particle of Semliki Forest Virus显示文摘Sparse labeling of neurons contributes to uncovering their morphology, and rapid expression of a fluorescent protein reduces the experiment range. To achieve the goal of rapid and sparse labeling of neurons in vivo, we established a rapid method for depicting the fine structure of neurons at 24 h post-infection based on a mutant viruslike particle of Semliki Forest virus. Approximately 0.014 fluorescent focus-forming units of the mutant virus-like particle transferred enhanced green fluorescent protein into neurons in vivo, and its affinity for neurons in vivo was stronger than for neurons in vitro and BHK21(baby hamster kidney) cells. Collectively, the mutant virus-likeparticle provides a robust and convenient way to reveal the fine structure of neurons and is expected to be a helper virus for combining with other tools to determine their connectivity. | 8 | Divergent responses of soil carbon and nitrogen pools to short-term nitrogen addition between two plantations in Northeast China显示文摘Nitrogen(N)deposition has a profound influence on forest soil carbon(C)and N pools,but there was no consensus on the responses of different C and N components in different forest types.In this study,a two-year simulated N deposition experiment with four levels of N(NH4NO3)-addition treatments(0,50,100,and 150 kg N/hm^(2)·a)were conducted in Larix gmelinii(LG)and Quercus mongolica(QM)plantation in Northeast China,in order to investigate the C and N pool dynamics under continuously enhanced N deposition.Soil organic carbon(SOC),soil total N(STN)and their active components(readily oxidizable C,ROC;dissolved organic C,DOC;microbial biomass C,MBC,dissolved organic N,DON;microbial biomass N,MBN)of the forest soil were measured monthly from May to October 2017.C and N contents in LG were observed higher than in QM.N addition had no effect on SOC and STN of LG,but significantly increased SOC and STN of QM at low N addition level.Low N addition generally raised active C components(ROC,DOC,and MBC)in both plantations,whereas high N addition did not significantly affect these components,or even decreased ROC in LG soil.Low N addition also increased STN and MBN of QM,while no significant change in STN and MBN of LG was observed.DON was directly affected by N addition and increased significantly with elevated N addition levels.The results indicated that N addition,especially of low rate,might enhance the C sequestration capacity of the forest soils and mitigate climate change. | Yedong Li Bo Wang Sen Dou Haoyue Shen Liyong Mei Yang Zhang Ximing Zeng Yaya Zhang Yameng Pei Haoye Ren Shimin Wu | 2019 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,6: | 1 |

| 10 | Surgical treatment for uncinate process carcinoma of the pancreas显示文摘Objectives: To analyze the clinical features of unci-nate process carcinoma of the pancreas and to im-prove the resection rate.Methods: From January 1990 to June 1999, 10 pa-tients with pancreas uncinate process carcinoma re-ceived Whipple’s operation. Portal vein (PV) resec-tion and reanastomosis were performed in 5 patients,and the resected length varied from 2.0 to 4.2 cm.Two patients underwent PV lateral wall partial resec-tion.Results: Among the 7 patients undergoing PV resec-tion, 1 died of hepatic failure 3 days after operation.One patient suffered from postoperative chylous asci-tes. These 6 patients survived 13 to 29 months post-operatively. Among the 3 patients without PV resec-tion, 2 survived 13 months and 14 months respective-ly. | 11 | Extended local resection for treatment of periampullary carcinoma of vater显示文摘BACKGROUND: The trauma caused by pancreatoduode- nectomy for periampullary carcinoma of vater is often se- vere and extensive. The purpose of this study was to eva- luate the effect of extended local resection in the treatment of periampullary carcinoma of vater. METHODS: The extra-hepaticobiliary tract, the confluence of the pancreatic and biliary duct, vater ampulla and duo- denal papilla were resected en bloc in 8 patients with peri- ampullary carcinoma from 1995 to 1998. RESULTS: One patient died perioperatively. Duodenal ob- struction developed postoperatively in one of 7 survived pa- tients and was relieved after reoperation. All the 7 patients were followed up for more than 6 months without recur- rence. | 15 | Feasibility and physics potential of detecting ^(8)B solar neutrinos at JUNO显示文摘The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO)features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector.Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for^8B solar neutrino measurements,such as its low-energy threshold,high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors,and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator detectors.In this paper,we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting^8B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process.A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable,assuming that the intrinsic radioactive background^(238)U and^(232)Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10^(-17)g/g.With ten years of data acquisition,approximately 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are expected.This large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter,which will shed new light on the inconsistency between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework.IfDelta m^(2)_(21)=4.8times10^(-5);(7.5times10^(-5))eV^(2),JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at approximately the 3sigma(2sigma)level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith angle.Moreover,JUNO can simultaneously measureDelta m^2_(21)using^8B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20% or better,depending on the central value,and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos.A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help understand the current mild inconsistency between the value of Delta m^2_(21)reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND experiment. | 16 | Biotransformation of quinoa phenolic compounds with Monascus anka to enhance the antioxidant capacity and digestive enzyme inhibitory activity显示文摘This research aims to change the phenolic fractions and the bioactivities of quinoa by solid-state fermentation(SSF)with the edible fungus Monascus anka(M.anka).The contents of protein and fat increased in the fermented product,while the carbohydrate decreased.After 6-day fermentation with M.anka,the amount of phenolic compound reached the highest level.The majority of phenolic forms in fermented quinoa were phenolic acids,mainly ferulic acid,protocatechuic acid and p-hydroxybenzoic acid.Ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry(UHPLC-MS)results showed that SSF was an effective method to transform quinoa phenolic compounds.Free fractions could be rapidly absorbed in the small intestine,suggesting that SSF with M.anka was a useful method to enhance bioavailable antioxidants.Antioxidant ability in vitro results showed that phenolic fractions from fermented quinoa were greater than the unfermented quinoa,and a significant cellular antioxidant activity(CAA)increment of 135%was obtained in the free phenolic fraction of fermented quinoa.Moreover,α-amylase andα-glucosidase inhibition activities were enhanced with fermentation.Correlation matrix analysis revealed that most of the free phenolic compounds showed strong positive correlations with antioxidant activities and digestive enzyme activities.Consequently,fermentation with M.anka was a particularly promising method to enhance the bioactivity of quinoa. | Pei Yang Kai Huang Yu Zhang Sen Li Hongwei Cao Hongdong Song Ying Zhang Xiao Guan | 2022 | Food Bioscience2022,46,2: | 0 |
| 17 | Assessing the spread risk of COVID-19 associated with multi-mode transportation networks in China显示文摘The spatial spread of COVID-19 during early 2020 in China was primarily driven by outbound travelers leaving the epicenter,Wuhan,Hubei province.Existing studies focus on the influence of aggregated out-bound population flows originating from Wuhan;however,the impacts of different modes of transportation and the network structure of transportation systems on the early spread of COVID-19 in China are not well understood.Here,we assess the roles of the road,railway,and air transportation networks in driving the spatial spread of COVID-19 in China.We find that the short-range spread within Hubei province was dominated by ground traffic,notably,the railway transportation.In contrast,long-range spread to cities in other provinces was mediated by multiple factors,including a higher risk of case importation associated with air transportation and a larger outbreak size in hub cities located at the center of transportation networks.We further show that,although the dissemination of SARS-CoV-2 across countries and continents is determined by the worldwide air transportation network,the early geographic dispersal of COVID-19 within China is better predicted by the railway traffic.Given the recent emergence of multiple more transmissible variants of SARS-CoV-2,our findings can support a better assessment of the spread risk of those variants and improve future pandemic preparedness and responses. | Xiao-Ke Xu Xiao Fan Liu Lin Wang Ye Wu Xin Lu Xianwen Wang Sen Pei | 2023 | Fundamental Research2023,3,2: | 0 |

The recombinant plasmid pDACx expressing antisense transcripts to c-myc fragment containing a part of intron 1 and 137 nt exon 2 was constructed. pDACx was transfected into HL-60 cell line by lipofectin reagent.Cytochemical stainings including NBT reduction, peroxidase and α -NAE as well as detection of CD13 and CD33 antigens by flow cytometric analysis indicated occurrence of myelomonocytic differentiation in cells expressing antisense transcripts to c-myc.
