| 3 | Programmable time-domain digital-coding metasurface for non-linear harmonic manipulation and new wireless communication systems显示文摘Optical non-linear phenomena are typically observed in natural materials interacting with light at high intensities, and they benefit a diverse range of applications from communication to sensing. However,controlling harmonic conversion with high efficiency and flexibility remains a major issue in modern optical and radio-frequency systems. Here, we introduce a dynamic time-domain digital-coding metasurface that enables efficient manipulation of spectral harmonic distribution. By dynamically modulating the local phase of the surface reflectivity, we achieve accurate control of different harmonics in a highly programmable and dynamic fashion, enabling unusual responses, such as velocity illusion. As a relevant application, we propose and realize a novel architecture for wireless communication systems based on the time-domain digital-coding metasurface, which largely simplifies the architecture of modern communication systems, at the same time yielding excellent performance for real-time signal transmission. | 4 | Influence of temperature and solution composition on the formation of calcium sulfates显示文摘Calcium sulfates (anhydrite and hydrates) were synthesized by mixing CaCl 2 and Na 2 SO 4 solutions at room temperature followed by aging the resulting slurries at elevated temperatures. The variation of the morphology and structure of the calcium sulfates with aging temperature was investigated. Experimental results indicated that CaSO 4 ·2H 2 O plates, CaSO 4 ·0.5H 2 O whiskers and CaSO 4 spindles were formed at ≤100 °C, 130–160 °C and ≥170 °C, respectively. The formation and conversion of the calcium sulfates were discussed on the basis of characterization of the products and chemical analysis of the solutions. | 9 | New progress in roles of nitric oxide during hepatic ischemia reperfusion injury显示文摘Hepatic ischemia reperfusion injury(HIRI) is a clinical condition which may lead to cellular injury and organ dysfunction. The role of nitric oxide(NO) in HIRI is complicated and inconclusive. NO produced by endothelial nitric oxide synthase(e NOS) activation plays a protective role during early HIRI. But e NOS overexpression and the resulting excessive NO bioavailability can aggravate liver injury. NO induced by inducible nitric oxide synthase(i NOS) may have either a protective or a deleterious effect during the early phase of HIRI, but it may protect the liver during late HIRI. Here, we reviewed the latest findings on the role of NO during HIRI:(1) NO exerts a protective effect against HIRI by increasing NO bioavailability, downregulating p53 gene expression, decreasing inflammatory chemokines, reducing ROS via inhibiting the mitochondrial respiratory chain, activating s GCGTP-c GMP signal pathway to reduce liver cell apoptosis, and regulating hepatic immune functions;(2) e NOS protects against HIRI by increasing NO levels, several e NOS/NO signal pathways(such as Akt-e NOS/NO, AMPK-e NOS/NO and HIF-1α-e NOS/NO) participating in the anti-HIRI process, and inhibiting over-expression of e NOS also protects against HIRI; and(3) the inhibition of i NOS prevents HIRI. | 12 | Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α induces the epithelial-mesenchymal transition of human prostatecancer cells显示文摘Background Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) is a transcriptional factor that could improve the stimulation of angiogenesis and the metabolic adaptation of tumor cells to hypoxia. A recent study showed that HIF-1α could induce colon cancer cells epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). However, no evidence indicates a similar correlation in human prostate cancer cells. This study was designed to evaluate the effect of HIF-1α over-expression on the EMT in human prostate cancer cells. Methods We selected the appropriate cell line for HIF-1α induction from those EMT negative prostate cell lines through vimentin gene detection by RT-PCR. As the result, LNCaP cell line is the best one for further experiment. LNCaP cells were transfected with recombinant plasmid pcDNA3.1(-)/HIF-1α and pcDNA3.1(-) control vector by Lipofectamine 2000 system. The positive cell colonies were confirmed by indirect immunofluorescence labeling. Then Transwell polycarbonate filter was used to analyze the invasive potency. The expression of EMT associated proteins, E-cadherin and vimentin, was detected by Western blotting. Results Among four of the EMT negative cell lines, LNCaP was the only one expressed the vimentin gene but not the associated protein. The expression level of HIF-1α in LNCaP/HIF-1α was distinctly higher than that in LNCaP/pcDNA3.1 and LNCaP. The cell numbers of LNCaP/HIF-1α that penetrated through the Transwell filter were higher than that of LNCaP/pcDNA3.1 and LNCaP. Compared with the LNCaP/pcDNA3.1 and LNCaP cells, the expression of vimentin was up-regulated in LNCaP/HIF-1α, whereas the expression of E-cadherin was down-regulated. Conclusions Over-expression of HIF-1α stimulates the invasion potency of human prostate carcinoma cells through EMT pathway. | 15 | Recognition of Palliative Care in Chinese Clinicians:How They Feel and What They Know显示文摘Objective To investigate doctors'feelings when providing medical care to end-stage patients,and their understanding as well as reflection about theoretical concepts of palliative medicine.Methods Questionnaires were delivered through a social networking platform to1500clinicians of different specialties in10proviences of China.It covered issues of background information,self-assessment of familiarity to palliative care,prior training history,emotional attitude toward end-stage patients,and the reflections on clinical practice.Logistic regression analysis and chi-square test were used to analyse the categorical variables.Results There were379clinicians who completed the questionnaires and submitted successfully.Among them,66.8%(253/379)had attended palliative care training courses more than twice;66.8%(253/379)clinicians percieved powerless feeling when facing end-stage patients.We found that the education on palliative medicine was significantly associated to doctors'better comprehension on the concept of palliative care(OR=6.923,P=0.002).Doctors who were more familiar with palliative medicine were less likely to perceive powerless feelings(χ^2=13.015,P<0.001),and would be more likely to concern about patients and their family members in their clinical work(χ^2=28.754,P<0.001,χ^2=24.406,P<0.001).Conclusion The powerless feeling is prevalent in Chinese doctors when facing end-stage patients.Palliative care help them overcome the negative feelings and act more caring in clinic.More careful designed educational strategies that adapt to Chinese actual situation are needed to improve doctors'cognition on palliative care. | Yirong Xiang Xiaohong Ning | 2018 | Chinese Medical Sciences Journal2018,33,4: | 9 |

We assumed that the mechanism of rutin in the repair of spinal cord injury is associated with the inhibition of p38 MAPK pathway. Allen's method was used to establish a rat model of spinal cord injury. The rat model was intraperitoneally injected with rutin(30 mg/kg) for 3 days. After treatment with rutin, Basso, Beattie and Bresnahan locomotor function scores increased. Water content, tumor necrosis factor alpha, interleukin 1 beta, and interleukin 6 levels, p38 MAPK protein expression and caspase-3 and-9 activities in T8–9 spinal cord decreased. Oxidative stress related markers superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase levels increased in peripheral blood. | 19 | Oscillation analysis of a DFIG-based wind farm interfaced with LCC-HVDC显示文摘With the increasing capacity of wind farm, HVDC technology has become a promising transmission scheme for long distance transportation of large-scale wind power. However oscillation caused by this system will have a great influence on the security and stability of power system operation. In this paper, the oscillation of a doubly-fed induction generator(DFIG)-based wind farm interfaced with line commutated converter(LCC) based HVDC is discussed. Low-frequency oscillation and subsynchronous oscillation(SSO) are studied since these two oscillations are the particularly concerned oscillations in the stability study of power system in recent years. The model of a DFIG-based wind farm interconnected with LCC-HVDC is developed. The impact of drive train model's structure and parameters on the oscillation characteristics is analyzed. Eigenvalue and participation factor analysis are used to identify the three main modes, which include controller mode, electromechanical mode, and shaft mode. The effects of DFIG controller's parameters, wind speed and operating conditions of HVDC on those modes are studied. | 20 | Reversible Histone H2B Monoubiquitination Fine-Tunes Abscisic Acid Signaling and Drought Response in Rice显示文摘Histone H2B monoubiquitination (H2Bub1) plays important roles in several physiological and developmental processes, but its roles in the regulation of plant stress responses remain elusive. Here, we report that H2Bub1 is crucially involved in abscisic acid (ABA) signaling and drought response in rice. We found that rice HISTONE MONOUBIQUITINATION2 (OsHUB2), an E3 ligase for H2Bub1, in teracted with OsbZIP46, a key transcription factor regulating ABA signaling and drought response in rice. Genetic analyses suggest that OsHUB2, upregulated by drought and ABA, positively modulates ABA sensitivity and drought resistance. The H2Bub1 levels were in creased in the target genes of OsbZIP46 under the drought stress and ABA treat- merits, which were positively correlated with their increased expression levels. Interestingly, MODD, a reported suppressor of ABA signaling and drought resistance by mediating OsbZIP46 deactivation and degradation, could reduce the H2Bub1 levels in the target genes of OsbZIP46 by recruiting a putative deubiquitinase OsOTLD1 . Suppression of OsOTLD1in vivo resulted in increased H2Bub1 levels and expression of OsbZIP46 target genes.
