1Fabrication of corrosion-resistant superhydrophobic coating on magnesium alloy by one-step electrodeposition method显示文摘A one-step electrodeposition method was used to construct a superhydrophobic coating on the surface of magnesium alloy.Using magne-sium nitrate and ethanol solution of stearic acid as electrolyte,four groups of electrolytes with different ratios of stearic acid and magnesium nitrate were designed to explore the influence of electrolyte to the process.The contact angles of the four coating samples were 136.4±5.8°,152.7±2.8°,156.2±4.9°and 155.1±4.4°The addition of magnesium nitrate in the solution increased the hydrogen evolution reaction in the electrodeposition process,which was not conducive to electrodeposition process.During the deposition process,the sample prepared in a molar ratio of stearic acid to magnesium nitrate of 10:1 had the best corrosion resistance,and its corrosion circuit density was 3.74×10^(−8)A/cm^(2),far lower than the corrosion current density of the magnesium alloy substrate.Tianxu Zheng Yaobo Hu Fusheng Pan Yuxin Zhang Aitao Tang 2019Journal of Magnesium and Alloys2019,7,2:26
2Melatonin alleviates intervertebral disc degeneration by disrupting the IL-1β/NF-κB-NLRP3 inflammasome positive feedback loop显示文摘The inflammatory response is induced by the overexpression of inflammatory cytokines, mainly interleukin(IL)-1β, and is one of the main causes of intervertebral disc degeneration(IVDD). NLR pyrin domain containing 3(NLRP3) inflammasome activation is an important source of IL-1β. As an anti-inflammatory neuroendocrine hormone, melatonin plays various roles in different pathophysiological conditions. However, its roles in IVDD are still not well understood and require more examination. First, we demonstrated that melatonin delayed the progression of IVDD and relieved IVDD-related low back pain in a rat needle puncture IVDD model;moreover, NLRP3 inflammasome activation(NLRP3, p20, and IL-1β levels) was significantly upregulated in severely degenerated human discs and a rat IVDD model. Subsequently, an IL-1β/NF-κB-NLRP3 inflammasome activation positive feedback loop was found in nucleus pulposus(NP) cells that were treated with IL-1β. In these cells, expression of NLRP3 and p20 was significantly increased, NF-κB signaling was involved in this regulation, and mitochondrial reactive oxygen species(mt ROS)production increased. Furthermore, we found that melatonin disrupted the IL-1β/NF-κB-NLRP3 inflammasome activation positive feedback loop in vitro and in vivo. Melatonin treatment decreased NLRP3, p20, and IL-1β levels by inhibiting NF-κB signaling and downregulating mt ROS production. Finally, we showed that melatonin mediated the disruption of the positive feedback loop of IL-1β in vivo. In this study, we showed for the first time that IL-1β promotes its own expression by upregulating NLRP3 inflammasome activation. 3Solar influenced late Holocene temperature changes on the northern Tibetan Plateau显示文摘Considerable efforts have been made to extend temperature records beyond the instrumental period through proxy reconstructions,in order to further understand the mechanisms of past climate variability.Yet,the global coverage of existing temperature records is still limited,especially for some key regions like the Tibetan Plateau and for earlier times including the Medieval Warm Period(MWP).Here we present decadally-resolved,alkenone-based,temperature records from two lakes on the northern Tibetan Plateau.Characterized by marked temperature variability,our records provide evidence that temperatures during the MWP were slightly higher than the modern period in this region.Further,our temperature reconstructions,within age uncertainty,can be well correlated with solar irradiance changes,suggesting a possible link between solar forcing and natural climate variability,at least on the northern Tibetan Plateau.HE YuXin LIU WeiGuo ZHAO Cheng WANG Zheng WANG HuanYe LIU Yi QIN XianYan HU QiHou AN ZhiSheng LIU ZhongHui 2013Chinese Science Bulletin2013,58,9:11

6Elevated Neurosteroids in the Lateral Thalamus Relieve Neuropathic Pain in Rats with Spared Nerve Injury显示文摘Neurosteroids are synthesized in the nervous system from cholesterol or steroidal precursors imported from peripheral sources. These compounds are important allosteric modulators of c-aminobutyric acid A receptors(GABA_ARs), which play a vital role in pain modulation in the lateral thalamus, a main gate where somatosensory information enters the cerebral cortex. Using high-performance liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry,we found increased levels of neurosteroids(pregnenolone,progesterone, deoxycorticosterone, allopregnanolone, and tetrahydrodeoxycorticosterone) in the chronic stage of neuropathic pain(28 days after spared nerve injury) in rats.The expression of the translocator protein TSPO, the upstream steroidogenesis rate-limiting enzyme, increased at the same time. In vivo stereotaxic microinjection of neurosteroids or the TSPO activator AC-5216 into the lateral thalamus(AP-3.0 mm, ML ±3.0 mm, DV 6.0 mm)alleviated the mechanical allodynia in neuropathic pain,while the TSPO inhibitor PK 11195 exacerbated it. The analgesic effects of AC-5216 and neurosteroids were significantly attenuated by the GABA_AR antagonist bicuculline. 7The Effect of 2,5-hexanedione on Myelin Protein Zero Expression,and Its Mitigation Using Ginkgo Biloba Extract显示文摘Objective To investigate the role of myelin protein zero (P 0) in 2,5-hexanedione (2,5-HD)-induced peripheral nerve injury,and the protective effect of Ginkgo biloba extract (Egb761) on 2,5-HD-induced toxic peripheral neuropathy.Methods After 4 weeks of treatment with 2,5-HD at different doses (50,100,200,400 mg/kg) in rats,changes in the levels of P 0 in rat sciatic nerves was investigated,and the effect of Egb761 on 2,5-HD-induced toxic peripheral neuropathy was studied.Results The blood-nerve barrier (BNB) permeability of the sciatic nerve increased,and the expression of P 0 mRNA and P 0 protein decreased in a dose-dependent manner after treatment with 2,5-HD for 4 weeks.Pretreatment with Egb761 protected against BNB interruption,and inhibited P 0 mRNA and protein reduction during 2,5-HD treatment.Pretreatment with Egb761 significantly reduced loss of body weight (P<0.01) and mitigated gait abnormalities (2.85±0.22) induced by 400 mg/kg 2,5-HD (P<0.01).It also reduced the signs of neurotoxicity induced by 2,5-HD.Conclusion 2,5-HD inhibited the expression of P 0 in a dose-dependent manner,and this may be an important mechanism by which toxic peripheral neuropathy is induced by 2,5-HD.Egb761 has a protective effect against 2,5-HD-induced peripheral neurotoxicity in rats.ZHAO Lei LIU QingJun CHEN Hong DUAN HuaWei BIN Ping LIU Qing NIU Yong DAI YuFei ZHENG YuXin 2011Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2011,24,4:3
8Au nanowires with high aspect ratio and atomic shell of Pt-Ru alloy for enhanced methanol oxidation reaction显示文摘The methanol oxidation reaction(MOR)is the limiting half-reaction in direct methanol fuel cell(DMFC).Although Pt is the most active single-metal electrocatalyst for MOR,it is hampered by high cost and CO poisoning.Constructing a Pt or Ru monolayer on a second metal substrate by means of galvanic replacement of underpotentially deposited(UPD)Cu monolayer has been shown as an efficient catalyst design strategy for the electrocatalysis of MOR because of the presumed 100%utilization of atoms and resistance to CO poisoning.Herein,we prepared one-dimensional surface-alloyed electrocatalyst from predominantly(111)faceted Au nanowires with high aspect ratio as the substrate of under-potential deposition.The electrocatalyst comprises a core of the Au nanowire and a shell of catalytically active Pt coated by Ru.Coverage-dependent electro-catalytic activity and stability is demonstrated on the Pt/Ru submonolayers on Au wires for MOR.Among all these catalysts,Au@Pt_(ML)@Ru_(ML)exhibits the best electrocatalytic activity and poisoning tolerance to CO.This presents a viable method for the rational catalyst design for achieving high noble-metal utilization efficiency and high catalytic performance.Xiran Zhu Zheng Hu Ming Huang Yuxin Zhao Jianqiang Qu Shi Hu 2021Chinese Chemical Letters2021,32,6:3

10Research and Applications of Semi-solid Processing显示文摘It has been more than ten years since the semi-solid processing (SSP) technique was put into commercial applications in the world. A lot of work on semi-solid metals (SSM) including their preparation, reheating and semi-solid forming has been done in China. In order to produce the high quality die-casting, a novel innovation that modifies the present machines based on the SSP technique was proposed. Semi-solid die-casting on modified casting machines can manufacture parts with more excellent quality than those produced by squeeze casting. It was found that the defects such as 'elephant foot' and 'periphery liquid metal loss' during reheating could be avoided through controlling the non-de- ndritic sthectgre of billets and optimizing the reheating process. 11Unusual coastal ocean cooling in the northern South China Sea by a katabatic cold jet associated with Typhoon Mujigea(2015)显示文摘This study deals with a unusual cooling event after Typhoon Mujigea passed over the northern South China Sea(SCS) in October 2015. We analyze the satellite sea surface temperature(SST) time series from October 3 to 18,2015 and find that the cooling process in the coastal ocean had two different stages. The first stage occurred immediately after typhoon passage on October 3, and reached a maximum SST drop of –2℃ on October 7 as the usual cold wake after typhoon. The second stage or the unusual extended cooling event occurred after 7d of the typhoon passage, and lasted for 5d from October 10 to 15. The maximum SST cooling was –4℃ and occurred after 12d of typhoon passage. The mechanism analysis results indicate that after landing and moving northwestward to the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau(YGP), Typhoon Mujigea(2015) met the westerly wind front on October 5. The lowpressure and positive-vorticity disturbances to the front triggered meridional air flow and low-pressure trough,thus induced a katabatic cold jet downward from the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau(QTP) passing through the YGP to the northwestern SCS. The second cooling reached the maximum SST drop 4d later after the maximum air temperature drop of –9℃ on October 11. 12Emerging biotechnology applications in natural product and synthetic pharmaceutical analyses显示文摘Pharmaceutical analysis is a discipline based on chemical, physical, biological, and information technologies. At present, biotechnological analysis is a short branch in pharmaceutical analysis;however, bioanalysis is the basis and an important part of medicine. Biotechnological approaches can provide information on biological activity and even clinical efficacy and safety, which are important characteristics of drug quality. Because of their advantages in reflecting the overall biological effects or functions of drugs and providing visual and intuitive results, some biotechnological analysis methods have been gradually applied to pharmaceutical analysis from raw material to manufacturing and final product analysis,including DNA super-barcoding, DNA-based rapid detection, multiplex ligation-dependent probe amplification, hyperspectral imaging combined with artificial intelligence, 3D biologically printed organoids,omics-based artificial intelligence, microfluidic chips, organ-on-a-chip, signal transduction pathwayrelated reporter gene assays, and the zebrafish thrombosis model. 13Functional Connectivity-Based Modelling Simulates SubjectSpecific Network Spreading Effects of Focal Brain Stimulation显示文摘Neurostimulation remarkably alleviates the symptoms in a variety of brain disorders by modulating the brain-wide network. However, how brain-wide effects on the direct and indirect pathways evoked by focal neurostimulation elicit therapeutic effects in an individual patient is unknown. Understanding this remains crucial for advancing neural circuit-based guidance to optimize candidate patient screening, pre-surgical target selection, and post-surgical parameter tuning. To address this issue, we propose a functional brain connectome-based modeling approach that simulates the spreading effects of stimulating different brain regions and quantifies the rectification of abnormal network topology in silico. We validated these analyses by pinpointing nuclei in the basal ganglia circuits as top-ranked targets for 43 local patients with Parkinson's disease and 90 patients from a public database. Individual connectome-based analysis demonstrated that the globus pallidus was the best choice for 21.1% and the subthalamic nucleus for 19.5% of patients. Down-regulation of functional connectivity(up to 12%) at these prioritized targets optimally maximized the therapeutic effects. Notably, the priority rank of the subthalamic nucleus significantly correlated with motor symptom severity(Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale III) in the local cohort. 15Forty-five terawatt vortex ultrashort laser pulses from a chirped-pulse amplification system显示文摘We report on a vortex laser chirped-pulse amplification(CPA)system that delivers pulses with a peak power of 45 TW.A focused intensity exceeding 1019 W/cm2 has been demonstrated for the first time by the vortex amplification scheme.Compared with other schemes of strong-field vortex generation with high energy flux but narrowband vortex-converting elements at the end of the laser,an important advantage of our scheme is that we can use a broadband but size-limited q-plate to realize broadband mode-converting in the front end of the CPA system,and achieve high-power amplification with a series of amplifiers.This method is low cost and can be easily implemented in an existing laser system.The results have verified the feasibility to obtain terawatt and even petawatt vortex laser amplification by a CPA system,which has important potential applications in strong-field laser physics,for example,generation of vortex particle beams with orbital angular momentum,fast ignition for inertial confinement fusion and simulation of the extreme astrophysical environment.Zhenkuan Chen Shuiqin Zheng Xiaoming Lu Xinliang Wang Yi Cai Congying Wang Maijie Zheng Yuexia Ai Yuxin Leng Shixiang Xu Dianyuan Fan 2022High Power Laser Science and Engineering2022,10,5:1

17Multichannel Lanthanide-Doped Nanoprobes Improve Diagnostic Performance显示文摘CONSPECTUS:Diagnostics are vital in healthcare services because of their ability to reveal disease occurrence and evaluate therapeutic performance.Recent advances in nanoprobes have revolutionized the diagnostics field.These nanoprobes typically contain one or more signal channels;thereby,they are able to quantify chemical signals or locate spatial indicators upon signal collection.It is noteworthy that multichannel nanoprobes have more merits than conventional single-channel ones,which has recently attracted significant interest.A benefit of this approach is that multiple signals will generate more information in one single test,which avoids omitting details and reduces the risk of false results.Additionally,multiple signals give more instrumentation options to operators,which allows diagnostics in broad clinical conditions.As a result,multichannel nanoprobes are ideal tools to increase diagnostic performance.Due to the specific 4f electrons,lanthanide ions have simultaneous and extraordinary electric,optical,and magnetic capacities.Therefore,lanthanide-doped nanomaterials are advanced candidates for fabricating multichannel nanoprobes and hence are favorable for biological and medical studies.In this Account,we highlight recent progress in designing multichannel lanthanide-doped nanoprobes to improve biomolecule detection and diagnostic performance with a particular focus on our own work.First,we present a brief overview on the type of signals that are available for constructing multichannel nanoprobes.The principles and merits of each signal are highlighted.Then,we summarize the general strategies of integrating multiple types of signals into one nanoprobe.Using this strategy,we have fabricated a series of multichannel lanthanide-doped nanoprobes and have explored their potential to improve diagnostic precision from different aspects.Finally,we propose an outlook on future development and possible issues of next-generation lanthanidedoped nanoprobes with multiple signal channels.We hope this timely account can update our understanding of multifunctional nanoprobes in medicine and provide some helpful references for the state-of-art diagnostic protocols with outstanding performance.Yuxin Liu Zheng Wei Xianquan Liao Jing Zhou 2020Accounts of Materials Research2020,1,3:1
