1Erianin,a novel dibenzyl compound in Dendrobium extract,inhibits lung cancer cell growth and migration via calcium/calmodulin-dependent ferroptosis显示文摘Ferroptosis,a novel form of programmed cell death,is characterized by iron-dependent lipid peroxidation and has been shown to be involved in multiple diseases,including cancer.Stimulating ferroptosis in cancer cells may be a potential strategy for cancer therapy.Therefore,ferroptosis-inducing drugs are attracting more attention for cancer treatment.Here,we showed that erianin,a natural product isolated from Dendrobium chrysotoxum Lindl,exerted its anticancer activity by inducing cell death and inhibiting cell migration in lung cancer cells.Subsequently,we demonstrated for the first time that erianin induced ferroptotic cell death in lung cancer cells,which was accompanied by ROS accumulation,lipid peroxidation,and GSH depletion.The ferroptosis inhibitors Fer-1 and Lip-1 but not Z-VAD-FMK,CQ,or necrostatin-1 rescued erianin-induced cell death,indicating that ferroptosis contributed to erianin-induced cell death.Furthermore,we demonstrated that Ca^(2+)/CaM signaling was a critical mediator of erianin-induced ferroptosis and that blockade of this signaling significantly rescued cell death induced by erianin treatment by suppressing ferroptosis.Taken together,our data suggest that the natural product erianin exerts its anticancer effects by inducing Ca^(2+)/CaMdependent ferroptosis and inhibiting cell migration,and erianin will hopefully serve as a prospective compound for lung cancer treatment.Peng Chen Qibiao Wu Jiao Feng Lili Yan Yitian Sun Shuiping Liu Yu Xiang Mingming Zhang Ting Pan Xiaying Chen Ting Duan Lijuan Zhai Bingtao Zhai Wengang Wang Ruonan Zhang Bi Chen Xuemeng Han Yicong Li Liuxi Chen Ying Liu Xingxing Huang Ting Jin Wenzheng Zhang Hong Luo Xiaohui Chen Yongqiang Li Qiujie Li Guohua Li Qin Zhang Lvjia Zhuo Zuyi Yang Huifen Tang Tian Xie Xiaoping Ouyang Xinbing Sui 2020Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2020,5,1:42

3Simultaneous virus identification and characterization of severe unexplained pneumonia cases using a metagenomics sequencing technique显示文摘Many viruses can cause respiratory diseases in humans.Although great advances have been achieved in methods of diagnosis,it remains challenging to identify pathogens in unexplained pneumonia(UP) cases.In this study,we applied next-generation sequencing(NGS) technology and a metagenomic approach to detect and characterize respiratory viruses in UP cases from Guizhou Province,China.A total of 33 oropharyngeal swabs were obtained from hospitalized UP patients and subjected to NGS.An unbiased metagenomic analysis pipeline identified 13 virus species in 16 samples.Human rhinovirus C was the virus most frequently detected and was identified in seven samples.Human measles virus,adenovirus B 55 and coxsackievirus A10 were also identified.Metagenomic sequencing also provided virus genomic sequences,which enabled genotype characterization and phylogenetic analysis.For cases of multiple infection,metagenomic sequencing afforded information regarding the quantity of each virus in the sample,which could be used to evaluate each viruses' role in the disease.Our study highlights the potential of metagenomic sequencing for pathogen identification in UP cases.Xiaohui Zou Guangpeng Tang Xiang Zhao Yan Huang Tao Chen Mingyu Lei Wenbing Chen Lei Yang Wenfei Zhu Li Zhuang Jing Yang Zhaomin Feng Dayan Wang Dingming Wang Yuelong Shu 2017Science China(Life Sciences)2017,60,3:14

7The long-term variability of sea surface temperature in the seas east of China in the past 40 a显示文摘The global surface temperature change since the mid-19th century has caused general concern and intensive study.However,long-term changes in the marginal seas,including the seas east of China,are not well understood because long-term observations are sparse and,even when they exist,they are over limited areas.Preliminary results on the long-term variability of sea surface temperature(SST) in summer and winter in the seas east of China during the period of 1957-2001 are reported using the Ocean Science Database of Institute of Oceanology,Chinese Academy of Sciences,the coastal hydrological station in situ and satellite data.The results show well-defined warming trends in the study area.However warming and cooling trends vary from decade to decade,with steady and rapid warming trends after the 1980s and complicated spatial patterns.The distribution of SST variation is intricate and more blurred in the areas far away from the Kuroshio system.Both historical and satellite data sets show significant warming trends after 1985.The warming trends are larger and spread to wider areas in winter than in summer,which means decrease in the seasonal cycle of SST probably linked with recently observed increase of the tropical zooplankton species in the region.Spatial structures of the SST trends are roughly consistent with the circulation pattern especially in winter when the meridional SST gradients are larger,suggesting that a horizontal advection may play an important role in the long-term SST variability in winter.WANG Fan MENG Qingjia TANG Xiaohui HU Dunxin 2013Acta Oceanologica Sinica2013,32,3:9

9Dynamically controlling terahertz wavefronts with cascaded metasurfaces显示文摘Dynamically controlling terahertz(THz)wavefronts in a designable fashion is highly desired in practice.However,available methods working at microwave frequencies do not work well in the THz regime due to lacking suitable tunable elements with submicrometer sizes.Here,instead of locally controlling individual meta-atoms in a THz metasurface,we show that rotating different layers(each exhibiting a particular phase profile)in a cascaded metadevice at different speeds can dynamically change the effective Jonesmatrix property of the whole device,thus enabling extraordinary manipulations on the wavefront and polarization characteristics of a THz beam impinging on the device.After illustrating our strategy based on model calculations,we experimentally demonstrate two proof-of-concept metadevices,each consisting of two carefully designed all-silicon transmissive metasurfaces exhibiting different phase profiles.Rotating two metasurfaces inside the fabricated devices at different speeds,we experimentally demonstrate that the first metadevice can efficiently redirect a normally incident THz beam to scan over a wide solid-angle range,while the second one can dynamically manipulate both the wavefront and polarization of a THz beam.Our results pave the way to achieving dynamic control of THz beams,which is useful in many applications,such as THz radar,and bio-and chemical sensing and imaging.Xiaodong Cai Rong Tang Haoyang Zhou Qiushi Li Shaojie Ma Dongyi Wang Tong Liu Xiaohui Ling Wei Tan Qiong He Shiyi Xiao Lei Zhou 2021Advanced Photonics2021,3,3:8

15Parallel selection of distinct Tof5 alleles drove the adaptation of cultivated and wild soybean to high latitudes显示文摘Photoperiod responsiveness is a key factor limiting the geographic distribution of cultivated soybean and its wild ancestor.In particular,the genetic basis of the adaptation in wild soybean remains poorly understood.In this study,by combining whole-genome resequencing and genome-wide association studies we identified a novel locus,Time of Flowering 5(Tof5),which promotes flowering and enhances adaptation to high latitudes in both wild and cultivated soybean.By genomic,genetic and transgenic analyses we showed that Tof5 en-codes a homolog of Arabidopsis thaliana FRUITFULL(FUL).Importantly,further analyses suggested that different alleles of Tof5 have undergone parallel selection.The Tof5H1 allele was strongly selected by humans after the early domestication of cultivated soybean,while Tof5H2 allele was naturally selected in wild soybean,and in each case facilitating adaptation to high latitudes.Moreover,we found that the key flowering repressor E1 suppresses the transcription of Tof5 by binding to its promoter.In turn,Tof5 physically associates with the promoters of two important FLOWERING LOCUS T(FT),FT2a and FT5a,to upregulate their transcription and promote flowering under long photoperiods.Collectively,ourfindings provide insights into how wild soybean adapted to high latitudes through natural selection and indicate that cultivated soybean underwent changes in the same gene but evolved a distinct allele that was artificially selected after domestication.Lidong Dong Qun Cheng Chao Fang Lingping Kong Hui Yang Zhihong Hou Yongli Li Haiyang Nan Yuhang Zhang Qingshan Chen Chunbao Zhang Kun Kou Tong Su Lingshuang Wang Shichen Li Haiyang Li Xiaoya Lin Yang Tang Xiaohui Zhao Sijia Lu Baohui Liu Fanjiang Kong 2022Molecular Plant2022,15,2:5

18Syntenic quantitative trait loci and genomic divergence for Sclerotinia resistance and ?owering time in Brassica napus显示文摘Oilseed rape(Brassica napus) is an allotetraploid with two subgenomes descended from a common ancestor. Accordingly, its genome contains syntenic regions with many duplicate genes, some of which may have retained their original functions, whereas others may have diverged. Here, we mapped quantitative trait loci(QTL) for stem rot resistance(SRR), a disease caused by the fungus Sclerotinia sclerotiorum, and flowering time(FT) in a recombinant inbred line population. The population was genotyped using B.napus 60 K single nucleotide polymorphism arrays and phenotyped in six(FT) and nine(SSR) experimental conditions or environments. In total, we detected 30 SRR QTL and 22 FT QTL and show that some of the major QTL associated with these two traits were co-localized,suggesting a genetic linkage between them. Two SRR QTL on chromosome A2 and two on chromosome C2 were shown to be syntenic, suggesting the functional conservation of these regions. We used the syntenic properties of the genomic regions to exclude genes for selection candidates responsible for QTL-associated traits. For example, 152 of the 185 genes could be excluded from a syntenic A2–C2 region. 19Comparison of the clinical outcomes of hematologic malignancies after myeloablative haploidentical transplantation with G-CSF/ATG and posttransplant cyclophosphamide:results from the Chinese Bone Marrow Transplantation Registry Group(CBMTRG)显示文摘This study compared G-CSF/ATG and PTCy in myeloablative haploidentical hematopoietic stem cell transplantation(haploHSCT)for hematologic malignancies between January 2013 and March 2018 reporting to the Chinese Bone Marrow Transplantation Registry Group(CBMTRG).For each PTCy,G-CSF/ATG subjects(1:4)were selected using the nested case-pair method.In total,220 patients including 176 in G-CSF/ATG group and 44 in PTCy group were analyzed.The incidences of 30-day neutrophil engraftment(88.6%vs.96.6%,P=0.001),90-day platelet engraftment(84.1%vs.94.2%,P=0.04),the median time to neutrophil engraftment(17 days vs.12 days,P=0.000)and platelet engraftment(22 days vs.17 days,P=0.001)were significantly inferior in PTCy group.The incidences of grades 2–4 and 3–4 acute graft-versus-host disease(GVHD),chronic GVHD and severe chronic GVHD were comparable.Among G-CSF/ATG and PTCy groups,the 3-year progression-free survival,overall survival,cumulative incidences of nonrelapse mortality and relapse was 74.3%vs.61%(P=0.045),78.3%vs.65.2%(P=0.039),12%vs.27.3%(P=0.008),and 14.9%vs.11.7%(P=0.61),respectively.G-CSF/ATG can achieve better engraftment,PFS and OS,and lower incidence of NRM compared to PTCy in myeloablative haplo-HSCT for hematologic malignancies.Feifei Tang Yajing Xu Huiren Chen Lanping Xu Xiaohui Zhang Yu Wang Qifa Liu Depei Wu Xiaojun Huang 2020Science China(Life Sciences)2020,63,4:3
