Effect of Sancaijiangtang on plasma nitric oxide and endothelin-1 levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and vascular dementia:a single-blind randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of Sancaijiangtang powders on plasma nitric oxide and endothelin-1 levels. We sought to identify the common pathological link and mechanism of action for Traditional Chinese medicine in type 2 diabetes mellitus and vascular dementia, and to explicate the material basis for treating the different diseases with the same method in Traditional Chinese Medicine.METHODS: In total,168 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and vascular dementia were enrolled in the study, and randomly divided into two groups by simple randomization. Patients in the treatment group received oral Sancaijiangtang powders with pioglitazone hydrochloride three times daily, while patients in the control group received pioglitazone hydrochloride alone. The treatment course was for12 weeks. Mini-mental state examinations(Chinese version) and Montreal Cognitive Assessments(Beijing version) were performed, and fasting plasma glucose, fasting insulin, hemoglobin A1 c,homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance, plasma nitric oxide and endothelin-1 levels were measured before and after the treatment.RESULTS: The post-treatment levels for all measurements in both groups were better than pre-treatment levels(P < 0.05). The post-treatment levels for all measurements in the treatment group were better than the levels measured in the control group(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: Type 2 diabetes mellitus and vascular dementia have common pathological mechanisms for insulin resistance and endothelium dysfunction. Sancaijiangtang powders could improve the release of nitric oxide and inhibit the secretion of endothelin-1. Therefore, the material basis exists for treating the different diseases with the same method in Traditional Chinese Medicine. | Guo Qiang Cao Wenzhai Zhao Huan Zhu Yuxia Yang Dongdong Zhong Sen Chen Qiu | 2015 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,4: | 24
Effectiveness of Different Waist Circumference Cut-off Values in Predicting Metabolic Syndrome Prevalence and Risk Factors in Adults in China显示文摘Objective To study the effectiveness of waist circumference cut-off values in predicting the prevalence of metabolic syndrome(MetS) and risk factors in adults in China. Methods A cross-sectional survey was condcuted in 14 provinces(autonomous region, municipality) in China. A total of 47 325 adults aged ≥20 years were selected by multistage stratified sampling, and questionnaire survey and physical and clinical examination were conducted among them. MetS was defined according to the International Diabetes Federation(IDF) criteria and modified IDF criteria. Results The age-standardized prevalence of MetS was 24.2%(22.1% in men and 25.8% in women) and 19.5%(22.1% in men and 18.0% in women) according to the IDF criteria and modified IDF criteria respectively. The age-standardized prevalence of pre-MetS was 8.1%(8.6% in men and 7.8% in women) according to the modified IDF criteria. The prevalence of MetS was higher in urban residents than rural residents and in northern China residents than in southern China residents. The prevalence of central obesity was about 30% in both men and women according to the ethnicity-specific cut-off values of waist circumference for central obesity(90 cm for men and 85 cm for women). Multivariate regression analysis revealed no significant difference in risk factors between the two MetS definitions. Conclusion Using both the modified IDF criteria and ethnicity-specific cut-off values of waist circumference can provide more useful information about the prevalence of MetS in China. | ZHOU Hai Cheng LAI Ya Xin SHAN Zhong Yan JIA Wei Ping YANG Wen Ying LU Ju Ming WENG Jian Ping JI Li Nong LIU Jie TIAN Hao Ming JI Qiu He ZHU Da Long CHEN Li GUO Xiao Hui ZHAO Zhi Gang Li Qiang ZHOU Zhi Guang GE Jia Pu SHAN Guang Liang | 2014 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2014,27,5: | 17

Toll-like receptor 10 (TLR10) exhibits suppressive effects on inflammation of prostate epithelial cells显示文摘Prostate inflammation (PI) is closely related to the development and progression of chronic prostatic diseases: benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer. Toll-like receptor (TLR) 2 has been reported to be associated with inflammatory diseases, such as infections, autoimmune diseases, and cancers. Meanwhile, TLR10, which can form heterodimers with TLR2, has been considered an orphan receptor without an exact function. The present study therefore aims to examine the effects of TLR2 and TLR10 on PI. Prostate samples and clinical data were obtained from the patients diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia. The inflammatory cell model was established by adding lipopolysaccharide to RWPE-1 cells. Prostate tissues/cells were examined by histological, molecular, and biochemical approaches. Both TLR2 and TLR10 were found to be expressed in prostate tissues and RWPE-1 cells. mRNA/protein expression levels of TLR2 and TLR10 were both positively correlated with prostate tissue inflammatory grades. Lipopolysaccharide-stimulated RWPE-1 cells expressed higher levels of TLR2, TLR10, high mobility group box 1 (HMGB1), phosphonuclear factor kappa-light-chain-enhancer of activated B-cells P65 (phospho-NF-κB P65), interleukin (IL)-6, and IL-8 than control cells. Moreover, HMGB1, phospho-NF-κB P65, IL-6, and IL-8 were down regulated after TLR2 knockdown and upregulated after TLR10 knockdown in RWPE-1 cells. TLR2 stimulation can activate the inflammatory signaling cascade in prostate epithelial cells. Conversely, TLR10 exhibited suppressive effects on inflammation. With antagonistic functions, both TLR2 and TLR10 were invoIved in PI. TLR10 could be a novel target in modulating inflammatory signal transduction of prostate epithelial cells. | Yu Fan Lu Yang Qiang Wei Yu Ding Zhuang Tang Ping Tan Tao Lin Duan Guo Shi Qiu | 2019 | Asian Journal of Andrology2019,21,4: | 9
Survival and prognostic factors of non-small cell lung cancer patients with postoperative locoregional recurrence treated with radical radiotherapy显示文摘Background: Locoregional recurrence remains the challenge for long-term survival of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC) patients after radical surgery, and curative-intent radiotherapy could be a treatment choice. This study aimed to assess the survival and prognostic factors of patients with postoperative locoregionally recurrent NSCLC treated with radical radiotherapy. Methods: We reviewed medical records of 74 NSCLC patients with postoperative locoregional recurrence who received radical radiotherapy between April 2012 and February 2016 at Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center(Guangzhou, China). The efficacy and safety of radical radiotherapy were analyzed. The probability of survival was estimated using the Kaplan-Meier method and compared using the log-rank test. The Cox proportional hazards model was used to identify prognostic factors. Results: Grade 3/4 adverse events included neutropenia(8 cases, 10.8%), esophagitis(7 cases, 9.5%), pneumonitis(1 case, 1.4%), and vomiting(1 case, 1.4%).The 2-year overall survival, progression-free survival, local recurrencefree survival(LRFS), and distant metastasis-free survival(DMFS) rates of all patients were 84.2,42.5,70.0, and 50.9%,respectively. Univariate and multivariate analyses showed that a higher biological effective dose(BED) of radiation was associated with longer LRFS [hazard ratios(HR)=0.317,95% confidence interval(CI) = 0.112-0.899, P = 0.016] and that wild-type epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) was associated with longer DMFS compared with EGFR mutation(HR = 0.383,95% CI=0.171-0.855, P = 0.019).Conclusions: Radical radiotherapy is effective and well-tolerated in NSCLC patients with postoperative locoregional recurrence. High BED is a predictor for long LRFS, and the presence of wild-type EGFR is a predictor for long DMFS. | Li Ma Bo Qiu Jun Zhang Qi-Wen Li Bin Wang Xu-Hui Zhang Meng-Yun Qiang Zhao-Lin Chen Su-Ping Guo Hui Liu | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Cancer2017,36,11: | 8

They were randomly divided into the Sancai powder group and the metformin group(1500 mg/day). The follow-up period was for 12 weeks. Comparisons of several variables were analyzed.RESULTS: No significant differences were found between the two groups in hemoglobin A1c(Hb A1c),fasting plasma glucose(FPG) and 2 h post-meal glucose(2h PG), although they had decreased significantly(P < 0.01). Homeostasis model assessment of beta cell function index was significantly improved in Sancai powder group(P < 0.01), and there were significant differences in the changes of homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance and insulin sensitivity index in the two groups(P < 0.05). Sancai powder significantly reduced triglyceride level(P < 0.05), although there was no significant difference in the body weight and body mass index in the two groups.CONCLUSION: In this 12-week study, Sancai powder could significantly reduce hemoglobin A1 c,FPG and 2h PG levels, improved beta-cell function and insulin resistance of the T2 DM inadequately controlled with metformin. | Guo Qiang Zhang Hengyao Li Mindian Zhao Ziyi Luo Yunlin Luo Yulei Cao Wenzhai Zhao Huan Zhu Ranran Lei Xingxing Chen Huizhen Gan Huakui Zuo Zhihuang Chen Qi Shi Cuimei Zhang Xinli Guo Jian Zhong Sen Chen Qiu | 2016 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,5: | 1 |
Status of the IHEP 1.3 GHz superconducting RF program显示文摘The 1.3 GHz superconducting radio-frequency (SRF) technology is one of the key technologies for the ILC and future XFEL and ERL projects in China. With the aim to develop 1.3 GHz SRF technology, IHEP has started a program to build an SRF Accelerating Unit. This unit contains a 9-cell 1.3 GHz superconducting cavity, a short cryomodule, a high power input coupler, a tuner and a low level RF system. This program also includes the SRF laboratory upgrade, which will permit the unit to be built and tested at IHEP. The unit will be used for the 1.3 GHz SRF system integration study, high power horizontal test and possible beam test in the future. In this paper, we report the recent R&D status of this program. The first large grain low-loss shape 9-cell superconducting RF cavity made by IHEP reached 20 MV/m in the first vertical test in July, 2010. The prototype tuner and low level RF (LLRF) system are under test. The high power input coupler and cryomodule are under fabrication. Several key SRF facilities for 9-cell cavity surface treatment and pre-tuning were successfully commissioned and are in operation. | GAO Jie ZHAI JiYuan PAN WeiMing LI ShaoPeng SUN Yi DAI JianPing CHI YunLong LI ZhongQuan ZHAO TongXian HUANG TongMing MA Qiang GE Rui LI ChunHua GUO HaiSheng WANG GuangWei QIU Feng LIN HaiYing HOU Mi WANG QunYao | 2011 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2011,54,S2: | 1
Co‑packaged optics(CPO):status, challenges, and solutions显示文摘Due to the rise of 5G,IoT,AI,and high-performance computing applications, datacenter trafc has grown at a compound annual growth rate of nearly 30%.Furthermore,nearly three-fourths of the datacenter trafc resides within datacenters. The conventional pluggable optics increases at a much slower rate than that of datacenter trafc. The gap between application requirements and the capability of conventional pluggable optics keeps increasing,a trend that is unsustainable.Copackaged optics(CPO)is a disruptive approach to increasing the interconnecting bandwidth density and energy efciency by dramatically shortening the electrical link length through advanced packaging and co-optimization of electronics and photonics.CPO is widely regarded as a promising solution for future datacenter interconnections, and silicon platform is the most promising platform for large-scale integration.Leading international companies(e.g.,Intel,Broadcom and IBM)have heavily investigated in CPO technology,an inter-disciplinary research feld that involves photonic devices, integrated circuits design, packaging, photonic device modeling,electronic-photonic co-simulation,applications,and standardization. This review aims to provide the readers a comprehensive overview of the state-of-the-art progress of CPO in silicon platform, identify the key challenges, and point out the potential solutions, hoping to encourage collaboration between diferent research felds to accelerate the development of CPO technology. | Min Tan Jiang Xu Siyang Liu Junbo Feng Hua Zhang Chaonan Yao Shixi Chen Hangyu Guo Gengshi Han Zhanhao Wen Bao Chen Yu He Xuqiang Zheng Da Ming Yaowen Tu Qiang Fu Nan Qi Dan Li Li Geng Song Wen Fenghe Yang Huimin He Fengman Liu Haiyun Xue Yuhang Wang Ciyuan Qiu Guangcan Mi Yanbo Li Tianhai Chang Mingche Lai Luo Zhang Qinfen Hao Mengyuan Qin | 2023 | Frontiers of Optoelectronics2023,16,1: | 1

Feasibility and physics potential of detecting ^(8)B solar neutrinos at JUNO显示文摘The Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory(JUNO)features a 20 kt multi-purpose underground liquid scintillator sphere as its main detector. Some of JUNO's features make it an excellent location for^8B solar neutrino measurements, such as its low-energy threshold, high energy resolution compared with water Cherenkov detectors, and much larger target mass compared with previous liquid scintillator detectors. In this paper,we present a comprehensive assessment of JUNO's potential for detecting^8B solar neutrinos via the neutrino-electron elastic scattering process.A reduced 2 MeV threshold for the recoil electron energy is found to be achievable, assuming that the intrinsic radioactive background^(238)U and^(232)Th in the liquid scintillator can be controlled to 10^(-17)g/g.With ten years of data acquisition, approximately 60,000 signal and 30,000 background events are expected. This large sample will enable an examination of the distortion of the recoil electron spectrum that is dominated by the neutrino flavor transformation in the dense solar matter, which will shed new light on the inconsistency between the measured electron spectra and the predictions of the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework.IfDelta m^(2)_(21)=4.8times10^(-5);(7.5times10^(-5))eV^(2),JUNO can provide evidence of neutrino oscillation in the Earth at approximately the 3sigma(2sigma)level by measuring the non-zero signal rate variation with respect to the solar zenith angle. Moreover,JUNO can simultaneously measureDelta m^2_(21)using^8B solar neutrinos to a precision of 20% or better, depending on the central value, and to sub-percent precision using reactor antineutrinos.A comparison of these two measurements from the same detector will help understand the current mild inconsistency between the value of Delta m^2_(21)reported by solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND experiment. | 19 | A novel dual serotonin transporter and M-channel inhibitor D01 for antidepression and cognitive improvement显示文摘Cognitive dysfunction is a core symptom common in psychiatric disorders including depression that is primarily managed by antidepressants lacking efficacy in improving cognition. In this study,we report a novel dual serotonin transporter and voltage-gated potassium Kv7/KCNQ/M-channel inhibitor D01(a 2-methyl-3-aryloxy-3-heteroarylpropylamines derivative)that exhibits both anti-depression effects and improvements in cognition.D01 inhibits serotonin transporters(K_(i)=30.1±6.9 nmol/L)and M channels(IC_(50)=10.1±2.4μmol/L).D01 also reduces the immobility duration in the mouse FST and TST assays in a dose-dependent manner without a stimulatory effect on locomotion.Intragastric administrations of D01(20 and 40 mg/kg)can significantly shorten the immobility time in a mouse model of chronic restraint stress(CRS)-induced depression-like behavior.Additionally,D01 dose-dependently improves the cognitive deficit induced by CRS in Morris water maze test and increases the exploration time with novel objects in normal or scopolamine-induced cognitive deficits in mice, but not fluoxetine.Furthermore,D01 reverses the long-term potentiation(LTP)inhibition induced by scopolamine.Taken together, our findings demonstrate that D01,a dual-target serotonin reuptake and M channel inhibitor,is highly effective in the treatment-resistant depression and cognitive deficits, thus holding potential for development as therapy of depression with cognitive deficits. | Yaqin Wei Xiangqing Xu Qiang Guo Song Zhao Yinli Qiu Dongli Wang Wenwen Yu Yani Liu KeWei Wang | 2024 | Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2024,14,3: | 0
Vanadium(V)reduction by using a by-product of the yellow phosphorus industry显示文摘Release of vanadium(V)from industry has threatened the environment and human health. In this paper,a removal method of vanadium(V)is proposed using a by-product of the yellow phosphorus industry(phosphorus-iron)as a reducing agent. The thermodynamics analysis shows that the Gibbs free energy is always negative from 0 to 100℃,indicating a spontaneous process.Effect of the phosphorus-iron slag/sulfuric acid dosage and temperature on the removal efficiency is comprehensively studied, and the kinetics parameters are calculated based on a quasi-first order reaction kinetics model. Results indicate that vanadium(V)can be entirely reduced by using phosphorus-iron slag, the frequency factor and apparent activation energy are 3.23×10^(9)min^(-1)and 64.50 kJ.mol^(-1) for vanadium(V)reduction.Based on above results,a lab-scale reactor is constructed and achieves a removal efficiency of~100%and a treatment capacity of 200 ml vanadium(V)solution(2 g.L^(-1))within 3 h.This work demonstrates the feasibility of vanadium(V)reduction using phosphorus-iron slag as a reducing agent in applications. | Baibin Yang Shihong Chen Haowen Ren Yang Qiu Chong Chen Yong Guo Chunhui Luo Qiang Zhao Wei Yang | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2023,62,10: | 0
